So for any of you fellow Canadians out there who are pissed that Google Maps Navigation only works in the U.S. I have found an answer. The link here will take you to a forum post on how to get the navigation feature to work outside the U.S.
I just put it on my X10a and it's working perfectly. You have to use the version of maps that you download and not the one that comes on your phone but thats the price you pay for free navigation I guess.
cheers

Shame on me for posting old news, and double shame on me for looking for info on anything android other than on XDA. Wont happen again.......i hope.

I was searching for TomTom7 USA and CANADA maps and i found them!
Sorry i have to delete the site, I did't know no warez allowed!
uh oh...
/me ducks for cover!
wait how long this thread will last.
posting of warez is NOT allowed on here.

I found it for you.

Tomtom 7 US and canada maps
I know everyone hates warez and that it rps off developers who work hard and should get paid for what they do... but I PAID for Tomtom 6 on my tilt just months ago and am now running a Touch Pro 2 that I FINALLY got to work with Tomtom if I run 7. But when I look on their site (linked above) and called them, they said they couln't even sell me the maps! Ughhhhhh!!!!
They told me they would only be supporting the I-phad and their own devices in the future. (is this possibly due to the future free release of Google's FREE turn by turn nav software that will be coming out for PDAs?)
I thought for a long time that toreents and warez stuff was a screw over of the people who should be getting paid for the work they do. At this point (out of frustration and anger) I find myself turning to them. Am I a bad guy for this??? Does anyone else have a better legitimate option for me to use this software that I like and am trying to purchase?
Thanks, I respect all your thoughts and opinions. You guys have helped me and taught me so much.
Wow. I bought the Oz map before I went there. I was thinking of buying the US?Canada map. You CANT!?? Just checked - above poster is right, of course. Grrrrr. At least with the new worms that are infected the (jailbroken, unlocked) handsets of clueless iTards, I see the smug cloud dissipating a bit over their heads. Over the heads of the one's who are savvy enough to be aware of the problem.
I read that it would available for the Nexus, and I'm pretty sure I read it on the google home page for the nexus last week when I ordered.
Did I misread?
its available for download from the android market. just search for google earth.
I don't see it in the market...confused.
I don't see it in the market, strange.
He's messing with you. Not available yet.
You guys haven't downloaded it yet? Wish it had multi-touch though..
Well, I see how some of these "Senior Members" get their posts up, by posting BS.
Thanks for the info that it is NOT available yet.

Yup.
The one shown in the press conference was just a demo.
Should be coming along soon if you believe them.
(Posting the obvious)
Google Maps is equipped with satellite imagery, to hold you over until it's released.. they're essentially pretty similar.
Google Earth is in it's testing/beta phases still within Google, DogFood as they like to call it. It hasn't been released to the general public yet.
Now I dont know how many people actually know about this but after searching the net I found this:
http://www.google.com/mobile/navigation/
The voice sounds a little computerized but it works a treat, also you can navigate using street view or satellite view.
Does anyone know how to change the voice?
Little bit old, there's a ton of threads in the General forum about this - it was reported here first before the media got onto it!!

oh I'm sorry but I just don't understand your reply... what was reported here first... how to change the voice on Gmaps or.. I'd like to know how to do that too
on the 24th (I think) a member here realised he had navigation on Google Maps without having to use the hack. He posted here and tipped off Engadget and then everyone found out and reported it
it is because navigation is working in the UK. it was only available in the US before he mention. now we are hoping it will be working for more countries soon...

I'm actually quite impressed with it, especially considering it's free. The fact the voice says road names is great.
It appears that the Android Market will expand the availability of paid apps to other countries.
If someone can post the link I'd appreciate it. I'm not allowed yet (just put "www" in front):
intomobile.com/2010/09/27/android-market-offering-paid-apps-in-12-more-countries/
I would welcome and praise this move by google, but I'll refrain from posting my personal oppinion on this as I suppose the thread would get closed as being pointless.
Cheers!
Thanks for the info!

Just asking for a little help here, and I'd be grossly disappointed and shocked if the XDA community hasn't figured this one out by now. Apparently many people have been unable to download the beta version of the Weatherbug App for Android Tablets. And though Weatherbug claims (on their website) that this beta is ready for us to download and enjoy, and even though the Market has it and is supposedly ready for download, the Market will not recognize our tablets as being compatible. HOWEVER, I'd be more than willing to bet my precious Xoom that someone on here has already found the apk of this beta app, and if so I'm hoping that they'd be able to post it, or a link to it, ASAP. Think of me what you wish, but this is by far the app that I'd been looking forward to the most with my Xoom, as an avid weather nut. I'm fully confident that someone in the XDA community has an answer to this already. Thanks!!!

Yeah I am aware of this, but I figured I'd still post it here as I knew it would get more exposure here. I fully expected it would get moved, but in the mean time more people will see it here than in the Apps section
