Timeout to turn screen off - HD2 General

hey m8s,
got a problem:
since i use cookies 1.7.1, the smallest timeout to choose in settings to turn off screen on battery is 1 minute.
i remember before i could choose smaller timeouts like 10/20/30 seconds.
the timeout to dim brightness down is 10secs.
i guess there mustbe a registry setting to change this, isnt it?
thanks in advance,
DN41

push....any help?
DN41

I have co0kie's home tab 1.7.1 as well but using S2U2 for locking screen.
The setting that you mentioned is in
Start > Settings > Sound & Display > Backlight
I can and had set it to 10 secs when "On Battery Power" for dimming and 1 min to "Turn off device when not in use".
PS: I found the registry setting after posting the above - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight

thanks. i'll try that.

DeviceLock

Hello,
can I lock automatically my device by clicking on the power button before to switch the screen off? ( or is there an application that performs what i mean? )
Thank You
Have a look into VJDeviceLock or Matt's Yet Another Device Lock.

Hello, Ive tried the first one already. It seems that it's only possible to lock device by clicking every button but the power one...Is it right?
Try Battery Status plugin discussed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751
You can download the latest version here: http://www.chi-tai.info/cs_BatteryStatus_XDA_Neo_WM5_iM_cs.htm
This application does a number of things but locking your phone is one of them. I have it set up so that when I turn my prophet off (the power button) it locks.
I already have latest battery status, but I cannot set it to perform what you are saying. Can You tell me about your settings? Thank You
Start - settings - today - items - scroll to "BatteryStatus" - options - On Wakeup - check "DeviceLock"
Hope this helps.
what about...
start > settings > lock
tick the "prompt if device is unused for" and set the time to "0 Minutes" from the drop down. Then when you tund off, then on, it asks for the password.
Works fine for me!!

Backlight - How to Keep it "ON" without Dimming

Could someone help and let me know how can i keep the Backlight ON continueously when i'm on Battery or External Power, for some reason i can get the PPC to stay on but the backlight "Dimms" after about 2 minutes. Do i need a special program?? (I have SPB Pocket Plus 4 installed but it doesn't help).
Start - Settings - System - Backlight - External power -> Uncheck "turn off backlight if device is not used for"

Thanks, but off-course this is what i tried first, be aware that this keeps the PPC ON but after a few minutes the Backlight is "Dimmed".
If you have more ideas i'd love to hear them.

erm... did you actually try it?
There's 2 menus: Power and Backlight.
If you go to the Power page, yes, light will dim while ppc stays on
But if you change it in the backlight page, the light will not dim at all.

Yes i tried it, but on my Backlight control page the ONLY thing you can do is change the BRIGHTNESS of the Backlight (for both Battery & Extenal Power),
there is no other control possibility there.

There is another tab at the bottom of that page which says 'Battery Power' click this and then you can alter the setting for allowing the backlight to stay on.

Unfortunatly my DoPod-810D WM5 doesn't have such a Tab, so i'm looking for a small program that controls the Backlight Dimmer?
You could edit the registry with the following
Change the keyboard backlight duration
To change the duration of the keyboard backlight, you can set (example is 30 seconds):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\QKeyLedTimeout = 30 (DWORD decimal)
Please note that this may not work on some devices. One such notable exception is the HTC Wizard.

Thanks but even if it worked on my Device this would make it "permanent", what i need is something i can control in the Settings menu.

Screen Backlight

How do you change the time out on the backlight for the screen. I changed it for the keys but my screen goes dark after 5 seconds. Its really annoying when trying to read web pages.

Start menu --> settings --> system --> backlight, "Battery Power" tab, and configure preferred settings.
Also ... Start menu --> settings --> power, "Advance" tab, and configure your preferred settings.
Hope this helps
Yeah I figured it out for some reason the option wasn't under my settings.

Good for you. Just curious, where was that option to configure your backlight, if it wasn't under "Settings"?
Well I installed advance configuration tool and i guess it got rid of it or something. But its under battery setting with that program.

Interesting ... all long as you safely figured it out, that's all that counts
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\QKeyLedTimeout = 30 (DWORD decimal)
30 = 30 seconds

Cant Adjust Backlight... Please Help

I was watching a video in SPB TV when the screen suddenly went dim. I go to Start > Settings > System > Power and see that the backlight adjustment slider for when the phone is plugged in has disappeared . I went back to SPB TV and I can adjust the screen brightness while watching a video but as soon as I exit it the screen goes back to being dim. I think the program might have messed with the registry or something. The phone was plugged in the entire time and I can adjust the screen brightness when the phone is unplugged (thank goodness).
Does anyone have any insight or experience with this problem? I am trying to avoid a hard reset. Is there something in the registry I can check out.
Thanks

Try scrolling from the Home Screen to the "Settings" tab. The third option is "Sound & Display", choose that. Flick down that screen to the "Display->Backlight" option.
Let us know if that doesn't work!

[Q] How to change lockscreen timeout?

Hey guys,
Im using Windows 8 Release Preview (Build 8400)
When not moving the mouse or keyboard, the lockscreen appears exactly after 1 minute. This is really annoying when reading on a webpage or something else...
I googled & searched xda, but found nothing usefull. Also i checked the Windows 8 settings; found nothing.
Is there a way to change the lockscreen timeout?
Maybe with a registry hack?
yes you can change timeout for screen by this step
1-goto control panel and then choose power options
2-you will got two types of plane
3-at Balanced(recommended) right there are (Change plan settings)
Choose it and you will got 3 choices
Choose never to turn off the display& put the computer to sleep
And save it
I hope i helped you?
If you need anything tell me
Bye

Nah, sorry.
I dont mean display timeout. The lockscreen appears after exactly 1 min.
Doesnt matter, what the plan-settings say...
(My settings in the balanced plan are 5/10/60 min.)
Found the solution myself.. Thread can be closed^^
It is the screensaver setting. Even if there is no screensaver set, this affects the lockscreen timeout..
