is it possible to switch thems and roms without connecting to computer?

Hi guys,
I was wondering if it's possible to switch between roms and themes with gonnecting to the computer? I was thinking that I could download the different themes and roms I wanted to my sdcard and use astro or something similar to rename the one I want as update then do the power of and home+end boot and install update file. I'm not at home right now to download the roms &themes to try this, but I was wondering if anyone else has?

Yes. I've never used a computer to place files onto my G1. I do all my modifying directly on my G1.

How do you save the zip files to your sd? When you click on the link and download, does it save straight to sd?

No, it saves to the external hard drive i have plugged into my G1.

dude, on second thought, how bad ass could that be if we could reverse engineer the usb controller and actually mount something like that? that would be kinda sick looking...."so im running my website off of my G1 and this WD 500GB HD i got the other day from ebay......"

I think you mean your MicroSD card hahaha, at the moment I don't think it is possible to hook up an external hard drive to your G1.

ASTRO allows you to download any file. So does download crutch once you have it on your phone.

i just use ftp on my phone... works best for me

According to the Qualcomm pdf about the g1 it does suppoert usb host mode, there just isn't software support for it. G1 well supports video out via usb as well. The leaked pdf has been removed from the host sites, under copyright law , so please don't ask for it.

The only one i've noticed that will let me move files though is oi file manager. So just create a folder on your external hd and just move the files and rename update... There how hard is that no computer needed

I switch ROMS and Themes if I wanted to on the mobile quite easily. Use GScript and basically organise your SD Card. For example I have a folder called "os" and inside that I have folders for Dude, Haykuro, Cyanogen etc and inside those folders are the latest releases renamed as update.zip.
Same for themes, have a folder called "Themes" and then folders with the name, such as Hero, Android Plus etc with the update.zip's inside.
Using GScript you would then make a script telling the phone to copy the relevant update.zip you want into memory and flash it - All from the touch of the screen.

How Do I Do: (FPSECE RELATED)

1. How/where do I get a ROM of a playstation 1 game? please don't post your favorite rom site, instead pm me it. no warez allowed.
2. how should I create an iso file of this downloaded rom?
(many of the downloads are 7zip and when extracted end up being a .bin and a .cue file.
3. how do I use pocketISO to make this iso file usable by my T-Mobile HD2?
4. Once I put the iso in the ROMS folder of my card, how do I run the rom?
5. I'm interested in the following games: Metal Gear Solid, Driver, Gran Turismo 2, and Tekken 3. (please pm me where you downloaded them)
By the way, I used to own all these games, but I lost them moving :/ so I can't really get the iso from the disc. That's why I wanted to know where you found your ROMS.
Also, I noticed on a lot of sites there's like 20 parts and 2 discs :/ what does this mean?

you get a pdf of instructions with the program, just put the bin on your sd card done

that's for copying to cd you don't need it, also there is a thread on there forums about using the ISO program

oh ok cool I'm getting it up and running. one question though!
when I run fpsece and select a rom it starts and after the sony logo it just goes to the home of my phone but has the fps in the top left.

put the cab file anywhere on your phone and run it.

You'll probably do more CABS, so I suggest creating a CAB folder on the root of your SD card... Easier to keep track, then.

It's a winner, I keep a copy of my cabs on my laptop and another on my SD card for easy of use when flashing from ROM to ROM.

do I have to do anything else to the phone? like u would jailbreak an iphone? i unzipped the folder and put it on the storage card but when i select setup nothing happens :/

You don't unzip it. You run the .cab file as it is.

ok i am confused lol when i downloaded it from this forum it is in a zip file and actually doesnt have a.cab file in the zip file

Are you sure it isn't just a .cab? WinRAR opens them like they are zip files.

ok I have got it installed now and i want to use it to rotate office but when i bring up the rotate menu the office apps are not listed?

Can you not add it in the options, by shaking the phone while in the office app?

this doesn't appear to work. I have the HTC HD2. I open the office app and when I shake it nothing happens. Should it?

Follow the instructions in BsBtweaks.

Thank you I have now managed to add them to the list, ticked them, did a soft reset but they are still not rotating. Its just not my night lol

Updating to EB13 - [Error] Missing Asphalt Demo

EDIT: This will also work if you are trying to update to EC05.
For those of you that are having issues with updating to EB13 because of one click root deleting the Asphalt Demo, I have found a solution. I had the same problem. When trying to update via CWM I would get an error message saying the Asphalt demo was missing from the system apps folder.
To get around this, you'll need root access the preloaded asphalt demo, and root explorer.
1) Download the asphalt demo pulled from the stock D18 rom.

2) Place the file onto your sd card.
3) open root explorer, press the "Mount R/W"
4) find the asphalt file, long press and hit copy.
5) use the back key and find the system folder.
6) within the system folder, find the app folder.
7) once inside the app folder, press the paste button.
8) reboot into CWM
9) now retry updating with your update.zip via clockworkmod and enjoy froyo!
Note: Updating does remove OneClickRoot so you will need to reinstall after updating. Hope this helps everyone!
If you get errors regarding the playlogo while trying to update in cwm, reboot and remove the oneclickroot after all these steps. here is the uninstaller noobnl and firon provided: http://firon.net/xda/one.click.stock.flasher.&.root.uninstaller-di18.zip

hey i tried this method an it still not letting me upgrade to froyo. i have the stock eclair an its rooted an i don't have clockwork i have the original samsung boot screen an im using drop box to get the update.zip to my sd card my computer cant find my phone but i have the file in my sd card first it was complaining about the asphalt demo now its telling me sd card problem abort 7 something like that whats next

Anyone get the ota update after installing asphalt?

Or you could just take the commands that remove asphalt out of the the run.bat in the oneclickroot. Here's the file I used, the only change is that the two game apks that it removed are now left in place. Just unzip the file over top of the run.bat in the original one click. Hope it helps.

I never bothered to look before I rooted, but did EB13 come with Asphalt again? I figured it was replaced with the "Play HD games" one.

It doesn't sound like you used the one click root method, as you need a computer to do this. Do you remember how you rooted? What exact error are you receiving when updating the zip file?

No it wont reinstall them but if you odin to DI18 and then use the run.bat i posted instead of the one that comes with the one click root then it will not remove them.

Just realized in the my files application that i still have the gameloft folder with a folder inside named games and another inside of that named asphalt5 inside of that there are many files with the name of raw and numbers following them along with a few other files.

You may be able to push the file to the system app folder through your computer and adb, but I'm not sure how to do that. Maybe someone with more experience can help.
Unless there is another app that allows you to paste files into the system folder for free. I only know of root explorer that does this.
Even though you have the folder on your sd card, you still still need the actual apk within the system app folder. I tried downloading the demo and that won't work.

[Q] How to back up the default games that come with the phone

Hi all,
I am a greedy guy, I want all the games that come with the PLAY, even the game is crap..
hence I was wondering what is the best way to backup all the games like the sims, brucelee, crashbandicoot and madden nfl11. which i can always load it back when I feel to look at the intro.. or just because i can..
I know game from gameloft i can easily obtain the apk and make a backup using appssaver...
but how about brucelee or crashbandicoot? how can i remove yet have control to load it back without reset to factory.

in root explorer (if phone is rooted) go to system/apps all the apks are in there that you can copy and paste to a memcard! That will back the game up but im not sure about games saves

they certainly are, so is tetris, star battalion etc! however, when restoring them you must copy them back to where you found them.

every application even system apps need an .apk, its not just an installer but the executable part of the application like an .exe in windows
