I'm quite new to WM and I'm having a bit of trouble :/
I installes S2U2 and after a while, i got bored of it and wanted to go back to the the default lockscreen, so I uninstalled it.
The problem is that now there is no lockscreen, and pushing the power button unlocks the device straight away. If there anything I can do to correct this without hard ressiting the phone?
I had the same happen after using Cookies Home Tab lock screen and then reverting back to the Standard one.
I too was dreading a Hard reset to return it to normal but .. there is a way to fix it
Install BSB Tweaks - Launch the tool and then locate a setting 'Auto Lock' and turn it on if it's off.
Press Menu at the bottom and then choose Soft Reset.
You'll now find the lock working as normal

I want to use an application to control it, can it be disabled?
Im not aware of an application designed to do what you are asking. However, you can use power manager to change the profile to keep the phone awake all the time. It would still lock when in standby, AFAIK.
Kieth
Settings->sound & display->screen timeout->never
Turning off the screen timeout off wont disable autolock. And yes, there are "slider" programs that immitate the iphone unlocked, which gets annoying to use when i have to hit menu to get out of autolock, and do the slider.
Go to anycut create an activity for setup wizard when it says touch screen, touch and quickly remove the battery, when you restart it will be disabled but you also loose the home key function, along with the green function, but it works if you can live without those.
that worked great but i dont think i can live with out the home and call buttons, how do i get them back?
Just run the wizard again and follow it through till the end and reset your phone.
ok, this is quite irritating and i wondered whether users here experienced the same problem.
basically happens in the home screen( most of the time) or in some other apps (seldom).
Instead of the manilla button on the left and the Menu button on the right, sometimes it will disappear and will be replaced by the keyboard button in the center.
The only way to get my left and right buttons are to soft reset / pressing the "about" in keyboard.
I sometimes experience this for unknown reasons. to work around it I press the windows button and then the home button (hard keys) and then the soft keys return. if in another application then exit and reload app. I'm running o2 stock rom 1.43 (uk).
Yeah I get this too. I think it's something to do with an app I've installed. I either drop down Dutty's Task Manager and pull it back up, which refreshes the screen, or you can press the start tab and then go back to the home screen and it should be fine. I don't think you need a soft reset, at least I don't.

i think it has to do with dutty's or touch X task manager. installing those made this happened. or maybe its a coincidence?
i tried to install some lockscreen theme for my HD2 which didn't work...i uninstalled that program but now i can't see my "slide" button...i did the soft reset and everything but still i can't see the slide button...i also tried holding the call cancel button and tried to lock the phone...but that didn't work...
How do i go back to original lockscreen with slide button?
rushin25, you can try installing the original lockscreen .cab I've attached, followed by a soft reset.
thanks a lot sean3...that really helped..
Lock screen suddenly stopped working without me changing any settings, etc. Tried a couple of fixes and now the off button no longer sends the phone to sleep, instead it just freezes the whole phone. I have to then hold it for 2-3 seconds to get the "Turn phone off ... lock phone ..." popup > press cancel > phone returns to home screen and it's working again.
As I write this, I've removed "Chris' lock slider middle" app and now the off button sends the phone to sleep. But when I wake it up, the home screen flashes/blinks as it does so.
Loads of info comes up on forum search, but I haven't been able to find a straightforward fix. Any ideas? The problem with this is that the phone keeps waking up (to home screen) in its pouch when in my pocket etc - not good because random things can then happen.
EDIT: Have just removed the password unlock option and that has at least stopped the screen from flashing/blinking on wake up. But still no lock slider.
Thanks

lock
Usually for example after flashing is necessary to lock device ones in WM itself. Have you already tried this simple procedure?
Press HW button with WM logo - > at bottom menu press "Lock"
I haven't flashed the ROM - it's a stock unbranded one.
Pressing WM logo button > lock = shows the old style lock message, not the slider. The weird thing is that even this doesn't work when I'm running Sportypal. And I use Sportypal to record my runs/mtbing - hence I need to be sure the phone locks properly when this and GPS is on in the background, otherwise the home screen get activated (by movement) and anything can happen.
Am also running CHT 1.8.5, B&B tweaks ...
Cheers

You guys are running a lot more programs than I am, but I just had the lock slider screen disappear again after installing a small program. This has happened before, too.
To get the slider screen back I just have to press on the bottom right end hardkey and then press "Lock Device." The slider screen comes back and then reappears each time the screen shuts off.
You've probably already done this.

Yes I have, but the slide lock doesn't appear. It reverts to the "To unlock the device, tap Unlock" screen instead. I.e the whole slider thing just doesn't exist anymore.
I thought I might be able to change it using CHT Editor 1.8, but it won't launch (never has) - I just get the same error as always:
"CHTEditor.exe
NullRefernceException
at
CHTEditor.CHTEditor_MainWindow.Check
Version()
at
CHTEditor.CHTEditor_MainWindow.RunSt
artupProcess()
at
CHTEditor.CHTEditor_MainWindow..ctor()
at CHTEditor.Program.Main(String{}
args)"
I've read that you can "control" the slider from within CHT Editor but unfortunately I've never been able to open it. All I can do it use home screen > menu > Edit quick links OR Edit home layout.
Any other ideas?
Thanks

ohh, now I have the same problem ones
I have installed CHT 1.8.5 and uninstaled Metro lock ... seems to be a problem of new CHT, better check the original CHT thread, maybe someone already solve it
I uninstalled 1.8.5 and installed 1.8.5.1.
CHT Editor now launches properly so I've set up the CHT lock slider to work - and it does. I still have to click WM > lock > on/off for it to do it though - but that's not really a problem. Still no sign of the original HTC lock slider though.
Only other problem is CHT Editor can no longer be launched via home screens > menu > CHT Editor. It says it's not installed. I guess this is because when I originally installed CHT it was set to open 1.8.5 - and now that's been uninstalled, it needs to point to 1.8.5.1. I'll have a search for that - but I'm hoping everything is available via the app icon anyway because that works.
Hi, on my current WinMo 6.5.5 ROM, whenever I press the red (hangup) button to turn the phone screen off, then press any button to wake the HD2 back up, it always reverts to the Sense Home Tab. Instead I want it to stay exactly where it was when I turned off the screen. So that if I left it on a web page, or an open email, or Total Commander etc, that is where it remains when I turn the screen back on.
Is there some setting or registry edit somewhere to control this behaviour?
Slide to unlock 2 (S2U2) is a program that features a lot of options, and by default unlocks back to the window open at the time of lock.
Is there any way to change this setting in the default WinMo options/registry though, without installing another third party utility like S2U2? Some ROMs seem to remain on the active screen upon wake without any difficulty, so it must be easy to do..??
