Hi people, im using the 8525 and yesterday i installed a hebrew support software
then i restarted the phone.. and it froze! =[... first i see the AT&T sign on the screen then the animation comes and then the screen turns black anybody knows how to get the all the info out of the phone i have so much important stuff there... ???? helpp??
the thing is... it looks like its working... cuz the green light on top is flashing..
anywayz....
heres how it looks like:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=22794617
It looks like your Hebrew Support software has changed something needed in the boot process, so I'd try to remove that software somehoy (how?) first.
Leave the phone for some time and then try connecting to your PC. Can you get an Activsync connection? If you can then try to remove the Hebrew program using Activsync (Tools / Add/Remove programs).
Other than that you may need to Hard reset which will lose all your programs and settings, but leave it a while and hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will come along with some help.
If you do come up with a solution, please post it here.
Good Luck.
i tried connecting it to my pc and nothing pops up.. =\ its like i didnt even connect it... but somehow it looks like its charging cuz when i connect it the light on top is solid...
any better solution?
I think only a hard reset will save you.
i dont want to do a hard reset! i need the info from my phone...
anything else i can do about it?
Indeed it looks like a hard reset is needed.
What ROM version are you using and what hebrew support wereyou trying to install?
im not sure what rom version i have... im new at this.. i mean i would tell u if the phone would turn on.. but i dont know how to check when its not on.. sorry =[
is there a way to check? sorry again.. i dont know alot about these stuff.. =[
and i was installing Ectaco hebrew support
hey, to check the ROM version, when you soft reset theres a bunch of red text.. the one on the right buttom next to the letter 'D' is your ROM version.
I'm sorry that this had to happen to you.. I had a similar problem (different software) a month ago.. cept I didn't have any data that I needed so I hard resetted it :S.
I'm sure there's definitely someone on the forums who can help you, I'll keep a look out for solutions.
tnxx alot for the cheer up and for the help.. =]
so my rom version is 2.15

dont think yelling out unnecessarily for help will bring you nowhere except for inviting FLAMING you.
if you read around and observe, use of all caps is considered rude and bad etiquette.
i do share the same view as the other poster and seems like a HR is your only option.
oh wow lmfaoo if u consider that rude then ur stupid... and i was yelling help.. cuz i cant live without my phone.. and i need help. so i dont see how is it rude...

Ok, because you don't seem to get the hint, you need to do a hard reset on your phone. Look in the manual to figure out how to do this.

I simply don't know how to install programs on my HD2. I don't know where to install them either. I installed a newer rom version a month ago or so, but I just put it in a random place on my phone. I would really appreciate some help, because I am NOT satisfied with my HD2 atm. Sucks to write messages on it, it sucks to go through my contacts, because suddenly it lags and calls a person while I'm scrolling.
Guides like this doesn't help me AT ALL.

I mean, I have never had a wm-phone before. I'm used to ipa's and apps/hacks on Ipod Touch. That's it.

You download .cab files, then place them anywhere on your phone and then run them from there, it will ask you if you would like to install to memory card or phone memory.
Simple, dont go complaining about other peoples thread, that one isnt even supposed to guide you through installing programs.
I wasn't complaining, I just said that I don't know what the purpose is, and that there are no ohter newbie guides to people like me. I was just saying that you didn't have to link me to those guides, because I don't understand them. But thanks, I didn't know that it doesn't matter where I put the files.

You should have started out with a better first post mate. Rather then come on here moaning about stuff, tell us what your problems are and we'll usually try and help. Okay?

Just do plenty of reading, that's how most of us learn.
A Nokia 2110 is better.
No worries about installation.
Phone works perfect.
No touchscreen, no mistyping.
Nothing to learn about.
Could fit your needs.
Or an iPhone... similar functions...
If not, try and read trough this forum.
A journey always starts with the first step.
Hi all have had my HD2 for 3 months now and have all the usual issues and it has been back to Vodafone a few times I dont really want to get rid of it as it is perfect size etc for vids and calendar sms for and an old codger like me for work with bad eyesight..
Heres the question I am not brain of britain at this sort of thing and want to know if there is an Android .exe I can run from my micro sd card that has all the upgraded stuff you need for a stable phone........I can add apps and that sort of thing but my technical knowledge is somewhat vague....I dont understand what Froyo is and your terms for radio this that and the other and could be surfing on here for days and not understand much....
I understand the dual boot bit as in the Windows operating system ( or not as the case is )
and Android effectively runs over the top of it but thats as far as I can get...
Any help would be gratefully received..
Regards Lee F
ps has anyone else had their phone dial out evertime you play a track on Nitro?....I came back from France to find each time I changed a song it dialed hope for 10 seconds and had a huge bill of .75p connection charge some 90 odd times......
what ....when ...how...im confused
Android is in fact a whole other system compared to Windows Mobile, and as of now, it isn't completely finished/'out of beta' yet. It is still less stable than Windows Mobile is on your device.
What I do suggest you to do is take a look at this thread, and get started with HSPL'ing your phone, so you can install a custom ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
The phone dialing out is one thing it shouldn't be doing for sure.
Actually sounds like a trojan horse.
Did you change the song with your wired headset? Because it can be used to dial the last dialed number that could be your problem. Also some earphones/speakers without a button can sometimes initiate it when you move the plug around....

Well, that's no way to treat a fellow! Y'ought to explain to 'im.
Android on the HD2 is not finished yet (and will always require things like flashing or other not noob safe things) and has therefore some bugs, problems and limitations. For someone who isn't that good with technical things and hasn't read/understood all those guides it could cause some problems and misunderstandings etc. I can imagine someone sending in his HD2 for repair because his ambient light sensor doesn't work in Android...
...or at least opening some threads here and asking tons of dumb questions that could be easily answered by reading the stickies or using the search.

There is no such .exe file. To Run Android you only need to run a .exe and a few files with it. But without a suitable Radio (the part of you operating system that is responsible for Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS and everything else that sends/receives data over the air), you will get problems. But finding and updating a suitable Radio sadly isn't as easy as running a .exe
But there are many guides on it which should help you, in case you still want to do it.
Buddy,
Right at the top of the forum here there are sticky threads that contain all the information you need to get HD2 running android. Please post you're questions there instead of opening a new thread.
hello, I don't know weather I can ask this things here or not, but .. can ayone answer me , why is it actually not possible to install android in system partation wiping full windows. Developers have done a lots of things, unlocking/editing spl's , so is it never possible to do this? if not, why not? and if it is possible , are developers working in this??
I dont even know how to respond...... Search hd2 Nand android!!
Vijaysapkota, you really need to search around before posting a question like that, particularly if you have so much public info about yourself in your signature.....

On XDA here, is a genius called "SEARCH" , it knows more than 99% of us, Probably try using it next time before opening a thread.
Why??
Dude camon thats what we've been waiting for along time. There are dosen of threaths about that ando u come here and ask that question? Work a little bit and do a search about NAND on HD2 and u see where we'r at.
Why oh why didn't i take the blue pill...
yes there is a way , to bad people on here like to use word search instead of not responding at all , its better just to leave on your sd card being the more apps you install it will limit you youll run out of space .
Guys don't be angry, as you see.. I'm on htc hero currently and planning to buy hd2, and I went just simply over the forum and didn't find it...
can anyone just give a link for the perfect post, please?
and, is anybody porting windows mobile 7??
Guys, sometimes all it takes and requires is a simple "NO or YES" answer and perhaps a few links that might guide the person.
I know we should search through the forum, but trust me,sometimes you can't figure out what exactly to search for.Just saying!

You're right. In the short run, just answering the question is an easy enough thing to do. In the long run, though, you'll end up doing all of vijaysapkota's searching for him in the future as well.
When it comes to searching, we all have the same tools here. Everybody needs to learn to use them. Taking the lazy way out and expecting others to do your work for you is just rude.
I'd also like to add that there's a perfectly fine HD2 Linux/Android Q&A Thread in this very forum, containing the answer to this and many other questions.

how do i get rid of programs from hd2 and all traces of it from the registry? i want to remove programs i dont use or like. how do i that? and how do i get rid of traces of them from the registry?
Settings/applications/choose application, then uninstall.
Assuming you are using Windows mobile, go to Settings > Remove Applications.
Choose the App and Click Remove. This is the default uninstallation method.

does anyone here really know how to remove programs? I read somewhere that you go to start > file explorer > windows > start menu and remove programs you dont like. but does this method remove the program itself or the shortcut? again, i need to remove the program, its shortcut, and any traces of it from the registry.
Does SKTools do the job?

troll? lol good one mate, people have tried to help you but you have said to each and every reply that they are wrong, yes or no? if you are talking about removing preinstalled apps that are part of the rom then you need to explain more clearly as to remove applications you have personally installed is the method that the 2 posters abover have given
if 3 people are telling you the same info then maybe its your way of thinking and your attitude is the troll like one here mate, people are trying to help you out
and you have no fear i have no intention of trying to help you out in future

I think you are talking about removing aps that are preinstalled in a ROM. If this is the case then yes the way that has been posted will not work. There is a thread on here somewhere about hoe to remove preinstalled apps but I can not remember exactly where it is. Do a searh here in HD2 General forum, in the HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A and general forum, and in the HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Development forum. You might have to keep changing your search terms also use advance search and try jist searching thread titles and not posts to see if you have more luck if searching post keep coming up empty.
OP, you should edit your first post here to clarify what you are trying to do. It seems like several members were trying to help you and you haven't been very polite with your responses. If the replies get out of hand this thread will be closed.

newbie or not doesnt mean you have to give the type of responses you have, ive noticed your other posts seem to be very confrontational aswell, but if 3 people are giving the same answers then you either havent asked correctly or assume they are incorrect
i have asked if it is the preinstalled rom stuff but you have, again, ignored to answer that and go off on a tangent about being a troll, how can we be trolls? or maybe you need to look up the definition of a troll

its not that... i just noticed many trolls on my past threads and some people dont take others seriously. thats all. at times, i have to give responses like the ones i've given as defense against people who i perceive as trolls. its a defense mechanism i got. its helped me in life.
i didnt see your post about uninstalling preinstalled apps. i just want to know if i can remove both the shortcuts and traces in the registry. if so, how? i read somewhere that ppl have removed preinstalled apps, but their shortcuts remained on the phone.
