Not possible unless you use Gmail in the browser.
Possibly in FroYo when they separate Google Apps from Android.
you've found one of the huge gaping bugs with the gmail app, it does not support copy and paste yet. everywhere else in the OS it seems to work, but not the gmail app.
so there is no way then say if i get an email with a phone number in it i can click on the number and call it, or copy and paste in any mail program on the n1?

intall k9 mail from the market. iirc it does copy/paste, and VERY nicely does multiple accounts.
it's not as polished as Mail or Gmail apps are stock on the phone, but it's pretty darn good.

I think if you have a phone number in an email, it becomes clickable automatically.

Hi,
How can I delete an Google Mail email from the "Trash" label? I can put them in "Trash" using a long press however there is no option to delete when doing a long press on the mail once in "Trash".
The only way I can delete this is to log onto googlemail web interface and delete the mail from the "Bin" (I'm a UK user).
Cheers.
Anybody???

From the webpage go to your settings and then to "LAB"... try using this "Advanced IMAP Controls".
--M
Thanks for the reply but no joy
Still, on the G1 I can long press in most labels and press delete which sends to Trash however long pressing on an item in the trash does not give any option to delete.
This behaviour is the same with and without that LAB package enabled.
Is there any other solution?
Cheers.
Anybody know if this is possible? It's a real pain having to delete emails from the Trash via the web interface, which is what I'm doing at the moment.
I'm considering that it might be as my GoogleMail account is a UK one and hence the folder is named "Bin" on the web interface. Is this confusion of names what is causing the G1 to not give me the option to delete emails from "Trash"? (Doubt this though, as it *does* put items into "Trash" when I delete on the phone and these can be seen in the "Bin" folder on the web interface).
Has anybody successfully deleted a GoogleMail email from the Trash/Bin using GMail app? If so, how?
Thanks.
Doesn't give me the option to delete things in the trash either.
I guess the only way to do it is from the web interface.
I'm pretty sure it cannot be done through the phone UI.
What is your goal?
I've been using gmail for a number of years now and I've never had a need to manually delete anything from the trash...

Minor OCD I think - When I delete something I want it *gone*... Not a biggie I guess.
is there a way to delete all mails out of the trash dir without to click each?
thx
I have not found a way, and this has been a scourge upon my back since I had the Pre this summer. On the Pre, you could only delete emails (in any reasonable way) by swiping them off the screen one by one. It was laggy and took forever. On the Nexus, it's faster with the check marks, but having no ability to empty the trash, or delete all emails in a folder, is beyond ridiculous.
One of the best things about my BB Curve was the ability to click a date heading, and delete all previous emails to that point. I don't know why they can't implement the ability to select a date range and delete, or delete everything.
log into your gmail online and do it that way... *shrugs*
this thing is now the secound i cant do without loggin into gmail...
i hope they will change it, i would like to be able to mange anything right from my nexus and not empting only online...

I think its strange the mobile version of gmail (through the web browser) is better then the app on the N1.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/16/windows-phone-7-series-wont-have-copy-and-paste/
Seriously, I was liking WMP7 until I read this. Gotta love that Android did this out of the box.
Glad my N1 will be able to do things my friends phone won't be able to when they get WMP7 lol
So you can copy and paste from your emails on your Nexus ?
I, for sure, can't....

At least we can do it at all, maybe not in emails, but other parts of the OS (without third party applications). I've never had to copy and paste from an email before, but I imagine for those who need to - you would be quite irritated people.
They will get an app for it eventually, right? Lol..
how about the stock calendar app?
No copy and paste in that is a real pain, I have business appointments with conference call numbers and they just made the passcode numbers much longer.
It wouldn't be so bad if the calendar recognised numbers with commas and hashes in them so you could tag the passcode onto the phone number eg.
01234567890,6789012345#
appears as to separate hyperlinks to the phone app instead of one.
not trying to hijack this thread but if anyone knows a way round this....
withthe sense Rom you can c&p in the native email app
I think this is a major flaw in the email program, but you CAN log into the mobile version of gmail on your browser and copy/paste. The mobile version is better anyway since it lets you see more than just your inbox.
I do think it is pretty pathetic that the mobile browser version is better than the APP, but this is indeed a valid workaround for the issue.

The app lets you see other labels as well by selecting Menu -> View Labels and then selecting your desired label to view.
The OP should mention "Windows phone 7" and not WMP7 (windows media player 7)
Still gonna get a wp7 phone if it comes to tmoblie (and is made by htc) since i will qualify for a upgrade in oct. Just gonna use along with my nexus one.
Dear Developers,
browsing the gmail in iphone 3gs is more easy and powerful. However, it is not that easy in HTC HD2
I mean HTC is not showing the images, fonts, signature etc.. included in the email messages when I open a message! It says that message will be downloaded next time you connect and receive email.
Any help any cab file that could make as iphone does.
You need to set up your email account so it download the entire message instead of a portion of it (50k, headers only, and etc).
Pictures won't be downloaded right away though.
i also dont feel comfortable using mail with hd2.
Thank you bachviet for fast response,
Great but how to set up my email account so it download the entire message instead of a portion of it?
regards..

From HTC Messaging app... select Inbox. This opens microsoft's email app. From there select Menu -> Tools - Options...
Select your mail account in the window. Click on "Download Size Settings". Select "Entire Message" in the Message Download limit: dropdown box.
I don't like that it doesn't let me view my Gmail's "Trash" folder. I have all my Facebook notifications sent to my trash... so it's rather annoying.

Solution: buy a Nexus One aka Google phone, or buy an iphone.
How do you do this when using Gmail through exchange server?

Geee, do this comments kinda buy an iphone or buy something else sound childish only to me ?
People bought the phone they want and just because something doesn't work same way as they used to, they're not gonna buy an iphone or (for me) ugly google nexus one because you said so !!!
If thread is not open for a "which phone to buy" then don't come here and post such things.
I guess he didn't Found a money on the street so he could just like that go and take another phone because something isn't working the way he likes.
If there is no solution to set it up....it sucks, but comments like this are redundant.

It is DONE now, however iphone in this particular portion is better, though i hate apple because it fools users, Apple has the technology but they do not listen to end users.
Anyway thaks again, dipaolnv
I know this is an old thread...
but really the "email" app that comes with the HD2 sucks, especially when you're used to the amazing gmail interface that you get on android phones.
Things like archiving and searching mail are extremely useful, and one of the mail reasons I use it for my email. But this phone really just butchers those functions.

childish??? maybe, But the software works how it works.
How's this:
Search WM Marketplace, Handango, and OMarket for a 3rd party email program. If you can't find one to your liking, then there isn't much else we can do. If it bothers you badly enough, you might be happier going back to the evil empire.
i have usual email in my box, which kill microsoft mail application, when i try to open it.
so, we can abuse this app in some way, for example, run own code, if it overflows stack. What privilegies this application have?
sorry for my english

Don't forward it
Setup Outlook
Save message as .eml
(optional) Send it to yourself and test if openning this file breaks e-mail client.
Send this file to ultrashot
Email runs in the COMMSAPPLICATIONS chamber, which is sandboxed but still has pretty good privileges. Getting arbitrary code execution will not be easy even if it's a straightforward exploitable buffer overflow, since WP8 has a lot of exploit mitigations in place, but it should be possible especially since we *can* get ACE in our own chamber easily, which means we can examine certain elements of system state.
