Hi XDA developers,
I have a T Mobile UK HD2 which has the latest 1.72 ROM loaded.
I set up 2 email accounts (vispa and O2) but then found I only need one. I have searched the menus and settings but cannot find out how to remove an email account. Any one able to tell me what clever place I have missed looking in? Ideally step by step for a none expert.
Thanks in advance
Richard
yeah no problem follow this
open up email than go to the inbox ->press menu ->Tools ->options->press and hold over the account you want to delete ->press delete
deleting email - fixed, thanks jmckenna
Hi jmckenna,
Many thanks for a very fast response, email accounts now deleted. Just rebooting to confirm it no longer comes up with incoming email screen with user name and password prompt.
Thanks
Richard

I am so frustrated after searching the whole internet but can't find the answer and finally I hope can get the workaround from XDA.
The problem is like the thread title - there's no any response when setting up new email account, but both MMS and SMS worked very well, all are ok except create new email account, I mean the POP3 mail account(outlook email account worked fine as well). I had tried to do that in options - create new email account and directly running "\Windows\newmailaccount.exe", but the same result, no any response!
the only thing I did before that is changed some .mui file to display other laungage, but I don't understand if it is the problem related to.
so as I know, newmailaccount.exe will be incharge of create a new email account, why doesn't it work? what's wrong with?
I'm really expected your help, and your help will be much much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
has anyone experienced the same problem?
Hello:

Hi All Developers,
When I was using HTC XPhone - WinMo 2002, I used a app which would password protect my inbox. Every time you closed the inbox (x-button kill), it would ask for password before opening the inbox - a great secruity feature. this app was RJV Secure Inbox. Attached for reference.
Of what I understood, it was a password form which would replace tmail.exe and on correct password it would invoke the orignal tmail.exe
Hence all inbox links / shortcut would refer to this password form If you went to the orignal tmail.exe, the inbox would open without the password form.
A simple trick but worked well when friends are curious to play with your great looking phone & end up reading your SMS/Mail.
Would some of you like to develop such app for WinMo5/6/6.5...
I am sure lot of people would appreciate your effort and donate also
R.
GREAT IDEA!
Also have the feature to lock certain folders inside your inbox, so i can just lock the folder I dont want friends to have access to.
Please do this, this is a great idea!
thanks
thank you very much for this
bump...
can anyone make this?
thanks for this
Hello All,
I had set up my email on the HD2 and my mail started coming through, the all of a sudden it has dissapeared and now the email that was originally there is gone and I can't even retrieve any new mail. Has anyone else ever experienced or have any solutions???
Any help, would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!!
Marc
Hi,
Have you also accessed your mail from a PC using a program that is set to delete webmail from the web when it is downloaded? If that is the case, all email on your device is deleted as your HD2 synchronises with the web and removes email from your device by default (at lease for me).
Or follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=603344
Or even this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624802.
Gday Guys,
Been searching the threads for the last couple of days, but cant seem to see the solution. Just wonder if anyone can help.? I had to complete reset my HTC HD2 after loading some software that screwed it up, everything seems to be fine now apart form email...
I am trying to add a hotmail account, but its not doing what its told to..lol.. this is what ive done so far:
1. Bottom slider to email tab (as i dont av hotmail set up, there is nothing on this tab apart from "no mail account, tap to add a mail account".
2. Tapped "add account"
3. Tapped "Other"
4. Inputed the said email address (@hotmail.com) and password, ticked save password
5. Then pressing "next"
Now, this is where it goes wrong, for some reason it is sending me to the windows live page......where as before i had to reset my phone, all i had to do was go to the email screen, hit menu then send/receive, and it would deliver all my emails to my email screen...
Its really annoying that it sends me to the windows live page. Does anyone knows why this is happening..?? i think it might be to do with my proxy settings...??
For anyone else who has this problem, pse do the following, and it will sort this annoying problem out...
DO EXACT AS I SAY AND YOU'LL BE ABLE TO DELETE IT.
Tap the Windows flag, and select the "Windows Live" program..
Tap menu.
Tap Account Options
Tap Switch Account.
Tap Yes
And you should now be at a screen to accept an agreement!
You have now taken Hotmail off the HD2!
BY THE WAY, THANKS TO DAYRON24 for this solution:

in post 1 step 4 put your email address as "hotmail.not" or something, doesn't mater what so long as its not a genuine hotmail domain so the phone won't start the hotmail wizard.when finished, do send and receive and then edit your email address back to correct hotmail.com
just download and install Windows Live from marketplace, and tick the box with "synchronize-email", this will automatically give you another e-mailaccount in sense.
Thanks guys,
All i did to rectify this problem was follow post 2, and it worked perfectly, i tried before to input a different email using @hotmail.con or @notmail.com etc, but for some reason when i changed it back to hotmail.com, it still took me to the Live website, bizarre, but anyway all good now.
Thanks again
Mark
glad you,re sorted.
I should have added that you have to edit back the email address from wm email settings, not the htc email wizard.
my bad.
I recently updated my ROM from o2 stock 1.43 to stock 1.72. Since then I've been unable to set-up my Hotmail account. This has been doing my head in for a few days now, I've searched the forum but can't find anything that's relevant.
Here's my problem step by step: I select Add mail account then other, as Hotmail isn't listed. I then enter my e-mail address & password and click next. What happens next has never happened before when I've tried to set my hotmail account up from within a phone and has left me bewildered??
My Opera 10 browser now launches and takes me to the online Hotmail website??? WTF!!! After exiting the opera browser, I return back to the add mail account screen and I'm promptly back at square one?
Any help/ advice would be much appreciated.
Thx.
can you not input the settings for smtp, imap, pop3 etc manually???? im not sure which hotmail uses hence why i mentioned them all.
There is a few threads about hotmail mate
I wouldn't bother setting it though Sense...
Open Windows live and do it from there......
If you must then you will need mail.live.com. that is they worked for me the last time I set it though Sense...
I do have one question for HTC... Why the F**k are you selling a windows device that doesn't have the hotmail setting in Sense???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Oh you may want to update your version of Windows Live from the Marketplace

I'm not even given the opportunity to enter any settings manually as soon as I've entered my address and password and either clicked manual setup or the next button, my opera browser launches and takes me to the web based hotmail.
I totally agree with you that the Hotmail setting should be on the phone.

But I've setup my Hotmail account previously on this phone (HD2) via the Add Mail Account screen and never had any problems up until now.
Thanks for the suggestion tho', I may need to try that.
Can anyone help with this please? It's seriously doing my head in!
Me too, but I've fixed it
Hi,
I had the same problem when updating OS, what previously was a simple task became impossible, and as for taking me to the website, WTF barely covers it!
The answer is in the post from Neville.Holland, simply re-install 'Windows Live' from Marketplace and obey all the instructions, once the 'old WL' is removed and the phone restarts you'll find 'hotmail' is there in your list of email accounts as it was before...
Hooray
when inputing the email address at the start, just misspell it (notmail.con for instance) which prevents the wizard recognizing it. fill in all the rest of the details manually, then save it, then edit it and correct the address.
That's a weird problem, but sam's suggestion should definitely work. If not give provisioning a try. Just look around XDA and you'll figure it out.

i had the same problem mine was a hotmail.co.uk address. so i entered it in sense as hotmail.com it then took me to the live log in screen where i changed it to hotmail.co.uk it then saved that and synced all my emails and left them all working fine on sense.
Manual Hotmail Email Setup
samsamuel is right on! Hope I'm not raising the dead post here, just thought I can up some details for reference on manually setting up a hotmail email account as lots of light roms are without the windows live package (it's not quite a small install and it needs to reside on the device) and I've read through and met some probs on my own when installing the cabs...
So as samsamuel said, just mistype the "@hotmail.com" part when you set up your hotmail account manually in Messages. You'll skip the windows live wizard (which I don't even have installed anymore). Here are the settings that worked for me (diamond on wm 6.5):
Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com:995
Account type: pop3
Outgoing (smtp) mail server: smtp.live.com:25
CHECKED "outgoing server requires authentication"
CHECKED "use the same user name and password for sending e-mail"
Under "advance server settings": CHECK BOTH "require SSL for Incoming AND Outgoing email"
After all that, right before it starts to sync, just stop send/receive and go back to the account setting and fix the mistyped "@hotmail.com" earlier.
That's what worked for me; incoming and outgoing tested. And I'm not sure about this, but for people who want to sync more than the 50 email limit (when you setup via windows live), you might be able to do it by setting the period of download to "from the past 30 days" or I guess "all messages". I don't have that many emails as I don't use hotmail that much so you better try it out if you're interested (it might take some time to sync though if you have lots of emails... so 3g or wifi it).
thanks for the help, samsamuel!
