It gets worse... 4G is gonna cost us $10 a month, it looks like... And not sure if its an option for the plan or not, it may just be an addon for buying the phone...
Looks like we get video chat!!!!

UPDATE*:
It might be that the $10 add-on is for Business Plans that only pay 59.99 a month.... Lets for f*** sake hope thats what they mean.
Am I correct in understanding this? You $100 mail-in rebate. You get $150 off for signing a 2 year contract. If you are eligible for the $150 upgrade rebate can you use this as well so that the cost would only be $49 after the mail-in rebate?
I have only a few mths into my new contract and I got the Hero in october. I'll be paying full price for one.
fail.
But it seems that I'll be able to get a pretty penny for mine on ebay. Especially since its been in a full phone screen protector since I bought it.

Its still only 80 dollars a month for "4G" plus free mobile to mobile, text messages, and data.
Not the end of the world.
$10 for 4g isn't bad. They said it wouldn't cost more but at least it's somewhat reasonable.
Charging that for every evo regardless if that service is available or not is about the dumbest thing could do and will cost them subs they so desperately need right now.
I'm really not sure if I'm willing too pay an extra $120 pet year without 4g service.

This is the problem that I see. A ton of people want this phone but don't live in 4G, yet are charged for it... Kinda sucks. But I guess it's the same if you live in 1x, and you buy a smartphone, you still pay 3g.

Wow!! Rebates are now going to take longer than normal. Soon it's going to be 1 yr before you get a rebate
Wait and see what Wirefly and Amazon offer.I think they had the Droid Incredible for $149 or $199 flat out no rebates on Amazon.
So that $150 off they mention is for agreeing to a 2 year contract and not using your upgrade rebate? That would mean you could get it for $49 after the mail-in rebate if you are eligible for the upgrade rebate. That would be a great price!

i'm thinking this same thing. might have to do this deal later this afternoon, especially if i could just switch it back to an EM+ plan after canceling the contract
That would be a great price. Get a new contract for .01 convert to em+ don't even need to cancel I think and etf phone at 200.01 and the best prices in industry. Shame I already bought mine.

Read Amazon's fine print. If you take this deal and cancle your contract with T-Mobile in less than 181 days, Amazon will bill you an extra $250. That is in addition to T-Mobile charging you the early termination fee.

Good to know, thanks

EDIT: The phone seems to be back in stock online. Still says ships in 8-9 days.
Amazon.com just got the EPIC 4G on their site for preorders, it's $199.99 with new contract, or $499.99 without any service. Best deals I've seen anywhere. If these don't sell out, I bet it'll hit $150 by september 1st. This is just great if you are a new customer on Sprint.

Kinda blows if you're an existing one though...
Does sprint allow you to cancel and then sign up as a new contract? Because of the pro-rating of their cancellation fees, it would be significantly cheaper to get the discounted Amazon phone (even better if it follows the other Galaxy S phone pricing) than it would be to buy the unsubsidized Epic.

You mean cancel your current sprint plan, then take the amazon.com epic deal with a brand new contract? I think you can do that. However like you said, there is the prorated early termination fee, and you also need to consider that you would of course lose your current phone number. You could of course also switch to a prepaid account with some other carrier for a week or so though, and just port your number over a lot, but that could be a bit risky/flawed.
If you wanted to buy a cheap amazon epic 4g then cancel right after though, you'd pay a ton, amazon.com would hit you with early cancel charges, as would sprint.
If you cancel your contract, you have to wait 90 days before you can qualify for new customer pricing on devices.

Yes, I meant the first part. Cancel my sprint contract (and risk losing the #), then rejoin sprint on the cheaper (possibly much cheaper) amazon phone deal. Switching phone numbers isnt always a bad thing.
$199 wow! Way to stick it to Wirefly and their cheapo $10 off price.
I'm currently on the $30 SERO plan, and converting to either a 5-line EPRP, or a 5-line corporate discount plan. I guess there's no way in hell I can do either one thru Amazon.

Aha, thanks for the definitive answer. Could a family member qualify immediately? We don't share a last name.
Oh man Amazon is annoying, is there any way to see the final review order page without submitting the credit check info? I'd assume they don't actually perform the credit check until you submit the order, but I'd rather not take that risk, especially just to see a check-out price! I just want to see if they charge taxes and activation.

It has to go under someone else's social security number. That's all.
It says "currently unavailable" now...
this should be the sprint price for it, no mail in rebate.
I'm kinda regretting reserving through Radioshack now!
$250 + taxes comes out to around $270. I'm assuming Amazon will provide Prime shipping and next day shipping being around $20 bucks.
Can't refund the $50 deposit i put for the pre-order through Radioshack either. :|
How much is Sprint's early contract termination fee?
im trying to buy it on amazon. apparently there's no option to add a new line to an existing account. if there is can some1 point me out to it. all im seeing are the options to buy it for 500 as an existing customer or 199 as a new customer

radioshack has 10 dollar off coupons, so its 240 + tax. I would do amazon, but with 2 phones, it will be a hassle, so I'm doing radioshack for ease of return if there are any problems.

From what I was told at the Sprint store, its a total of $240 early termination, or $10 a month, for each of the 24 months of the 2 year contract.
The longer you have the contract, the lower the termination fee is.
Does Amazon charge an activation fee of $36 per line? Also has anyone purchased from them before? Just wondering if they would actually ship the phone on 8/31 and if the return policy is any good? Thanks in advance.
Wassup guys,
Im very interested in buying a G2, ive been using my HD2 for 3 months now, and have been running android on it. But ive decided its time for a new phone. I am very interested in buying the G2 how much did it cost you out the door? Right now i have $180 so im trying to come up with the rest but im just wondering how much more is it going to cost me. Im due for an upgrade on t-mobile so im updating my line i live in california.
Thanks,
Cali
Really depend on the plan you have. I have even more plus plan with $295 credit available and its gonna cost me $257 and some change when I get it on Wednesday and heard that radio shack has it for 149 with 2year contract, so best to go there for you since you will be upgrading on a contract. I don't have a contract
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G using XDA App
it cost me a hug and a thank you. got it as a present
a kidney and half of a liver... also a quarter of my pay check... also twice of what my wife allows me to spend in a month ><
It cost me $100 in birthday money, $140 for about 2 hours of computer sidework and $7 out of my own pocket.
I live outside the US, so I could only depend on some conscious importers or I will have to take the pricier Desire Z
Suppose the no contract full price in the States is 500, that's reasonable enough for me, just hope the shipping plus markup won 't be extorting
i talked to some guy that worked at tmobile on the phone he told me that it was gonna cost me $250 for the phone w/ a $50 mail in rebate that ill get back in the mail, then $18 for an upgrade fee, and around $40 in sales tax.. so around $300... did anyone pay this ammount? im on a family plan and im upgrading
and i checked radio shacks website and its not even on there lol

When T-Mobile's site started taking preorders it was $249 w/ a $50 mail in rebate which was good through 9/30, I believe. So yeah there's some that did pay it.
Cost me $99 + tax. I had to renew a 2 year contract. That's before rebate, so possibly could go down to $49 and tax.

A few over on the Slickdeals forums managed to get it for that price by going through and threatening to cancel first.
I got mine for $149 through tmobile. I called the retention dept over at tmobile and told them i got a flyer stating $100 off any phone upgrade. They did some digging and then told me it can only be applied to existing phones. The rep then said they could offer me a better deal and that's how the $149 came about. And payments are spread over 4 months.

I got it for that price. It was 176 down and 3 or 4 monthly payments of $40. Then a $50 rebate on top of that.
And that's cuz I upgraded to the HD2 in March when it launched, BOGO.
Did the EIP, but it'll cost me 552 total.
Around 500, which is what I'll be paying extra over the course of two years if I switched from the Even More Plus plan to the Even More (if I could even do that, but don't tell me I can't because that'll shatter my dream) as it would $20 extra per month for 2 years ($480).
I paid half my fortune (broke college student, heh). All my savings are gone, time to save up for another 2 years.
It's cool, T-Mobile announced HSPA+ in San Jose today
Not entirely true. Depends on how you do it. If you upgrade, yes, its 199. But with my situation, I just added a new line to my account, and it was 149.00

Someone said Wirefly requires you keep data service for at least 6 months - not sure though - something to check into if you don't plan on keeping data.
I'll be pre ordering mine tomorrow! - Though its probably not necessary as lots of places near by will be getting them and I doubt there will be a huge amount of people waiting to get one at the current price - but just to be safe haha.

thats only for under contract deals. ive ordered from them before so i know the process. when you order a device at a subsidized price (lets say an evo) you can get it at a lower price than other places. At Sprint its on sale for 199 but if you get it at wirefly then its 149.99 with a 2 year contract. The thing is you have to have their service uninterrupted for 6 months or you pay an ETF. With something thats not in a contract you are only obligated for that one month and you are out of their hands.

Give them a call or live chat. You must keep the data plan for at least 6 months, or be charged $300 Wirefly ETF

Yeah, don't but from wirefly, they require a 6 month contract with no benefit to you. They probably don't even have them and just resell for verizon but get the activation credit, hence you having a contract.
Its unfortunate that there was no mention of that wifi model. Damn.

I'll call to ask about that 1 year contract. I bet there is a catch. Such as having to use a 50$ a month plan. I can't imagine they would give you 300$ off on the 20$ a month plan, as that would be only 120$ over the course of a year. Speaking of this. I would probably get a data plan permanently if they rolled data over.
You mean 240$?

$300 off the price? That's not a bad deal if you can get the $20/month plan. $500 + roughly $275 plus taxes over the course of 12 months versus $800 + $55 plus taxes all at once.
Reading from "Best Buy News" which I assume is something internal, the girl in mobile confirmed that only month-to-month data plans were available from Verizon at this time. She confirmed that they have ZERO word of any sort of 1 year or 2 year commitment or subsidy.

All I know is if I ordered through the premier site (business line) I qualified for an immediate 100 discount, which means I would get the same discount in stores. Could be the fact that I have a business line, but I'm not sure.
Granted, it looks like I'll be buying mine at a 3rd party reseller today since he's supposed to get it in stock and always does a sale before the release date if he can.
Also as far as I know it's $299 before a $100 MIR and AT&T lets you get the rebate on an off contract device if you have the qualifiers for data also. Which I will since I have my data plan and messaging plan.
naturefreak,
Have you found any stores local to you that are willing to sell you the phone today? I'm headed to Town Center in a couple hours..
My local store is selling it for $499 off contract OR $199 plus a $200 dollar upgrade fee. So buying off contract would cost me about 533 with tax, the other option would be about 412 but lock me into another 2 years. decisions decisions.
Pay $499 and submit the rebate for $100 back... that's what I'd try at least. As long as you have a qualifying voice/data plan I don't see why the rebate company would deny your $100 rebate...

Nothing in Boca, Phone Super Store in Boynton is supposed to get it today. I've got myself on their list. They should call me the moment it arrives, I'm happy I work around the corner from there.
I'm not too worried either way. I plan on showing the lady in the store tomorrow that I can order it on Premier and get an instant $100 discount and see what she says. If she gives me a hard time I'll just pay the $100 and submit the rebate form. I'm pretty sure the rebate company will give me the $100, but if by chance they don't.. no big loss. By the way, who did you ask about the $100 rebate if paying $499.. some person in the store or at telesales?

Hey, that worked 2 years ago when I bought my Bold 9000 at full retail. I swear I buy phones way too often. Since I bought that phone I have had the 9700, the Backflip, the SE C905A, the Motorola Backflip, and now the Nexus one. Next up is clearly the beast of a machine Atrix.

My local store is selling it for $499 off contract OR $199 plus a $200 dollar upgrade fee. So buying off contract would cost me about 533 with tax, the other option would be about 412 but lock me into another 2 years. decisions decisions.

$200 upgrade fee? That's highway robbery!
