Did anyone tried the new upgrade yet? From reading comments it appears that people are having mixed results. I am on the stock ROM, using 2010 on my PC and having problems syncing One Note.
How is this different from stock Office?

Stockholm, August 21 2006.
Dear Forum:
We have a C# application running on older Smartphone models
(MS Windows 2003SE for Smartphone) where both WM5.0 and PDAs
are "overkill".
The Smartphone gets input data from a barcode scanner via
bluetooth (SPP serial profile), forwards the data via GPRS to
a webserver which validates & replies with a beep + ascii-text.
Now, at the end of a transaction, we need to send ascii-text
not to the Smartphone display but rather to a portable printer
at the remote location - preferably also pushed out from the
Smartphone via bluetooth to the mobile printer.
The REAL snag is that 99% of the market only use PDAs so the
hardware manufacturers themselves have no drivers which can
be used on Win 2003SE Smartphone OS (only PPC/WinCE or WM5.0)
and consequently we need to find a workaround to solve this.
[A] Using FieldSoftware's SmartphonePrint which does allow
for bluetooth printing to some models, but it only can print
PIM elements unfortunately.
In that case, we thought of using the Smartphone PIM task
+ Notes attached to a Task, as the text to print, but this
mean we must create a Task+Notes on-the-fly programmatically
deleting any previous ones in the process, AND launch the
3rd-party SmartphonePrint sequence without user interaction!!
Does anyone now how this could be done simply?
Else, has anyone seen any other Smartphone 2003 print
utility from "way back when" ??
[C] Better yet, would anyone knows of any usable drivers?!?
so we indeed could integrate the printing to our C# application
(deployed from MS Visual Studio 2005 Professional), and bypass
the need for a 3rd-party software, which is harder to control
AND which would lead to resorting to end-user action...
Grateful for any suggestions, albeit in priority C > B > A !
Brgds,
/Per Hagman
==============================================================
PS-1:
There are two-three well-known 3rd-party suppliers of standard
software for printing from an older Smartphone such as Qtek8080
or imate SP3 - aka SPV/Xphone/SDA/SMT5600 etc, namely:
FieldSoftware -- www.fieldsoftware.com/smartphoneprintfull.htm
JetCet -- www.westtek.com/smartphone/jetcet (only IrDA!)
PrintBoy -- www.bachmannsoftware.com/pbce.htm (only MS Mobile 5.0?)
Although articles, forums etc. indicate that PrintBoy works on
both PDA and Smartphones, its CAB-file doesn't install on our
MS Win 2003SE Smartphone...
Repligo 2.0 for Smartphones looks like another method, but we
will have to doublecheck if the HP printing is possible for
the portable printers that are available... ???
www.cerience.com/products/smp/index.htm
www.cerience.com/docs/smp/docs/index.htm#Printing
There are a number of small portable mobile printers available
on the market, many conveniently eqipped with a bluetooth
interface -- these printers are ok for field-service printing
For a visual near-complete listing, see again:
www.fieldsoftware.com/PrintersSupported.htm
PS-2:
There is also ActivePrint for PDA printing while docked, and
it might work for Smartphones. However, it doen't really apply
for printing at remote locations (or in a delivery truck) using
small mobile printers,,,
www.activeprint.pocketwatchsoftware.com/news/2006.04.04.htm
Finally at www.print4mobile.com/Engine.htm we found a system
for printing more sophisticated database-driven report prints
which is a clear overkill for us at this stage, and still we
cannot see how they would handle the lacking mobile printer drivers...
Note:
HP has discontinued its Win Smartphone 2003SE package in late 2005:

However, here's a download link:
www.yse-uk.com/download/details.php?file=37
So this web site is is crowing about new versions of windows live apps, with more (or reinstated) features like photo upload and live messenger... but all the download links lead in a circle (when they don't get caught by the popup blocker).
Does anyone have an actual download of these apps?
http://www.windowsliveformobile.com/en-us/home/default.aspx
If you're referring to what I think you are referring to, I don't they are out yet
No wonder the web site looks like it's half finished. Whoever set it to live should be fired.
And dude. Hi, neighbor.
i think it will show up here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/mobile/wl/download-en-us.mspx
right now they have 10.6.0042.800
but i remember reading somewhete that they will be releasing a new version on thursday, thats tomrrow, so i'm waiting to see what they have instore for the new version. plus the funny thing is in build 6.5 21198 they 10.6.0052.900 so it might be that build they're talking about. the 0052.900 build is not much different from the other builds but i do like the slide left/right functionality though.

http://mobile.microsoft.com/live/En-US/mobile/default.mspx
Version is v10.06.0046.0800
Older than the latest that is around here, v10.06.0050.2700
Anybody want to confirm messenger will indeed install (on Verizon). If not I will keep what I have.
edit: yeah it works sweet! Now if only I can find what changed/fixed from the version I used to have...
Installed on my VZW XV6900.
Will there ever be
A version that actually works and does not come up with the network connection issue ?
seems to work well....actually fixed an issue I had with the stock Touch Pro ROM (the new one) where Messenger didn't work on my phone (it would close immediately after opening).
installed and so far it is working great. no problems at (soft reset after instll). it seems scrolling large emails filled with images have been improved but really not sure about that, maybe its just the speed of the 21198 build. but all in all its great. i wish they had the dinamic backgrounds like they have on the desktop.

Looks good, thanks!
Wait, where is this latest version? I searched for that version number, but nothing is coming up.
Has anyone figured out how to get the photo upload to work? Uploading photos to your live space is advertised as a feature, but I don't see any kind of interface for it.

You can download it from the marketplace, or you can visit these posts for a .cab.
Below is a link to the marketplace where you can get it.

If you're serious about running business-quality software on your PDA, try Softmaker Office instead. It's what mobile documents should be. Even the MS desktop version has very, very little over the mobile version of Softmaker. And the desktop version of Softmaker is every bit as good as MS Office in all respects. And for about $80 you get a license for both the desktop and PPC versions.
Thanks to All. I could have checked Marketplace before asking. Sorry about that.
I couldn't imagine the Beta would be available there for download.
Thank to all of you guys.

Are you in the States?
I have the same problem - it isn't listed in Marketplace, but I am in Canada. I am running an old HTC S620 with a 3VO 6.5 cooked ROM (which runs great and indentifies itself as a 6.5 device)
I have heard that it is only available in the States currently. I am now running the Office 2010 Beta on my desktop (and love it - was using 2003 PRO)

Yes, I second this - Soft Maker has been indispensable for mobile document processing. Its worth every penny you plan to spend!
hi guys,
i recently got an ipaq hw6965. but i do have installer of Microsoft Office Mobile 6.1 for my ipaq 912.
the thing is, i like better using 69xx because its size is bigger from 91x, but i do using word mobile quite often and all of my document i'm working on is *.docx/*.xlsx which is office mobile 5 does not have capabilities to read or edit the file.
i tried to installed the office 6.1, at first there is no problem on installing progress, after a soft reset, the office mobile 5 is no longer available, but when i click on word mobile there was no responses at all, i also cannot run other office mobile application (excel and powerpoint) but i can run smoothly microsoft onenote mobile which came from office mobile 6.1 package.
so my question are, can i remove (uninstall) mobile office 5? how?
thx
