Looking for free text app - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

Hello, anyone know of a app that can allow me to send free text to any phone just like the iphones text4free app? Thanks

Looks like it is not necessary to have an iPhone, it is a website, http://www.text4free.net/. So just use it in your browser.

Quick reply for mms

Is there anyway to have the native messaging app(touchwiz mms) to have a quick reply system? i dont really like hand cent or go sms.
Also as in quick reply i mean like a box poping up showing you have a message and options showing if you want to reply, close, or something. And if you click reply then it pops open a little box where you can reply right there and return to your app.
Is it possible to edit the app to do so?
SMSPopup might be what you're looking for.

the free amazon app today is textPlus gold and it has the popup options you're looking for...although if you don't care for handcent i don't imagine you'll like this.

SMS received on my N7 ?

Hello,
I have an 3G N7 and know that it can not receive / send SMS. OK, that is what was told of.
But today I got a notification that I have a message in notification bar, opened it and it looked like a regular SMS message.
Then I tested myself, I sent a normal SMS to my tablet gsm number and received it instantly. I'm on Vodafone if that makes any sense.
Build number is JDQ39 - baseband 1231_0.17.0_1205, Kernel 3.1.10-g05b777c.
Obviously this is some app inside that handles the received message, what's the app name ? location ? at least is interesting to know that at least SMS I can receive. How can I access it ?
Best regards,
Radu
Hi, i also have the same question. Anybody knows?

Download Go sms from store.
Google Voice works great on the N7 for sending and receiving sms, also. Sms works over wifi or data.
I maybe not beein too explicit.
I have received two SMS, regular kind, sent through my gsm carrier.
As i received them, means there is some app that recognise it and can handle the sms.
Question is, what is the app, how can i acces the messages received.
I'm aware of various solutions for sms that require to have an online account, in order to handle sms, do not want to use this kind of service.
Also, there is hack to install sms/mms apk by rooting, but, again this is not the object of my question.
I just want to check my incoming sms's for now.
Best regards,
Radu
Like mentioned above, if you install gosms or any other third party app it should allow you to view that text message that came through the carrier

Long press the notification and press "App Info" and that will tell you the name of the app.
Hello again,
Here is screenshot and detaild of the app.
As it says it receives SMS, but also can write SMS- see last line, in theory.
Question is, where can find this app. Looks to be hidden..

How to do so with stock mms.apk has already been covered here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34282107
Right in the N7 3G dev section. XDA search function is highly recommended

Hello Rebel,
I know the MMS.APK, saw it, thank you for heads up.
My specific question is, why should I use that, if I have an app already installed. I do get SMSs from any regular gsm phone, without being necessary to create an online account for GOSMSPRO or whatever similar. The screen shot says that I might be able to send also, on my cost SMSs. No probIem, just want to find that app that handles the SMS received. Can I do that ? can I send using same app that is ALREADY installed?
thank you for patience

So it seems the 'Simple message receiver' is an app that comes with the 3g N7. Mine is just wi-fi, so I can't check, but does your app drawer have that app? If you check Settings > Apps > All, is it listed there? I have no idea how to open it if it is not in the app drawer or if you would be able to send using it anyway. Interesting that it is included in the 3G version.

Yes. As thw thread states, they are successfully receiving and sending sms from the same app over gsm, just as you would on a phone. The only difference i forsee is doing so with a dedicated data sim, or using the sim from your existing phone.
Many are using the latter, and using other apps to forward thier phone calls to the data side, and using sms normally.

problem with text display in kakao talk

hi,
not sure that it belongs here, but i tried to find a forum/support for kakaotalk or search in google, but didn't find anything.
i am using kakaotalk(it's like viber/skype) for chat, it works great in my phone.
i am using the same app on a windows laptop & and my sister on iphone.
the problem is that the app on windows and in iphone, the chat displays hebrew text backwards(mirror like), but when you write it in the your chat box it looks ok.
strange that in android it looks ok, but in iphone/windows pc, it doesn't.
please help.

A better text messaging app?

What is a good ad free text messaging app? I used to run MIUI and LOVE their texting ap. But MIUI isn't working right for me now so switched to CM11. And while I like it the lack of a good text messenger sucks.
I send lots of MMS messages because of work, and I have 3 different gmail accounts logged in on my phone, and while hangouts is boarderline ok, the fact that I get sign in issues because of the two accounts I don't use hangouts with and then the fact that I have to select what account to send the mms over, it's just a pain, and not nearly as smooth as I think it should be, or that it was.
I have tried and tried to find the APK for the MIUI texting ap so I could just install that, but I just can't find it.
Please help me find a suitable replacement. I don't mind paying the few bucks for it, but it has to be worth it without being all bloat ware, I don't care if it has 9999 different emoticons. I just want to be able to text and send good resolution MMS.
Thanks,
PS, being able to schedule text messages would be awesome too.

I'm enjoying EvolveSMS a lot. Frequently updated and very smooth. Nice design, a good amount of features and it handles MMS fairly well depending on your carrier.
Google Play - EvolveSMS
The free version is ok but to get the full app and all its awesome extra little features i think its got $2 of in app purchases
Also has backing up to dropbox/google drive and what not

I had MMS issues like 3 weeks ago but they have since been resolved and improved quite a bit.
My favourite SMS app so far, offers quick reply popup settings as well plus themes are amazing.
Also allows sliding between conversations and a nice pull out list of convos.
Seriously once you try it i find it hard to believe you'll end up wanting to use anything else.
Handcent sms. Worked ceven w apn issues on sprint mms where others dailee

I've been using Hello SMS and I really like it. It's got a different and I think better UI than anything else I have tried.

If you're a Uber-texter,
Sliding Messsaging Pro:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.klinker.android.messaging_donate
Evolve is okay, But it's essentially a pared down version of Sliding Messagin Pro (even made by the same people)--except for the funky UI. It looks nice, but it's wonky to use:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.klinker.android.evolve_sms
Handcent is another beloved SMS app…It's been around for eons and is a favorite around here. It's got every feature a bacon-loving man could ever want…but it's butt ugly:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handcent.nextsms
Go SMS Pro -- Essentially on par with handcent. But it has a downside. Even though it's one of the most customizable of the bunch….it takes hours to configure, and even then, just like GO Keyboard, it loves to place big buttons in places you don't want them, and it hides obscure details and features deep within the config and settings….which means that you'll find random numbers and other metadata in your inbox, not really understand what they mean, and then you'll spend the next 20-30 mins trying to figure out how to get rid of them. While this is probably the most-heavily-themed of the bunch, the themes are almost universally garbage. They're unpolished-- the whole lot of them. It's nearly impossible to find a theme that actually skins/themes absolutely everything. Dev's choice of colors, graphics, design is questionable at best. Lastly, the GO Dev team's relentless drive towards integration means that any day now, your app will update and you'll suddenly find out that your SMS app is now your dialer, your lock screen, your camera app, and your flashlight app. Oh…and they'll want you to pay for the "prime" version of every one of those apps-- with GETJAR Gold.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.gosms
Other options:
Hangouts now integrates SMS into your Hangouts inbox.
ATT Messaging App-- will integrate voicemail, SMS, MMS, and a few other things like account notifications into a single box for you…which is really, really nice…but the app is also really, really ugly.
There are also apps like SMS Popup which will give you the chance to respond to an incoming message via a notification action or popup.
Lastly, you can just find a AOSP SMS app, configure it, and then theme it with XPosed's XTheme.
Good luck.

I can't read jamesboy's post, but I think I see a link to a klinker app... Sliding Messaging. Great texting app imho. MMS was a problem until very recently with it, but that appears to be fixed.
