I have the same problem with the local weather update, but I havent installed anything recently.
Cheers ... FF ...
Have tried several rom's lately, with all of them I have the same problem. The home city seems not to be found, other cities upgrade well in weather tab. Tried everything, agreed google maps, activated AGPS, etc.
Can this be caused by new version of browser, google maps or anything else??
Maybe some cooks have the answer.
search for adding towns to the sense database.
edit here ya go, did the legwork for ya.

Hi Samsamual, thanks but adding other towns isnt the problem. For some unknown reason the location "my location" dosnt update, all the other places update fine. Its a bit of a bummer because its the "my location" info that is displayed as an animation on the home screen. Does any one know how to change which location is displayed on the home screen?
Cheers ... FF ...
make sure location services are active,,,
settings menu all settings system location service, and on the weather tab make sure my location is activated.

OK, when I looked there (had previously done so) all looked fine, however with what you say its made me notice I dont have a weather tab. The only things are Location Service settings ->Impove location service.... (on) and Programs that use Location Service-> HTC location service ... Ticked.
no i meant in sense weather tab, not a tab within location services.
when you set up weatheron the sense weather tab, you click menu, enable my location, accept the google yes/no screen.

assuming you mean when you go to the weather tab and click menu, there isnt an option to 'enable my location', then you already enabled it and your problem is something else. Did you turn on location services in settings menu all settings system?

Yes, its almost as if it cant work out my location and therefore cant download the relevant info. I have added my local town to the locations and thats fine, but as I say its the "my location" weather that is displayed on the home screen (or not as is the case now).

Flashed a new ROM, all working now.

How can I disable this feature in the clock? The clock randomly goes to my location instead of to my added location. I disabled My location in the weather tab already, now I want to get rid of it in the clock also.

How have you disabled my location? In the weather tab , I don't see "My location" ?
Wouln't you just go to the settings tab, click location and disable the service, im new though so havent had much of a chance to play with it.
If you disable the location service in settings, the only thing that happens is that "my location" will not be updated anymore (nor in the weather tab nor in the clock). What I mean is the following:
1.Tapping on the clock shows My Location and other added cities
2. On the weather tab you also have My Location and your own added cities.
I know how to disable My Location on the weather tab, either through a reg modification or Dutty's cab. But I don't know how to do that with the clock (could not find a key for that). And that's bugging me because after each soft reset the weather location in the clock changes to "My Location" instead of my self-choosen city. And because I have disabled the location service and My Location in the weather tab, it will not be updated anymore (of course) and I have to manually switch back everytime to my city of preference.
Nobody has a clue how to do this?? It's really annoying to change manually to my preferred location after every soft reset

Sounds to me like that's your problem right there!
I've disabled it in my weather tab, so it's simply not there, but it's still in my list of clocks. However, I have a city that I added myself as the default clock location, and this is always the selected one when I reset the phone.
The default behaviour is not to reset it to the "my location" location, as yours does. So, removing "my location" is not what's needed. You need it to stop defaulting to it.

Not quite, I also disabled My Location from Weather (using Dutty's), but after a reset the clock insists on going to My Location, instead of the chosen city.
That option is available in the settings menu, data settings and and time synchronization.

Up up up !
After an hard reset last week I noticed this fu..ing bug and did the same : disabled my location in meteo tab, and now I'm still looking for an answer.
Sometimes you can spend hours and hours on the Net for some stupid bug, looking for a mystery registry key
Is this the solution ?

And I said to myself : it's quite late now but... this is it.
I finally found (I hope so) the solution, from Inks (thank you by the way) here :
HTC Blackstone: Touch HD > Touch HD General > How to remove My location in home tab (post 19)
It worked for me for the moment, but I didn't refresh meteo this evening as I'm abroad and not using 3G-GPRS when roaming. We'll see when I'll be back home with an active data connection... I hope it won't piss me again.

One of the problems that I've read is that of "My Location". After a bit of searching I found a tool that allows you to add more cities to the default list:
Manila 2.1 and 2.5 Weather Editor PPC Edition - xda-developers
Install that application to your phone and then go here AccuWeather.com - US Weather Forecast Search - Local Weather Forecasts
In the "Internation Location" enter the town/city that you live in (I'll use Worcester) and press "GO!".
Click on the relevant link (Worcester, United Kingdom (Worcestershire, England)).
In the URL you'll see loccode=EUR|UK|UK248|Worcester. We're interested in the EUR|UK|UK248|Worcester bit.
Open "Weather City Editor" on the HD2.
Choose "United Kingdom" from the "Country" drop down.
Press "Add City".
Choose (GMT) in "Time Zone".
Type Worcester in "City".
Type EUR|UK|UK248|WORCESTER in "AccuWeatherCode".
Press "Add".
At this point you can either add more cities or exit the application.
Restart your phone.
Now, go to the "Weather" application on the slide menu.
Choose "Menu" > "Add Location".
Start typing Worcester.
When you see it appear in the list, choose it (make sure it's the United Kingdom one :grin.
Press "Update Now".
Slide back to the "Home" screen and press on the clock. You should get to the "World Clock" screen.
Choose the "Worcester" radio button.
Press "Back".
It may take a few minutes for the animations to show up on the "Home" screen.

Now I was going to do this to see if it works, but to install the first app I need to go through the hassle of installing the .net compact framework, which frankly I can't be bothered to do. I did try searching through the windows directory for the xml file and found "Weather_Pages.xml" but I don't think it relates in any way to add city codes in it.
Does anyone have any idea which xml file I have to find and edit to add more location codes?
Thanks
Installing .NET framework probably takes less time than writing this post.
You have a solution - yet you choose not to use it because you're too lazy to install something that's needed anyway? Sorry, I can not understand your reasoning.
And it works very well too
AND... the author says you probably only need .Net 2.0 which is already on your phone.
Many thanks for this. Works a treat on my HD2. My Location never really worked for me in the small town I live in. This has provided a better solution. Cheers! mate.
why cant this crappy weather "my location" not just use google maps or just my f*cking GPS? Google maps finds my exact location in a sec even if I'm inside (almost everytime) and my GPS function works splendid, but the "my location" always shows some ****ty town 10 kilometres away. Its f*cking annoying. Sorry for the swearing but the h*ll were the developers thinking?????
"Okay, lets see, lets make a weather app!! yeah, good idea, lets also put in a GPS, but we should definitely not combine the two"
OMFG - I love my HTC but this app is making me dizzy, gonna disable it using duttys
I have been able to add my location and when I go to weather, it updates fine and shows the current weather. Right now it is cloudy. However, on the homepage under the clock, it keeps showing rain no matter what. The temp seems the same but the weather that is showing is not the accurate. How can I fix this?

Make sure the clock is not set to My Location, but to the same city as the weather tab.
Add locations
Been Playing with my new HD2 over the weekend and the my location works perfectly in a regional town in Australia but I can't manually add the towns into the weather tab to monior weather in nearby regional centres. The add loations only has major cities but the my location successfully finds all towns I have visited so far which arent avalable to be added as locations and returned the correct weather settings. If the my location is able to retrieve the weather there must be a way to get one of these towns permenantly added to my locations list so I can check the weather in other parts of the country outside capital cities.
My first post on this forum is a big thank you!!.
I'm very shallow and wanted the weather working or it was going back and I was going to get an iPhone instead.
Weather is now working for my town
How do I get it to display the days and weather description instead of IDS_Home_State_0 etc?
Thanks
My second post is I must learn to tell the difference between the / in a URL and the | that the instructions gave
All fixed, even happier now!
I'm sure I must appear really dumb here but where on the HD2 do I go to add my city?
Hi,
can anyone please give me a brief feedback if this tool works with the latest official rom release 1.66? Maybe he/she can even tell me his/her exp with a german device because I read alot about problems regarding sence & manila crashes in a german pocket pc forum (don't know if it is allowed to post the adress here, anyone may get it per PM). And I would appreciate to miss another hard reset
Thanks in advance!
Lars
Uhoh,
I used this app and first time it worked fine.
Second time, I've now lost the whole home screen and all options.
All I have is the start menu and icons across the top and the phone/contacts buttons at the bottom.
I assume this is because the editor disables touch flo 3d and htc sense when it starts and hasn't re-enabled them. Anyone point me in the right direction as to how to turn them back on?
Ta!
Sorted: Just had to go to the today settings and re-enable htc sense.
You have to turn Sence back on in....
Settings > Home > Items and put an X in the HTC Sence box
http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/editor/separator.gif
I've only just managed to actually find the right city codes for this!
I think the linked page has changed a bit and all the search boxes now operate by post code.
You actually have to switch to the international page and search on there rather than searching in any of the boxes.
Alternatively, just go straight to www .accuweather.com/world-index.asp
Thanks mate, I will try this program. I've been looking for a solution for this for a long time.
Hi!
I have some up ROM since i get the HD2. The problem is: the first using it, it can download the weather update for My location is very good (by the wifi, data on, and the PC Microsoft ActiveSync), then after some up ROM time, very sad. I could't get the My location information any more! Please help me how to get My location informaion after up difference ROM?
Thanks
I never could buddy, and never could a lot of other ppl - I had to add the location 'Cambrdge' and show that one on my home screen.
TryThis
Set your home town using Manilla City Editor, works a treat, search the forum & you'll find the app. & how to use it. Hope this helps. I use this as My Location does not always work as it should.

You mean, after flashing a new rom, my location doesn't work? Can't get weather update for your location?
Have you enabled "My location" on the weather tab menu (last option)?
On these new roms that have a short after flashing setup, you have to go to weather tab menu to enable my location.
Hi!
I did anable weather already. Bad: new when installed the soft location from above advice, Then my PPC appear with blank screen! finally I have to Hards reset!
If i am not wrong, first u need to set some settings in ur phone.
Setting -> Menu -> All Settings -> Clock & Alarms
Set ur time zone.
Hope it works
not 100% if I understand the question... but...
go to the weather tab, click "menu", click "enable my location"
not all cooks enable this by default, so perhaps it was left disabled in your ROM.
Hi guys,
i just would like to know how set my location? i cant seem find the place to do it.

My location is automatic, you don't set it. Only problem is that with latest builds it doesn't work unless wifi is turned on (even if your not using wifi), i.e. turn on wifi (but do not connect to any wifi networks) and then select update weather
Other solution
A fix has been created for this so you no longer need to have wifi on. See this thread.
and how i can add my city if when i "add location" i cant find on list. not included

Weather update on the Touch FLO screen shows up for a wrong city (wrong country, for that matter) as opposed to that in the Weather Tab - which displays correct info. Anybody knows why that's happening ?
Opposite here - when i hit Tab to Update on the Touch Flo screen it ask if i want it to use Location Settings, and if i say yes it gives my town. But my town is not in the list in Weather Tab, i used a program to put it in and it says "cant update weather for selected city"

EDIT: for me it didnt do the job, in weather tab again "cant update weather for selected city" and on home screen it was my town and when i put this one on my phone it went in London.
facing the same problem. The weather app has a different city set but the home screen shows weather for another city :| The only solution is to have just one city in the widget.

10x it works.
You have to update only in the weather tab not on the home tab and after 30 seconds it will update automatically also in the home tab with the correct city from the weather tab.

I think I jumped the gun.
The problem is not resolved yet. The Home screen keep updating itself to 'Guangzhou' in China, no matter how many times I reset it in registry.
It simply doesn't want to take my city from Weather tab.
Guys...no matter what I do, the Home screen weather switches back to 'Guangzhou'. I cleared reg keys to make my home city appear but as soon as I click on Update Now, it switches back to this city in China.

Had same problem, but solved (well sort of)
Had the same problem and apparently the GPS location was messing up my weather update. Installed HTC rom and now its works ok. My home city do not appear on the list, but the location is telling the weather update software the name of my home city (this of course changes if I update when in another city) How it xactly works, i donno.
Every single IP has it's own information going with it ... when u update the weather maybe the site reads that info and reads that the ISP is in other town , so it shows u the other town's weather forecast
How do I install the file mentioned in Post # 4? Step by step, please, as I'm a newbie. Cheers.
try fidling with the localisation options (switch off or on?)
the weather automatically detect where you are based on GSM network info.
go to you setting, locations and switch off HTC location service.
maybe this helps.
