what is the best way to make sound for an app i am creating. background sounds as well as on event sounds. i am not sure how to go about doing this.

I already used the search function without a satisfying result. I am too using the SGS as an alarm clock and want to get rid off this annoying sound. The workaround is ok but not more. So I thought I create a mute sound and replace the original one with it. For that I need to know where it is.

in JPU (not sure about others) it's /system/audio/ui/TW_Battery_caution.ogg
I noticed battery full sound is same with default notification sound and changes at the same time. If that is the case, there is no separate battery full sound. What I did was set default notification to silent and set each application (talk, email, etc.) to unique notification sound. Maybe that is not what you are looking for, but works for me. (For both JH2 and JK4)

Got a question for you. On my shiny new SGH-i337M (Rogers Stock, rooted only) GS4, I want to change the sound of my unlock sound. I'm using the light effect, but want to change the sound from the sort of ding-a-ling to a different tune (I have the audio file I want to use already, MP3 format (can change if needed)).
I've looked in /system/media/ui, and none of the unlock options there seem to be the right one, so I'm kinda stumped.

don't think you can custom change unlock sound--maybe if rooted
i have copy & pasted my custom ringtone and notification sounds to appropriate folders
you can add your own text to lockscreen though--get ris of "Life Companion"

It is most likely inside the app for the unlock stuff. You'd have to decompile the app find it in the app then change the name of the new file whatever the old one was and then recompile it.
EDIT: shouldn't take but 10 mins at most.

Had time to look at this and found audio/ui also. But, my phone plays the att sound and nothing else. Either on or off per Settings/My Device/Sound/Screen Lock Sound. I turned it off then back on and I get a ding when turning power on. Wierd. The unlock.ogg doesnt't sound anything like the att sound I have. Must be missing something? Doesn't really matter to me though, prefer sound off anyway.
As a side note, semi OT, I finally, through all my noob reading, found out how to get rid of "Life Companion" on lockscreen. Thank Goodness--
@geoldr, I'd already looked there, if you'd read the post. The unlock.ogg isn't the same sound.
@toxicpaulution, that's a good option. I'll look into it (assuming I can learn to do that. I'm not THAT in-depth of knowledge about the Android OS.

Hey, new here! However, i have managed to edit two sounds so far. The Lock sound & the start-up Sound. Lock sound is Mario Pipe sound, and start-up sound, if anyone is interested in rap, is Bone Thugs & Harmony - 1st Of the Month.

Download Files Below & Extract.
Then Simply navigate to > /system/media/audio/ui and replace files :
lens_flare_lock.ogg (Lock Sound)
PowerOn.ogg (Start-up Sound)
Reboot Phone to Enable new sounds.
Currently working on Unlock sounds as well, haven't got it yet . However, anyone who wants a custom sound (Start-up/Lock) of their own, Shoot me a message & I'll see what i can do :victory:
I do not think this will work with light effect selected, this method requires the ripple effect to be selected.
I may be wrong. But the last that tried, it had to be ripple.

Your Correct My Friend the sound for light effect selected is in Framework/res/raw, One is called lens_flare_tap the other is lens_flare_unlock! :good:

Thanks Venom!!! I replaced my lock/unlock ui sounds but couldn't figure out how to get rid of the ripple effect that played before my custom unlock sound. Replaced the unlock.ogg file (ripple sound) within the Framework.apk (resources/raw) and was able to get the exact effect I wanted.
I tried the lens_flare_lock.ogg now I can't lock my screen . Please help

Here are some build.prop mods:
Floating Window Of Video Player
Change the following line in build.prop...
ro.config.hw_floatvideo=false to ro.config.hw_floatvideo=true
Now open stock video player and click the sign ( i.e. two arrows pointing towards each other) on the top bar of video player. The video player will change into floating window.
Online Music Streaming and Downloading with lyrics
Change the following line in build.prop :
ro.cofig.onlinemusic.enabled=false to ro.cofig.onlinemusic.enabled=true
Now uninstall the stock music app because it won't show you online tab.
And download Huawei Music App from here :HuaweiMUsic.apk
Install it. Now you will see Online Music Tab and can download your fav. songs
One more advice......go to settings of music app and change the "preferred download quality option" to highest :laugh:
NOTE
Some people have trouble changing their build.prop. They can use this app :Rom ToolBox Lite
Just open the app use its build.prop editor :good:

I myself have tried them and it is safe.
Tried myself the multi floating mod for the video player. Works like a charm !!!
Just let me add that a reboot is required after build.prop modification.

i just noticed something while i was hearing trough bluetooth music with the walkmann app in my car. I do let the playlist play random. But i've got to the point where i can guess 100% which title comes next, because this randomness isn't so random...
Does any1 know if there is something like a configuration file for this app so that this pseudo-randomness can be changed into real randomness?
