i have tried to select auto internet settings but its ghosted out and i cant select it.
my sim is 3g enabled as it works in my htc desire.
please help
What version of the phone do you have? X10i or X10a
You might have a phone with different frequencies from your network.
you can check the version from the settings -> About Phone -> Model number
You should also be able to install the setting via Setting -> Wireless controls -> Mobile Networks -> Auto Internet Settings
Assuming you have the correct model for your region you should only have to update your apn settings. Call your carrier or google it.
maybe helps
Check the APN settings. My automatic APN settings had a error with the misspelling the user-name. Instead internet, it was intrenet.
Hope it helps.
Also you can (surprisingly?) look on the x10 support pages on the SE website - they have all the details for the UK networks on there so you can set it up manually.

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and must say I never thought there was so much suport out there for these phones. So I would like to put my problem forward for you see if you can help me.
I have bought my GT-I5800 of a freind who has just come back from north africa, he needed the money. Anyway it was originally on T mobil but he had it unlocked over here. I am on o2 and so when I put my sim card in everything worked except for the access to the internet and the GPS.
I have a P.A.Y.G. account but do have access to the web on my old phone with a cretain amount free every month of topping up.
When I phoned o2 using my new (secondhand) phone to get the setting sent by text the chap said it was not an GT-I5800 but a maxtel. The thing is that when it starts up it shows the GT logo and the screen is the same as what i've seen on the photos, the three button style. I have found inside the phone these details:-
Model no. GT-I5800
firmware 2.2
Baseband I5800XXJH1
Kernelversion 2.3.32.9 [email protected]@#1
Build no. FROYO.XXJPB
I wanted to get the web side working and GPS although it does connect to my home router wirelessly ok and phone calls +text work ok. Any help would be most welcome.
Cheers everyone. raccoon
You need to manually set your APN (Access Point Name).
1. Google 'X APN Settings android' where X is the name of your mobile network provider (eg. t-mobile) and keep that page open.
2. Go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobile network -> Acces point names. Press the menu key and choose new APN
3. Add settings (name, APN,...) according to your provider
4. You should now have internet connection.
GPS is something beyond my knowledge
Cheers Thom I will try that and post back asap.

Do you have the correct settings? What o2 sim do you have? Simplicity, normal payandgo, or a basic old 2g sim card? (and yh the settings change accordingly)
I have an HD2 (australian -Telstra NextG) 1.72.841.0 WWE Rom.
Works fine with the Telstra Sim and Data access is fine.
I'm setting up with an alternate sim - "Roaming Sim" (Sim with UK based number and data) so I can ease the roaming costs when I travel outside Australia.
New Sim works fine on voice calls, but there is a block when I try to access data.
The following message is displayed ...
Message ID:
FILTER_DENIED
Problem Description
Your system was configured to deny access to this URL.
Possible Problem Cause
Request denied, as specified in the local filter list configuration.
Possible Solution
Contact your network support team if this problem persists.
Data connection is fine with the Telstra Sim, but with the alternate sim and settings the above block stops any data access.
Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks
who is the sim with in the uk?
Settings -> All Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advanced -> Select Networks -> Edit (if you already have the details) or New (if you don't) for the data connection for the SIM. Make sure that all the settings are correct for the new SIM (you can easily find them with a search of the internet).

The sim is marketed under the name "Roaming Sim" - for international travel - I believe it is an Irish based company, but the number is +44 prefix so a UK based number.
Their help desk was not very helpful "there is money in your account so things should work properly" and "no-one here has a HTC HD2, so we don't know what to suggest".
Thanks.

Thanks for the trail of where to change the settings - I've set the sim up as per their meager info and I've checked their web site for any info on the problem I'm having - nothing specific to assist there.
On a web search I found mention of a similar error message related to PCs and it was pointing to Proxy setting issues, but there are no Proxy Setting in Cellular Line (GPRS) setup (in setting up the APN for this sim).
I've also done a google of the exact error message in quotes and come up with no listings, hence me coming to the gurus at xda.

No I've checked that with supplier and Data is enabled with the sim.
I've contacted the Australian supplier of the sim and I'm waiting on their tech guru to phone me to try and work through the problem. I'll post if/when I get some resolution.
But don't let that stop you guys from having a go - so far the sim supplier's technical assistance has been very pleasant, but less than actually helpful at resolving the problem.

ok made sure you got the correct internet settings in the phone?
Thanks for the assistance - I have discovered the problem - it was me (obviously).
When I set up the New Network Settings I did not select Proxy settings and therefore did not check "This network connects to the internet".
If you do this (as above) then save - you can't come back to fix the error because you are not offered the Proxy Settings tab if the box wasn't checked on setup.
I've now set up a New network setting, (with Proxy- This network - checked) and I can now access data and URLs.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out, perhaps this might assist another nooby down the track.
Hi,
My service operator is not same as my network operator I must manually configure GPRS/MMS settings to my mobile. A guess my operator is called like "virtual operators" or "service operators" and they don't have own network.
I was wondering that could some one know are GPRS / MMS settings for different operators inside the firmware. Or how device can have settings automatically (depending of operator). I mean that if I use SIM card from my network operator settings are automatically, but not for my own subscription which is from virtual operator.
If these settings are in firmware I should be able to modify these settings. My target is that when I reset my mobile I can have my own operator settings automatically.
Does someone know the facts for this.
Regards,
Leluloota
Hello Guys,
I just got the new Sony Xperia Z C6603 in India, im from Mozambique.
Just updated the software to Version 10.1.1.A.1.253.
I tried to connect the mobile data, but it doesn´t worked, i don´t know if the problem was the update because i just tried the mobile data after the software update.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Vichantri
Might be the SIM card you're using? Did it come from an Indian retailer unlocked, or locked? If so then a SIM card from a Mozambican/French retailer may not work.

Are you sure mobile data is enabled? If you are using an MVNO, sometimes data roaming needs to be enabled too:
Settings > More... > Mobile networks > Data roaming
Also check your APN settings:
Settings > More... > Mobile networks > Access Point Names
Have you download internet and mms settings? Go to settings/Xperia/Internet settings
Sent from my C6603

That's the reason then. You should have APN settings for data and for MMS.
If Settings > Xperia > Internet settings doesn't work, then Sony probably doesn't have the right settings for your mobile operator.
Check the website of your mobile operator. Usually you can request the settings by SMS or you can follow a configuration guide.

Just go Google search and type in "(carrier's name) apn settings"
And make an apn profile and save it then select it and you should have data by then if you did the procedure and inputs correctly.
No apn then no data, it's that simple.

does ur service even offer data on the same band?
As the title suggests, I can't connect to mobile data no matter what. I have tried DrKetan's L8 ROM as well as Kyubi ROM 3.2. It won't connect no matter what. Maybe its a modem problem? I noticed that I have a modem from Germany (Germany - DE) while I live in Greece (Greece - BY). Also I'm on COI3 bootloader. Can you guys help me? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Some feedback please?
Come on guys, no one?
Only mobile data right? Can you make and receive calls or sms?
Have you had a look under [Settings -> More networks -> Mobile networks-> APN ] and see if you're missing some settings there?

Exactly, only mobile data. SMS and calls working as expected. What should I do about APN? I never had to set that up on a ROM before.

1) Mobile data box is ticked?
2) Did you set your network mode to LTE/WCDMA/GSM(auto connect) ? and not gsm only?
3)Do you have any options under APN - your providers mobile data setting could be missing. Not a big issue you can contact your sim provider and ask them for the APN settings to get mobile data. They should be able to provide you with the settings and the correct values. Else google search apn for that provider and maybe it'll result in the values for you to add manually.
I only remember having to do it once before myself a while back, hope this helps you out mate.
