I finally f'ed up my G1, home+power, camera+power, home+back+power doesnt work at all.
Can this still be fixed? Thanks.
Sounds like it is bricked so the only way to fix it is to use JTAG or replace the motherboard in the phone.
Try pulling the battery. Then boot back up while holding Home. If there is no response then, then it's bricked.

Hi, i bought an HTC Dream/Google G1/T-Mobile G1. I bought as faulty and asked the guy what did it had. He said he needed to flash and update software. So i bought it thinking that if that's the problem i'd solve it and end up with an Android phone. I paid €50 for it. Thing is i can't do anything to the phone. I plugged the battery, pushed power and it gives the normal vibrate and then nothing, the screen doesn't even light up. I have to take the battery out to power off the phone then. If i plug the USB, it lights the red LED, but no recognition of the phone by the PC, turn it on again...the same.
I've searched the forum, top to bottom, and i've tried almost everything to try and make something out of my beautyfull brick. Keys combination, *.img to SD, haven´t tried throwing it to the wall, but i'm almost there.
If i could even get to bootloader... I have a Diamond and flashed it numerous times and never had a glitch.
Can you guys help out ? Please, i've searched the forum, read almost every post about bricked phones, etc...
Sounds like they may have flashed the wrong firmware file or its physically damaged and they lied to you.
I am pretty sure it needs re-flashed with a jtag interface if it's only a software issue. Because if the recovery image is intact it will still say "t-mobile G1" and be stuck in a boot loop.
Have you tried to start the phone to fastboot mode(hold down the back button and press power), or recovery(hold home and press power) ?
If you can't get into either of those you either need to find someone with a jtag adapter or get your money back because it's dead.
Thanks for the reply.
I tried all of that... . How on earth will i find someone with a jtag adapter, at least in a nearby area... guess i have nice brick then. I read somewhere here on xda of a shop in India that recovers the phone but its way to far for me to send the phone, pay the fix and they send it back!!! Well i guess thats it, i got screwed...
Hard bricked as in, absolutely nothing shows up on the screen.
Called verizon and they said they'll send a replacement but that I must return mine.
Have not mentioned anything about my phone being bricked, but will they charge me if they ever find out?
The only thing functional on my phone is the vibrations from powering on the device. The device doesn't actually power on but you do feel the vibration. However, it's not a single vibration, it's constant (about 1 vibration per second) until you let go of the power button
You can't put the phone into recovery manually? As long as they can't do it they won't see that its rooted, so you should be fine. What did you do to brick it? These phones are rather difficult to hard brick.

No, I'm not able to put it not any mode whatsoever. I'm just worried they'll figure out it's bricked by the constant vibrations it produces while holding onto the power button
Well, it WAS soft bricked at first after wiping my entire OS.
trying to get back to it's original state was where I messed up
Hello
This is my first post here and I'd really appreciate advice in this matter.
I've spent the past couple of hours searching for an answer but nothing works or totally irrelevant results.
I have a problem where I'd rooted my phone with KingRoot, changed it to SuperSU successfully (restarted my phone several times since then and no issues)
I installed TWRP (only the app) from the Google Play store and that's as far as I got before I powered off my phone to cool down before attempting any installation of TWRP. Powered on my phone and I can't get past the Samsung logo.
Recovery won't come up, Download mode works but restarts itself and volume buttons do nothing to let me confirm download mode and so it's sending me in a loop. Samsung logo and restart again and again. I insert my battery and the first thing that happens is my phone goes on a mission, determined to power itself on only to Bootloop.
No, before anyone suggests it be a hardware issue, it's a brand new phone. There's nothing wrong with the buttons.
If anyone is going to point out the obvious in saying that I'm responsible for rooting my device, I'm aware of this. The rooting procedure was a one-click method which was successful and caused no boot issues after restarting the phone countless times.
Basically:
Bootloop
Can't access recovery
Can't get to Download mode without it getting back into the bootloop after 5 seconds or so. Volume buttons do nothing to confirm download mode.
USB debugging wasn't enabled before this Bootloop occurred
Do I have a paperweight or is there a way to salvage something from this?
The phone isn't supposed to power itself on after inserting the battery.
This behavior is only acceptable when the phone is plugged in while inserting the battery. But even so, the phone wouldn't try to boot up, it would just display the charging animation.
i had a similar problem where my phone would boot up to the white samsung logo as soon as i insert my battery. tirned out the power button was stuck. try gently knocking the power button onto the corner of a table or something with the battery pulled out. it might work for you if your problem is what i think it is.

Thank you for your response but would you like a video to prove that it is in fact attempting to boot up when inserting the battery?

I tested it on my device (I9505) and it doesn't boot up, it just turns on to display the charging animation. If I want it to boot up I have to hold the power button.
So, in conclusion, it must be your power button.
You can say the phone is new as much as you want, but there is a chance it came with a factory defect.
There might also be a possibility it is refurbished phone, which means it is pseudo-new.

You're correct, thank you again I thoroughly appreciate your time and help with this
Hi, my dad's S4 has fallen out of his pocket, and I can't even boot into the recovery, looks like it's bootlooping itself without touching it.
Once I put the battery in, it boots up automatically but then it bootloops. I managed to get into the download mode, but tocuhing VOL UP/ Down does nothing...
my guess is that somehow the power button is stuck, even tough touching it feels normal, so I guess it's an internal fail, maybe I need to replace the button?
I removed the back cover and the entire back so nothing is pushing on the button. but I can't see what's happening inside, so before I'll disassemble the entire device, I hoped to get some help here.
Thanks.
Old phone died after 13 months, won't charge and turn on. Luckily got a replacement phone from essential. The new phone will turn on but stuck on logo. Was able to go into recovery mode to do a reset but got stuck too. Now the screen won't even turn on and won't go into recovery mode.

yes, for dead screen possibly digitiser or screen, try swap with old phones assuming you still have old one
edit: or maybe even just ribbon cable not connected properly or damaged
