Xperia X2A and mouse function - XPERIA X2 General

I have the xperia x2a and was disappointed that it loses the mouse functionality yet it indicates in the user manual that this function is available. The center button only acts as a joystick and will not function as a mouse. On page 11 of 90 in the user guide it states the following:
To enable mouse simulation
1 Tap > Settings >System > Optical Joystick.
2 Mark or unmark the Enable Mouse Simulation check box.
This option is not available. This is a common and nice feature that is available on most smartphones including all blackberrys and even the xperia x1...Does anyone have the answer to this mystery as to why this option is missing yet stated in the user manual?

i think your misinterpreting it

Please tell me how I am misinterpreting it? Where is the enable mouse function in the phone? Thanks.

The optical joystick functionality has been changed with the lastes firmware.
As for X2 it NEVER had mouse on screen displayed.
Only ACTING like a mouse.

What exactly is your definition of "crazy"?
It may just need realigning - especially if it's been rough-handled, dropped or is an "older" model.
Go to settings->system->align screen and follow the prompts.
If it keeps going crazy - see this wiki page for a fix.
If you *seriously* need to disable your touch screen (which I seriously don't recommend) then just go to the align screen and keep tapping in the left hand corner when it asks you to tap elsewhere Not an official "disable" but will have the same effect
broken
My touchscreen is broken on my PDA running Windows mobile six and I'd like to use the wheel to control the mouse.
It's not the screen alignment issue. Does anyone know how to enable the wheel to control the mouse?

you could try using the VirtuaMouse One-Hand or GRemote Pro

[DISCUSS] Assigning hardware keys to touchscreen controls !

I just had an amazing idea !
Us cool Xperia Play Users NEEEEED a way to assign the hardware keys to sections of the touchscreen.
For example, on screen joysticks could be emulated with the hardware keys. -
Here's how it would work -
1) "Please touch the part of the screen you wish to assign to the D-Pad "Left""
2) "Please touch the part of the screen you wish to assign to the D-Pad "Right""
3) "Please touch the part of the screen you wish to assign to the X button"
4) "Please touch the part of the screen you wish to assign to the O button"
etc etc etc
This means that almost EVERY touch screen game would work with the hardware buttons.
Is this the best idea ever or what? !
I would donate £10 for a developer to make a decent working version of an app that can do this.
I actually had an idea for this a while ago for the iphone when the iControlPad was the apple of my eye (pre-Xperia Play).
A more robust way to do it would probably be to have an app that lets you load a screenshot of a game and then just select a button from a menu, which would drop a small dot onto the screen (maybe with a letter/symbol for the control) and you could then just drag it to the exact pinpoint location you wanted.
Add in support for uploading/downloading/swapping these (possibly even just via text strings so people could post them places like messageboards) and voila.
I don't know whether or not this kind of thing is doable on an unrooted phone or not, but I certainly hope so.
Smartphones are loaded with touchscreen games.
SE imo has made a massive overlook on this opportunity.
A phone that promotes hardware buttons, but not being able assign them to touchscreen portions of the phone !!!?!?!????!?!?!
This could of been a MASSIVE feature of the Xperia Play.
Surely some developer must be interested in doing this? !! ?

Use physical keyboard and onscreen keyboard at the same time

I have a Bluetooth bar code reader connected to the tablet and it shows up as a physical keyboard. It works great to scan information into text fields. The issue is that the onscreen keyboard doesn't show up if it is connected. Does anyone know a way to have both the onscreen keyboard show up and have a physical keyboard connected? When i googled for answers I found someone with the same issue on there zoom with 4.1 installed, they said the onscreen keyboard would still pop on 4.0 but not on 4.1 (I searched for an app that might allow this and came up with nothing )

Settings > Language & input > Default, switch the "Hardware" property to Off. works for me on Android version 4.1, It let me have both of the input types, but I have to set up this configuration every time it gets connected. Hope it helps.

[Q] accessing MENU via. Bluetooth Keyboard or mouse

Hi all,
I recently picked up the 2.0MHL to HDMI cable along with a Bluetooth mouse and Bluetooth (what appears to be Apples style) keyboard to use with my S4. So far I'm enjoying the experience in terms of uses and navigating relatively easily through the phone. Currently using NOVA as my launcher. Volume, home button, back buttons were easy to figure out. Accessing the multi-window, recent apps/task killer is not a problem. I can't however, for the life of me figure out how to access the MENU button via. the keyboard or mouse. I've done various searches and YouTube videos online and people mention how the right click doesn't access the menu but neglect to mention how to ACTUALLY access the menu. I did see 1 video where it mentioned Control P but when I had tried that, it was a shortcut to select either music player or Google play. Has anyone else had this problem? Any luck with finding the right short key? Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

I know this is a late reply to your question, but maybe I can help. I bought a mini bluetooth keyboard designed to use with windows, and for a while I had the same problem. I. could access everything on my S3 except the menu. I searched, found your post, then started randomly trying different buttons. I'm not sure if your board has this key, but it's between the right Alt and Ctrl keys, it looks like a square with an arrow pointing inside it. That`s the menu button on mine. Hope this help, and sorry for the long reply.
