Email Notification - XPERIA X10 General

When I get an email in Gmail on the Xperia X10, there is a quick, "New Email" that flashes in the menu bar. After that there is nothing. Why is there no steady email icon on the menu bar? Is this a 1.6 deal? I've been using 2.1, till yesterday.
I've checked off "Notify In Status Bar When Message Arrives" in Gmail settings.

go to the email app and set your notifications and how often it checks for email. not the gmail app. the email app.

No. That doesn't do anything.

Hi...I created a ringtone and added it to a folder called Notifications. I found this out from another site. However, the ringtone fails to associate itself with emails - - it rings when I plug my phone into a USB for example. This is a normal "notification" and not what I want. I did find a notification folder under media>audio>notifications. When I moved my ringtones to that folder they showed up under my ringtone options. However, the ringtone does not trigger when I get an email. Still playing around with it. I've lost the notification for emails which is probably due to something I've done editing folders on the phone...

I spoke to Sony Ericsson tech support about this and they draw a blank. I called Rogers Wireless, which offers the phone and they don't know. Any Android phone I've ever used, and I've used several, has a Gmail icon in the notification bar when you have mail in the inbox. Not this phone.

Email Notification Even When Box UnChecked

I have all the email notification options unchecked, and I still get a notification of an email. This could be because I have the messaging option on the today screen on, so I see a line telling me how many emails I have, which is why I don't want notification. Using US T-Mobile MDA.
Anyone able to shut off notification of new emails?

Is there a registry entry that creates the envelope icon atop the screen for new mail

I am not sure what happened. I tried a few profile managers and still use phone alarm but it has no setting for it. I still see the envelope briefly on sent messages and i get the icon for SMS messages but not for emails anymore.

Email icon with unread email

I would like to have an email icon showing unread email (pop3) in my arc with the native Sony apps. It's possible?

I think I know what you mean. I used to have an HTC Touch HD and the icons for SMS and Email would show how many unread texts/emails you had. All you get in android is an icon in the notification area. It's taken me a while to get used to which icon is which as I have hotmail, gmail and sms.
Is there any way (or an app) to have the shortcuts show you how many unread items there are instead??

Just found a couple of apps called Gmail unread count and SMS unread count. These are widgets which kinda works. Can't figure out how you go and change the options once you've added them though. Maybe I have to remove the widget and add it again.

[Q] How can I change Email Client Notification, change wifi notification and popup?

I hate the water droplet sound that the email has, I changed the sound in the sound settings but apprently it's seperate check all over in the app and I have no idea how to change it....
2. I want to be able to remove the WIFI in the notification shade, I don't mind the popup too much but I'd like to remove that also. I'm connected to wifi 80% of the time and that just takes screen real estate and clutters my screen.
Email sounds are changed in the settings menu of ths mail apps themselves. For example, if you're using Exchange, hit the menu button and select settings then select your email account listed and change the sound there. Gmail is the same way. Go to settings, then your email account then Select inbox spund and vibrate.

E-mail notification dot on icons

Hi,
I received my Pixel 4 last weekend and I'm quite happy with it.
I have tried Gmail app as well as Outlook app and I can't get the "dot notification" on the app icon to show up when I have new e-mails.
I do have the notification of new e-mails at the top of the screen though but I have several accounts and I would prefer to have the dot notification to directly press the right shortcut to access the inbox than to scroll the notification page down and see which account has new e-mails.
I checked in the app that the "dot notification" is enabled and in the mobile settings (under "app and notification") as well, all seem enabled.
Anyone would have any idea please?
Cheers,
Axello
