I have searched high and low. I have posted on other pages, I have tried all kinds of things, but I cannot seem to find a way to get a transparent bottom bar or softkey bar on my Energy Rom with touchflo/sense2.5.
I cannot get a transparent taskbar either, which would be nice also, but I am willing to settle on the bottom bar for sure.
I am really not sure which way to go at this point, it seems like NRG's Rom is proprietary or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am stuck at this point.
I am aware of HDWalls, but it requires me to make a cab on my pc at home or work. Then upload that to my phone then install the cab. Is there no way for me to install a cab once that makes these bars transparent, so that I could then just pic a wallpaper, set it, and be done. I can do it in the car, bus stop, restaurant, etc.
It is not transparent. It is made with HDWall with matching softkey.
You might get home help if you ask in his ROM thread.
would like to know also.how do you get the bottom bar (slider bar) transparent.
edit: actually what i meant to say is how do you remove the slider bar all together.
+1
I wish i could get a fully transparent slider bg. I have searched, and installed one transparent slider bg cab (the only one i could find), and I think the rom actually comes with a transparent slider, but I cant seem to get 100% transparency. The wallpaper I like to use is black on the bottom where the slider is, and the slider bg comes out light gray near the top of the slider icons, and fades to a darker gray down near the bottom.
Still, the best thing so far I have found is HDWalls. It does the job, but ahhh, having to always be at my pc to do this is a pain. Does anyone know a way to make these on the fly from your phone?

Find a background you like and try keeping it for more then a day on your phone. I dont know anyone else who changes their backgrounds as often as you are at least IMPLYING you do
That said, find a bunch of backgrounds you like and sit down one night and make a bunch of HDwall cabs for your phone. Label each one different... corresponding to what the background is. Then store them on your SD card. When you're in the mood for a new background just install the new cab.
Done and done.
Thats what I did with the GTX rom... I just made 3 or 4 light background cabs. For about a week I would change it around. I've probably kept the same background now for at least a few weeks though.

Speak for yourself.....Depending on what's going on I can swap out 2 or 3 backgrounds in an afternoon. I find a new icon set or a new clock and I am off and running. Why should anyone be made to feel bad about switching things up on a constant basis?? But I am sure you were just giving the guy a good ribbing right? Hell, I found the Dena Carbon V2 theme yesterday and I went from

For those of you who are trying to get a clear/invisible slider bar, I've attached the different cabs I've come across for that...some worked for me but some didn't...but that could just be because I was on a stock 6.1 ROM when I tested most of them, so ones that didn't work for me might work on a 6.5 and/or custom ROM. I'm just putting them up on here so you can try any of them that you haven't come across already.

This is why I modify my phone several times a day. To me, the ability to do so is what I love most about WinMo devices!
I suppose maybe I'm just jealous I don't have time to play with my phone mid day and only late in the evenings when I'm done the gazillion things I need to do in a given day

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for - my bars seem to be transparent (still have the default NRG wallpaper).
and
If so - the only thing that I have done with the background stuff is the "clock 26 trans.cab" that works on the Sense 2.5 NRG ROMs.
Hopefully this will do what you are asking (since I had not specifically looked for the taskbars to be transparent... mainly the clock - although I prefer the transparent taskbars... )

Yeah, man, that's cool, but it's not actually transparent. You have a pic NRG made with a taskbar background to match and a soft key bar that matches. So, it looks like it, but change that wallpaper and it ain't gonna look so cool anymore, but I DO like the clock cab. Thanks, it's cool. I still am on the search for something that will work on my phone with NRG's ROM(other than HDWalls). Sir Phunkee has posted some cabs, I haven't gotten time to play with them yet, but I plan on it this weekend. So, hopefully they will work.

So, I wanted to say that I did try these apps you posted with no luck for any of them on any of NRG's Roms. I guess his stuff is proprietary over everything accept HDWalls.
If you or anyone else has any ideas or suggestions on where I could possibly find this, please share.

Well sometime in the past day or two, I came across THIS thread, with what may be a workable alternative for "transparent" task and softkey bars. I haven't gotten a chance to try it out myself, but you're welcome to give it a shot

I made this theme a while back and decided to share it with this community in thanks for all the apps, programs, etc that are donated to us. I originally this theme with WAD, but I wasnt getting the results that I wanted, nor the speed. Then I came across this lightweight and speedy program called ultimatelaunch. It is by far my favorite GUI so far, very lightweight, simple, fast and customizable. It has some minimal flaws, but Ive tried my best to get it as efficient as possible for ease of use with one hand. You have all probably seen the AURORA and CUBE themes, which are pretty awesome as well, but this is a lot different. Each button along the bottom rom is a tab that responds to a page and title. Each page is customizable with included icons for various apps and progs. However, if you want it to look like the picture, then follow instructions to the T and you should run into no problems. The overall look of this theme is similar to an iPhone, but shows the power and benefit of WinMo and adds some style that cant be compared... Enjoy!
There are 5 tabs stock (Delete some if you'd like, but 5 max)

NEW DIALER INCLUDED!!!
Now with an optional dialer thanks to cbus! Thank you for your work, this dialer is simply genius.
click here to download the dialer cab
!!! Make sure you have the standard HTC dialer w/o video. The cab is only graphic files so that you can revert back to the original after an uninstall.
INSTALL:
1. Download THIS zip file (thanks to Moe5508) and install the file in order (0-9)
2. Go to start-settings-today-items and uncheck each item except for ultimatelaunch
3. Take it for a test drive
!!! All the animations, icons, and backgrounds are customizable. There are extra wallpapers and icons included, soo get creative and original
!!! All the shortcuts will be different on your device, to change them, hold your finger on a tab at the bottom of the today screen to pull up the menu. Click "Settings" - Pick the desired tab and click "Change" - Highlight "Apps" - then click "Change" - Pick the icon you want to change its shortcut. Its all rather self explanitory, but im trying to make this "NEWB" proof so I dont have to babysit this thread too much if you have any questions pm me.
!!! The batterystatus icons should work just fine. **From left to right** The first icon is the missed call count, clicking it opens the "Missed Calls" The second is voicemail, click it to call your "Voicemail" (To edit your vmail number, Activesync your phone or use total commander to open the "mytheme.xml" with a notepad located in the "/windows/batterystatus" folder. Scroll about 3/4 the page down and change the part that says "123456" to your own phone number) The third is text messages, click it and guess what happens lol. The last is your email, if you click it, it will pull up the account picker if you have multiple accounts like me (btw, the icons glow when something comes in)
!!! If anyone knows how to fix the clock from saying 0:00 at midnight, please let me know. thats the only thing i cant figure out, ive friggin looked EVERYWHERE!
CREDITS:
Thank you Daniel Schumann for such an awesome and reasonably priced GUI!
Some of the pages have today plugins that I got from freewareppc.com (awesome! freeware sight) they are called METRIX, CALENDAR+, HTC RSS Hub, BATTERYSTATUS ... thank you to the authors, please donate if you like their awesome freeware. The icons were sampled and resized from AKUMA and TORX, big thanks to their genius creativity. The background is from pocketpcscreens.com and modified by yours truly. The batterystatus theme was made by dBoris and the xml was edited by me to fit my needs. Thank you for the new dialer CBUS! The easy install files packaged into cabs and zipped up thanks to MOE5508. I dont know the real names of all these ppl, but their apps, work, and talents have helped me compilate this theme and take my phone to a new level. Just know that all your works are much appreciated by many of us here at XDAdev. Hopefully this theme will get your products and talents recognized a bit more...
I hope you will all love it, let me know what you think!!! Enjoy this theme and sorry if this was all too long! Although Im sure it was worth the wait!!!

I went into the UltimateLaunch.ini file and changed teh font to arial
restarted, now it works.
can we get a zip of your start menu links too? I see you have alot of nifty shortcuts instead of me having to find each program myself. like the text.lnk mms.lnk etc.
Is there a way to add a picture dial side to UL? Awesome theme !
thnx man good work !!!!
sorry everyone... i kinda passed out for a bit. ummmm, as far as i know, there shouldnt be any problems copying over the ul folder, if i recall the font on my theme is stock. (however, if youve changed your system font, you might have to change the .ini file in "program files/ultimatelaunch")
soo whoever thinks its unprofessional might not like ul (i mean, the font is outlined with black to make the white easier to read, but thats the only portion thats changable as far as i know. if you are referring to the picture... it doesnt have the font like it does at the bottom of the picture. the icons, are the bottom.
as far as shortcuts, i might be able to post up all my shortcuts, because i use some really cool programs i found (like the "favs" and "games" section, all in grid view, no lists! ) this part might have to be tonight though, i plan on releasing a movie as well in case there are some other things ive done to my phone that you all might like.
as far as a picture dialer side. i use the favs button to pull up "VS Contacts"
the button used to launch the contact side of the cube, which was neat, but I think VS Caller is better in some areas... but for you, ill post a fav five plugin that i have... its the best i can do.
update...
check the top of the first post!
another issue I found is going form landscape to portrait. it icons don't get drawn back correctly.
once you rotate your screen and the scroll bar appears, the totally screws up the alignment when putting it back to portrait.
this is not because of your skin, but primarily an issue with UL.
UPDATE: 2-27-09 For WAD development please see this post. I need suggestions, opinions, and testers if your up to it.
UPDATE: 2-10-09 Added waitcursor skins for MWC2 Please let me know if any issues with install. I have not tried the cabs yet.
UPDATE: 2-6-09 Opera 360 skins are located in this post Have a lok and let me know what you think or what we can fix.
UPDATE:Calculator skin available here: http://www.4shared.com/file/83961018/b4c4f923/SpbCalc_P.html Unzip to Windows folder overwriting existing file. This is for portrait only. Not doing Landscape unless someone requests it specifically. This lets me work on other skins to make a full theme.
UPDATE:1-30-09 Added Thumbcal and Quick gps skins. 360 black is same as 360 except black buttons on bottom. Instructions on bottom of post.
UPDATE: Added .tsk (Today theme). I tried to make the menus dark, was able to do it on my phone with skTools but could not find corresponding reg entries. Any Ideas? EDIT: Found the right keys and included a cab in the zip called "360tsk files".These color changes can not be achieved with normal .tsk file. First copy 360Green.tsk to Windows folder, select theme in >settings>Personal<Today, then install color enhancement cab and soft reset...A whole different experience. I will post new screens when I get to it. This makes the buttons and scroll bars green, the menus dark grey with green text, as well as some other surprises. To change back just swtch themes. You can also uninstall color enhancement after changing themes.
This was a pretty complicated affair since I had to manually change all the registry entries and reset again and again. I'm sure I will make further Today themes as time goes on and implement further color enhancement. Give it a try and let me know what we can do to improve. TIA-jmckeejr
UPDATED:1-27-09 Added dialer in two flavors. This is for QVGA(tested on kaiser). Let me know of any issues. Feedback appreciated as always. Remember to back up data if you're not sure. ALSO, attatched is a background for your today screen(Now included in Today theme).
This thread is for the purpose of developing a theme that is different than your run of the mill black and white Diamond or M2d, etc. I want my phone to really stand out and be different. You will see the development of my 360 theme as I progress. I invite anyone who would like to add to the collection with ideas or your own versions of Xbox360 skins. There may be several versions of one skin as practice makes perfect.

-Dialer in two colors
-iContact
-Resco Explorer
-Fingermenu 1.08
-Today theme with color enhancement cab
-QuickGPS
-Thumbcal 1.25

-Opera Mobile
-Commanger (Still working on that one. I'll get it uploaded when I get a day off)
- Waitcursor skins for MWC2 in post 25

Your 360 theme is really coming along. Keeps getting better.
very nice
i'm using it.
Need opinions
Thanks guys. I was going to move forward with the dialer next, but I'm having problems deciding in which direction to go. Need some opinions on this:
1)attatched is a possible background I just threw together using colors from the mainpage of the 360 guide. Consider it a rough draft. But I was also considering using the big xbox logo that comes up when you fist turn it on. Just center that and possibly make the buttons semitransparent so you can still see it. What is your opinion?
2)Along the same lines, should I make the buttons black? Green? Grey?
3)Was thinking of making the call history the same icon from icontact skin and I have an icon for the back key that is the same shape/size. Possibly just using the icon with no button? or red for back and green for history? or make them both black or whatever color I decide on for the keys?
Sorry for running on and on. Just hoping someone can give me a hand deciding. Thanks in advance
-jmckeejr
anybody make a Ps3 theme think its gonna look smoother since the PS3 interface is.. thx in advance..
I would say go with the guide button in the middle. Make it a little faded out so it's not too distracting from the phone buttons themselves. I would go with black buttons, with maybe green lettering. Just my opinions.
Progress so far
Ok, so I was actually going to try to make all buttons semitranparent so that you could use any background by naming it correctly and overwriting the original. I went through and made my first version like that and then when I tried it I found out I cant use transparency in that manner. So started over and I have the portrait version just about finished. Attatched is screens of what it may look like. Green lettering might be a good touch, I'll have to try it and see how it looks.
I had originally used black gloss buttons with no transparency, but after playing my 360 for a while(whatching movies) I went with buttons like the ones in video player. They are partially tranparent and when pressed are green. Still consideing all ideas. Lets call this one version 2 and see where it goes from here. If anyone wants just the portrait version I could upload what I have so far. Landscape and all final touches should be finished by the end of the week depending on my work schedule.
I didnt want the logo too big because it would be hard to see call progress and stuff over it. I like all the bright green, but didnt want it to be overwelmig. Let me know what you think so far. Thanks for all the help.
Question
In this process I came across a file called DPadMenu.dll. I wonder if this defines what presses on the directional pad does. I wish we could figure a way to make up go to iContact instead of standard call history. Anyone got any ideas for this? Any developer wanna give it a try? I tried looking into this dll, but I'm no developer(I'm actually a flooring contractor). There's nothing I could find that defines what button presses do. Thanks in advance

I used poorlyduck's M2D dialer as a basis, then did my alterations
I finished another version.(lost my progress due to an error on my part). Have not put it in a cab or tried it much yet. Gonna use it a day or so before I make it final. This one is lighter. I think I might also do the dark one when I get time. I was having a hard time making the same background for landscape. Anyway here's some screens of version3.
This second go round looks real smooth. Fits with your others well.
Dialer
360 Dialer is ready. Please check first post. Let me know of any install issues and leave feedback. I'll be taking a break for a day or so, then moving on to commanager or thumbcal. Not sure yet which.
Today theme
Went in another direction....I have made a Today theme, as well as a cab that changes a bunch of system colors. I'm not sure why, but these values could not be included in the .tsk file. It is a compete change from standard themes. I have made the menus dark, the buttons green, and other changes. Try it and help me get the colors right. Files attatched to first post.
Thanks

Just switch themes. When you select a new theme system colors should go back to default. When I was testing I had to reinstall color enhancement everytime I switched themes if I wanted to keep the colors. You can uninstall color enhancement, but you may still need to switch themes.
Also, Have skin for quickGPS and Thumbcal just needs some testing and tweaking I will upload when complete.
EDIT: Thumbcal is ready as well as QuickGPS.
Can't try out the dialer (long story), but I'mma try everything else out and let you know how it looks.
Thanks

Thanks a lot. I'll be waiting for some input. I'm thinking of expanding this theme by using actual screenshots from games as backgrounds. Not sure which games would be the best. Also, I finished the calculator, and I'm experimenting with some new glossy gradients that I got. I'll upload and post screens when I get free time. I am also working on a new color enhancement(the green buttons get to be much after a while, they are BRIGHT!!).
First, I have to tell you that the screenshot idea sounds great. Can't wait to see what you come up with if you do it. Secondly, the theme is shaping up very nicely. Thumbcal is especially smooth. Really digging the 2 skins. The Resco skin is sweet and fits well. Same goes with iContact and the tsk file. Couldn't test the dialer like I said earlier and I don't have qgps so I couldn't test that either. If you are looking for skinning suggestions, I'll just throw in ThrottleLock, s2u2, psShutXP, resco keyboard, gCalc, or nitrogen. Sorry, just started listing apps i use that are skinnable. Keep up the great work.
First one that uses game screens. Not sure, because the text is a little hard to see. I'll try it a day or so and see how I like it. Will most likely do some tweaking to the icons and possibly darken the background. Just wanted to put up a screen to get some ideas.
I'm digging it.

Looks great. I will try it out when I install the TF3D 2 cab.
Can you upload the wallpaper you used for this theme?

Thanks. The wallpaper is a combination of existing pictures that I edited together.
Which TF3D2 do I need to install to use this skin?
Also, I tried [Touch-IT Manila 2 LandScape] and I got the following message.
Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate.
Any thoughts?
I don't mean to sound rude or anything but the icons look a little low quality. I think if you lowered the size and depth of the bezel and emboss on them it would look much better and change the outer glow to a light bright blue and lower the size a little., the blue you currently doesn't look as clean imo.
Again i'm not being rude just trying to give some helpful feedback, I've been photoshopping for a few years now and just wanted to give some advice.
A little more like this maybe?

I think the problem there lies not in the manila, but your ROM. Looks like it can't replace the files in your windows folder (some are system files).
Try both Manila 2 installs there are (itje's and the one in the sticky) to see if that fixes anything. If not, I'm not sure what you should do.

Did you base that opinion on the screenshots, or on the skin being on your phone?
Personally, I think it looks just fine. I left the glow a bit lighter so the screen doesn't get all too blue. Also, I used the original manila icons and edited them. The icons don't look low quality on my phone at all, I can see all the edges clearly, straight as an arrow.
Reducing the glow size would be an option, though I'm afraid that the icons won't stand out enough then, falling into the background.

Any ETA on a fix for that (v1.1)?

Ok it wasnt that perfect apparently, when clicking the clock it breaks tf3d leaving you no other option that to soft reset your device.
Installed a custom ROM and installed this skin.
Works now.
One question though.
I read it somewhere on XDA that to change the wallpaper I have to edit something.
And just wondering, What does Wallpaper menu under the Settings do?

I'm working on it, but it involves editing mode9 files. The original edit was done by Pama. I'm trying to contact him for help. (It's a jumble, manila code). Though it's not a huge problem, so it doesn't exactly have top-prio ^_^

Are you sure that's caused by my skin and not just your manila 2 install? If it's one of itje's older touch-it 4.0 RC's, the notification manager isn't installed yet, crashing TF3D. Please give me some more info to verify.

I'm currently working on a newer version that's compatible with the newest version of TF3D in Itje's ROMs. I *can* upload just the wallpapers, but it wouldn't look good, I can tell you that much.
It's also possible to use this with the old clock, but again, it wouldn't look good.
[THE] [Updated 22-01-2010] ₪₪₪ HDWall Wallpaper CAB collection ₪₪₪ [RTFP!!]
NB: [22-Jan-2010] If you would like to request a cab file for your chosen wallpaper, you will find most will be happy to have a go for you. However, when doing so, can you please give specifics of the ROM you are using, i.e WM6.1/6.5/6.5.3, Sense/Manila/TF3D 2/2.1/2.5 and whether of not your version of Sense/Manila/TF3D is CFC compressed (if using a Custom ROM, the Rom Cooker's thread should tell you all of this information). This will greatly help the person who decides to do it for you, otherwise it's a complete shot in the dark, and if you are using anything other than the stock rom, it will most probably not work as they will normally use the default profile (TouchFLO v2.1 - No Compression - All Tabs). Actually, if you know all this info, there's no reason why you can't successfully have a go yourself, as I would always urge you to do. There's nothing like being able to do it yourself!
Here's an idea...changing the wallpaper on our TP2s seems a bit more difficult than in the past. The usual "background 4 all pages" methods that are about seem to cause problems for some (actually most, I think). I personally get a massive lag in screen rotation and other graphical gitches that I can't live with.
The answer is HDWall (massive thanks to maranell0 for this great piece of software)
OK, so it's time consuming and it involves a CAB installation and soft reset (actually, if you skip the restart after CAB installation, just restarting TF3D from Settings>>Personal>>Today>>Items does the trick), but what you end up with is a flawless wallpaper, higher in resolution than the standard methods, same background on all tabs, and absolutely no glitches or lags in rotation that I have noticed.
So the idea is, post your CABs and screenshots and share with the community your creations, save people the time and effort and make changing your wallpaper to suit your mood easy again!
Here's a start.... (also included MobileMatt's Crystal clock...credit to him for that)

***A quick tip for new users of HDWall...Before you start creating your wallpaper, from the config menu select the profile that matches you ROM's WM6.x / WM6.5.x... and Manila/Sense version, otherwise it will not work. Read the instructions on maranell0's post for full details of how it's done! If at first you don't succeed, keep trying and eventually it will seem easy!***
One more thing. I don't personally get this problem, but if the picture doesn't load on the home tab, but all the other tabs are ok, you will need to clear the following 3 values in the registry (after the first install):
In HKCU/Software/HTC/manilla/
clear the value of
1: Cachedbackgroundpath
2: DefaultHomeBackgroundPath
3: HomeBackgroundPath <<<thanks to real187 for this info

Try turning on/off (or reset) your device.
I think the stock rom is still having bugs since I also have this issue from time to time.
Also you could try disabling touchflo in the homescreen and then enabling it again
Just a suggestion guys and gals. All these walls are great. Theres an option to add a layer of color over the image and with that theres opacity options. I find that adding a black layer with some transparency enables much better previews of sms messages, as lighter colors can be confusing.

The task bar icon set is the standard stock set. The TF3D icon set is "Neon Theme v1.2a - Transparent both" thanks to nicelad_uk
The clock, (which is actually in the same manilla file as the icons for the call history and calendar on the home screen, hence why they are different, but not personally my choice) is by MobileMatt...can't remember where I found out so it's attached here: View attachment 200500 - Thanks again to MobileMatt

No, as the target resolution for the program to achieve from your pictures is WVGA. You need to use a standard BG 4 all tabs/pages app on your device with VGA images.

i'm also looking for the original skin (unbranded tp2, so it's the plain black and white one)
btw sergio, great job on your theme

I can help you guys out. I have a backed up set of the manila files from the official WinMo 6.1 ROM. I'll just make a cab of the main slider for you. I should be able to have it ready in a day or 2.
Here's a question though. There's a large image of the tab icon when you hold your finger over a tab. That image was 128x128 in the 6.1 ROM. Do you want it to stay that size? I ask because, the new Manila in the 6.5 ROM has those images in 256x256. If you want them larger, than the image quality may be reduced from the upscaling.
I think this is what im looking for also... who the heck made the Sprint Touch Pro 2 theme? Looks horrible!
I am looking for the original Sprint Touch Pro theme... just black and white. Hopeully this is it here. Oh and also the white flip clock

Here you go guys! The original thread starter may want to link to this post in the 1st post.
A couple of things to note:
1. This cab package includes only 36 manila files. 12 of them are for the small images on the slider. 12 of them are for the large image that appears when you tap and hold on a tab. 12 of them are for the small images that appear on the active tab.
2. The large images that appear when you tap and hold on a tab may look a little fuzzy because they were upscaled. But honestly, it's not that bad.
3. They were upscaled because of the calendar tab. The new calendar tab has the date. So it was impossible to fit the large numbers on the original smaller image. Also because of the date, I modded the calendar icon a bit. I removed the crease that was originally on the lower right corner.
4. This was tested on my unlocked European TP2 with HTC's official WinMo 6.5 ROM.

What you're seeing is to be expected because this isn't made for the version of Manila that you have. This is specifically for the Manila version that comes with HTC's official WinMo 6.5 ROM (v2.1.19193517.0). Differences include colored main slider icons, clock with weather on home tab, and larger tab preview images.
Anyway, I would send you the image files you need but I'm on the road for the following week. But I'm aware that what you're looking for was posted here in these forums previously. Have a search around.

I absolutely LOVE you for this!
I can confirm that this slider works on Atom's Fusion 5.2 (TF2.1) and on Agent_47s FirestormTR v4 ROM
i must say, what you did is more than great, now my phone looks like a real tp2 again, and not like a funny looking hd2 clone, plus the icons quality is great, even after the resizing and the calender icon.. looks perfect
--> works perfectly on a non-branded euro tp2 (french, with the official winmo 6.5 rom)
ps : the thread starter sould put it on the first post...

Hi:
Just installed. Large icons look just fine. Really no noticeable distortion.
However the slider icons appear really tiny (except for the currently selected tab). Any idea how I can fix this?
Or, does anyone know of another icon set which I may have better luck with?
Also, does anyone know why my slider highlight (?) for currently selected tab is always blue (original ATT theme color)? Any way to change it?
Thanks so much!!

This isn't for the Manila version you have on your device. The Manila version this is for has the following:
