Hi,
On the i8000's is there an option to disable the setup/provisioning of APN's/data connection settings when a SIM card is inserted?
We are building a bunch of devices that have a private APN set and when the SIM is inserted it then provisions the phone with the public APN & we can't use our application until we provision the settings again.
HTC devices had an option to disable "Connection Setup". I'm really hoping Samsung have something as well.
Is anyone aware of a registry setting or another option?
Cheers

Don't really know what you mean when you say private APN(Too technical for me) but How about putting it into flight mode and then re-enabling once you have input your settings?
Does it not ask you "A new sim card has been detected do you wish to change your settings to **Name of network**" on start up?

Hello everybody,
I live and work in densely congested WiFi areas. So whenever I switch on my WiFi connection to use it, I keep getting bombarded with the message "multiple networks detected" which i then have to hide only to be hit with another five seconds later. It is seriously annoying and makes anything I have to do over WiFi very painful.
I have discovered PocketWinc which is a serious improvement on navigating WiFi networks. I would love to simply use PocketWinc as my network selection and disable any of the in-built capability. Does anyone know how to stop the built-in software from scanning and reporting new networks? Is there a registry setting to disable the automatic scan or at least to stop the dreaded popups???
Any help greatly appreciated. Thx. Ian
I am not 100% sure about this but check your registry under :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WLan\StringTable
Check the value of the item called "Recover WiFi".
If it is not set to 0, try setting it to zero.
Is this anygood?
http://www.dcs.gla.ac.uk/~hall/WiFiFoFum/utils.htm
I think that application just does what I specified above.
It can also completely diable WZC Wireless if you want to use another program to manage your wireless connection.

I just checked and I don't have a WLAN service shown under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services. In fact I checked through the whole registry and I couldn't find anything resembling something WiFi ' ish. That said I am new to the PPC registry.
P.S. I am on Windows Mobile 2003SE if that makes any difference.
Anyone know what registry setting I change in WM2003SE to disable the WZC since I don't seem to have the one mentioned above? Or can anyone confirm that WZCDisabler will work on WM2003SE?
Thanks again!
Ian.
I am also on Windows Mobile 2003 SE on a BlueAngel.
What device do you have ?
I am surpirsed you don't have this setting.
It is likely that the WZCDisabler will work but it disables ALL of WZC, not just the popups.

Its an HTC Magician using a SanDisk 256Mb+WiFi SD Card. Here are the registry entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Services:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\BTAGSVC]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\BTIcon]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\CallerID]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\HandsFree]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\HTTPD]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\HTTPD\Accept]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\HTTPD\Accept\TCP-443]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\HTTPD\Accept\TCP-443v6]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\HTTPD\Accept\TCP-80]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\HTTPD\Accept\TCP-80v6]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\MSMQD]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\OBEX]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\RPS]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\ScreenRotate]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\SMSReceiver]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\Trusted]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\USSD]
BTW, I don't mind disabling WZC alltogether as I believe PocketWINC gives me the equivelant.
Ian
It's possible that your don't have WLan setting because you are using this SD WiFi card.
Did the card come with any drivers or utilities to install for managing wireless connections ? It could be this rather than WZC that is creating the popups.
Hey,
I just installed WP7, it's all running very smooth but my Wifi doesn't find any networks and I don't know how to set my APN settings.
I read other posts saying go to settins->mobile network and then edit apn. But I only see Add apn which asks for a username and a password?
Help would be appreciated.

Are you T mobile? All I did was put the carriers name. I have T mobile so i put "T-Mobile US" and left the rest blank. Worked for me.
apn
apn: epc.tmobile.com
user name: blank
password: blank
works for me (tmous) been using it for a couple hours. had one random reboot, but all good after that
I had the same problem, I use HI although he suggest i'm on KPN but you have insert in the APN section: portalmmm.nl
Wifi doesn't see any networks at all? Odd.
Wifi's working well enough for me. I did notice some pretty weird stuff, though:
It seems to be impossible to find out your wifi MAC address from within WP7 - I had to browse through my router's logs for it.
Once I found it, though, I soon realized that it was actually useless to know in the first place, since the MAC address seems to change every boot with this ROM (forget about restricting access to your network based on MAC).
While modifying router settings to get the phone to connect, WP7 also froze on me a few times.
WP7 will not connect at all with networks with a hidden SSID.
It would seem there's still some room for improvement on the wifi front.
I've the same problem with Wifi since i flash the OS with a SD cards !If i remove this one, all works fine!
wifi workig great here with conectify as AP. mac is changed on every restart also.
My wifi works and the phone shows a 3g, H etc signal, but I cant sent mms
Prepaid T-Mobile service
I believe the problem with the settings are not for the regular T-Mobile service, but for the Prepaid T-Mobile service (SimpleMobile), there is no place configure the APN with all the necessary settings like: Proxy, Port, MMSC, MMS proxy, MCC, MNC, etc.
If anyone finds a way to setup this values on HD2WP7 please post here.
Thank you in advance
Load the attached connection setup xap and run it, it will automatically apply your carrier settings for 3G and mms. Worked perfect for me (TMoUSA)
How do I load this file? I already tried it from the phone, but it doesn't work.
Does anyone know how I could sync to outlook with my hd2 wp7
When go to settings > celuar, click on automatic, then press manual. When you have done that you see a button sais APN. Click on it and put this in (Vodafone)
APN: live.vodafone.com
user: vodafone
pass: vodafone
All done, now It works (for me anyway). Wifi sucks on some SD cards, don't know wich ones.
Also there is somwhere here a APN list for alot of country's and providers. Search google XDA APN settings or so.
Thing this would work for getting ATT 3G and MMS working?
Yes, as long you as you put youre own providers APN settings It should.
I can't configure the apn settings, and the HTC Connection Setup show me this message: "the carrier doesn't exist in database. Please contact your carrier for connection setting and go to Setting>Cellular>edit APN for further configuration"...
Is there a way add my carrier the the database of the connection setup?
Any luck with the WIFI issue?
I've tried the above mentioned solution by removing the SD C & reboot again but i didn't work for me.
I have an HD2 (australian -Telstra NextG) 1.72.841.0 WWE Rom.
Works fine with the Telstra Sim and Data access is fine.
I'm setting up with an alternate sim - "Roaming Sim" (Sim with UK based number and data) so I can ease the roaming costs when I travel outside Australia.
New Sim works fine on voice calls, but there is a block when I try to access data.
The following message is displayed ...
Message ID:
FILTER_DENIED
Problem Description
Your system was configured to deny access to this URL.
Possible Problem Cause
Request denied, as specified in the local filter list configuration.
Possible Solution
Contact your network support team if this problem persists.
Data connection is fine with the Telstra Sim, but with the alternate sim and settings the above block stops any data access.
Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks
who is the sim with in the uk?
Settings -> All Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advanced -> Select Networks -> Edit (if you already have the details) or New (if you don't) for the data connection for the SIM. Make sure that all the settings are correct for the new SIM (you can easily find them with a search of the internet).

The sim is marketed under the name "Roaming Sim" - for international travel - I believe it is an Irish based company, but the number is +44 prefix so a UK based number.
Their help desk was not very helpful "there is money in your account so things should work properly" and "no-one here has a HTC HD2, so we don't know what to suggest".
Thanks.

Thanks for the trail of where to change the settings - I've set the sim up as per their meager info and I've checked their web site for any info on the problem I'm having - nothing specific to assist there.
On a web search I found mention of a similar error message related to PCs and it was pointing to Proxy setting issues, but there are no Proxy Setting in Cellular Line (GPRS) setup (in setting up the APN for this sim).
I've also done a google of the exact error message in quotes and come up with no listings, hence me coming to the gurus at xda.

No I've checked that with supplier and Data is enabled with the sim.
I've contacted the Australian supplier of the sim and I'm waiting on their tech guru to phone me to try and work through the problem. I'll post if/when I get some resolution.
But don't let that stop you guys from having a go - so far the sim supplier's technical assistance has been very pleasant, but less than actually helpful at resolving the problem.

ok made sure you got the correct internet settings in the phone?
Thanks for the assistance - I have discovered the problem - it was me (obviously).
When I set up the New Network Settings I did not select Proxy settings and therefore did not check "This network connects to the internet".
If you do this (as above) then save - you can't come back to fix the error because you are not offered the Proxy Settings tab if the box wasn't checked on setup.
I've now set up a New network setting, (with Proxy- This network - checked) and I can now access data and URLs.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out, perhaps this might assist another nooby down the track.
Just got the phone, rooted it. Its working, I can make calls but I wanted to get the APN correct
I goto settings and click on more. I dont see any menu for APN... Anybody else have this issue? Axon 7 U model
Correction... I found it.
You have to goto
Dual Sim settings, slide all the way down to Mobile networks then click on Access point Names. To create an new APN you have to click on the + button at top right and fill in all the blanks according to the Cell phone company you are using the phone with then you have to save the APN
BTW the phone choose to create its own APN, Im guessing from the SIm card I inserted, and its working fine. Same settings the ATT website says to use. Good signal.
Settings > Dual SIM Settings > Others: Mobile Networks > (sim slot) > Access Point Names
As a follow up question regarding APN.... Does anyone know the proper one for Verizon? I have 4 come up(2x2of the same)
On OP5 we have dual SIM. I use two SIMs from two providers and I want to change only default mobile data provider when I'm on a specific location.
I tried with:
Code:
adb shell settings put global multi_sim_data_call 2
If I check with
Code:
adb shell settings get global multi_sim_data_call
, I get value 2. I have checked also on phone (Settings -> SIM & Network -> Mobile data) and it really changed. So command works.
BUT - the phone still shows and uses the previous setting.
Any idea how to force the phone to restart network or something similar?

Why not using the quick settings toggle on oos for changing data sim? Or do you use another rom?

My main idea is changing a data SIM with Tasker. My first provider has bad coverage in my valley and I want to change it automatically.
On the other hand - I'm on OOS, but how do you mean using the quick settings toggle? Can I (at least) create a shortcut for this settings? I didn't find that.

You need to add this toggle to your quick settings menu
Tnx. This should be good enough for now. I don't know how I missed this icon.
Well, maybe I thought that this will change default SIM card for calling and SMS, but it works as I want - just change default "mobile data".
