[HOWTO] Step-By-Step, n00b Guide To Rooting! - Hero, G2 Touch General

I know what you're going to say, 'WTF do we need more root guides?' But this is a complete guide which has everything in it that you need to root.
Goldcarding, Downgrading, Flashing, all in one guide!
You can find my comprehensive guide at sites.google.com/site/roothtchero
(I have roothtchero,co.uk on order)
Please give me feedback and suggestions on how to improve it and I hope this will help n00bs!

Bear in mind that even my guide is not "complete" it covers almost everything but still not 100% of cases - hence why forum responses are necessary to help the minority of users through ... and having them register for another forum isn't the way to get users on your side...
My opinion is that your guide isn't particularly easy to navigate or as clear as it could be.

I really need help Flashing

I have read all the sreps but i still feel kinda iffy. I'm scared to brick my phone... can anyone help me and possible tell me what to do!
Sorry I cannot help you; however, you really need to avoid creating a new thread every time you have a question - especially if it is the same question. Read the forum rules, FAQ's, WIKI etc... There are many answers and guides available that a lot of people put a lot of time and effort into writing.
Don't worry, it all comes down to something very simple. I did it the first time myself a few weeks ago by following a thread created by Papamopps. He wrote a very good step by step instruction. You can find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369397

Designing a SPL -> HardSPL Tutorial

Hey - Sorry for crossposting, but I'm not really getting any feedback or attention on the other forum, so I'm wondering if this is a good place instead.
I am trying to make a HardSPL for my LIBRA - As far as I can tell there's none available, so I've decided to put down my step-by-step method to get there.
I would love programmers' feedback, comments, etc. - I feel that my steps could be ported to other devices to provide a stepping stone for other members of the community to help out with development/testing resources for new devices.
My post is here:

Thanks..

[WIKI] Backing up ROM steps ain't cool

Hi guys,
I'm trying to learn how to back up my phones ROM from the WIKI cos I'm a n00b but the guide in there ain't as simple or straightforward as it makes out to be.
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3078601&postcount=4
Step 4 is wrong or there are some pre-requisites to this guide missing.
Sorry to post new thread but I tried to use the WIKI for what I need and it ain't cutting it.
Can anyone please help me out by updating the WIKI or giving better instructions on how to do this?
Cheers.
So no-one knows how to backup a ROM?
I thought this was the place where HTC experts hang out?
All the steps are correct ... please try again.
No they're not correct ... where are the steps about adding the itsutils.dll to the device? I had to look at another forum (as in different to xda-developers) to find that out, plus step 4 would also make sense if it said "pdocread -l" instead of "itsutils -l".
What is the point of making a WIKI if it aint compatible for n00bs?
Back to the drawing board boys ....

[Q] rooting

I know that this is a developers forum, so I figure that I can get some good advice here. I have found this rooting procedure at android authority .com. Is it good. What is it missing
Dont need to start a new thread for what is a very popular question and has lots of other threads for it.
Suggest you try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889 if you are doing this on a Winbox.
This guide is excellent as well.

Help with my phone

Hey everyone, I'm currently trying to update my phone to maybe a new rom or something that runs a tad bit smoother than the original rom posted.
But quite frankly I have honestly no idea where to even start.
I'm using a T-Mobile Galaxy S5
Version 4.4.2
The only thing it has is being rooted.
I just don't want to mess things up.
if someone could explain the process and maybe link a guide in order from which I should follow it'll be greatly appreciated.
Also if you could recommend a rom you have experiemented with and you feel is very nice or fast please link that below also.
Sorry for asking so much ><
Newbie s5 user incoming
There are many custom ROMs, not to mention many existing threads and tutorials. So why don't you browse the forum and do some reading? You'd learn a lot more about your options and be in a much better position to ask informed questions.
It's not really in your best interests (not to mention rather presumptuous) to expect someone to write a treatise or personal guide just for you. Especially when guides and tutorials already exist if you spend a few minutes looking in the forum yourself.
If reading a few posts is somehow too much work, then pick a random custom ROM like Phoenix or Xtrestolite and follow the installation instructions in the custom ROM thread.

There. Happy?
