Japanese characters in Mediascape? - XPERIA X10 General

Hello,
i recently bought X10 and so far i can say that im really happy with phone but i found one thing which kinda bugs me.
I listen to a lot of japanese songs so thx to it a lot of files have original names and it looks that Android can handle them without a problem, even so 3rd party aps but not Mediascape.
Is it possible to make it show them correctly or am i stuck with other aps?
Cheers

I've got several Japanese songs on my X10, and they show up correctly in MediaScape...
What's the encoding on the text used to name the files? Try renaming them (with the same name) using UNICODE.

4)LOGIN once using your account details, then from the third menu(FIND VRINGOS) select any one of the online provided videos to set as your videotone.
5)BUDDIE-LIST-you can also set different video ringtones for different callers by creating a buddie-list and adding your personal contacts.
6)NOW if anyone wants to have their own made videos to be set as videotone, then convert the whole video(max 30 secs) to .3gp format, rename it to pre_vringo & copy it to My device/Application Data/Vringverwrite the previous file & restart the application.
7)REMEMBER-you need to have a working internet connection in order to login to this software, however after logging once,it dont requires it afterwards....try it & enjoy
I guess somebody try this out. Sometimes my phone lags enough as it is if I get a call while streaming music over BT. I probably dont have enough memory for this one a Titan.

This is what I use for 3gp (I just couldn't get a working 3gp from SuperC)
Just tried it on my i900 and it works for the existing videos but when I attempt to use of my own that I have edited to 30seconds or less (tried 30 and 18) it doesn't pick up the file at all?
I then went to upload file, wondering if I can upload it then download it (just out of curiosity) it was saying file size to large.
Not sure if or where I am going wrong, any advice?
Hi,
At Vringo.com I found a great selection of video ringtones from TV shows, movies, and bands.. It's also a great mobile video sharing site which allows to find and create video ringtones and then share them with our friends.

If I'm wrong, let me know. I haven't found a way to just add buddies any other way.

Midomi - Windows Mobile (Try it out)

This application is truly AMAZING much better than MusicID - it found every song a threw at it and found it easily, ported from the Omnia here is the link:
http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-ii-http-i8000-modaco-com/291182/samsung-omnia-ii-apps-cab/
Also when you first install it it only works over Wi-Fi so you have to change this reg entry to make it work over Data Conection
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Melodis\Midomi\midomiGU IDType
from 3 to 1"
Also the menu button crashes the application but i dont see what it is needed for anyway - runs very well on my xperia
It indeed works pretty good! thnx for sharing!

Finds in the internet the info about the piece of music it hears.
SE phones had it, I had it on my P1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543101
it still needs to be repackaged with the missing some files
it never finds the right music. i think my singing/huming skills are really ****
I tried 5 songs and it did find...... 0 of them.
are you using the sing aplication or the record from speaker thingy? cuz i tried the second one and i got like 8 out of 10 correctly... even from tv and radio and from my computer... even songs from soulfly and stuff!
The latter one.
I tried it and all it does is "error in recording"...
Try my version on my signature.
No need to modify the registry.
You can install on Device/Storage Card/Internal Storage/RAMdisk as your choice.
Thank you!
Only thing here is the menu does not work(on a X1) and after some seconds closes the app ....which I then found out it is a known bug...
Any solution though?
i tried it......it works great...... it even find chinese songs.... but the song name is returned in english... = ="
the one on SE's K850 can return chinese name...... but it's good enough already
thanks for sharing
Thanks for the reg solutions
Great found
Absolutley legendary app NICE FIND.
It found a lot of my dancehall tracks and even founr Kings Of Leon sex is on fire when i sang it !
Those who do not want to edit the registry manually to switch between GRPS and WLAN online mode can use this tool to simply switch between the modes:

new version in marketplace
for those that don't know, version 2.0 is in the marketplace..finally with a history tab to save all your searches
only problem is it loads IE for youtube videos and not skyfire (or other default browser) but still works the same
really nice app but can't find the exact songs that i wanted. Hmmm...maybe my singing skill really sucks haha
link? version 1.6.57 keeps giving "Error in recording" and when I press update it says "server error" so please post or send the link to version 2, maybe that will work on my Touch PRO
I was recently refunded midomi from the marketplace for somereason, and apparently it has been removed from the market place because it had to many problems??? :S
any 1 else heard this or experience similar?

Have you tried hard reset?
I tried hard reset twice.
The last one I deleted all folders with photos from my sd card before perform Hard reset, and then I tried to use HTC album. The issue continues.
Solution
The HTC Album finally works!
The solution? I removed IGO8 folder from my SD card.
But, I couldn't understand why a GPS software crash the HTC album.
I like IGO very much, but it's really incompatible with HD2.
iGO has nothing to do with it.
If IGO8 hasn't influence with it, why after I removed IGO folder from SD card de htc album returned to work?
You just said a simple phrase but didn't explain a thing. Try to be a little bit useful.
I have the same behavior since I've installed Igo 8.3.4 . When I open Htc Album it starts to look for every image file I have in my storage card and when it gets to the Igo8 folder, the album just closes whitout any warning. I'm using Dutty Leo HolyGrail R0 rom, but I don't think that it's a rom problem, since it started right after I installed Igo 8.3.4
Maybe if there's a way to order Htc album not to look into Igo8 folder this problem would be solved... Is there any way to do such thing?
Edit: As a matter of fact I've checked and the problem is not with HTC Album, it is with WM album... So if there's any way to make the windows album skip or just not read the Igo8 folder, I assume it would solve my problem.
HTC Album is horrible. It will auto-search all possible images and videos in the device. Use other image/video manager tools.
hum... all right but suppose I do like the album the way it is, so still I need to find a way to tell windows album searcher to ignore Igo8 folder... Any help with that?
Go into registry and make the htc album ignore the iGO folder and the problem is solved.
64. Disable Unwanted Folders From Showing in HTC Album
Don't you find it annoying that HTC Album Shows lots of images you don't need to see when you select Albums like GPS poi icons? Now you can tell HTC Album to ignore certain folders.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/HTCAlbum/Ignored and add a NEW STRING VALUE
Eg if there is iGO8 in the root of the Storage Card you would create a NEW STRING VALUE with Value name iGO8 and Value Data \Storage Card\iGO8
This will include all subfolders inside the iGO8 folder. Save and reset.

Oh, sorry about that!!! I swear I used the search tool but I think I was just too sleepy to really find it at 3:00 AM...
Well, I'm going to try it and I'll tell you here if it works for me, but I have one doubt: How do I insert the inverted slash (\) with the htc keypad? It seems to have only the regular slash (/). Does it make a difference?
And thanks very much for your help!!!

Yes, I noted that / is there. I meant how can I insert \. You see, is the same slash, but backwards. I'm just asking because I don't know if the registry "sees" a difference between:
\Storage Card\iGO8
and
/Storage Card/iGO8
Got it? I mean: If i type like the last example I gave to you, the registry will "understand" it right? Or will it only work if I type with the \, like in the first example?
On the second page of the symbols is the \.
When you press the symbol button there's a 1/2 on the left. Press it.

It's not the registry that uses these values. Think of the registry as a database - nothing more.
Anyway, I did mean \, not /. It's on page 2 of the numbers and symbols keyboard ("12#", "1/2").
Oh, thank you both for your lightining fast answers!!!! I gess you all realized I'm a noobie here, hehe... And I'm now glad to say that my problem is gone and the album works like it should now!!!
Thank you very much!!!

display chinese in htc audio player (sense)

Hi all,
i've installed the attached cab to display chinese in windows mobile. Works like a charm. In explorer i can view the chinese names, but in the media player it still displays corrupted characters. I do have some mp3 that display correctly in the htc audio player. Look here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~mouki9
There is one chinese.cab and there are 2 of my mp3's one displays correctly and one not. Can someone help me find the difference? In mp3tag i can't find any differences. It cracks my head because i thought with the chinese.cab all my chinese display problems were gone, apparently not
Many thanks in advance!!!
edit: example1 displays incorrectly and example2 displays correctly
same problem here!

not sure if this will help but here goes:
1. right click on ur example one mp3 file, select properties
2. select the details tab
3. where it says title, replace what is already there with the song name(so that its readable, atm you cant read the chinese on it).
4. edit the artist details if you wish!
5. hit apply and transfer to phone.

the problem is that i CAN read it on the pc AND the hd2. In Resco explorer it displays the filename just fine. Only in htc audio player there is a difference. Also tried it with coreplayer and wmplayer, both have the same symptoms

strange, i renamed your example 1 file using the method provided above and it worked fine on my hd2 using the sense player. Give my method a go and see if that changes anything
Which cab/chinese font did you install? I used Ricky's chineses font. No problem so far.

can you post a cab?
never mind, found it. gonna try the ricky font, as the other suggested method didn't work...
okay, the other fonts suffer the same problem, i'm almost positive it's the mp3 and something with the tags.....
omg, now setting the old font back and suddenly i cannot view chinese anymore in htc audioplayer..... in resco explorer everything is still ok.......
okay, using the ricky fonts now and used mp3tag to set everything again, namely delete the comment and copy past name from google and now it finally works!!!!!!
mods, thread close please!

I think maybe you two are talking about different things here:
zellbz, you want to edit the ID3 tags on the mp3's, so the correct info shows for album, artist, etc, right? If so, then THIS is the only one I've found. It's a playlist maker, but it also has the ability to edit ID3 v1.1 tags, can't do v2 yet.
jayvo, it sounds like you want to trim MP3's so you can use them that way, yes? If so you can try the attached cab...I know it works on the TP2 and many other recent HTC winmo phones, you're welcome to give it a try on your HD2
yes i want to change the id3, if you where trying to post a link it didn'twork so can you do it again or tell me the name of the .cab.
