the dual boot works great for my hd2 and perhaps for all the hd2's all over the world. the big problem is that there is no working android image for the hd2, but i hope in the future the developers will bring an working version for the hd2, there are a lot of versions for diamond touch pro 1 and 2 blackstone, but none work for the hd2
I currently have these phones (ordere in listing of purchase)
Iphone 3G
HTC Hero
HTC HD2
Nexus ONE
My conclusion is we need Android for the HD2, the Nexus is great as well but the HD2 with Android will rule!! Hero is a bit to tiny for my taste and I am done with Apple
The HTC Supersonic for Sprint is supposed to have the Android 2.1 on it. It's an HTC HD2 in Android form.
Anyone know of this?
Hey everyone, OK I am a n00b to android but I thought its time to cut all the way back from androids main version and go from there.
OK I am new to all this so please don't ask me for roms or version first we will be getting details on the HTC hd2 the future HTC as with the device.
Learing about Android togeather, learing about the phones hardware and roms, learning how to get the most just from what we are able to get.
This is for anyone to chiam in but please Make sure its phone (HTC HD2) and android related, I don't want to see anything about WM or anything like this, Also if we ever get around to building a HD2Droid we will be using s striped WWE rom no bells no nothing if we need to run from haret.exe what will be mostly.
THIS IS NOT A ANDROID ROM this is a learning please and maybe a rom later but the smartys at XDADev will mostly have a great version out by then.
This section is not for HELP in android eva I will not reply to any help post in this topic.
Things I would like to see post here,
HTC HD2 spec, and i mean hardware spec not rom spec and radios but there useful also lol.
Drivers for HD2, Kernals for HD2, Debug reports from the HD2
Boot editers and software for editing.
Spec sheets and data sheets ont the HD2.
Someone today said we need to get the geek chat back and so I thought I would start a real one lol.
Sorry for spellings Guys even geeks can be dyslexic lol.

I am new to both smart phones and forums so bare with me. I have installed dark stones 2.2 with sense on my hd2. I have some issues and am hoping for some help. phone works, but I can't understand the caller. Battery life is horrible. Last but not least..... Screen freezes pretty often. Ar there better builds or easy fixes?

Hi, Are you using original stock rom? What radio version do you have( needs to be above 2.08 to work properly) Did you run the clrcad file before haret when booting into android? Was your sd card formatted before you put android on it. Battery life if not fantastic on any build as it's an os running from an sd card. I would recommend mdeejay froyo-sense 2.3 clean. This build is fast and stable for me and the battery is pretty good aswell. ( i used to be on darkstones builds before)
read the stickies in the development forum (DO NOT POST NEW THREADS IN DEVELOPMENT)
almost all of the new builds have fixed all the issues you speak of.
touch screen freezes, sleep of death, and robot voice.
make sure you read ALL the stickies in the HD2 ROM development section, and HD2 Android development.
you will need to put a new windows ROM on your phone. and possibly upgrade the radio firmware. (all detailed in stickies and related posts)
then load one of the new builds found in android development section and you will be good to run android all the time.
After playing around with a number of builds I found a EVO with sense that works great. Thank you

What should I buy a HD2 and run Android 2.2 on it or buy a Desire, there practical the same price so i was wondering!
I really like the Android. How's the battery life with android on a HD2? Is it as stable as on a Desire?
thanks
i would go for the hd2,dont know for the desire but hd2 with android 1 day with medium use
HD2 running windows and ANDROID gets my vote..
BUT you've posted this in the wrong forum... this is one is all about specific android builds and kernels!
GET THE DESIRE!!! Why buy HD2 if you want Android only! Save yourself the hassle and get the Desire.

+1.
I own the HD2 but the constant PPP dropouts at the moment for me make it almost unusable for mobile internet, the battery life is great for my casual usage though.
If you want everything working and stable, just go for the Desire.
Desire HD of course...

+1 for the HD
Windows is toast now and WP7 seems to do not work as expected.
Go for Android and forget Windows
If u want android only, go with Desire (I think Desire HD would cost more but it's a lot better than the original Desire)
If u like having a classic version of windows mobile (WinMo 6.5.x) with Android in the same phone, then go with HD2 and be ready to read a lot of threads on how to flash the right ROMS in order to run Android in a good shape)

I expected WP7 not to work....
I like the Sense UI but I don't like the "over-red" screen of desire. I also like big screen. so, my only choice is only HD2+android now.
Mate get the Desire or the Desire HD.
for me is HD2 not because of android but because of the screen.
I own both and i prefer HD2 with Android even if it has some minor bugs at the moment.
Most of them are eliminated with NAND.
I have HD2 running Android (Desire HD ROM), my wife just upgraded getting a Desire HD...
After playing with both, I'll be getting a Desire HD - so much more stable and fast as lightning (especially boot up - only a few seconds!)
Hope that helps?

HD2
the hd2 is a superphone, the desire is just android that is locked and restricted. you will most likely end up modding it. so why not get the one with option's? and run multiple versions of android instead of being stuck with 1.... just my opinion
depends on what are u basically... If u r a techie guru or who loves experimenting get a hd2 - why? u can run wm 6.5, android and shortly WP7 and meego - 4 OS
if u r happy with android then get a 3.7 inches 1500mAH Desire..
Else wait for Desire HD or WP7 phones.. but i see ur one of the criterion is price as well... so best is to choose which u think u should be using say 6 mths down the line
Happy buying.. spend judiciously..
HTC Desire HD for sure.why do you want to buy a windows mobile device and struggle every day either to try the android rom modifications(never working 100% and stable) or sit and make an android rom for it.
Also,if you are buying such a highly priced mobile device, why not go with the latest which has the newest and the best features.
The desire HD has a next generation snapdragon processor,768mb RAM,1.5gb ROM,dolby mobile,SRS WOW HD,8mb camera with 720p recording at 30fps.
don't these specifications literally shout at you saying - " WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED !!!!!!!!!!!! "
invest your hard earned money smarty.
Regards,
Karan.
I say HD2. My android hasn't had a PPP drop yet with Phiremod 1.7. (knock on wood)
Um... exactly why are people talking about the Desire HD? Did the OP ask about it? Nope.
Between the Desire and the HD2, definitely the HD2. Nice big screen, nice and thin, and fast. The Android roms are awesome. Anybody who tells you they aren't stable needs to change builds.
Not to mention the fact that people are working on porting MeeGo and WP7.
Anyway, that's my opinion.
WP7 is more like Zune 202 for microsoft. They are going to learn their lesson the hard way...
I want Android Phone, for the first moment, I think I would buy Desire, but after search alot on XDA, then I got Confuse, cos HD2 Is very good to handle Android.... I want purely using Android on HD2 (Windows doesn't count).
Should I buy HD2 or Desire? what pros and cons each of them?
please help me to choose....
sorry for my english
Well seeing that you posted this in the android section your answer is most likely to be an hd2 but this has noting to do with question and answers snout android on the hd2

I have Nexus One and HD2. I love them both
HD2 with android is real fast, faster then my nexus (your HD2 can have 1900 point on quadrant standard- my nexus only have 1650)
The digitizer on HD2 is easy to break (a lot people have screen response problems)
The battery on nexus one is last longer (U don't worry to run out battery in mid afternoon)
If they both cost the same for you, then you might as well get the Desire HD. The only reason people put android on the HD2 is because it was the only 4.3" superphone on Tmobile's network, and it was crippled with Windows OS.
If you only plan on running android, I would get a native android phone.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
its better to run android nativly. get the desire,
if you want a HD2 running android, get a Desire HD,
HD-2 is only cool because we can customize the SHYT out of it. Flash a new rom every day if you like. With the Desire HD you will most likely be stuck with the same ole same ole and that may get OLD to you after a few months. So you have to decide if you like doing what most of us do wich is Flash the He11 out of our phone.
First of all we dont 'flash' anything by putting and android rom on out sd card. Secondly the desire hd can be rooted soon, and there will be tons of stuff 4 it! Youre askin this question in the wrong forum. Why? Coz we all have leos! The answer is simple: if u want native droid, get the desire!
I like the developement, so im sticking with my LEO!

hd2 on desire hd rom will be realy sweet.
and to answer your question, like someone said earlier,hd2 has one of the most impressive hardware during that time when it was released and it was crippled by winmo.
not that winmo is bad or anything, its jus that winmo target mainly business users and not for entertainment.(etc ifone)
so you get a powerful fone with crappy software making it a test to you as a human when using this device.
if you got $$$ to burn, buy desire hd.its android and the fone is build for it.
you wan to tinker with your fone, buy hd2,tinker away and bliss out on your sofa.
take a look at the forums and read the android development,Q&A for hd2.you can get all the answers to whatever questions you might have to ask.
