For some reason today I can't download any apps. All I get s "Starting Download". I have tried wifi as well to no avail. I can get email, surf the web and make calls. I cleared the cache in the market app. Is anyone else getting this or know how to fix this? I am rooted with stock rom.
Same issue here. No changes on the phone & i could download apps 2 days ago no probs.
I am on the T-Mobile G2 (Hero) UK. Running rooted on SenseHero 2.1 ROM.
Anyone else? Ive tried rebooting & switching wifi off. Also email & web wwork ok.
here's what ive found...and i did this change today... looks like this may be the fix!
"Have you recently changed your Gmail account from [email protected] to [email protected]? Doing so will prevent you from downloading anything from the Market and will prevent you from using Google Chat. It's a known problem and Google are working on a fix."
Looks like it may be the market. Just saw on engadget that alot of people are having issues with the entire market. I can see the apps, i just cant download them. some people cant even see them. hopefully it will be fixed soon.
I recently started over fresh with my rooted evo.
After installing my roms/apps,etc I noticed my contacts were not synced with facebook.
I tried maunally hitting the sync button still nothing.
I tried to delete my facebook profile, clear the cache and log back in. Still wont sync my contacts from facebook.
Anyone having these same issues?
I cant figure out how to fox this.
Apparently it's a server issue and has nothing to do with your rom. I flashed a few roms and back to stock and it still doesn't work. Someone at ppcgeeks called htc to find out the issue and that's what he was told
Diddo! The whole reason I'm searching this forum 2nite is for an answer to this.... please someone provide help... I used simple root to root then did the clockworkmod install....Idk I found a thread that said do simple root then this other 2nd step... as u can tell I'm a noob...I've tried flashing a few roms damage control and some other one nothing gets it sync'd doesn't even show contacts in the live Facebook folder..... tia

Nothing you can do for now. Wait for facebook or htc to fix it.
I don't see how this is an issue with fb or HTC since it was working prior to root. And my contact card is populated with my pic.... guess I will wait n see...

It's an issue because I have an unrooted evo and it was fine yesterday and I was playing around today and unsynced my facebook and now I haven't been able to get it to sync back all day.
So it's not just the roots
Well, I hope its an issue that can be resolved rather quickly on HTC's end.
Dont know how 1 day everything can be working, then the next we get nothing.
Its not like there was a recent update.

man ive been looking for answer to this also.
I would think It's Facebook then not HTC, I use some of their widgets and live feeds for some of my sites for work and there have been days where none update Facebook is great in many ways but has a lot of faults... glad to know its not cuz I rooted thanx for the update.....

Not to bring back an old thread, but I don't want to start a new thread if the issue is already posted.
I have the same issue (however on the HTC Aria), my Aria is brand new and from the start it didn't work. I flashed the update from HTC's website, the one released September 14th, 2010. (version 1.25.502.12) And it still doesn't work. I recently rooted my phone and it still won't work. My contacts card is partially filled from facebook, just my birthday synced and the picture can be synced, the rest won't sync. I have a friend with a Aria as well and their's works fine however, except with a couple day delay on new friends appearing.
Has it been determined that the cause is either HTC or Facebook?
I'm wonder if this has happened to anyone else or not and if so how did you fix it. Randomly when a new email comes into one of my comcast email accounts and I go to the mailbox all of my old emails that were marked as read and just sitting in my inbox are gone. I hit the "Load more messages" button at the bottom of the mailbox and they all come right back but now they are marked as unread. Typically this wouldn't be a big deal but I'm getting over 100 emails a day and need to save a lot of them so I don't want to have to keep marking those 50 as read every time 1 new email comes through. Anyone else have this happen or have any thoughts on how to fix it?
Same thing here, but it was happening on my myTouch3G with Cyanogen6 Froyo too, so I don't think it's the phone. Also, I have it set to delete from server if deleted from inbox, but after deleting some I'll get an update in an hour with some, if not all, of the same emails still.
Froyo bugs with the email app I'm guessing?
Hopefully this gets fixed with an OTA updated or a custom ROM, very annoying, especially since it didn't happen on my Backflip with 1.5 or 2.1 custom rom. Glad to see I'm not the only one, and I have all the settings set up the same way you do to, but the emails never get deleted from the server.
If you didn't have a 2.2 ROM my guess then is it's a general Froyo bug. I didn't notice it on stock 1.6 with the myTouch, only after updating to Cyanogen6 with 2.2, but when I searched their forums, feedback seemed to indicate it was a Cyanogen bug, not Froyo.
Time to see if this already has a bug report on Google lol
Hey Guys....
Anyone else having trouble with connecting to the exchange server...I have been trying for the past one hour, been messing with the settings with no luck. Please let me know if someone has any pointers.
Thanks.
I had issues this morning (EST) when I first got the phone so i just erased everything and then , for an unknown reason, it started working. Sorry, wish I had more for ya but it should work eventually
this has been an intermittent issue logged and literally being worked on by tmo engineering..

Can you explain the settings you used to get it synced.
Thanks...
Make sure ssl is checked
Domain is \my email address
I am having issues too, it will work for a bit then fail, then start working again. Do we know that this is a known issue for sure?

I was able to login after the firmware update from T-mobile....and so far it looks like its working....time will tell....
I use Touchdown and had email, calendar and contacts within minutes. It also syncs tasks. Try it for free in the market. Much better interface than stock. I've used it on my Epic, X and now MT4G with no problems.
I noticed today that it appears active sync is only not working for me while on wifi. Anyone else noticing this?

So I was looking at gmail, I backed out of a message back to the conversation list when I got a pop up stating that there was trouble authenticating worth gmail and a captcha (the graphic word human tester, I think that is what you call it) box popped up. I entered the text, it failed, repeat, then on the next failure notice, the screen got static-y, and continued to get more and more static-y... White had dots of color throughout _ it looked like old uhf that was barely coming in.
Anyway, the screen became unresponsive and a reboot cleared it up, but I am very curious as to what happened and if out is likely to happen again.
Anyone heard of this?

I'll probably catch a barrage of comments for this...but I am 100% sure someone has created a virus on android...long story but I fell victim to the exact same thing the other day. Next thing I know my gmail was hacked.
edit: it kept asking me to re-enter my password. I rebooted and it was fine, I could even click ignore and view my gmail account. I got tired of it constantly popping up and did what you did...next thing I know...reboot and colors.
I got a CAPTCHA today while in Google Maps, the program was freaking out and didn't stop till I entered the CAPTCHA. Anybody else get this today?

Um yeah...same issue.
Something or someone messed with my gmail a few days ago also, I had to keep changing my password to get into gmail or the market. I then noticed that whatever it was had tried to send like 20 some spam emails to everyone in my gmail contacts which google blocked! The only odd ip I could find was somewhere in the UK? Bloody hell I say!

Have any of you recently flashed anything, or installed any new programs? If we can find some common thread, it might make it easier to figure out what's causing it.

Yeah, whatever it is it keeps hasseling for email confirmation. The weird thing is you can by pass it and still access all of googles apps. But the second you punch in the password and captcha...it catches ya. Only thing I've downloaded in the past week was Gun Bros.

Don't know why it sounds so crazy to people, if you research even just lightly, you'll see that there IS Droid malware out already. It is like anything else that gets exploited.

Yeah...but for some bizarre reason, people think it's impossible to get viruses on linux based kernel type systems....wrong.

VERY wrong, and I think it is because most people do not have any experience with Linux. The average user is Windows or Mac, and only know that Linux is just another Operating System. If someone were to sit down and actually take the time and effort, they could do some very scary things to/with someone's Droid.

I don't remember exactly what I had downloaded, but I do know that I kept changing my pass and within a couple of minutes I would have to change it again, so I changed my pass via laptop and master reset my phone and so far so good!

I have not installed anything new - and I just moved to EB01 VooDoo from EB01 this weekend, starting nice and fresh with EB01 odined into place, wipe for kicks, VooDoo install via CWM, and restore of all my apps... so nothing new app wise, and nothing unusual otherwise.
I also run Lookout and although I am not certain just HOW trusted it is, Lookout says everything is OK. It certainly scans every new and restored app as they install... but again, I do not know just how trustworthy is really is.
And that was the first time and so far only time that weirdness has occurred... For you other guys who haveseen it, did it come and go, all in a burst, or just once?
No problems since...
I have seen this on my fascinate as well. It is not malware by any means. From what I have read in the past on this is it has to deal with an account sync issue. I have been getting these popups when I flash the 2.2 roms. When I had the popups if I go into the accounts and uncheck the sync and then recheck them to have to then resync I do not seem to get them anymore.
