I recently loaded the VF UK rom upgrade to 1.72
Details

Protocol 15.32.50.07U
OS 5.2.21869(21869.5.0.82)
Manila 2.5.20121429.0
I have the following problem:
Attach phone via usb to pc, select Disk drive.
Remove hardware (SD) from pc - sucessfully removed
phone does not re-aquire the SD, not shown under file manager and attempts to run sd loaded programs fail.
removing SD and putting back in does not force phone to re-aquire
Soft reset to fix.
works fine via active sync
previous 1.66 rom worked fine
Any ideas

Hi all
I've got an O2 XDA with broken radio ROM from my friend. I also have my AT&T SX-56 running normally (with cooked 4.01.16 ENG OS and 6.12 radio ROM).
I've tried re-flashing the dead O2 XDA radio ROM (by running RSUpgrade.exe inside WM2003 or 2002) without any success. It seems to me that a SD radio ROM flashing is a good way to try. But I can not get my SX-56's radio ROM on SD card, since the device keeps asking me to connect a RS232 cable and run PC monitor when I try to create CD + GSM dump on SD card, using boot loader options.
Question:
- Is the any way to create radio ROM upgrade SD card, using XDAtools or similar tools, and radio upgrading files (those file that come with RSUpgrade.cab, for example), or
- Could anybody provide me an image of such a SD card, or
- How can I dump GSM ROM form my SX-56 to SD card, without RS232 cable and PCMonitor
Current soft/hardware info:
My SX-56 is running 5.15 boot loader, cooked 4.01.16 ENG OS and 6.12 radio ROM
The dead O2 XDA is running 5.15 boot loader, cooked 4.01.16 ENG OS (could be changed to any version)
Thank you for reading.

Hi everyone,
am deperately needing your advice!!!
Just yesterday I rechieved an exchange mdac from tmobile showing serial version v1.02 when put in bootloader mode(previously v1.01).
When trying to flash whatever rom once transferred via ntrw to my sd card, my mdac does simply nothing but stay in bootloader showing serial v1.02. No flashing like in my old one starts.
On removing the sd card it comes out freshly formatted, before it definately was formatted with raw as usual once working with ntrw.
Result : I can not upgrade my system to mksbigstorage or any other rom like i could with my" old one". (same sd card!!!)
Tried downgrading to an older rom version via original upgrade routine and from there flashing via sd card: same problem!, tried other sd card: no solution either!
Any ideas, solutions, people with the same problems?
:?:
Appreciate your help
Thanx
romflashing
Seems to have nothing to do with flashing routine.
Card simply gets formatted once inserted.
Any way to stop this?
Hi! I have had many problems after flashing and re-flashing my rom.
Try boot loader mode and USB then execute (from your PC)MaupgradeUT_noid with a Shipped_rom on XDA ftp. It may work.
Have a look at this link: http://www.mtekk.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?p=32876

Try to write SD card with winhex not ntrw. Simply choose open disc feature and write file directly do SD it works every time for me (with ntrw it was roulette). I have 1.02 bootloader
Thanks Shamus but can you explain in details how do you do this with Winhex? my bootloader is 1.00

I believe that the power totally drained on my 8525.
It seems that all of the INSTALLED programs that I elected to install on the storage card are now gone.
Programs installed directly to the device are still there, but anything that I installed and selected "Storage Card" rather than device during install are gone. Their directories and everything else that I later copied into those directories are gone.
Stuff that I drectly copied over to the storage card (rather than installing), seem to be gone as well, though the parent directories are there.
In the Windows Start menu there are only generic icons left for those programs. A bunch were free, but there were a few registered apps that are gone as well. Apps the the previous owner had bought, and so I don't have the reg keys for (hopefully reinstalling will work on some of them if the registration data is in the registry and the new install doesn't overwrite it).
Unfortunately I have only had the phone for about 2 weeks and was still tweaking it to get it where I like, so I had not yet backed-up my storage card...
I thought that WM5 had persistent storage? I have powered the device down in the past and had no problems.
Anyone know what might have caused this (other than a possibly defective storage card...)?
Thanks,
Brain21
What firmware are you running? I've seen this problem on my JASJAM when running the latest AKU3.3 WWE ROM from HTC (and there's a solution to this problem - use the search). Can't recall ever seeing this problem appear with i-mate's latest AKU2.3 ROM.
Strange, never heard of an SD card loosing stuff because of the device losing power. May be worth pulling the card out and checking it with a card reader on your PC. See if your files are there or not, then reformat the card just to be sure its ok maybe?
It's the standard Cingular shipping ROM I *believe*:
ROM Version: 1.34.502.1
ROM Date: 9/21/06
Radio Version: 1.16.00.00
Protocol Version: 32.53.7018.01H
It's a HERM100
The only thing I ever did as far as that stuff goes was upgrade the radio version to the one above while I was unlocking the phone (I am on T-Mobile)
Unfortuately I don't currently have a reader for my PC that accepts Micro SD Cards. I need to get one of those SD adapters or something...

If you haven't already I would soft reset and then hook up active sync and use the explore facility to go to the card a see what's there.
I have seen things come back after a soft reset and / or taking card out and in.

That's pretty much the first thing I did. Soft reset & connect. Power off, pull out card, reinsert, power on, reconnect. Same thing every time. :-(
And just to clarify on my post above, I SIM unlocked the phone. I have NOT CID Unlocked the phone.
You might try checking the SdCard with Pocket Mechanic. Run Scandisk from Pocket Mechanic
http://www.wizcode.com/
Losing power would not have had anything to with losing data on sdcard. Even in the old days, when power was lost, the main memory was affected not the SdCard
Does anything show up on the SdCard?
Pocket Mechanic is a nice app and has a free trial.

Hi,
I can't find this solution, does anyone have a link to the thread describing the solution to this problem?
Thanks.

Have you taken the MicroSD card out and put it back in again?
I would be inclined to turn it off, take out the card, turn it on, then off again. Then put the card in and turn it on.
Yes, already tried that...nothing happened. Still is like the card isn't there...
I tried to read the MicroSD card with a reader on a pc:
well, it start reading it, shows the files and the everything disappears again! As if the card wasn't there and it says: insert a disk....
I don't understand how it first find it and read the content and then it all disappears....maybe some corruped file in some directory?
Any suggestion on how to recover my data??
Help please - The serial number inside my HD2 is corrupted.
I've tried many ways to flash a new ROM but get the "Invalid Device Id" error when I:
- run the ROM Installer with official 3.14 RUU
- try to install HSPL
- try to flash with SSPL.
If I try to flash ROM 3.14 (HK) from an sd card the bootloader shows "loading" then freezes on the screen with the coloured bars. (SD card formatted in HD2).
Fortunately, I can still flash the original 1.72 ROM from an SD card, so my HD2 is still working. But I can't install any of the HTC hotfixes (6 hotfixes since 1.72 released plus 2 hotfixes since 3.14 released).
I now see that the serial no. is corrupted (Settings/About phone/Phone identity) - it shows "a" and a box character instead of the usual string of letters and numbers (probably from trying a few days ago to install an bad version of Skype!!).
How can I fix the serial number and device id.? I have the original serial number (on the box).
PLEASE HELP!! Thanks in advance.

I do not know bow you manually enter your SNl number. But to flash a ROM via SD card try reformating your SD card with a computer and a SD card reader and use Fat 32 when you format it.Also try to use a 8GB or down to a 500MB SD card.
The simple way is to enter a different id there is a thread on here somewhere that give alternate id's and they are region specific so you need a hk based key, then you can flash (or a WWE key to flash the WWE rom, you get the idea)

Thanks, T-Macgnolia - I've already tried a card formatted by computer, as you suggest. The same error results.

Thanks, johnerz. What do you mean by "alternate id"? Is that the same as entering the serial number appropriate for my region so I may download updates from HTC? If so, my serial no. is valid so I can download any update from HTC Hong Kong. The problem is that I can't install them because they recognise that the serial no. in my HTC has been corrupted. The HTC updates give an error (indicate that I don't have an HTC device) because they can't find a valid serial no. in my HD2 during the install process.
If "alternate id." is different from entering the serial no. on the HTC website then please explain further. Thanks again.
Hi i have exactly the same issue with a Dutch HD2. It seems to me that this occured after i sent my phone out for repairs for 3 times when the phone only showed white screens. Now i can't update any rom. It still works with the currently installed windows, and i can succesfully reset to factory defaults (hard reset), but i really want to upgrade to android.
No HSPL or any of that stuff is possible. Does any one have a solution for this? I even tried creating a leoimg.nbh file with the same corrupted serial number embedded using Revskills, but no success.
Hope anyone can help because i'm really stuck.
