After finetuning Camera function gone - HD2 General

Hello folks, it's the first time for me to be in this forum and I really appreciate the great hints for speeding up HD2. It's just a great smart phone with a great display and a very good gps device.
But after some improvements my camera doesn't work any more even though I didn't change anything concerning the camera settings.
Every time I try to activate my camera there is the following procedure:
- for some seconds you can see a white frame of the camera in front of a black background and then it says (in german: "Kamera Wechsel zu Vorschau-Modus nicht möglich. Kamera-Gerät konnte nicht eingerichtet werden"), translated like: "Camera change to preview mode is not possible. Camera could not be set up."
- and after that it flips back to the menu "Pictures&videos\my pictures"
Can anybody help - that would be very, very kind. Thanks a lot.

problem with camera app

Hello !
I'm using an HTC Touch HD French version for 2 weeks now and a got a problem with the camera.
First it was working fine, but after a few days without using it I try again and a cannot take picture in photo "standard" mode. Between this of course I add a lot of app on my HTC so maybe one of it had create the problem.
The point is:
If I take a pic in "photo mode" it take the photo correctly and then after 1 sec it was taken the loading logo appear on the screen and the app stay like this for a long time (more than 1 or 2 min). I can go back to the TF3D by pressing the "home" or arrow button but in any case the picture was not saved on the phone memory anywhere.
But the more curious thing is the following. If I take a picture in another mode it work perfectly !!! "contact's photo mode", "Landscape mode", "Theme photo mode" (sorry if their are not the accurate name, I don't know them in the English version), I try all of them and I had no problem with it.
About the app I install on my HTC, the only one that should use the camera is Quickmark (for reading QRcode) it work very fine and I don't think it's making the problem.
If anyone had the same problem or has an idea to help me fixing it, thank in advance for helping me !

i have this exact same problem. it started happening today after doing the registry tweaks to allow the extra camera modes. i haven't tried other camera modes yet. i'll give it a go now and see if it's the same as you.
edit: that's so weird! all the other camera modes work... but when i go back and take a standard photo i get the spinning logo for a 1-2 minutes.
what programs have you installed recently? or since you last had the camera working? have you made any registry edits?

i changed the settings so that it doesn't review the picture after you take it (default is 3 seconds). and now it goes to the spinny logo right after you take picture, that makes me think its a problem related to saving the photo to the device. im gona keep fiddling

Actually I've install so much things... the problem is that I was not using the camera a lot of time so I cannot set precisely witch program could have made the problem. But if it's about writing the files in the memory, I don't really know was could create that, I've no special program about file managing or so.
For exemple I have: Quickmark, GPRS NoData, Advanced config, Coreplayer, fring, Gyrator2, TomTom7, SecureW2 TTLS Client 4.0.0, WiDiFoFum2, WMMiniGPS, Metro, PocketUno, SimCity2000, FakeCall, other app are small stuff...
EDIT !!! I've just add the hotfix and desinstall an application that was not working (ResPhone) and now the problem change. I can take the photo, it same to work good again, but when I go to the album all the picture taken are a BIG JAM of pixels (purple, white and green!!) and it's still only in "photo mode", other modes are working fine like before !
And now i was just doing so test and the problem come like before again ! Amazing, I'll be crazy !

i fixed it! man i was just about to do a hard reset and all...
i went into advanced config and reset the camera settings back to default. i think i had changed the settings: encode photos in portrait mode, capture key delay and key delay. put them back to normal, soft reset and it all works again
it will be interesting to see if you had changed settings in advanced config as well.

I'm not sure I changed some stuff about camera in advanced config but anyway now I set like this and it work:
encode photos in portrait mode: NO (the program seems to do it anyway)
capture key delay: enabled (default)
key delay: enabled (default)

Looking for a Registry entry or a full all over list

First of all i am German and my english is not perfect.
I am looking for an overview of all or the most Registry entries for what they are and what you can change with each entry.
Especially i want to change the following 2 things:
1. When i recieve a new sms, a small white window/PopUp shows up. I dont want that anymore. Which registry file must i change to stop that?

reorganize clock tab

Hello,
I'm searching for a soulution to reorganize the clock tab.
Scenario: I click the clock on my TF3D2 home screen. After that I have 2 new tabs: worldclock and alarm (dunno what its called in english, but I guess you know what I mean). Unfortunaly I want to change my alarm often, and so I always have to choose the 2nd tab. Can I change the position of the tabs? Or can I just spezify which tab is activated per default?

Yeah, it's very easy:
Click on the right side below the clock, there is the thext: "Alarm off" with a alarmclock symbol next to it, this opens the second tab for alarm immediately.

[Q] WP7 Camera Revolution

Hello
Just been playing around with my HD2 with WP7 and have noticed that the camera is very blurd and bad revolution by the looks of it ,im not trying to say the team did a bad job btw, as they did amazing. So is the camera fully finished?? ,what is the revolution at the moment??
And just like to add the camcorder is also not full screen, but the quility is the best I've ever had on my HD2. revolutions for this and if its finished too pls

Please change "revolution" to "resolution"
The video should be able to do 720p high definition video - as far as i read you should change the resolution every time you want to shoot a video.

how do you access the camera settings? i can only change flash?
also currently, video is 640x480 and photos are 5mp (1944x2595)

Ive just realised tht when i press the settings button while in camera, I only get the flash settings instead of all the other settings tht are surposed to pop out. Is this correct or are DFT still working on the camera and its settings

Same issue here. Everything was working, I did a hard reset to change language and after I noticed that only flash was available. Perhaps another hard reset would set it right.
Not that there are that many settings, I didn't find the setting to desactivate the very annoying shutter sound. Is it possible?

I believe camera picture look bad because there is no focus. On wp7 phones the camerea button can be pressed half way to focus but thats not the case for our phones that just take the picture,

I have 1 small way to solve this problem mans.
First, you change to camcorder mode, which can focus very well. After focusing what you wanna pic, change back to camera mode.
And your focus are still in with cam mode
Then, easily just take the picture. It focused
btw, anyone have solution to off the shutter sound ? it's very annoy

i think, there is a bug in the camera app!
to get camera settings change your display language to english (united states)
you can change all the other settings back to what ever language, but display language must be US

Ive been playing with the DFT WM7 Rom since yesterday and overall I am very impressed considering it is the first release. .....patience, the camera resolution issue will be resolved

TO GET RESOLUTION/EFFECTS SETTINGS ETC.
1) Go to settings>region&language
2) Change "Display language" to "English (United States)"
3) System Locale and other settings will also change, you can change these all back to where you are/language you want, but "Display language" must be "English (United States)"
4) Press the "Tap here to accept changes and restart your phone"
It will restart, and you will be able to change your video resolution to 720P! It really works!

Beside the faked Android 12 Version the head unit seems to be a good bang for the buck. I´ve paid around 230 Euros including VAT and shipping. The unit runs stable and powerful so far. Everything works as expected. The Android is a bit downcutted by the manufactor. There are no text notifications in the statusbar e.g. But i can compensate that with widgets.
Against the description android auto works wireless with my Xiaomi Mi10t pro. So that's also nice to have.
Tweaks, mods and others:
- my wire harness was labeled wrong. Key 2 and Key GND were swapped. So better check the cables before connecting. For me the correct wire names/functions were in the printed manual.
- replacement fan that fits my model: Sunon MF35101V21000UA99
- there's a sleep whitelist in the factory settings menu that prevents apps from being killed in standby mode (ignition off). That's very useful. I've whitelisted Google maps e.g. and don't lose my programmed route anymore if i turn off the engine for a short stop.
- tasker trigger for warm boot: detect any USB device connected. (You have to plug in something into the usb port, dashcam or pendrive e.g.)
- the status bar only shows a few symbols and no text notifications. Therefore I use a notification widget in combination with nova launcher. This way I can see all notifications in a widget which would be at the status bar originally.
- wireless ADB is enabled by default with root user. The port is 9876. ( I've found that inside the build.prop)
- if you want to have a look inside the firmware you can use a rom kitchen tool like CBR
- how to change the boot logo:
1. If your player is 1280*720 screen, you need to rotate the picture 90 degree, and cut it into 720*1280 size, transform the picture to .BMP format.
2. If your player is 1024*600 screen, you need to cut the picture to 1024*600 size, transform the picture to .BMP format.
3. copy the picture into your Udisk root path, and then connect Udisk to the player. follow the steps settings-factory-8888-Logo set-then you can see your picture and select it- click update logo.

Known issues:
- "hey Google" (activate the assistant by hotword) doesn't work
- no car speed dependent volume control (manufacturer says it would be implemented later)
- the firmware is a debug release which is a serious security risk (every app or malware can get root access through ADB shell). On the upside you can also get root access through ADB and do everything you want

Everything works as expected. The Android is a bit downcutted by the manufactor. There are no text notifications in the statusbar e.g. But i can compensate that with widgets.
Against the description android auto works wireless with my Xiaomi Mi10t pro. So that's also nice to have.

You need a hardware info app which can read out the Android API. e.g. this one

Yes, tried that app and with this it does state 10 fake 12 but as you said works smooth for the price...

As it looks very similar to the one of @blue_one I think I will try the update file and see if it works.
I got an extra code meanwhile 15935700 turns of sleep mode when leaving the car so when taking off the car key the units shuts down after 3 min delay in stead off going into sleep mode and possibly draining the car battery.

Update went fine, though I will have to reinstall my own apps, but that is not a real issue... Now I should have much more control over the unit. Just quickly tested the enhanced settings menu after the update. All seem to work.

I just installed that type yesterday (S4) and yes android auto works wireless (Moto G60. I tried several hw info apps and none of them did show fake android. Will try other ones...
Still have to figure out why canbus isn't doing much and how mic volume could be altered...

I have the same head unit S4 i want update with this firmware but I don't see the update for the MCU, my question is the MCU bin is it included in this update zip or not, thanks a lot in advance

The variable fan speed is dependig on the mainboard revision. See firmaware release notes: "26. Display the fan APP according to the serial number date (the boss does not display the fan APP, and the board after 2022-12-22 displays the fan APP)"

Hi, I did the update on an 4/32 model and this installs a fan app but it didn't test it because I do not have the fan powered yet. Will do that later on when reopening the dash to install and connect an FM amplifier

I have the following problems with the device: 1) The USB port on the front of the user is not working. However, the USB port for charging works.
2) I wanted to install FCC and create my own launcher. Unfortunately FCC doesn't start automatically and crashes after a while when I start it manually.
3) What I totally miss about the device is the GALA function, as well as Speed Volume Control. You can install the apps for it, but the device doesn't allow the apps to control the volume. I wrote to the seller on ebay and he sent me the following message

Please try updating the device and see if it can solve the problem.

1.Download the two firmwares to your computer from the two links, they are <Update.zip> and <MCU.bin>, please do not unzip them.
2.Copy the <Update.zip> document to your Udisk root path. Copy the <MCU> document to your Udisk root path.
3.Connect your Udisk to our player, then follow Settings-General-System-Upgrade, and then it will update itself, please don't turn off the power during the upgrade. And the player will restart. This step takes about 6 minutes.
4. When you have finished upgrading the system, follow Settings-General-MCU-Upgrade - select the upgrade file - confirm and it will update itself. This step takes about 1 minute.
5.After you update everything, we also need to enable the Weather APK, please connect your cell phone wifi hotspot name as FYQP5QRG and YOU connect the player wifi to your cell phone hotspot, and then it will die Weather - Activate APK. 8. Firmware upgrade may cause the Carletter APK not to ACTIVATE. Please take a photo of the QR code and send it to us, we will activate it for you.
For the USB issue, could you please try formatting the USB flash drive to see if it can be recognized?
Or try to enter 8888 in factory settings and select USB mode as 1.1.

You have the same HU as me but I bought it from Ossuret. In my opinion the update is successful for you, it shows 26/11/2022 no?
I also had USB problems at first, an 8 gb Sandisk was read with diffulties or only after restarting, but when I used another 16 gb stick for the update, the HU read it without any problems. So seems to depend on USB stick type. Try several sticks...
But also make sure that you have not connected the supplied USB connection on the back because this will switch off USB2 on the front...

You can achieve speed related volume by two methods: speed impulse from the car itself or via GPS. I don't know if this head unit can work with the speed impulse from the car bit you can give the several gps volume apps a try.
For me only nova launcher works as third party launcher. The manufacturer implemented the needed rights into their firmware. So I guess you need to modify the firmware to get other launcher working too.
