Hi, I noticed the other day that when I do a Google search using the built in search it is all in German. I have had a look in the settings but I an't find anything that will change it back to English as default, I did German in School (10 years ago!) so can fumble through and manage with it but its still annoying.
Anyone know how to change it back?
Thanks in advance!
On the Google page click edit preferences or equivalent, and set your preferred language.
Tried that, it does change it to Google.co.uk but when I close the browser and re-open it goes back to google.de. This doesn't happen with my google bookmark just on the built in sense search. Everything else is in English on my phone exept this.......

It is a registry setting, not a folder.

For the Program, typically it's a folder in \Windows\Start Menu.
The links place in there will show up in program.
As for the settings, I don't know :S Hope someone posts some hints on this 2

thanks for your help , but With "Folder Start" I only get this one post('ve tried both google and built-in search). I will appreciate it if you would like to share the link with us.
Well, I tried some other key words, and got two Posts. They use external exe files to realize program and settings view ,which will take almost 200K space.

Hey all,
I can't find the right search string for this. If there is a thread, I'm sorry in advance. Does anyone know how to change the default program a file opens with? Opera 9.5beta stole my default browser so IE no longer works when I click .html , and documents to go stole my default office document extension so office mobile no longer opens anything by default. Is there a setting somewhere which lets you change this? Thanks.

You can use Schaps Advanced configuration tool to make these changes. You can change your default browser and file associations.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=AdvancedConfig
thanks for your prompt reply Is there any other way to do this? Advanced Config seems to conflict with some other stuff I have on my touch already, and I don't want to uninstall it. Is there any way to do this through registry?
search for File Explorer Extension

Hallo,
since i started the Internet Explorer, Opera isn't longer standard browser, I have tried to change the reg-key:
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\EFBROWSER]
"0"=Opera Browser
"1"=\\Windows\OperaL.exe\
"2"=dword:00000001
"3"=dword:00000000
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
But it doesn't work. Does anybody know how to change it.
i'm sure if you seach enough you will find the answer, it has been asked many times.
i'm sure a search of "change default browser" will find something...
-edit- did the seach for you. Thread here
i have googled for it but the only thing i found is to change the registry.
When i lounch the browser from TF3D, Opera starts. That's OK. But when i "klick" on a link in RSS Hub Pocket IE starts.
Sorry for my bad english.
Can't find an answer to this using search so forgive me if i missed it.
Pretty much as the title states, i was intrigued with the prospect of skyfire so i gave it a go, doing so pushes internet explorer to the default browser (hateful program!!).
I just need to get opera as the default browser again.
Any help grateful.
in operas setting there is one which makes it set as default browser, (but i cant see it on mine??? ,might be cos i upgraded to the flash version on here????)
open opera, go to settings have a look around, i couldnt see it either....
although you can try this...
:extra:
go to opera and then go to this page opera:config
you will find alot of extra settings here to change things about
there must be a registry setting for which is default browser might be as simple as what open ".html" files
Use a registry edit
I have had to do this a couple of times now through playing with alternative broswers. I read elsewhere that if you type opera:config into the address bar in opera, you can bring up all the preferences. Apparently checking 'Browser First Time Launch' in the 'Install' section is supposed to reinstate Opera as the default browser, but it didn't work for me.
I have found the easiest way is simply to use a reg fix by using a registry editor (I have been using EveryWan which also allows you to remote control your Touch HD as well as many other useful tools: http://www.sparus-software.com/Device-Management/Products/EveryWAN-Remote-Support,43/THE-ULTIMATE-TOOL-FOR-HOTLINERS.html).
Edit the registry as follows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\: DEFBROWSER
"0"=Opera Browser
"1"="\Windows\OperaL.exe\"
After this everything should be hunkydory
Regards,
Guy
Will give this ago, maybe this should go wiki? if it's not already.
The possibiltys that skyfire/other new browsers may tempt to install but lose the default functionality of opera, which in my mind is superb on the HD.
Thanks Chaps
Hey. thanks for all the suggestions. I did change the registry values, according to the instructions above, I did tick the install option in Opera config, and still I get IE opening when I click on a link in RSS Feed. Anyone has another idea?
Thanks!

This is relevant to my interests. I really dislike IE opening my rss feeds as well.
I also have this problem.
It happened after installing and unistalling skyfire.
Every time I click in a link (for example in the email) it opens in the IE.

Since I wrote the post above I have discovered that using the internal Opera method is the best because not only does it reinstate Opera as the default for opening links from e-mails, but it also resets the default program for RSS reader which was driving me nuts.
I did mention this briefly previously, but simply load up Opera and then type opera:config in the address bar. This will bring up all the settings. Now find the 'Install' section and expand the section by tapping the word 'Install'. Now check the 'Browser First Time Launch' box and then tap 'Save'. It will come up with some nonsense about running a javascript command, but just select okay and then quit out the browser and re-start.
I found the above method reset Opera as my default for all apps, so hope it works.
Good luck,
G
Sure this works. Any way to reverse the setting ? i.e. not to make Opera the default browser anymore...

Gisbourne,
Could you help-out on how to set my Opera as default?. I tried your suggestion on Post # 3 & 11. But it did not did the trick. I tried also the following suggestion:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila2D\InternetWidget\
"OperaEXEFile"=<Path to Opera>
"WebBrowserType"=dword:00000001
I can't input the characters "dword:00000001" on WebBrowserType, coz I got only three (3) choices either Binary, Decimal or Hexadecimal. Tried to put the characters, but my home screen (M2D) keeps on reseting when I go to the widgets.
Maybe you still have something under your sleeve to help me out . Thanks in advance.
Hkeyclassesroot/http/shell/command, edit the file in command with the the address of the .exe of yhe browser you want to use. This is for RSS feeds.

Value data="\Windows\OperaL.exe"%1
I replaced the data to "\Windows\Opera9.exe"
Well it did not reset to home screen but when i clicked the IE browser opens.
Search for JZSmartMort, its a cab file. This will give you the option to select your default browser.
I will help you more with links and such, the problem is that im browsing on my HD.
Restore the reg data you edited in the http/command folder.
I just watched a video (still waiting for mine) that said that there was no owner information under settings > Personal I have several programs that use this information to register. Can anyone advise the registry hack to restore this option.
Thanks
I've seen it activated in some of the ROMs running Leo on the X1. I'm sure someone will be able to help you out there ^^
Get a registry editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Owner, delete the "Redirect" value.
That is how I input my Owner Info into my TP2:
Goto > Setting > Today > Items > uncheck the HTC Sense and check the Owner Info items.
You should see the Owner Info item display on the Today screen where you can input your name from there.
The registry fix doesn't seem to work on HD2...Any other solutions to enter owner info?
Get a registry editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Owner, change Hide 1 to Hide 0,soft reset and then go to settings/menu/extra/personal and then to the tab owner information.

For the lazy ones or the registrial challanged, here's a .cab that should sort you out. Do a restart for the changes to take effect,

Looks like someone in HTC did'nt do their check properly before finalising the ROM.
