I couldn't get the Hard SPL to work on my phone. It's app-unlocked as well. I know I would definately donate nicely for working Hard SPL and 6.5 Rom. This is the best SmartPhone I've owned!

jackfrost7 reports that Hard SPL worked for him.. I am hesitant to try it without a working 6.5 ROM, my phone is the work phone, although I use it more like a personal phone, i did have to beg my boss to pay the full price for it and if I break it, i won't be able to replace it.
good thing i still have my old s710 and fuze to "play" with.
Ok, I got the Hard SPL to work finally. I think it was more of a Win7/x64 issue with my failed attempts. I flashed the 6.5 ROM. Worked with a signal but seemed to have some wierd hangs. Flashed the 6.1 tweaked today and that one seems to be running faster than stock...

Update on HTC s743 flashing
Finally got enough courage to flash my work s743, here is the update:
HardSPL developed for s740 by jockyw2001 does WORK!
Flashed [ROM][WM 6.5] "Official" v1.00 by frauhottelmann and I am not having any issues with it so far. Works nicely.
a few observations, after the flash and detection on network (ATT), I had no signal, by going to Settings, Phone, Band Select, had to change Band Type to GSM (1900). the old 6.1 ROM had a choice of auto, 6.5 does not.
GPS works, Bluetooth works.. so far all the features that I use all work!!!

One little annoying issue i am having on s743 with 6.5 ROM is that when the key pad is locked and I press a button to get the unlock screen, the screen goes bright (wakes up) and soon after dims, so seeing UNLOCK and press "*" screens are some what hard. Same thing happens when SMS arrives, the screen is dimmed. Any way to adjust that?

Second day on 6.5 with my s743, no problems... What exactly does not work?
Steps that I took:
HardSPL, no errors - phone rebooted
Flashed 6.5, no errors. first boot took about 5 min. I did a hard reset one more time after the ROM was loaded.
No issues yet.
I used a different computer and flashed the rom fine.
Not sure why that worked, when the original computer flashed the HardSPL fine... both use rapi?
guys do you know if flashing a S740 rom into a S743 will make it work as a S740?
I have a S743 and I want to get 3G signal in Europe...
Flashing a rom will not change your hardware. If your phone is not compatible with certain frequencies, changing your rom will not change that at all. The s743, no matter what rom, will support the 850 & 1900 3G frequencies.
And yes I used the s740 hard spl on my fiancee's s743 with no problems. The WM 6.5 rom on the other hand has issues (posted in that forum) and with this phone being so not popular, there isn't much support :-/

I currently have the HTC Tytn with the original ROM on it. I'm on Cingular's network, and am having the problem where the call either gets dropped completely or temporarily when the phone tries to "hand off" 3G to 2G. Are any of the radio-only upgrades that are on the ftp supposed to address this issue? I'm not looking to change the ROM. I'm currently on radio verion 1.03

I have a TyTn on Cingular as well. I upgraded to 1.20 radio ROM and haven't experienced any problems you're having moving to/from 3G areas.

I'm having much better battery performance with the HTC ROM and the 1.20 radio than I did with the 1.16 radio.
Goesto11, did you have any installation problems during or after the install with the 1.20 radio? I read a couple other posts where some additional tweaks needed to be made afterwards, but I'm thinking now that that was with the Cingular ROM.

1.20 Radio was actually from the latest iMate ROM from what I remember .. might want to verify ..

Nope, no installation problems at all (follow the directions and you should be fine).

I am wondering the same thing. I upgraded, but I haven't driven through any of the troubled areas yet. I guess we'll see on the drive home.
I'll install it today and report on it asap. A particular area that I go through on the way home from work attempts the hand off a good 80% of the time.
Oh yeah, one more (stupid) question...
If I install the 1.20 radio, then later end up doing a hard reset... after the hard-reset, will I end up with the original HTC radio, or the updated one?
Good question .. You will then always have an updated RadioROM .. even after a hard reset

Yeah, I did this yesterday. Your updated Radio ROM sticks with the device.
But what about installing an entirely new ROM; this overwrites the radio ROM right?

Yes, this is correct. A "normal/standard" ROM update will overwrite the System ROM, the Extended ROM, and the Radio ROM.
I can't seem to dowload a good file to unzip. It says "not a valid pocketpc app".
The ROM updates need to be run from a WinXP PC with an ActiveSync/USB connection to the Hermes...
and remember, Flashing can be a dangerous business, even if you know what you're doing... use at your own risk!

I have tested camera too. I have same problem. Camera don't work. I flashed back to Radio 1.58.25.14 Murata. Now camera works again. So it must be a problem in the Radio_1.59.42.15. I am sorry for that. The extraction of radio rom from RUU_Polaris_O2_DE_3.13.207.0_radio_sign_25.85.30.0 7_1.59.42.15_Ship worked, but the rom it is not a good rom. Thank you all for testing it also.

At the moment, camera on radio 1.59.42.15 only works with UDK's SyriusRO Project ROM, Phamquang's V31 ROM, German O2 Upgrade ROM, Spanish and SFR Upgrade ROM.
Compared to Murata Radio's, it does have a better reception, faster Satnav Fix and longer battery life.
i love this radio, no battery drainage, fast gps fix, very good hsdpa reception, since my polaris went to htc repair center hsdpa didnt work anymore because they flashed radio 1.58.25.14 on it, now with this radio, everything works again, even faster and better !
Camera and calls problem
I installed this Radio along with Original Polaris ROM, SEA 1.28.457.2 WWE. I encountered camera issues with this. Basically black screen on the viewfinder. And when i make a call, i get a "hanging" dial tone like "truuuuuuuuuu".
Anyone have this problem or any advise please?

Either you use the mentioned ROM's or revert you radio ROM back to the previous one you had prior to upgrading.
Thanks for the info. I missed the post that this radio only support certain versions of ROMS. Too bad for me... I need MMS on a frequent basis so, I guess I'll revert till HTC provides a stupid upgrade!!! Grr!!!

Since i flashed the new radio my HTC
can't receive 100%. Than I flashed back to
udK GER Beta 3 with 1.58.25.14 but this doesn't fix the problem.
My Orbit 2 have no problem to get 100% with udK GER Beta 3
Please help me....

Ok here is the story, I have a I-Mate JasJar and I have installed Tomal´s latest WM 6.1 and radio version 1.15.00, everything works fine, but...
When I call someone the other part cant hear me as clear as they should, I can hear them just fine but they dont!
I figured it was something wrong with the radio and that it does not work properly where I live! (Sweden).
So I started trying every radio in this list but none of them worked!
Then I found the original shipped rom for my I-mate on this thread And decided to test it! Sure enough after installing I got WM 5 and the original radio which is 1.03.01, now the other part is hearing me crystal clear! And thats all just fine, but I do not want to have wm 5 when I have so many great cooked 6.1 roms to choose from!
I decided to try and upgrade only the Tomals rom and not to touch the radio, the installation was sucess but it got stuck on the boot screen!
I went back to the radio list and decided to try the closest radio to mine which is 1.04.02, and sure enough the unit started just fine with that radio! (My conclusion is that wm 6.1 does not work with the original radio but needs one of those in this list!)
However now the original problem that the other part is not hearing me clear is back!
So my question is, is there any way to get a wm 6.1 to work with my original radio (1.03.01)? Or am I stuck with wm 5?
If I need WM 5, could you please suggest me a cooked WM5 that is not as sluggish as the original!
If I can use WM 6.1, please tell me which one works or if I have to do something to get it working properly!

Im back after a very long time because.
I buyed after a very long time a htc touch hd...
well its not new, the guy were i buyed from used it for 1week and didn't liked the touchscreen. He told me he received it as a present for xmas and stuff like that.
Now is my Question: i want to flash my rom because its WM 6.1 and i heared alot of great things about WM 6.5 is that trough ?
Also if i flash my HTC TOUCH HD, will my simlock dissapear or something ?
Cause on my last phones it was, i flashed it and i needed to unlock it again and more headache.
Is it normal that the simlock will reactivate if its flashed to WM6.5 ??
If the htc still unlocked.
Which ROM you all will advice me ? i really prefer Dutch roms, but english roms are also oke.
and also tell me why, so i can get all the benefits of it
Im not a beginner in flashing of phones but flashing of HTC's i am.
I only did it once as far as i can remember and that was on a P3300 a very old model, So if there is also a little manual i will be very thankfull.

Yes, the good news is that there have been many advancements and improvements to the Windows Mobile OS in version 6.5, such as having a more finger friendly User Interface - providing you with a much neater and tidy user experience. Speed varies depending on which 6.5/6.5.x ROM you choose to install and you will be glad to know that both Dutch and English ROMs are available for download
The bad news is that if you flash your HD in it's current state (simlocked), then I am afraid that this is unlikely to work until you get your SIM unlocked as the simlock is controlled by the baseband. Data is stored there too and flashing the radio or ROM will not have any effect on the simlock. Therefore, I would advise you to have it unlocked before you begin the flashing process.
Here is a guide that you can read to make you more aware of how to flash a Touch HD ROM. Essentially, what you must do first is unlock your phone using either Hard-SPL or USPL.
You can also see this link as it details what the latest ROM builds offer in terms of stability and performance.
I think it would be a little unfair to say which ROM is best especiallly for the people who create these custom ROMs. Each ROM is different in their own little way i.e. one ROM might be fast but a little unstable, another may be stable but a little slow, etc... The best thing you can do is try out different ROMs (Dutch or English versions) yourself and try to discover which one meets your needs.
Note: when you get to the stage of downloading a ROM, to find a Dutch based ROM, simply look at the headings of the ROMs listed from this link. Dutch ROMs include the abbreviation NLD in their title [NLD = Netherlands], and English ROMs have WWE in the title [WWE = World Wide English].

Mastoid is correct. Flashing to a new rom, even if you use hspl, will unfortunately not unlock the sim.
There are tools that can do that, but it is not free. You can try this one which seems to be popular and effective.

My htc HD works now with my vodafone NL simcard so its not simlocked or something i think i wrote my question wrong..
Im scared if i FLash my rom that the unlocking of my device comes back, So i can't use my vodafone NL simcard with it.
Is that possible ??

if that is the way i will flash my rom in to a nice ROM that u guys told me to do..

Flashing a rom does not affect the status of the simcard so it will still work. Just follow the Dummies Guide (link by Mastoid above) and you'll be fine

In this case the person had locked HTC Polaris and he couldn't do unlock
Also it was figured out that to do downgrade is possible by flashing a specific radio version. But this is not so scary.
I want to extract only radio ROM, flashing him and check the quality of work in the 3G network and GPS, whether it is better or worse than 1.65.30.09 on the divices that are already unlocked...

The 3rd day of a hard work including the 3G-network and so far everything is okay.
HTC Cruise became SIGNIFICANTLY economic with this radio.
In the navigation mode iGO8.3.4.142975 while using the phone (incoming and outcoming calls),
the internet and without putting it on the charger, HTC Cruise works about 3-4 hours
(comparing to 1-2 hours of radio 1.65.30.09).

On both.
Difference between POLA 100 and POLA 200 is in little not important technical detail.
Pola100 is HTC Polaris
Pola200 is o2 XDA Orbit II.
You can flash ROMs made for the Cruise (pola 100) with no problems.

It's strogly recommended to do!!
Most peoples reported good work in 3G and 2G network, without serious troubles.
And same significant saving battery power.
For me everything is working perfectly, signal is good. Flashed it with custom RUU over pcar extreme rom, without hard reset. I need time to see if battery life is better. Thanks for posting this radio!

Ok, but, for best results recommended make hard reset _after flashing radio ROM_1.65.38.14.
Especially if the previous version of the radio was 1.58, 1.59, 1,64.
Many times in this convinced.

I have used this radio for the past few days. The battery life it seems is much lesser than 1.59.46.12 that I was using. It drains if you use WI-FI or GPS. Can anyone suggest radios which have proven battery life enhancement.

I reepacked the updater for the latest radio 1.65.38.14 (for me it seemed not to enter bootloader and crashed when i used the files attached before )
So now it is working properly !!! with good results ...
I also recomand the Megan ROM(salvy's rom) -- with the proper flashing procedure it is the fastest wm 6.5 i have seen yet (and not weird looking)!!!
