With recent tests of froyo on the nexus showing 450% speed incease over eclair.
Is there any thought of if it could be ported to older devices like the mytouch?
especially seeing as tmobile probaly wont roll out 2.1 for at least another month or so.
Sorry, stupid question

To be honest...
I think 2.1 is as far as the HTC Magic will go.... I think that both T-Mobile AND HTC is going to stop major Android updates to HTC Magic, when 2.1 is out...
But long live the custom ROMS! If its possibles for Magic's hardware to run 2.2 then the XDA devs will make it possible!

i learnt one thing after getting wf ...tht if u opt for android device then go for high end phone never mind as an android beginer am happy with the phone and regarding performance speed will definitely increase once we get froyo not to worry
it is my first android but its still really upsetting u know :/
The wildfire is already running flash now so it should be able to have flash 10

Virgin media said early September...
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
yeah ive seen that but mine is unlocked version its not virgin. so is it still the same date?
wildfire will not have froyo update. said on the site gizmodo
Yes it will have it.
Look at the Wildfire specification on China HTC site. I can't attach links to other pages.
HTC Spain confirm that we will have 2.2 update late september.
gizmodo are just fags! they are probably apple spys! Oo
WE WILL HAVE FROYO! or ill prosecute google for being ignorent
But i read that Hero can handle Flash 10.1 and it has ARM v6 too
Froyo without flash it's ok for me..
Apps to sd by native and more speed (by 4-5 times) are more important for me.
I agree completly with that.
I realy hope that we will get froyo during the following 10 days...
http://www.bgr.com/2010/11/05/htc-legend-getting-android-2-2-in-coming-weeks/
I wonder if this can be leveraged for an even better (with official drivers and all) version of 2.2 for the Hero? Isn't the Legend very similar in specs as the Hero?
this is what we have all been waiting for! this will make our port go 100000x faster.
Yeah!! Lets See What Next!
awesome a faster way to a 2.2 sense rom!! epic win!
I can't wait for this to happen

Sorry if I sound idiotic, but could someone explain what's different between Gingerbread and Froyo? Just trying to figure out what the benefits are of using Gingerbread compared to another build. Also, does Gingerbread have Sense? Thanks!
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App.
Neither FroYo or Gingerbread come with Sense - they have nothing to do with it. If you use a build from a device that has Sense, such as Desire HD, then you will get Sense. If you use something like a Nexus One build then you won't.
As for the differences between FroYo and Gingerbread, look here.
Thanks, man!

There is finally a leaked rom of one of the new HTC devices. Maybe it can be ported by the developers. Not sure though because the device has an other screen resolution and diffrent cpu. This is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973346

Just thought I'd let you all know that I've started work on a 2.3 sense port using this and the other leak that was posted some time ago.
I've gotten most of the software to work, just need to work some more on the hardware before I can release.
w00t, always good news when you're involved with a ROM.

well than you my friend, are gonna be one of my new favorite dev. cause i've waited for one to grab it before i do. thanks for this post x)
Sounds good, but would this be for a wildfire, I am really keen to update to the latest version of Gingerbread and I am annoyed there is nothing official and this is why I am wondering whether this kind of rom might be suitable or whether I should try the wildfire s leaked version, and I am keen to help test when things get going if it would help.

Hello guys i am new here so excuse me if someone already wrote something about this.
is there any ice cream sandwitch rom with latest htc sense?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
None yet and there may not ever be. There will not be any drivers to hack to make it work as GB only got better because of the Desire source code. Note since that service will not see any more updates then we are out of luck.
Now someone may find a way but for now it's unlikely

Actually, there will definitely be a ICS ROM with sense. But you will have to wait. The reason being, HTC will launch new devices come this Q2 and Sense 4.0 is slated to be running on those devices. Such devices include the Ville, Edge, etc. So when those devices are released at the upcoming GSMA WMC on 27th February. You can expect a port a few days after that since there is bound to be someone posting the dump files and source code. This is how our sense 2.0 and 3.0 ROMs came about on our HD2s and its the only way. Custom building a ICS and Sense ROM from scratch is no easy task and like what chrisrj28 said above, it might not be possible for the devs.

Here is your answer.its here in xda and it wont be long before u see a hd2 port.when i say it wont be long,i mean its only a matter of days.just wait a bit longer mate
A RUU of ics with sense 4.0 of HTC Endeavour just leaked
Hope this is done soon. There is a port of the Sensation ICS Sense Rom for the myTouch 4G Slide.

It's good news, cant wait
I hope we must wait a little more, but for me, there are too many ICS roms without Sense in XDA.
I like Sense, so I prefer to wait as long as necessary, instead of install ics non sense plenty of bugs.
If I bought an HTC, I like to watch Sense in the screen, if not, I can have another device, Samsung, LG, Motorola.....
ICS without sense better then 2.3 with sense.

I think the biggest issue is a kernel to boot the sense ICS, and there is no doubt HD2 will be running sense ICS
On Sensation already..
I think we should request some of the HD2 chief chefs need to come together for us... it is here now on Sensation, working .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513055
IMHO hd2 can't stand ics with sense...too heavy!....that's for quad-core devices!! the 2.3 sense is too much for our "old" hardware, too....
even if our fantastic hd2 is the best phone in the world, his hardware is going to be old...I think that it's arrived at the end of its possibilities with ics...
I have the US HD2 and it runs 2.3.5 Sense 3.5 just fine. No major issues at all. Also the HTC One V has specs not too far from the HD2 will be on sense 4.0.

Yeah initial hands on show that Sense 4.0/ICS do not perform as well as the big phones but it is adequate enough. And that is without the mods and customizations that Devs here are capable of.
The biggest issue will be drivers
Any news? Or I am missing something?
