The HTC calendar id really bad. When you add a new appointment you can choose the day (number), but you can't see wich day of the week is! How can we replace the HTC calendar with the nexus one ?

if you change the date format (menu, settings, date & time) to Fri, 31 Dec 2010 then you can at least see which day of the week that you are selecting but i completely agree - it's no substitute for a standard calendar-style date picker. :-(

Mine does it automatically... but I think you can configure it in Settings > Accounts & sync > Google > Sync calendar

Hi all,
playing with the Hero. I am syncing my google calendar with my Hero and anything I add to the google calendar gets sync'd down to the Hero, but if I delete something on there Hero it doesn't seem to delete it on google calendar or if I add a new date on the hero, it doesn't seem to put it in google calendar.
Any tips?

worked one bit out. I need to make sure when I add the appt, it is added to the correct calendar, not the local Hero one. Now to sort the deletion bit
I can now add dates on the hero and they appear on google calendar.

How did you solve the problem?? I have the same problem, if I create a calender event in the Hero it get synced correctly to the google web calender, but if I delete it in the Hero it will not get deleted in the google web calender.
Note that if I instead delete it in the web calender if works so the problem is only when you delete an event in the Hero.
Thanks for pointing this out... I never noticed that you need to select the correct calendar or nothing gets synced to Google and thus back down to my Mac.
Anyone know how to make a particular calendar the default or if you can delete 'My Calendar' and the 'Outlook Calendar' ? Neither of which I would use.

The mobile remembers the last calender you selected so once you added an event to the google calender it will be the default calender.

Just recived a mail from HTC Supoort that they can confirm that this is a bug in the HTC Hero calender, so I guess the solution is either to try to remove the Hero calender an installa the standard one or to wait for an update from HTC :-(
hmmm... doesn't seem to sync deleted events at all to Google. Better ensure that any deleted events are done online or on the Mac/PC Google synced calendar.
Did they say when it will be fixed ?
you can also hide the outlook and my calendar
in calendar, press menu and then calendars
here you can untick the my calendar and outlook.
and JesperDS is correct, it should remember the last one you selected when you created an item and automaticlly default to that one the next time you create one.

I have just noticed that despite having events in my Google calendar which go back many months/years (e.g Annual Leave or Shifts worked), my Hero doesnt seem to sync anything prior to Mid July 2009 in its calendar.
All that appears prior to mid July is peoples birthdays.
Anyone got any ideas how I can set it to synce EVERY event/item in my Google calendar going back several years??

Google calendar sync stopped
It started with Wi-Fi and now the same error message comes with gprs too.
The message is: "Calendar Storage has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again".
This comes after 15 sec use.

I just bought my SG and I have it setup with my exchange server at work.
I noticed when first used the calendar I had to setup a google account to use it? Why i gods name would I want a google calendar when I have exchange?
I also noticed when I create a new appointment on the phone I always have to choose which calendar I want to use.
The "my calendar" is always by default. Is there a way to change default calendar to my corporate calendar?
Or even better, delete or disable my calendar and google calendar and only use my corporate account?

The "My Calendar" is the phones calendar, so u will not be able to delete it and I cant see a way how to change the default calendar. Cause when u make an appointment in the phone, firstly it needs to put it to the phones calendar and then sync with other calendars.
Just set a sync with exchange calendar and it will send the appointments from My calendar to your exchange calendar.

Thanks for the explanation. But... I use google calendar and I want all my local appointments sync with my google account. Unfortunately when I enter a appointment in the local "my calendar" it doesn't sync with google. I have save the appointment explicitely to the "google calendar". (which is a hassle)

Looks like u are right. The sync only works when u make appointment in google calendar via web, it then sync with google calendar on your mobile, but its not happing the other way (from mobile to web).
So u have to save the appointment to google calendar and not to my calendar. Which is as u said hassle but it is kind of obvious. Because when u make an appointment in mobile and save it to my calendar and then it will sync with google calendar, u will have double appointments, u will have to disable the showing of my calendar in the settings.
So that means we will have to live with this "functionality".

Never put my Calendar items in the clouds, I'll like to keep them in my hands. Never use Google Calendar or similar.

But, do you save each calendar entry made on your sammy to your google sync then?
i sync my outlook to google calendar, this way i have both of my devices in sync
Android + PC + Windows Mobile
I've no secrets to keep, so i don't mind having my stuff on the clouds.
but anyone being paranoid about having stuff on the google servers, can always use their own home/office server for that kind of stuff.

i only use 1 calendar account, so i don't have that problem the OP has
from the calendar program, click the menu button, then select settings, then Calendars. from here you should be able to select and deselect calendars.
try this. does this make whichever calendar is remaining the default one for new entries?

Sadly not, I only have my google calendar selected, the my calendar is unchecked, yet when I create a new entry the my calendar is still the default calendar, annoying to say the least.
Calendar sync
I've been able to get the exchange sync working except for one thing - the calendar appointments are a half hour early? The time zone/time is correct on the phone, and the appointment times appear OK on an iPhone. Any ideas? Other than that it was a dream to get the exchange account set up (gotta love staff that buy unsupported corporate phones then want support)!

Did you get the google calendar working from mobile to web ? If so, what's the resolution ?
I've been banging my head against the exchange-SGS for about 72hrs now.
Coming from an WM sony X1 I was gutted to find no 'perfect' exchange on SGS. I now have my exchange a/c, 1x pop3 a/c and a hotmail a/c just about sorted now. I've found that the stock SGS calendar can be a bit iffy on calendar appointments so I removed the account, then re-installed it but with out the calendar being sync'd. I've un sync'd the calendar from the 'must have' google a/c. I'm now running touchdown just to bring in the calendar from my exchange a/c. K9 mail looks after my other pop3 & hotmail a/c.
Although nice and big the SGS calendar is i've found pure calendar widgets best for my home page at present. Its a shame that I've had to cough up dosh just to do what a WM phone does best.

Does anyone know of an app that can synchronise the "PC Sync" calendar created by HTC Sync on an Android phone to a specific Google calendar?
Secondly does any one know of a reliable calendar reminder app with a snooze function?
I've tried "Calendar Snooze" and following the last update it constantly triggers reminders even when it's been dismissed. It was the first app in over 3 months to cause me to restart my phone(!)

Thanks lukehluke...but that's not quite what I was looking for.
I use HTC Sync to sync my work Outlook calendar to my phone. My company won't allow a direct sync to my google calendar.
HTC Sync creates a new calendar on my phone that just contains my work entries. This is fine but I wanted to know if there was away to sync those entries from my phone to a Google account online .

Thanks Thibault1403...but I can't use Calendar Sync.
2 reasons;
1. My company prohibits sync'ing direct to an online account.
2. Calendar Sync will only sync with the main calendar and I wanted to sync work items to a specific "sub-Calendar" in my main account.

Well, I need my pc and my PDA sync calendars without connecting them everytime, so I discovered that if when I'm creating a new appointment in the calendar I select to save it in google calendar (My calendar default) then I see this appointment in Google calendars in my pc automatically, so I can sync it with outlook with google calendar sync.
But this only work if I select to save it in Google calendar, not in my calendar, so, can I erase "My calendar" and have only Google calendar? Or just make default google calendar it would be ok also!
The last question, can I disable that syncing Facebook account countacts put birthdays into calendar too?¿

Is there a google calendar app that comes with Froyo ?
I've been trying to sync my handset with my google account but nothing gets synced even though it says its being synced sucessfully in the settings menu.
The default calendar app looks like an HTC calendar and I dont have an icon for a google calendar anywhere. All I have is a google calendar widget which shows nothing.
I'm running a custom ROM btw.

Hmm, OK so the HTC calendar can actually sync with your google calendar. I just need to figure out why mine refuses to sync.
Could it be syncing them, but just not displaying them?
From the calendar, do menu-> more-> calendars and see if there are checkmarks next to the calendars you want to display.

Wow, I think that's the lowest posts-per-day ratio I've ever seen!!
I was going to post the same suggestion. Make sure your calendar is set to sync in settings>accounts>google, then make sure the calendar you want to see is set to sync AND display in the calendar app.
Where is the calendar you want to sync? If the calendar is aready on google, you have a problem, but if you are trying to sync, say, an outlook calendar with google, I'm pretty sure you have to import it to their servers before it will sync. I don't think the calendar stored in the phone (like the pcsync calender) or contacts that are stored in the phone will sync to your google account unless you import it.

I did a hard reset and I was able to get the sync working now. I'm thinking something probably happened when I synced with outlook initially. All of my calendars are showing up now.
