After Rooted When making Bluetooth Calls - N1 Reboots - Please Help. - Nexus One General

After I rooted my Nexus One for tethering, when I make a bluethooth call with Acura TSX, the phone reboots every time. I have flashed it twice and still the same. Please Help.
These are the steps I took to enable Tethering -
1. Unlock boot loader.
2. Install Superboot - boot.EPE76.superboot.img
3. Flash RAdio - Radio_20100203_2_Signed_PASSION.img
4. Wipe
5. Flash Recovery Image - recovery-RA-nexus-v1.6.2.img
6. Flash Cyanogen Mod - update-cm-5.0.6-N1-signed.zip
7. Install Google Addon - EPE54B
8. Update the Kernel - Folllow Step by Step from Here - code.google .com /p/android-wifi-tether/wiki/NexusOneKernelUpdate
9. Install Apkinstaller
10. Install - wireless_tether_2_0-pre7.apk
does anybody have the same problem.
TIA

CM thread might be a better bet for this, I would guess step 8 and up is probably where things are going wrong. My suggestion would be to install the rom bundle kangorama which already has the tether. I would wipe everything first even though it is a CM based bundle considering your issues to make sure you get a clean start. An alternative is to go to enom which is a very good rom and already has wired/wireless tether as well. This one is getting an update soon as it has been a while.

Thank you for the help.. Im going to give that a try, but what is kangorama rom and enom rom? I did a search, but nothing came up..

[Q] Howto install cyanogenmod on wildfire

Hi, I would like to install this rom, but I did not found a clear instruction. As I am not so familiar with flashing, I would appreciate if someone can explain step by step what a newcomer has to do, like: how to start, where to download the tools and roms and a step by step installation.
I searched the internet and some forums have instructions like this:
1. Unlock/root your device and install Clockwork Recovery via ROM Manager or Amon_RA's recovery image (You MUST be NAND unlocked!)
2. Do a Nandroid backup!
3. Update your radio if necessary
4. WIPE
5. Install the ROM
5. Optionally install the Google Addon
but this installation steps are not clear. For example: Unlock (how, which tools, where to download), Clockwork recover and Rom Manager (where can I get the latest one, how do I use them), what is NAND unlocked, how do I do an Nandroid backup, how can I update my radio, how do I wipe, how do I instal the ROM and more important where do I get the latest ROM, what are the google addons and where can I found and download them?
I suppose, there are more people like me who will appreciate a clear and easy to understand installation!
Thanks in advance,
M.

In my thread there are more relevant instructions.
Hi
I try to figure out how exactly I can flash. As I am not familiar with a lot of things like wording, I don´t really know how to do it and the way of explaining is for me not clear enough to start flashing my wildfire.
For example I visit your thread [2.6.32.21] HCDR.Kernel v4 (Donate) and download the V4 Kernel. I thought it is on file which I start under windows and it does an automatic flash, like the Buzz Rom I used to remove the Vodafone branding - but I realized it is not like this.
I suppose I have to go more deep inside the topic and I wanted to avoid this.
The debrand thing you used is RUU. CM6 is not, so it's not automatic.

I wouldn't mind seeing some more detailed instructions for various things as well. I have flashed my mobile a few times but \i want to flash the kernal so \I can OC on a stock ROM. Unfortunately, there isn't any detailed info on that which I can find.

Go to the hcdr kernel thread, read the instructions which clearly tell you version 4 and above is flashable to any rom... Dl and flash normally

true, but then again, we are looking for detailed info on how to do this.
like a tutorial for dummies, and that thread is not, they talk about compiling and stuff, i know what it is, but no idea how to do it.

you don't need to compile anything, that was for the previous versions and is for devs only, just flash the kernel v4.1 normally :S, if you read the OP carefully in that thread, you would understand...

I see what you mean.
So 4.1 can be flashed to any rom, and it is oc ready, it does not need to be compiled, it already is, the compiling story is for devs only, not us mere mortals.
and if i understood it correctly, then when htc pushes their 2.2 update out, it will install with no problem even tho you have another kernal.
I am so sure that Jacobs Thread covers any step of what to do.

Actually, it does not, it might do in a tech kinda way.
But where i had my doubts was knowing that flashing a kernel or installing another rom is done the same way, i thought it was two different procedures.
very simple to understand if you ask me. No tech knowledge needed

[Q] Probs installing Cyanogenmod 7.1 on x8(E15i)

Hey.
I'm having difficulties with new cyanogenmod 7.1
I Followed different tutorials and none of them helped me.
I started with stock 2.1 rom and did all the unlocking bootlader stuff , then installed custom kernel and managed to install cyanogenmod 7.1 but then occurred a funny thing . There was only FreeXperia logo showing up, nothing else, and it rebooted all the time. Then I flashed stock rom again and tried to understand what's wrong and tried to use different kernels and nothing.
So my question is. Is there anything I'm missing here?
Henri.
Full wipe after you install rom.
Dot forget to make backups first.
about that...
i always do full wipe after installing roms, so it has to be something else.
Thnks anyway..
But after browsing several topics in XDA forum I saw that I'm not only one with the problem.
If anybody has had the problems like I do and got the solutions, every kind of tips are welcome.
Thread closed
I got it all working, but I don't know what was the reason, because, I just did the whole thing again about three or four times, and then it just booted and worked.
I never could install Cyanogenmod in my phone... could you?
Hey!!!
I could write a total working tutorial how I managed to get to work everything, but it takes time, so if you want tutorial send me private message , so I create it for you.
Henri
Does wifi and/or 3G work for you longer then 15 minutes?
No, but at the moment I'm using RC1 flawlessly.

umm..why not post it publicly man ? It will be useful for everyone including myself.
Would also like that tutorial
ok,
i'm gonna post it here after finishing it.
So, the wanted tutorial is here!
Firstly it's for xperia x8(E15i) to be superclear.
I'm gonna put that tutorial into steps.
STEP 1
You need to have stock 2.1 rom with baseband XXX015 , if you don't have it, then go to Sony Ericsson's webpage and download the upload service and flash it back into your phone.
STEP 2
You phone has to be rooted. Easieset way is using Superoneclick(sorry, i'm not gonna provide the link, because it's just google-ing thing to you who need rooting program)
STEP 3
Now, everything comes to the unlocking process for bootloader. there is also tutorial how to succeed when using s1tool and msm7227 (if you have problem, then I don't know). Try to undestand the tutorial of doing it.
S1tool is for identifying if your phone is unlocked or not.
and msm7227 is for unlocking
tut is here - LINK
I wish luck, don't brick your phone, but it's not so hard to understand tutorials if you have right phone and right tutorial.
STEP 4
I totally suggest to install stable rom. The reason is that released 7.1 has bugs and incompatibility with some phones and i haven't got wifi and 3g working , but tried different roms and kernels.
I provide links i got from deani77, big thanks to him.
You can try this link for FXP028 ROM - http://www.multiupload.com/IIWIPG1ALH
For FXP030 kernel try this link - http://hotfile.com/dl/132650338/7b17...USTOM.ftf.html
(that release is RC1 of Cyanogenmod 7.1 but I think it's the best at the moment!)
and you download all the files as usual. Rom zip package should be in the SD card's root folder, so you can easily install it after flashing kernel
STEP 5
installing is quite simple actually. You need to use flashtool that is provided with rom(link in step 3)
firstly you flash kernel. Kernel file is the one you downloaded .ftf file. You have to put that file(X8_custom.ftf) into firmware folder which is inside of flashtool folder.
Then you open flash tool and you click FLASH, then appears little window and you click ok and then you need to plug in your phone into usb while holding down back button. Your phone has to be off when you are doing that. Then flashtool identifies your phone and will flash the kernel into your phone. when everything comes smooth then you now have fxp custom kernel. it has clockworkmod recovery and you need to click several times back button when FreeXperia logo appears.
STEP 6
You have to do factory reset and format, also i suggest from advanced menu using format system.
Then you select from the recovery menu install custom zip... and you browse your rom .zip file and if everything is OK then it should display "installing update or smth" if it's done then good for you, you reboot and it should work.
IF YOU WANT GOOGLE APPS , then google the link and install it same way you did with the rom. You can do it any time.
..
So if anything is not understandable then ask. I'm not an expert or anything, I just did things like I described.
Best,
Henri.
i have still had problems with bootloop and passing md5 checksum any idea on how to fix this?
mm.. at the moment I don't know but what that md5 checksum means?
I fixed my bootloop issue when I flashed back to stock rom, then I just did all the steps I describe again (not unlocking bootloader because it was unlocked already) .. but I don't know what's really does the bootlooping thing. I just got lucky. It took me like billion hours until I got it working...

Chinese Atrix - Questions about FW, Bootloader, Root

Hi Guys!
I know, some people will hate me now because I opened a thread for that.
But the search did not help for chinese FW, so I wanna give it a try here!
I just got a chinese Atrix with the following information in settings:
System Version:45.2.14.ME860.ChinaRetail.en.CN
Android: 2.3.5
Baseband: BP_N_01.41.00R
Webtop: Unavailable
Kernel:2.6.32.9-00007-g9570040 [email protected]#2
Build number: 4.5.3-118_OLY-14
Superuser is already instaled and when i bootup the phone, "Unlocked" is shown in the upper left corner!
What I wanna know:
Is it rooted (yes of course, I think!)
Is the bootloader unlocked (never had a phone that says "unlocked" when booting up with an unlocked BL...)
Can I just flash CM9 for example or is there anything I should be aware of?
Sorry for beeing an Atrix n00b =)
And thanks for all suggestions!
The Unlocked text on the Motorola screen is an indicator that your device's boot loader is unlocked. I would recommend referencing the NOOB threads covering rooting and flashing ROMs for the rest.
Thanks for that!
But it's already rooted (super user is installed and I tried apps that need root).
What I wanted to know is, if I can just flash new roms or do I have to be cautioness, like many threads say: Don't flash back if u use build nr. xyz...

Atrix 4g from Taobao 19 Apr.
Hi muhski,
I am in the same situation.
I just buy Atrix 4g from Taobao and receive it on 18 Apr.
When Gapps is not installed, I was very disappointed and call them to complain.
They ask me to send it back but I tried to get to know the phone more.
System Version:45.2.14.ME860.ChinaRetail.en.CN
Android: 2.3.5
Baseband: BP_N_01.37.00R (Yours is BP_N_01.41.00R)
Webtop: WT-1.2.0-163_11 (Yours is Unavailable)
Kernel:2.6.32.9-00007-g9570040 [email protected]#2
Build number: 4.5.3-118_OLY-14
Superuser is already installed and rooted.
Booting up the phone, "Unlocked" is shown in the upper left corner!
If you do a thorough search, you will know that to start to flash cm9, you need:
1. bootloader unlocked, machine rooted
2. clockworkMod (cwm) flashed
3. then flashing CM will be easy. Just put some zip files in root of sd card and then run ClockworkMod.
See but dun follow the cwm installation:
wiki点cyanogenmod点com/wiki/Motorola_Atrix_4G:_Full_Update_Guide
Your Atrix and mine are probably in stage 1.
Last night I tried to follow the old instruction in the link above to flash cwm.
But the fastest manner to run cwm is by installing Rom Manager instead.
Rom manager is super easy to use and I manage to get it to flash cwm in my Atrix. With cwm running, I boot from it and get cwm to flash Gapps in my Atrix.
Now I got cwm & gapps both running very well.
All my gmail, gPlay, gCalendar, gMap..... running quite well.
The next step I can make is to save cm9 zip files in the root of sd card and run cwm to flash it.
I am currently stuck like you. I wan to flash ics thru cm9 but worrying bricking Atrix. Moto may come up with ics for atrix real soon so I dun know if I want to wait.
Good luck
Sounds like you are on the right track. Once you have cwm flashed you can reboot, hold the volume down rocker as the phone reboots. Once you see another option under the "unlocked" text you can then tap the volume down rocker until you get to the recovery option, then tap the volume up rocker. This will bring up a whole new menu that you can use to clear cache, Dalvik cache and factory wipe.
When I flashed my first ROM I was very nervous that I was going to ruin my phone, but I have flash many ROMs since then some with gapps included and some that require you to flash gapps seperate. I have enjoyed many ROMs and have not run into any problems I couldn't fix by rebooting into recovery.
Good luck and enjoy the ROMs of your choice!
Hey guys!
Thanks for all your help!
First, I forgot to say, it's not the first time doing this stuff xD
It's my third android phone, so all is very similar to the Defy, but still I like to ask one time too often instead of crying about a bricked phone =)
What I have done now: Because bootloader was already open and cwm was already insalled, I could skip the hardest part and jumped right into flashing.
Ok, not really, because I updated cwm to romracers version (not really necessary, but everyone suggested it...)
Right now I'm running Neutrinos CM7 mod because other mods gave me randome reboots
First problem was: My Radio version does not work with this rom! "About phone" says "Baseband unknown".
I went crazy bcs I thought I got a broken phone from taobao, but smart as I am (hrhr) I made a nandroid backup before, flashed it back, and tadaa, with the old backup I had network connection....
So I googled a little more and found out about the Radio-Thread here.
Now I'm testing all the radios to ind the best one...
Good thing is, network connection is working now, bad thing is, it sucks my battery dry like a h**ker that gets too much money
@qqqqaa: does your radio version work with CM9?
Maybe I should try yours...
Can any of you with the Chinese ROM confirm that call recording works on your phone and if possible, do share a dump of your ROM.

[Guide][CDMA R800x] FXP CM7 to CM9 upgrade. (As of FXP 125)

Hi everybody! I'm Dr...
Nah nm. Anyways well the past 2 days I have been working on switching from FXP CM7 to CM9. Needless to say, the process was abit confusing and did run across some snags along the way. So now that I figured it out with some help. I am returning the favor to the community and putting up this guide. (Also this guide is for users who already have an unlocked bootloader and so. So if you are a new R800x user who JUST unlocked their bootloader using testpoint or so, you too can use this guide)
Keep in mind this guide is based on the changes and tweaks from FXP 125!
So for those who are using a R800x CDMA Xperia play, this is for you.
-= The Prep =-
1: You will need the Flashtool to flash the latest ftf from Verizon. agraceful was nice enough to put it on his cloud storage here. http://www.mediafire.com/?yas7dola6dgd8 (You may wanna disable your AV for this as Kaspersky for me, didnt like the file since it uses exploits to do the stuff to your phone) if the cloud storage is down, this is the thread for the flashtool. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351299
2: The latest Verizon ftf file here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696233
3: The latest FXP CM9 (remember its zeusc that you are downloading for!) AND the gapps for ICS! (Very important you use the right gapps here), http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447542
*OPTIONAL* 4: Mjolnir Kernel (boot.img) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708459 (Rename that img file to boot.img) (This is a diff kernel which may have some different features and abilities compared to fxp 125, so take a look and choose, atm it has zRam support (compcache) )
*OPTIONAL* 5: Cdma Carrier Name Fix - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/21955004/Carrier Fix.zip (This can either let you use a custom carrier name or least fix it from saying T-Cdma 64)
6: Of course, fastboot, drivers, and drivers for the flashtool which come with flashtool for flash drivers. (Not covered in this guide, cause if you already have CM7 on CDMA.. I am assuming you already have an unlocked bootloader, drivers etc already installed)
Now once you have everything. Time to do some EXTRA note prep work:
1: Make note of your MDN/MSID numbers. (The phone number and 2nd set of number incase you need to manually program your phone if OTA programming doesnt work)
2: Titanium Backup of your apps/data
3: Put the CM9 zip, cdma mega fix, and gapps ics into the memory card root folder. You will need this here to flash in a bit.
4: Kiss your phone bye bye and tell it you love it and that it will be back online soon if you dont mess it up!
Now you are ready to get started!
-= The Upgrade Install Process! =-
1: Turn your phone off, hold the back button and plug in the usb, You should be in the flash mode. Load up flashtool. (Your PC will install the drivers now if it needs to or the flashtool will error and tell you where the drivers are located to install and run its exe file to install)
2: With drivers ready, phone ready, you can drag the verizon ftf file to the main screen of flashtool. It should start up, give you some notes, tell you what you need to do if needed and just start flashing. Wait till its done fully, then you can close out of it, reboot your phone, if it boots up to Verizon screen setup, you have done the job correctly! Grats!
3: Unplug USB, Turn off phone, hold the search button, then plug in the usb again. You will see a blue light on the power button to tell you that you are fastboot mode.
4: Make sure the boot.img (Either the boot.img from FXP 125 zip file or the downloaded one) is in the same folder as your fastboot command! From cmd prompt, be in the directory of your fastboot and type fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img this should be a quick process and will put the new kernel you need with its cwm recovery built in needed for CM9. After thats done, type fastboot -i 0xfce reboot
5: During the reboot phase, LOOK at the power button. The MOMENT you see it light up "blue" hold the back button. This will load you into CWM where you can get started!
6: Now you SHOULD have your files on your SD card ready to be flashed! If you dont and you forgot. Just go to "mount" and mount the usb storage and then put your files on the sd card. (Silly person forgetting! Remember, its the cm9 zip, cdma fix, and the gapps ics)
7: Now flash the fxp 125 cm9 zip. Will take a min or 2. Once that is done. Do the 4x wipe. Wipe/Factory reset, Wipe Cache, Then goto Advanced, Wipe Devlik, Wipe Battery Stats.
8: Now flash gapps ics
9: (Optional) Flash the Cdma Carrier name fix.
10: Reboot into your phone.
If you see the cool transwarp sliders style android logo. Go WOOT!
-= The Inital Setup =-
Now that you are staring at the new android setup wizard here are my "personal" tips
1: From the setup wizard. I just did the basic, and SKIPPED the sign in part. Get your wifi running once inside if you want. Then load up "Play Market" and sign into google from there.
Why did I do this? Well.. I did it the other way 1st time signed in during the setup process.. and well.. I left the option "Restore phone from google" enabled.. yea.. not smart, next I know its installing EVERY app I had from Google. (Which I guess it was basing it on the google history or using my G1s installed stuff to restore from) By doing it the way above, it doesnt try to start restoring everything. Which is good.
2: Now to program your phone number and so again. Now I did this using pageplus, which is still verizon. For me, the OTA to get my number back in was *228 send. Wait wait wait, and it should program and be done with. Alt numbers are *22890 and *22891 which some update the roaming towers or just an alt form of OTA. Now if none of that works, then do the manual programming.
3: In the market, get titanium backup (and your pro key) and install.
4: The rest you should be able to do yourself as far as restoring goes using titanium backup.
Congrats you are now running ICS CM9 FXP!
Hope this guide helps people who maybe confused and would like a lil thread with something to look over to help them get it going. =)

Hey,
You can make the update, as of FXP125 you don't need a separate kernel to get CWM. It's baked in again. Volume keys get you into it.

I did not have to flash the megafix. All I did was the following (w/ FXP125):
1)Use flashtool to flash new baseband from 2.3.4 FTF (when selecting what to flash, I excluded everything but baseband).
2)Use fastboot to flash the FXP125 kernel.
3)Booted into CWM, wiped data/cache/dalvik cache/battery stats, then flashed FXP125 and the 4/29 Gapps.
Only thing I think needs flashed is the carrier name fix. My phone says T-CDMA 64 again.
Ok thanks. Yea, according to lightningdude the only things in the cdma mega fix was just the gamepad fix (dont know what that is yet) and the cdma carrier name. Gonna try to see about those. While its minor, still good info to have.
Also its being said that we should use V6 Supercharger on the CM9 to improve some games again for XP users.
Ok thanks to lightningdude, I put the cdma carrier name fix in the guide. =)

Ahh OK. That gamepad fix is the patch to the .idc file changing the button map so circle isn't back in some games.
Sounds like the megafix is just all the preferred patches that were applied to paxChristos' CDMA builds.
Yea, just made life easier. Also I excluded the gamepad fix as thats a personal pref.. cause BUTTON_B vs BACK_ALT mapping can break some apps which devs code for one or the other. Normally everyone is using BACK_ALT. Then emulators which can remap it all anyways works fine with it.
Edit: Ok just updated to 125 myself without the CDMA carrier name thing. My Pageplus comes up as Verizon Wireless, so not sure if the patch was needed, but still its in guide as optional, case you want a custom name or you do get that t-cdma 64 issue.

are you saying that steps 3-5 of the install process is not required since its baked in? Sorry, just getting into the more advanced rooting/customization with the r800x. I'm going to unlock the bootloader (put this off for way to long but with the latest "No ICS from Sony/Verizon" i'm just going to move ahead with my own upgrades, then ftf the verizon 2.3.4, and then hopefully be getting ICS.

I'm going to unlock the bootloader (put this off for way to long but with the latest "No ICS from Sony/Verizon" i'm just going to move ahead with my own upgrades, then ftf the verizon 2.3.4, and then hopefully be getting ICS.

Looks like the original instructions have been updated. You should follow the instructions as directed in the OP. Steps 3-5 currently are where you flash the boot.img (kernel) you wish to use. It's either FXP's (which would be extracted from the ROM .zip), or Moljnir's or the other one listed. All three have working Clockworkmod recoveries now. At the time these instructions were originally written the recovery in FXP's kernel was busted, the next FXP build fixed it, and that's when I wrote the post you're referring to.

G900V Re-Activation Lock, BUILD KOT49H.FA44_G900VVRU2APA1 4.4.2

I'm stuck on some developer ROM.. Was trying to follow instructions to get passed the activation lock. So I currently have a barely working ROM installed (as it seems it's for developers). I don't care what version of android I get installed at this point.. Looking for some help. I've been trying to fix it for days now. I don't have access to the icloud email I used to set up the samsung account, that's what started all of this *cries*

You could try using Odin to flash the appropriate firmware though I'm not sure if it would wipe the reactivation lock

@FancyPantsu, do you know what OS version you were running before you had done what, IMHO, you shouldn't have unless you know exactly what you are doing. You didn't actually flash a ROM persay, you flashed, i believe, the engineering ROM or something like that.....let me/us know EXACTLY what Android version you were running before you ODIN'd the factory Tar file. By that I mean OG5, OK3, PB1, PD1, etc. But need that to possibly get you out of your predicament....

Honestly this would be the first time anything like this has happened, haha.. I've flashed many devices with custom roms and never seemed to have this much of a problem. Basically the whole situation was I got the phone from my cousin who didn't need it anymore, she doesn't know her google info (no way of finding out now), so I figured what the hell and started screwing with the phone. Samsung being Samsung.. This happened. I seem to have flashed a dev rom or as you said an engineering rom (which I'm pretty sure it is). If I can remember correctly it was running.. 6.0.1.
If it helps any, I'm up for trying anything I've got plenty of phones laying around at this point, would be nice to have the s5 again though.
**Sorry for the very, very, very late reply!
-Thanks.

All you need is:
1. Install a 4.4.2 with working Samsung Account. It's a little tricky because you cannot downgrade your phone via Odin to 4.4.2. Root that "developer ROM" you have, install Safestrap Recovery and use it to flash a custom stock-near 4.4.2.
2. Boot it and bypass Setup Wizard. It's a little tricky too but is easily done with an OTG cable and a USB stick. There are other methods but I like this one .
3. Create a new Samsung account (or login to your existing Samsung account) from the phone and turn Reactivation Lock off.
After this you'll be able to flash any firmware.

Please, ask questions and I'll answer if I can.
Have a look at the first and the third post in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve.../testers-required-easier-root-method-t3561529
It will give you directions how to root your current rom and to install Safestrap Recovery.
This will be the first step
P.S. Nothing more. Just G900VVRU2APA1, Apex launcher, BusyBox, Towelroot, Safestrap Recovery.

Oh jeez. That's confusing already.. Lol. I've got G900VVRU1ANCG downloaded \, Towelroot v3, Safestrap KLTEVZ
I'm currently booted into the current engineering rom. Next step?
(Sorry if I'm not catching it the first time)

The next step is to read the thread I've given you link to, download files, install Apex launcher, BusyBox, Towelroot, Safestrap recovery. To root engineering ROM.
You'll need some 4.4.2 stock-like ROM to install via Safestrap Recovery. Odin won't work. This ROM will do. You can download it here.
After this you need to reboot to Safestrap Recovery and install kltevzw_NCG_eLLiKat1_0.zip

Alright. Currently I have the files downloaded, moving them over to the sd card now. EMMC_15_VZW_QB2_STOCK_MAGISK_ROOT.zip, EMMC_15_Root_Bootloader_Unlock+S5_QB2_PB1.zip, Towelroot.apk, Safestrap.apk. Missing anything that you can notice? I'll continue to follow the steps and see where it lands me

Supersu.apk missing. My fault, sorry.
1. Copy apk files and kltevzw_NCG_eLLiKat1_0.zip into the phone's memory.
2. Install Apex_Launcher.apk (you'll need to turn Unknown Sources ON) but do not run it.
3. Install BusyBox.apk but don not run it.
4. Install Safestrap_KK.apk but do not run it.
5. Install tr_v2.apk - Open - make it rain (a message "You should have root, no reboot required" should appear) - Back.
6. Install Superuser.apk - Open - Continue - Normal - Reboot.
7. After reboot, in the pop-up window - Apex Launcher - Always - Ok.
8. Menu (dotted button) - BusyBox Free - Grant - close balloon - Install - close balloon - Back.
9. Safestrap - Grant - Agree - Install Recovery - Reboot to recovery. Wait patiently for SafeStrap Recovery to boot.
10. Swipe to Allow modifications - Wipe - Advanced Wipe - Dalvik/Data/Cache - Swipe to Wipe.
22. Back - Back - Back - Install, install kltevzw_NCG_eLLiKat1_0.zip.
Reboot system and now you must have a 4.4.2 phone with Samsung account locked. Next step will be to bypass Setup Wizard.

Got into recovery once. Followed the wrong directions- off the link you gave me. Wasn't supposed to do anything else from there I suppose. Now I reboot to custom binary blocked by reactivation lock. Solution? Gotta redo everything again?

Sorry.
You have to begin again from the start and flash COMBINATION_VZW_FA44_G900VVRU2APA1_VZW2APA1_257265 6_REV00_user_mid_noship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 with Odin.
I'll prepare a detailed guide with files if needed but a bit later.

This question does not concern this discussion.
Your phone is now "clean" and if you flash a factory firmware with Odin and perform a factory reset it will be in a "like new" state.
You'd better begin with these threads:
One
Two
Personally I and my family and my friends use this ROM with the latest firmware for SM-G900V.
