I'm trying to change my SMS notification sound... the file I'm trying to make it isn't appearing in the selection for the sounds... Its a WMA file, I'm pretty sure all the other files are as well. Any suggestions? Which folder? Its in the "Rings" folder right now under windows.

Make a "MyRingtones" folder on your sd card and move the file there. It should there now.

I use a transformer sound notification. It works great. Just copy the file into your windows folder....just loose. Go to File Explorer/Windows/Then menu bottom right softkey/Edit/Paste. Then you should be good to go!

Uploading to Rapidshare and Mediafire as we speak. Something I'd like would be to implement the Diamond Sound Scheme into our current devices; I vaguely remember being able to change the sound files in the registry... Maybe someone could go through it?

Settings for ring tones are stored under:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories]
E.G.
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring]
"InitVol"=dword:5
"Speaker"=dword:1
"Directory"="\\Windows\\"
"AttenuationCategory"=dword:2
"DefaultSound"="Ring-WindowsMobile.wma"
You can just copy the files to your windows folder and select whatever you want in sounds/notifications. No need to change the registry.
I have this ringtones already in my Cruise, and my question is how can i degrease the volume?? even when u set the tone volume at "0" it still sound? and if u have 2-3 the volume is very loud, how came? any solution for that?
i copied the sounds folder to the root of windows, but havent found a way to use them from sound notifications

That is strange. Once in the Windows directory, you should just be able to go to Settings>Personal>Sounds and Notifications.
Select the 2nd tab on bottom. For each item (e.g., Incoming email..) you can select a sound from the pull down. All sounds from the Windows directory should be listed there. If not, maybe it is a format issue (e.g., wma vs wav vs mp3).
maybe i need to rename the folder? i copied the folder, should i copy the rings directly to the win directory not in a folder?
for incoming call ringtone the file should be in wmv format and can be everywhere even in storage card..
for other tones the file should be in wav format and be directly in windows folder

Check the registry ...and sometimes it looks into my documents/my ringtones folder might work for some registry setting
Put only the wav sound in windows root then u can see them in notification settings. wma files u can put in windows rings folder or, device->my documents->my ringtone
alright thanks all, its working
You have to extract the sound files from the folder and copy them to your windows root folder.
cool... now i got a sms alert tone
I'm not able to set the volume of .wma Diamond's ringtones in my Touch Cruise...
How can i do?
Hey guys,
I was wondering if there is a way to put back the original jade notification tones. I'm currently using one of Ironeagle's featherlite roms and it removed a lot of the original sounds.
The main one I need is the notice sound after the other party hands up or the call disconnects. Currently when the call disconnects or other party hangs up, it just has a "static" type of sound and I'm assuming it is suppose to be the short notification clip.
If any of you have the file and know where to replace it in the phone, please help me
Thanks!
For the call disconnection sound, I think you're looking for the file CALLDROP.MID found in the Windows folder...
Try downloading the Jade_Kitchen... It will have all the files of a stock ROM in the OEM or SYS folder... Just copy them over to your phone...
HTH!
thank you! I downloaded the file, but don't even know where to find it or how to insert it back into the phone

easy way.. download the file again. This time remember, write down the file name. Copy the file to \windows folder in your phone. I assume you know how to sync your phone to your PC.

You have to put your mp3 in Windows root folder, not in Rings subfolder. Cheers!

hi sorry one more qns...
how to use our mp3 as the alarm tone??
i use ur method above and it works for the sms tone..but i cant see my mp3 in the alarm tone selection...
pls help again..thanks!!! =)
You have to convert that mp3 into a wav file.
hi, you can use mp3 as a ringtone or sms alert. but you have to unclock normal windows settings menu. in sound and notification menu ou can choose mp3 as alerts. i don't really remember if you have to put files in /windows or /application data/sounds folder. give it a try
when you just put a .mp3 file in the root of your storage card it will also work.

we don't need to put it in windows folder just put it to phone memory works i tried it my self yesterday
I had my own call tone to sms and mail, but when my phone restarted (I had to because it needed it, it was so slow) everything was gone on my phone. I can't remember where I have to copy my sound files, so the phone can get them and use them in sms and mail tones. I hope someone out here can help me. I can't remeber where I had them.
I wonder also In Windows 7 can the backround on the desktop switch every 5. minutes if I want, is this possible in htc hd2 I have many backgrounds I want to use.
When you say 'restarted' it, you mean you wiped the phone back to factory default?
Yes I have.
Sorry I missread your first question. You can put them in Device\Windows\Rings and it will work like a charm.
*Edit* Or Device\My Documents\My Ringtones.

You will need to insert your custom ringtones into these folders. The second may well be a hidden folder, I use Resco Explorer so I see all hidden files and folders.
Resco file explorer can't find these files in rings folder. How can I copy these files in it? My computer can't find any folder called windows, but resco explorer on my phone, it finds windows folder.

Open Resco File Explorer go to menu, options, general and then the browser tab, uncheck all of the boxes and you will see all hidden files and folders.
I got it now, I used file explorer. I Marked the files, got in to Send To, Add/Delete and made a new folder with name Rings and the files have now being copyed in there. Now it's working. Thank you

No problem.
For the life of me i cant figure how to install ringtones! can anyone help me please?
create a folder, named 'Ringtones', in your microSD card, and put your music files in there.
The phone only read and extract ringtones from that particular folder =D

what about alarm clock ringtones
can i do the same or shall i create another folder?!
You can also set them through Mediascape. Just press options once a track OS selected and you will now have the option to set as ringtone.

Yep, once you set as a ringtone it will always be available on your list after that so you can switch back and forth without having to open the folder again.
P.S. you can put them in any folder you want to, you don't have to name it "ringtones"
