lol I have that same feeling, any idea on RAM and Internal storage?
Do you really think that the store will sell out so you have to spend money pre ordering it?

well the first best buy I went was sold out so I just went to another and said F**K it and money is not an issue.
You do realize that the group of numbers right below the Val number is the transaction number? Which means any best buy employee can go print a duplicate receipt and claim it as their own? Just an FYI.
By the way, I totally pre-ordered my EVO. Can't wait for it!
I canceled my Best Buy preorder after learning they were charging $600 for the contract-free version, so I'm waiting to order one at my local Sprint store when they start taking names.

Where did you learn that, if you don't mind me asking??
EDIT: OK, I found the thread on Android Forums where some guy claims he had supposed phone conversations with 3 different BB employees at 3 different BB stores and that they all said $600. I'm sorry, I just don't believe it! Even if it is true (which I doubt) I can easily cash in my $50 BB gift card and walk 100 yards to the Sprint store to buy it for $450.
Are you sure that guy doesn't work for Sprint or Radio Shack?

did not know that but thank you for the tip, much appreciated!!
How much should you pay for the pre-order?
199? or full price?
OK, I take it back. I was just made aware of the fact that Best Buy is charging $599 for unsubsidized Heros.
Sprint only only charges $429.
I also just noticed (in the fine print) that the $50 Best Buy gift card is NOT redeemable for cash.

Were you able to get your money back from Best Buy when you canceled it? Do you know if there is a time limit for canceling? Does anyone know when Sprint will do preorders for the Evo? I ask because I just made my preorder today at BB and realized afterward they will steal $150 from me (it's not stealing, it's Capitalism which I'm all for, it still sucks though) and want to avoid that if at all possible.
i preordered in bestbuy but on my receipt it said to pick it up on june 5th?anyone else?

I made the stupid mistake of creating $300 in gift cards to help budget for this. If I get stuck having to pay another 300 there will be problems. They're going to adjust my price or refund my money.
As I understand it, you can use the gift card towards the price of the phone. Just pre-ordered mine today too.

I went in and they instantly gave me cash (paid with debit). I'm sure that you'd be fine getting a refund all the way until June. Just tell them that you don't want a marked up phone, and they hadn't released the price when you paid.

Same here. I aint get squat and I paid full price from bb. what's good with that.
i got mine without asking. They had it rubberbanded to the evo with m yname on it.
just curious, what does the phone cost if you buy outright , -no upgrade or new line.
i think i might go back up to best buy tomorrow and ask some questions about that..

If I were richer than Donald Trump I wouldn't even let Motorola and Verizon take me for a ride like they hope to do come the 24th. Only a small minority of people who are foolish with their money are going to be purchasing this. Actual rich people are smart enough to do research on products they buy and wisely spend their money to get the best value for their buck. Thats how you get rich in the first place.

The technology required to put a i5 and 4gb of ram into a tablet would shoot the price of the device up towards the $2000* range!
* this amount is pure speculation and doesn't apply any real educated calculations based on OP or XDA. Please see your dealer for more options...
Pre-oder necessary?
Does anyone expect the Xoom to sell out day one? Most of the people I have mentioned the Xoom to has not even heard of it. I personally do not want to drive for an hour to BB, give away $880ish dollars (is this how the pre-order will even work?), and then turn around and go back to school. I am gonna spend like $30 bucks in gas all in all on this thing. (Which I guess in the scope of things, isn't that much.)

I doubt that it will sell out, but if you're gonna drive an hour to get one, I'd try to go early; Best Buy probably will only carry 5-10 per store and a few will be preorders for CRAZY early adopters like me.... It also depends on the area, I live in a smaller town, so I doubt we'll have any sell outs

Yeah, I will be going to the Montgomery, Al Bestbuy, which since it is the capital of Alabama, you would think they would have a larger stock... Well, back at home, I had access to three BB, one in Trussville, and 2 in Birmingham. The one on HWY 280 in B'ham had 100 iPads when they first came out. My friend (one of the managers) told me that they didn't sell a single one on the opening day! Then they sold them all in the following days and ran out of stock for the next several months... I plan on getting there right at or 15 min before the Montgomery store opens. (For pre-order) I could always get over sooner, but I am not sure I expect there to be a lot of crazy first adopters there.

If you're going to Pre-Order one on the 17th would that not lock in your order for pickup on the 24th? I'm just assuming that's how it is going to work, you pre-order, they set aside however many pre-orders they get, you go in and pickup on release day. Maybe I'm just thinking too logical, someone please correct me if I'm wrong because I saved the money for the XOOM and I don't care what others say, I'm getting one. So if I'm wrong someone please step up now and let me know what to expect. =)

Got one at best buy for $399 but its.going back. Its overrated.

There are things I love/hate about both the iPhone and Atrix, so I'm seriously caught in the middle. Any thoughts about why I shouldn't ditch the Atrix yet? You said wait, but I'm not sure "what" you wanted me to wait for
Some are selling on ebay for around $350.
not spending 500 bucks...
I'm in with the "cheaper dock" thing
I want the dock, I find the idea to be genial, but I do not see why I should pay $500 for essentially a screen, a keyboard and a battery.
So, anyone know of a cheaper source (or when - if - prices eventually go down), let me know. I'll keep subscribed to this thread
As I mentioned. Best Buy - $399.00 ($100 off)
You can order it from Motorola for around 360; granted I took my Atrix back before I got a chance to use it.
I love the idea but a lot of reviews and people with first hand experience said it was a little laggy.
If it was 200 bucks I'd grab one today though.

Not anymore, you can't. It is not available anymore in Moto's online store. Before they took the accessory down, they bumped up the price again to US$499.
Not sure if I even want to spend 400 bucks on it (bestbuy). I personally think that is still too much for this piece of hardware.
It's $299 from ATT after a $100 MIR. I can't post links yet, but just search for lapdock and it comes up.

Only applies for people on an AT&T plan. Where this does not apply, this is the same price as letstalk.com.
Thanks for pointing it out though, this is another place to order. And a good deal for AT&T customers
It seems the Lapdock is now on sale in Canada for a mere CAD 330 (as opposed to US$ 399 being the cheapest in US). Unfortunately, it seems futureshop does not ship internationally, so it seems there is no way for me to order it from there.
This, however, brings up an interesting pricing question: is Moto test-driving a different price in Canada, just to see how it sells? Does that mean the US price is going to drop, or does it mean the Canadian price is going to go up later on?
More importantly: how do I get this shipped internationally from Canada? Any ideas?

If it were me, I'd have it shipped to a postal annex or USP store or something, then have them intercept it and forward the mail to any address of your choosing.
As some of you know i started a thread about possibly selling my OG for an infinity. I had someone who wanted to buy it off me for 250.
Well as i was reading through the infinity forums for product reviews i stumbled on a post about a guy that got best buy to honor a price match for random company called surefireshops.com for.... wait for it... 347.49! So i gave it a try and couldn't believe best buy actually did it!
So in the end , if you include the money i got from the guy who wanted my OG tablet, i got a brand new infinity with keyboard for a little over 260 dollars. If you are thinking about upgrading, DO IT! This tablet is amazing and for that price, seriously its a no brainer!

Lol no worries i was like "why is this guy ragging on me, im just trying to spread some awesome deals". Yea i was skeptical about it at first when i saw that the poster said it had worked. But once he provided a picture of his receipt with the price match details the flood gates opened and everyone started going to best buy. Honestly i would not be able to afford the infinity without the deal. Went from paying close to 700 to paying 260....Not bad

Great deal but let's be clear you paid 350 for the tab. The fact that you sold your used tf101 really doesn't come into the picture as far as the deal goes.

Well im writing to you on the TF101 forum. Which means, if im not mistaken, most of the users on here own a tf101. Im also posting of upgrading from a tf101 to the infinity. So im assuming that you will be selling your tf101 to help purchase the infinity. So technically everyone on here will pay roughly around the same amount if they use the same price match ans sell their OG transformer for a decent price.

I'm surprised Best Buy would do that, since Best Buy does not match the prices of Internet-only retailers. nor do they match the website prices of their local retail competitors' stores.
Best Buy Puerto Rico stores have their own store price guarantee.
All other stores are not supposed to match internet-only retailers.
Whatever manager in that particular store approved that, he/she will most likely be fired.
They will most certainly take a huge hit to their bottom line if that particular store is doing it excessively.
No wonder Best Buy is in dire straits.

Probably not. Its up to the discretion of each individual manager at a particular best buy. If they feel that they will benefit from giving that particular customer the discount in order to keep their business and also not allow a competitor to have the sale, they will most likely do it. Also i dont know what best you shop at, but the ones where i live always price match online retailers.

I was a retail manager for 10 years.
As far as hardware sales go, the profit margin is quite thin.
Selling the tablet at retail, there's a 5 to 6 % profit margin at best.
Retailers make their profit on extended warranties and accessories, not hardware sales.
If a consumer came in with such a price match, and is willing to purchase an extended warranty, i could possibly, although highly unlikely, see the sale going through.
True, the ultimate decision lies with the store manager, as long as the manager's decision is within Best Buy's price matching policy.
In this case, it is not.

No. Best Buy does not match the prices of Internet-only retailers or the website prices of our local retail competitors' stores.

Let me know if you find a clause in there where it states "matching Internet-only retailer's pricing is at a store manager's discretion".
Bottom line, the store manager in the Best Buy you frequent is not abiding by Best Buy's price matching policy.
Period.
Here's a scenario of discretionary decision-making by a Best Buy store manager, still within Best Buy's price matching policy:
Say you went to PC Richard and they had a one day sale on the tablet.
50 dollars less than your local Best Buy down the street.
The PC Richard store manager:
"Sorry sir, we are sold out. First come first serve. While quantities last.
Can i interest you in anything else? No? Ok, have a good day, sir"
So you walk down the street to your local Best Buy with your PC Richard Sunday ad, requesting a price match.
The store manager gets on the phone with one of the PC Richard's store managers.
After a brief conversation, he hangs up the phone and tells you:
"Sir, they are out of stock. I will not match this price."
You explain, with frustration and wild abandon to the manager:
"But, but, I shop here all the time, i'm a regular customer, please i don't have enough money", and blah, blah, blah.
Then the store manager, at his discretion, decides to price match PC Richard's price to hold on to you as a regular customer.
Although the store is not making its 5 to 6 % profit, it is still making a small profit, and retains you as a loyal customer, and the store manager is following the price matching policy.
Anyone who would give a product away at that price, not make a profit, without a thorough investigation of legitimacy and availability of the product at the online retailer, is a blithering idiot, and in the long run, will either be written up, suspended, demoted or lose their job when the store's P & L statement is reviewed by Best Buy Corporate.
I don't know what Best buy you shop at either, but I shop at Best Buy in Manhattan, and i'm a Premier Silver member.
If i brought in that particular price match, i would be laughed at, and rightfully so.
As far as i know, most businesses are in business to make money, not lose it.

Although the store is not making it's 5 to 6 % profit, it is still making a small profit, and retains you as a loyal customer, and the store manager is following the price matching policy.

Best Buy isn't making a ton of money. They are losing billions. Their 2Q profit dropped 90% and their stock tumbled to a 9 year low.
Best Buy lost $1.7 billion/$4.89 per share, for the period ending March 3.
Best Buy is closing 50 big box stores because they are losing a ton of money.

What's my point?
Do you know how to read?
My point is clear.
As i simply stated in my first reply, i'm surprised Best Buy would honor such a price match, since it goes against their policy, they are suffering a tremendous loss, and it is one of the reasons the company is having serious financial issues.
That is all. Nothing more to it.
Do you have difficulty understanding that?
If so, perhaps you should take a basic reading comprehension course.
And you stated yourself you're surprised Best Buy actually did it, albeit a shady online retailer:

You're contradicting yourself now.
I understand you want everyone to know about this, but do you want a prize, or perhaps everyone's praise and admiration because of this awesome "deal"?, and you take offense to any reply that doesn't praise or admire you for posting it?
Relax, school boy. I'll give you a cookie if you want.
