Namedays / All day events - HD2 General

I imported the Hungarian namedays database into my calendar. It works great and I find it useful. As far as I can understand, the nameday entry is an all-day-event.
My only complaint is that now my appointments field on the home tab is quite cluttered. If I open up the calendar in Pocket Outlook, these all day events are hidden; something that I would like similar in the HTC calendar application and on the home tab.
Is there any way to filter / tell the HTC Calendar app to show/hide the namedays?

Categories in Appointments

Is it just me or is it not possible to assign the Outlook categories to a new appointment in the HTC Calendar.
When trying to assign a category is comes up with 5 default categories (they don't exist in my Outlook Categories). But if I assign them from Outlook on the PC they are shown correctly.
And in the standard Windows Calendar it is possible to select from all categories, but a bit irritating that you have to go into the standard calendar just to assign a category to an appointment.
I agree with this too.
It's also missing a stop watch and timer app, basic programs I thought.

detailed recurring appointments

Hi
Has anyone figured out any way to get more detailed recurring appointments? In previous htc phones/wm versions, I had the option to setup appointments every X days, or weeks, or Y days before end/start of the month etc.
In the current setup there are 4 or 5 basic options and thats it.
workaround
Btw. the workaround Im using is editing the appointments in outlook on my laptop and then synching, but would be nice to do from the hd2 itself.
If you close sense and go back to the windows default as you home screen, you get back the default calander app.
Use Start - Outlook - Calendar instead of the htc calendar, which opens the outlook calendar rather than the htc one, and gives you many more options in the new appointment screens.
fantastic, thanks guys!

Agenda for the whole year in calendar

I know that neither default calendar nor Microsoft calendar can display a list of events in agenda for the whole year or more.
The questions is is it possible to hack this? or use another third party calendar?
Another feature I miss is that the dates where events are present are NOT marked in a "year view". Say, in default HTC calendar days which contain events could be RED, days without event default black. Would be nice?

Click to collapse
It would be very nice indeed. Until that happens, try using Manila Today Page and putting Today Agenda as the plugin for it.

Calendar Appointments not showing in Agenda Widgets

Some of my calendar appointments do NOT show up in any agenda/calendar widget I have tried.
I have two google-based calendars (work and personal). All appointments from both calendars DO show up in the calendar *application*.
However, only appointments in my personal calendar (default gmail account) show up in ANY widget, and NONE AT ALL show up in the default calendar widget.
As far as widgets are concerned, I have tried:
- Default
- Jorte
- Smooth Calendar
- Agenda Widget
Has anyone had a similar issue/any known workarounds/widgets which DO work?
Thanks!
Augusto
I use "Smooth Calendar" and have multiple calendars synced with it. These include calendars I own and ones I am sharing.
All of them show up in the widget no problem.
I recommend using it, as it is the nicest calendar widget I have found. One tap on it will let you enter config, refresh or calendar. Under config you can select which calendars will show up.
Cheers
Have tried it, but it doesn't work (and I would prefer more calendar entry lines).
I forgot to mention that my work calendar is automatically picked up by the calendar system as it is a shared calendar visible from my personal account.
Ill try to remove the "shared" view and add it explicitly in the calendar app.
Thanks - any more suggestions welcome.
Agenda widget
Does somebody now a widget for the Xperia X10 like the agenda widget on the Samsung Galaxy SII? You can scroll in that one.
any chance to sync to google??
use pure grid calendar widget:
choose android auto select for calendar input source
go to applications and sync, google account, then sync calendar
refresh the app with it's refresh button and voila your appointments are there

[Q] Setting the default htc calendar view

When I click on an appointment on the home page it launches HTC calendarin agenda view, is there anyway to have this either launch Outlook calendar or HTC calendar but in day view? HTC Calendar settings only gives options for reminders and default first day of week. I have looked around in the registry but have had no luck.
1. Diable calendar tab. This will make you jump directly to outlook calendar.
2. Or you can opt for a more advanced type of calendar app. Install ThumbCal.
I thought I had managed to do this once before, however when I just tried again (removed the calendar from the homescreen tabs) clicking on the calendar entry on the homepage now does nothing. I have done a soft reset but still the same. Any ideas?
Actually, the calendar link on the homepage is weird. It only works properly with the calendar tab. Once you remove the calendar tab, the link works only under certain strange conditions, described as follows:
1. If you have appointments for today, the link will not work. It can only show you one entry of today's appointments.
2. If you have NO appointments for today, and calendar link is a blank (i.e. showing on the "calendar" name on it), then the link will work to bring up outlook calendar.
So basically, it's inconsistent. That's why you have to forget about the calendar link of homepage. It's useless.
Here are some of the options you can do.
1. Place the outlook calendar on the of the quick links. (You'll have to swipe up on the homepage to access it.)
2. Use "Bsb Tweaks" app to change the left soft key of Sense UI to outlook calendar. (Originally, the "Phone" app sits on this soft key. But it works exactly the same way as the call key at the bottom of the phone. Making it redundant and useless.)
3. On your Start menu, bring the "Outlook" folder icon up to the top of the menu. That way, it will be easy to access outlook calendar anytime from under any running apps, by tapping the windows button, then outlook folder, then calendar.
