Recently have had problem with my SD card and phone.
Somehow on my sd card name has been changed and now nothing works for me?
In real terms: originally when clicking from my phone, it had two options: my device, storage card.
Now somehow it automatically has been renamed to storage card2, other folder of storage card has only one program of opera 10. Everything else has moved over to storage card2.
Hence everything that I had on my phone doesn't work at all. All my icons have gone to square shaped, you know the default/error icon?
(i) Im trying to move over eveything to original storage card folder but no luck.
(ii)I'm trying to delete original 'storage card' folder and rename the 'storage card folder2' to 'storage card' but still no luck.
(iii) what's the best way to overcome this issue?
Has anyone else had this problem?
Please can someone help and advice me into the right direction.

I had this issue , i think twice.
What I did is deleted the folder that didn't have anything in it.
It could be the Storage Card or Storage Card2 , make sure you delete the empty one.
And then soft reset.
then it should go back to normal.

recently, my kjam is showing 2 storage card folders, i don't know why but one day i just had it. what would be the cause of this?
my normal mini sd card is shown as storage card 2, and the storage card folder is showing installed app on it (phone skins) plus the temporary internet files folder.
any idea?
I don't know what causes it, but it happened to me once. I took out the card and soft reset it and it was back to normal.
i just did that but no changes happened, i still have the 2 folders (storage card & storage card2)
i there any other solution?
I had same problem when install to autorun application with an internal reference to Storage Card. I suppose autorun appications run before Storage Card device availabity.

I've got the same problem and I posted under a new thread as I believe this is related to the upgrade of my TMobile UK ROM - did not have the problem before.

It's not at all weird - just read my article. I explain there how this can happen and how the mess can the cleaned up.
I realised it is because you set your StorageCard as the default message - or temporary internet files store. The problems I usually have when I use ActiveSync and I turn off (or it turns off itself) the PDA.
My method is very simple and works:
Just delete the empty StorageCard folder and after a soft reset everything will be fine.
If you cannot delete, for example because TemporaryInternetFiles are there and index.dat is locked, you have to make a softreset first, and after it you can delete the fault SDCard folder and after another softreset everything will ok.

Suddenly i restarted my phone and it created a new Storage Card on the device as a folder. My storage card has now been recalled storage card 2 ? Why would that happen and how to fix it please ? Its annoying cos none of my shortcuts work now as the file path has changed so I'd like it back the normal way.

This happened to me. Its actually a quick fix: just remove the memory card, then delete the folder titled "Storage Card" (given there is nothing in that folder, if so, back it up first and put it on the actual memory card), then re-insert the memory card and it should come up as "Storage Card" now.
I think a soft reset works too. happened to me once and I believe thats what I did.
It's happened to me several times.
Don't know why but a delete of the Storage folder and a restart fixed it.
Don't delete the wrong folder ..... check it is empty.

This could happen if you have tweaked your registry settings to store your IE cache in storage card or if some application is using storage card to store application data (for example an RSS reader). When the phone restarts and it is not able to locate the storage card due to some reason (for example timing issues in code), the phone will create a folder by name "Storage Card" in main memory if any application tries to write to storage card. Later when you reinsert your card, it will be named as "Storage Card 2", as there is a folder already by name "Storage Card"
If you dont want to lose any data, instead of deleting, you can just rename "Storage Card" folder created in the main memory.
BTW, I faced the same pblm yesterday. Very annoying when it happens often. I never faced this with my magician.
i had the exact same prob, didnt know why. and it was because i did use the reg tools to tweak that IE cache is stored on stroage card. i did wat u said, just deleted the folder and reinserted the card, also changed the reg key's back cos i cant b arsed with that on every soft reset!
A strange thing happened - my memory card changed its name from Storage Card to Storage Card2 - now my progs dont work!

i had that happen to me once, i took the memory card, and deleted the folder called storage card from file explorer and then reinserted the memory card again. You might need to soft reset afterwards
Some program likely tried to write to the card while it was out.
Take your card out
Delete the remaining "Storage Card" folder
Reinsert the card.
Did you try and move the inbox to the memory card?

It happens to me in the pass. I was with a Dutty's Rom and playing with HD2Tweak appl. have to backup the SD card and make a hard-reset. Dont know also what happen. never appear again.

I think i know why this hapens (i just happened to me today)
when you conect your device to PC and set to transfer files, the SD card becomes available in the PC and inavailable in the HTC device, so if a program wants to save something in the "storage card" folder, the folder isn't there, so another folder is created.. and then when you desconect the devive the storage card see that there is already a "storage card" folder an creates the "storage card2" folder...

Hi there, all of a sudden my storage card has decided to rename itself from storage card to storage card2, and with this all my programs that where intalled on the original storage card have stopped working. How can i change this back as my file system now shows 2 storage cards(default new storage card and my old one that has been renamed storage card2), i hope this makes sense and there is a work round to this, i have tried pulling out the storage card but this didn't work please help as this is really annoying

1 take out the card
2 rename the folder 'storage card' to something else,
3 reboot
4 insert sd card and your card will be correctly named again.
its caused because the system is looking for a folder on 'storage card' before the system has finished mounting the actual storage card,. so it creates a folder instead.

Ok im not sure how to rename the folder in step 2? in active sync or disc drive mode this is where i,m getting stuck, thanks for the reply mate

This problem of disappearing Storage Card / Storage Card2 keeps appearing frequently on my WM6.1 Samsung device. Everytime doing the manual process is troublesome. Is there any way to get rid of this problem permanently or in automated way?
