Cookies home tab. :( - HD2 General

So since day one of getting my HD2 the first thing I installed was Cookies Home Tab and Editor. Since day one I had been experience lags and my HD2 seemed really twitchy. Especially the "Sleep Lock Screen of Death" was a constant annoyance. Well I would like to post that I have unistalled the CHT & Editor and for about three days now have not had the lockscreen of death or have it locked up during SMS's. SirPhunkee suggested that i disable the recent documents tab and I think that has help out as well. I still use the stock SD card with almost 1,000 songs and a few pictures and a lot of games installed and it is working like a champ. If you guys are beginning to get frustrated with your phones...give this a try and let me know what's up! Thanks

No offense to Cookie Monster by any means. He does great work and I did have the lates cookies installed. 1.7.1

post in the cookie thread also try unchecking timeout its on the bottom left corner of the today screen.

Thanks Jimmy...I'd completely forgotten I'd taken that step a long time ago, and is probably why I don't get the SOD, even though I'm running CHT and CHTEditor...in fact I've seen no noticible slowdown at all since I've been running them (at least a week now).
toreone, if you find that is already unchecked, run it for a day or two more, see if you get anymore SOD's, then if not, throw CHT back on there, (double check to make sure the home timeout is still unchecked), and see if it remains stable then.

Help! My HD2 cant wake up

i dont know what to do. ive rebooted the device about 5 times in the last 2 days. it will will go in to stand by mode and the screen will turn off as it should but when i try to press one of the keys the screen stays black and only the keys are lit up. sometimes if i wait about 30 seconds after i keep pushing it, the lock screen will come up but its a big pain.
the only thing i have installed on it is CHT 1.7.1 CHT editor 1.7.1.2 and Anastasia CHT theme. i had a bunch of other stuff but i didnt reload it since my last boot because i thought that may have been causing the problem.
What can i do?
which rom are you on? can you hard reset and run just stock for a few days and see what happens?
I honestly think the sleep of death is lock related imho
I believe there is already a thread on this. Try disabling the auto lock function on your device. I had the same issue and this resolved it for me.
It seems that the device won't bring up the slider bar to unlock the phone, the screen is locked out to avoid accidental key strokes, and that's why the hard keys still light up but you get no display.
You can try uninstalling CHT and see if that makes any difference, it has for some people when trying to fix this issue.
Another thing you can try is this:
Go into Settings -> All Settings -> Today, and on the "Items" tab, make sure the "Today timeout" box at the bottom is UNchecked. It's not a guaranteed solution, but it has cleared that problem for some.
Your feedback is appreciated
ok well it seemed like my texts were slowing it down a lot.. i wish there were settings to erase them automatically.. besides that everything is perfect now
Did you install ANY version (including 2.07) of the FileExplorerExt mod, or even the combine fix (0.3)?
I had nothing but problems with my phone until I uninstalled it. Even the supposed fix in 2.07 doesn't work.
After removing this application, I haven't had a phone freeze/lockup/refuse to wake up in over 2 weeks.

Yes, the issues with those extensions happen when you either (fully) close file explorer while it's pointed at the SD card, or let the phone sleep while it's open and pointed at the card. If you just hit the "up" button when you're done using it, so it's pointed at "my device" again, you shouldn't have those issues anymore.
Good work sir

So I have been running without cookies for a little while. I flashed to the new ROM and have been SOD free for about two weeks not. Not a hiccup. Dont know if it is the new ROM but I know when I uninstalled cookies it helped a lot. Im thinking maybe wednesday I will install cookies back. Maybe the new ROM fixed sense enough to allow me to re-install cookies.

Yeah, I'm anxious to hear the results when you try CHT again, especially with the new ROM.
Were you ever running the fexplorer extension(s) mentioned above? It hadn't occured to me before that that might be behind some of the lockups people experience.

I had Co0kie installed for 2 weeks (on original stock ROM) and had no SOD. Only when FileExplorerExt was installed did I have that issue. As of the new 2.13 ROM, had Co0kie installed and still no lockups. I installed the 0.3 combined FileExplorerExt fix last night and had SOD within 15 minutes. After uninstalling, been running without SOD ever since.
Unless you have a corrupt Co0kie install, I don't think that's a problem, thought nobody can totally rule it out. Seems every phone is different.

No I recently read about those fexplorers but never got around to trying them out. Seemed a little unnecessary for me. At one point after uninstalling I installed diniks icons and slider and it was still running great?! idk... I will keep you posted.

have you installed any cabs recently? try downloading clearRAM but you shuoldnt really be needing to reboot it several times a day.
Have you flashed a custom rom? or using stock?
Havent installed any cab's recently. But noticed it has been slowing down since installing cookies tab. Plus its running on vodafone rom. Already have clearRam installed, that doesnt really help.
The device slows right down, even the animated is rubbish. Instead of it being smooth.. it kinda judders
If i were you i would install a custom ROM - go for it dude!
Remember to back up your data first, been reading that the home tab doesnt uninstall very well.
It may force you to do a hard reset like me
Make sure you have the chainfire drivers installed and used a rom based on the 2.13 base. Nothing but speed here

well i cant say which is the best as i havent tried many, but im running the energy, and its amazing.
I can confirm the problem was down to cookies home tab. I uninstalled it earlier, and the device has been running great ever since. So am gutted as I really enjoyed using cookies home tab, but it just kept slowing my device down after a few hours of use
My phone is slow as crap as well. After reading the posts I am going to try a new rom.
Really strange that lots of people are currently complaining about a slow device, mine has also become suddenly very laggy. I have the Elagancia ROM which has C00kies home tab built in - maybe it is this program that is the brunt of the trouble?
chainfire is not speeding up the phone at all. maybe 1 or 2 programs that most dont use, thats it. no use installing.
Cookies def slows down the phone. Especially if you have the weather animation on. If you got 3 full pages of shortcuts its slow. Recommend using 1 page.
I ain't trying a new ROm as I am not having problems with the VF ROM currently installed.
But I had to hard reset my device after uninstalling Cookie's tab, because it messed a few things up. Thank god I got SPB backup on this device.
Won't be going back to Cookies home tab tho... great tweak for the device, but with having the reset the device upto 5 times (or more) as day is a bit frustrating for me.

Didnt even think about reducing the number of pages, I changed it from 3 to 1 and not its so much faster.
I have been having the same issue on my phone and after deleting all of my text messages (you have to delete them, then go to deleted items and clear them) my phone is running much faster.

Help installing clock files

I thought i was getting smarter...i was downloading and installing stuff with no problems until this clock program. Can some one tell me how to make it work please. I am running cht's newest version but can't get the clocks to show up...it shows that they are installed...but can't find where they are and how to make them work. Help please...thank you
It would probably help to know what clock app you are trying to use.
It should be in the advanced settings in CHT...there's a drop-down list there to choose whatever compatible clock you have installed.
Thank you I will look in the advanced setting and see if that helps.
I have cookies 1.8.5 and there is no advanced drop menu I can find. I'm trying to use the clock called "the bull C3". From forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670136

Ok well I'm running an older version of CHT (1.7) so I don't know if it's in the same place, but I access it by hitting the "menu" soft button on the home screen, then choosing "edit home layout". Once it enters the editing mode there, you should find the "advanced" button in the bottom right.
Ok...I found the advanced menu right where you said it was..but the clocks I installed don't show up in the options...do I have to install the cab file in a special place to get it to show up in the advanced menu?

Hmm...it was my understanding that whichever clock you have installed (I think you can only have one "actively installed" at a time) would show when you picked the appropriate option in the list...like "analog 1" or "analog 2"
Try picking each of the options that do show in the clock list, and see if any of them are the one you think is installed

lol I'm glad it works for you now, I know how frustrating that kind of thing can be. Had you done a soft-reset after you first installed the clocks? Sometimes changes in WM just need to be kick-started with a 2nd reboot.
Yeah I tried to re-boot it several times after installing it...then I uninstalled it and went on here asking for help...then I installed again and re-booted several times during our discussion....then on one re-boot the standard analog clock disappeared...so one more re-boot and magically the one I installed showed up. Now I'm just praying it doesn't have a virus or something. You don't happen to know of a anti-virus for the hd2 do you? Thanks again for all your help.

Nope...I know that there are some AV apps out there for winmo, but I've never felt compelled to test or use any. I'd have a hard time believing that your issue was casued by anything like that though. I'd suspect it's more likely related to the fact you installed all the clock cabs at once, but that's just a guess.

In Marketplace look up 'Lookout'. Its free and works great. But if you are on the stock ROM still dont use it. I had some issues when I was on my original ROM and it froze it to the point I had to hard reset. But it includes antivirus, Malware scan, firewall, etc. Plus it has a nice feature where if its stolen you can remotely (from any PC) 'NUKE' your phones contents. You can also pinpoint its location and go get it. GL!

After installing the clocks cab. then go into edit mode press the old clock till the remove tab appears, then hold the empty sapce till add new tab.appears and select analog 1 from dropdown menu, soft reset and new clock should show. In fact you can get 2 different clocks to display-- one for day and one for night.

I have an issue with the clock as well... Ai just got the phone yesterday.
Actually, during the day at the office, the time changes several time by one hour forward... so suddenly after the time was OK in the morning, around 5 PM it showed 11 PM. What do I need to change so the time stays the same? (in the night it went back by one hour, so the alarm woke me up one hour earlier than it should have...wrrr ;-)
BSB tweaks
I am using BSB tweaks, there is option Auto sync clock - just switch off this parameter, it working perfectly. Milan
Actually, when I am at home and have athe autosync on, the time does not change. As soon as I am moving around, the time changes (even though the auto sync is off then). It seems that it changes when the network changes while moving around. When travelling in roaming this weeknd, the time moved forward by 26 hours in just one hour while travelling in a bus.

bagalk, mine hasn't gone that far, but is definitely a nice bug from HTC. I wonder it the clock will work properly when they change the time again in March or April
solution
As a colleague was having the same problem I looked around for a solution. Having found nothing that appeared to work I looked to the HD2 which runs a similar software setup. This is what I found (I can't post the URL so must simply copy & paste from the original page)
Hey kids
This was irritating me too, I assumed it was not a phone issue but, I contacted HTC yesterday & their reply is as follows, there are 2 steps to perform. I did this last night & so far the phone has been perfect:
*
*
Dear Stuart
This is not a fault with the device or its software, your device updates its time automatically from the Internet and from your mobile provider.
Occasionally there is a difference in the time from the Internet and the time from your provider which can cause the time to appear to be changing when it should be the same.
Normally this will resolve itself within a few days, however, this is very inconvenient so we recommend to disable any automatic time updates on your device.
This will not effect your sync with other things like Exchange and similar
From the Home screen tap:
Start - Settings - Data services - Time synchronization - Untick all here.
AND
Start - Settings - Menu - All settings - Personal/Private - Phone - GSM & UMTS Services - Time synchronization - Get settings - Untick all here.
Sincerely,
Adrian

Hi all,
Updated to Stock ROM 3.14 and now my txt message converstions don't show in either converstation mode or traditional i.e when i tap 'reply' the previous messages are not showing.
Thiis was always sporadic in 1.66 (sometimes they show sometimes they don't, seemed to depend how you entered into the message client)
Any ideas?
I suggest you do a hard reset as with a official ROM or a custom ROM it is always good to do a hard reset after you flash just to be double sure e erything in the ROM was set correctly. Sometimes Win Mo needs a sweft kick in the a$$ lol.

To be honest I really don't know if SPB Backup will backup you rCookies Home Tab settings or not as I have nevery used SPB Backup. But it is worth a try but just incase take and make a hand writtin list of what you have on your Cookies Home Tab and what settings you are using for it so you can set it back up like you had it. I only use Microsoft My Phone as it backes up whent I really need backed up and I do the rest the old fahion way as it keeps me well aquanted with how to use my HD2.
