hi guys,
is there any way that I could add custom cities in the weather/clock settings?
Thanks,
Alin

(Worked for me)
the city code can be obtained from the site:
accuweather.com
(select the city you want on the site, and see the code on the address bar
(where %20 is the space character))
yep i can confirm this program works, my loacation doesnt work where i live no idea why, you haveto install to deevice memory, go to the weather site accuaweather, search your city town etc,
when you fire the program choose your country then menu add city, choose time for exampleim GMT, then middle box write the city name, then thebottom box take mine for example is EUR|UK|UK182|GRIMSBY
you will find the code you need on the end of the website address when you have searched and clicked your city maye

Hey there,
Spb Mobile Shell displays weather info from Gismeteo. Is there any way (hack, workaround, whatever) to change the weather source in MS? I've been through the forum with a search but didn't find anything.
(Yeah, I know that you can define weather sources in Spb Weather, but for the purpose of this thread I'm interested in Mobile Shell.)
Grateful for any pointers.
N.
I use weather.com for my source in mobile shell. I have the latest version of SPB weather 1.7.4, I found these instructions on the SPB forums.
1.Create \templates subfolder in Program Files\Spb Weather
Copy *.tpl file to this folder. (Use ActiveSync-Explorer for it)
2.Go to the Options of Spb Weather->Tools->Weather Sources
3.Click on Add button
4.Click on Browse button
5.Specify the folder where you placed *.tpl file
6.Select your file from this folder and Click on OK
7.Click OK Again and Again
8.Go to the Cities Tab in Options and Click to Add button
9.Select the Custom menuitem
10.Type your City name
11.Select Weather.com in Forecasts listbox
12.There you should know your city code, e.g. RSXX0091 for Saint-Petersburg, Russia
this code is mentioned in URL:
http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/hourbyhour/RSXX0091?from=36hr_topnav_business
(US users may use ZIP code as citycodes)
Enter your city code.
14.Click Ok and Ok again
15.That's all Refresh your City and you will get the weather forecast from Weather.com
Click to collapse
After doing that, the and selecting SPB weather plugin for my weather tab...the tab displays my custom city with forcast from weather.com
you can find templates here.
My apologies if I misunderstood the question, I do not think you can with MS alone, if you could...why would you need SPB weather
shutter13,
even if it was a while ago, still thanks for your contribution.

Well, indeed that's what I meant. I was hoping maybe someone might have looked into the code of Mobile Shell. Thanks anyway.

Hello, everybody
Can somebody help me to find how to disable "My location" in Home Tab? Not only choose a city instead of my location, but remove this option? I know how to put it off in the weather tab, but found no solution in the Home tab... quite annoying.
-----
ROM: Miammiam Eclipse 2.0
HTC Sense: 2_5_19211619_0 fr
To remove it go to the registry:
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\Weather.EnableCurrentLocation and change it from 1 to 0
Now you can choose a city by clicking on the clock and adding a city. It will stay on this city!
try dutty's. attached.
hope it helps.

Hello. Thanks for this cab, but it only disable current location in the weather tab, and I want to remove my location (my position) in the Clock Home Tab. In others terms, I don't want to see My location in the world clock menu when choosing the city I want. Any help

What I did was this:
- in the weather tab I set a new place, i.e. ' amsterdam'.
- on the home tab tap on the clock and select the radio button before ' amsterdam'.
now is my location not removed but I can't see it on my home tab.
Hi!
I have the same problem. I can remove "my location" under the weather tab but not under the home/clock tab.
Where's this f*** register key.
I flash the GEN.YD2R5.3 but the GEN.YD2R4.4 I hadn't this problem...
MOD EDIT - I've moved thread to General Discussion forum as not related to rom development

Actually 2, mentioned above separately:
1. HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\Weather.EnableCurrentLoca tion and change it from 1 to 0 works for removing current location from weather tab
2. Adding a location and selecting it from home screen (tab on clock, then select the city) will remove current location from Home screen.

With all due respect... the above solution did not answer the question... We are asking how to permanently remove the "My location" time from the clock screen. The method you quoted above changes the location on the home screen but when you restart, it switches back to "my location... which in my case... switches back to a wrong time...
Complete Solution
Found it!
There are two sets of registry settings.
Weather tab:
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\Weather.xxxxx
Clock / Weather home tab widget:
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\WorldClock.xxxxx
1) Add your desired city in your weather tab.
The first location will be "My Location" (LocalIndex 0)
The subsequent locations will be your cities
2) Change your clock/weather widget location:
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\WorldClock.LocalIndex=1 (or 2, or 3, if you have multiple cities)
This change will be effective on reloading your home tab.
3) - optional - Disable My Location:
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\Weather.EnableCurrentLocation=0
4) - optional if you're paranoid - disable My Location Service:
Disable My Location Service (Manila Settings Tab -> Location -
Uncheck "HTC location service"
Check "Automatically decline location service"
Disable "Improve location service by collecting location data"
5) - optional if you're paranoid^2 - Delete your cached GPS location:
Blank the following registry entries (as it caches your last GPS location) -
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\Weather.CurLocInfo
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\Weather.CurLocInfoEng
I believe the location service will use your GPS, not just cell location. See those latitude/longitude numbers with lots of decimal places in Weather.CurLocInfo? Imagine if you turned off My Location, then lost your phone together with your house keys... food for thought.

THX for your hint, it works well, realy appreciated
anyone know how to do this? I live in an area that isnt in the weather database. when I am home I get to see the weather as it gets it from My Location, but when I am not there, I cant find any way to save the current My Location in the main list.
Anyone got any ideas on how to do this? Should be a 'Menu/ Add Current Location' Option
Search weather database editor and you should find an app that lets you edit and add new cities as you like.

There is a special version of weather database editor for the TP2 ( i think it"s the 2.2) You can give it a try.
But some reports says it doesn't work for all TP2 users. You can corrupt your database, so you must backup your database before.
i know about the editing of the weather database, what I am looking for is a simple add on to the menu that allows me to ADD wherever I currently am.
Me TOO!
I am looking for the same thing. How to add 'where I'm at right now' to the list of places I get weather for. It's not in the database. Where is this 2.2 weather database editor? Is it in the registry?
You can add just about any place you want to the weather database using the editor found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546141.
It won't add your current location automatically, but it will let you do so manually as long as you know where you are.
accuweathercode
How to I find out the Accuweathercode for the city I want to add?
Go to settings and enable the AGPS service.
Enable the Location Service Settings
Enable Location Service
After that, go to the home screen and tap/click on your clock and select "my location".
This will enable the weather to be on "my location" and it will update regularly based on the intervals that you determine.
Hope it helps.

the above link will let me add my city to the 'stock" weather tab on the tilt 2 (att) correct?

have you tried installing .NET Compact Framework 3.5? check this out.
check the first forum in applications and themes category.
the link in post #6 will enable you to add your city. But I am looking for some settings that will change the city automatically based on your location. Found that it wont work in CDMA but does work in Tilt2.
Thanks, I got it to work.
I have been able to clear all the unwanted cities and disable the current location on my rom as I do not need them. I now want to set the city of my choice on first boot. Every time I try it on the clock I get my location instead of the city and I then have to go in and select the city from the list. The reg keys I use are:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"Weather.EnableCurrentLocation"=dword:0
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"Weather.CityList"="EUR|UK|UK002|BELFAST"
"AccuWeatherCode"="EUR|UK|UK002|BELFAST"
"CityName"="Belfast"
"Weather.CurrentCity"=dword:1 - This sets the city you want as default in weather tab
"WorldClock.Location"=dword:1 - This sets the city you want as default in the home clock
Solved: the above entries worked perfectly for me. As soon as I booted the phone up. It automaticly set the time and set the city to Belfast. HD2Owner was right. Newtownards was not in the manilla file. I will have to edit the file at a later date.
I have the HD2 and using the leo 3.14/1.66 base which is my own mix and sense 2018! using osKitchen Zero
GhostXSeries, concerning your custom first boot settings (I mean all your questions - not only the city but 24 hours and other things like WiFi, facebook, twitter, mail and other things setup, owner name and so on).
I don't know what kitchen do you use - so - general proposal:
Flash rom, than make full registry backup without setting up anything (Resco Registry or Registry Workshop on PC)
Than - adjust everything, set up all your stuff, restart device and than make the second registry backup.
Compare both registry backups (with CompareIt or other program). Save the difference to one rgu file. Create package with this rgu and simply cook it in next time you make the rom.
Cool will do, forgot to mention I use oskitchen.
I was able to se the time ok to 24 hours. I got the registery keys for that!
did you know that osbuilder supports registry preview...? (including or excluding provxml on preview possible)
anyways... check out this key after setting up your phone...
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"Weather.CurLocInfo"=""
also make sure you use specific weather database for every lang (that differs for regions).
weather database file is 2330fc3c_manila.
there is also a weather database editor on xda to add more cities.
You were close but that reg key doesn't exist on my device. I did find what I needed though. There were two extra entries I needed:
"Weather.CurrentCity"=dword:1 - This sets the city you want as default in weather tab
"WorldClock.Location"=dword:1 - This sets the city you want as default in the home clock
Hi, I'm looking for an app or widget that would let me create link for a quick search of a preset website, just like you can do it on your PC. For example, you can right click on a search box and choose "add as search engine" and then when you type it in the address bar it will take you directly to results.. so what the app should do android? after clicking on a icon of the webstie (let's say BBC) it will open a popup with a keyboard on where i will type my search phrase - let's say new york and after pressing enter/OK it will redirect me to www.bbc.com/search/ [1] where %20 is the new york phrase. I hope I explained it well
