Is it possible to get the stock android 2.1 calendar on the Desire?
Anyone know where I could download the apk?
I don't mind the HTC touchs, but the scroll wheels for the time/date are a major pain.
yes please the htc calendar wont turn and gives no information.
Have you tried Widgets > Calendar (Android)?

Does anyone know of any way to have Facebook integration without using a Hero ROM, is it even possible?
Download the official facebook app from the market. It has a widget you can put on the home screen.
Download facebook sync from http://anda.pk/
This will get your friends profile pictures and attach them to a contact.
EboBirthday from the market will attach your facebook friends bithday to you current contacts...................
Or, you can just download a Hero ROM and get full intergration.
I don't think you can get HTC's contacts and dialer app on a non hero rom (or you can get it but it doesn't work.) If someone knows how to do this please let me know!! Then we can get full intergration without the slowness of Hero.
bump for this idea. i am tired of the htc loading screens and want to get rid of my hero rom. BUT i want to keep the HTC dialer because it is awesome compared to the stock dialer with its facebook integration and search function. is there any way to get the HTC dialer or something similar to it without using a hero rom?
Hi All,
When entering a new event in the agenda it's automatically affected to "my calendar" (which is not sync with google agenda ) and for each appointment I need to think about switching to my google agenda account to enable sync.
I've couldn't find any way to set my google agenda account as my default agenda, nor deleting "my calendar".
This is very annoying, so if someone can help I'll appreciate.
I use to have the HTC Hero and I didn't have this problem.
Thanks
This is fixed in the leaked 2.2 ROMs, so until you update the firmware you have to live with it unfortunately.
Thanks. How do I update the firmware ?
Check out the Development section of these forums.
However: The 2.2 update is far from finished, and I wouldn't recommend using it unless you really want to try the latest firmwares. It's beta firmware at best.
Better to wait for the official update from Samsung unless you enjoy beta testing and working around bugs.
Ok thanks anyway
Try Jorte from Market. It can let you set default calendar. It's also more powerful than the stock one.
Jorte seems to work, thanks a lot
Maybe someone can post the 2.2 calendar apk?
yes, Jorte is great! it also shows small text in the month view of your calendars inputs, very nice! Think I won't go back to stock calendar even if they fix the "my calendar" issue.
With Jorte solving the google agenda sync problem and acontact solving the contact group sync problem, all my trouble seems so far away ....
I am currently running a SenseHD Based ROM, however stripped of the Sense UI (baadnewz lite). This means that I have all of the key HTC system apps (mail, calendar, dialer, people, camera, etc), but none of that Sense UI and launcher (rosie, etc.) Instead I use launcher pro.
The down side is that I cannot use the very nice Sense provided widgets. If I did, I could use the Mail widget to show the email that is received from the Mail application, which is configured to read from an exchange account (push). But since I cannot use this widget, I have to rely on other widgets to show the email.
The problem is that no mail widget that I have found can be "fed" by the HTC Mail app. It doesn't seem to expose the email so that widgets (other than the Sense widgets) to display the email. In other words, every other widget doesn't allow me to select the email account that the Mail application is using.
Alternatives would be to use K9 Email + pure messaging widget, which works, but I loose the ability for push mail.
The funny thing is that the HTC calendar app --does-- expose the calendar events to other widgets. I am able to select my exchange account in the widget settings.
Am I hosed here? Does anyone know of a way I can use an email widget that is fed by the mail from the HTC Mail widget?
I thought that the email and calendar emails/events gets pushed to a central DB for others apps to cherry pick from? I guess this isn't true?
I don't want to automatically forward the email to another IMAP account (say gmail) of which another widget could pick that up...
ideas?
I'm subscribing to this thread... would like to know this as well...
would like go know too, im searching for a real nice Mail widget Hut coudnt find anythingn.
now i forward ms Mails go ms googlemail anderen Push it from there go gmail...
I stubled on the blog of the creater of the EmailWidget.
His widget can gain access to the mail from the HTC Mail widget by forcing the install of the widget to the /system area.
See http://blog.invalidobject.com/android-app-email-widget/comment-page-1
I asked him if this nice side effect would occur for all apps (i.e.: other widgets) to gain access to the mail provided by the HTC Mail.....
If this is possible.. then we are looking good!
On some HTC devices like HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy with Android 2.1 you even don't need to install my app as system app.
I don't know of any other app that is capable of showing mails from htc mail app. That was the main reason i built my app. But it is certainly possible to implement other widgets that could gain access like my app does.
Regards,
Frank
Perhaps this thread can be moved over to the Desire Android Development forum - someone may know how to expose, and or disclose, the mail from the HTC Mail app, with or without root. There has been some hesitation in incorporating a potential integration in some mail widgets (ahem, Pure Messenger) because it requires root and is kinda "hacky" in nature.
The app either has a provider or not. I am not exactly sure why the widget being co-located with the HTC Mail app on /system is required.
The lack of a capable email widget is making me re-think my decision to go senseless!
Try Executive Assistant. Don't recall but I'm not running Sense to test.

Nah, you need K9 for that to read the exchange mails...
i want a tool where i dont need to install any other exchange tool ... Something like EMail Widget was perfect , but you need to have root on a desire Z stock 2.2 rom....
too bad though...

Since in my cotanct's list, all the contact's photos is came from the faceook by facebook for HTC Sense,However, i flashed a rom that isn't HTC sense but i think it's fantastic (except without facebook for htc sense).Hence, I put the facebook for HTC sense from the offical rom however when i install it, it cannot be installed.May someone helps to make a facebook for HTC sense is available for all android rom, a big thanks by heart!
HTC Sense uses it's own framework so you would need to port it or what ever. Why don't you just install the Facebook app and then sync your Facebook contacts, with your phone contacts? If they don't join then just edit contact, press menu > join. Job done. Google isn't that terrible.
Is it possible to get the htccalendar.apk from somewhere (if anyone has a link please)?
I had the HTC Calendar on Leedroid 3.0.8.2 (had both the Android and HTC Calendars on a previous version of Leedroid). But now I've flashed Redux I don't have the HTC calendar and I miss it because it sync's with more sources than the android one does.
Anyone know where I can get it, please?
You can't use it on an AOSP ROM. From what I remember it relies on com.htc.resources.apk which is absent from AOSP.
I'm sure there are apps on the market that'll do what you want though? (I don't know of any mind, sorry)
Anyone know of a calendar that can sync with facebook as well as gmail?
Sync facebook with your Google Account and then Sync your Google account with your calendar - I have it set up that way and it works on GingerVillain AOSP.
Thanks for asking this question as I'm having the exact issue with Redux (having come from LeeDroid also).
When you say sync Facebook with google - you do this on the facebook website or google website or phone?
Thanks
p.e. I have tried other calendars including pure calendar and I couldnt get this working.
EDIT: Ok I got this working - I went to facebook and clicked on events, then I clicked on birthdays. There is an option to export - so I got the export URL.
I then went to my google calendar on the google website. In the 'other calendar' section I was able to import using this URL.
Back on the phone, I went into the stock calendar, went to menu and selected 'calendars' - I was able to then choose to sync to the friends birthdays calendar in the google account in the menu.
All sorted the calendar widget now displays birthdays again..
I'm not sure about redux but I know on oxygen, in the settings menu of the Facebook app there is an option to sync contacts, and it definitely works
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Same for Redux also - I can sync contacts using the Facebook app but it doesnt affect the stock calendar (it just updates my contacts on my phone and changes peoples picture etc if they had updated their profile).
ah man, I totally forgot what this thread was about sorry
You have to sync it on your computer, not on your phone.
How to: Birthdays
How to: Events

This is what I asked in the OP. It appears that it isn't possible to use the HTC Calendar in non-Sense ROM's. Look at the posts above they explain why. I ;like the HTC Calendar too.
don't know if the OP is still interested, but I use Smooth Calendar, free from the Market on Oxygen.
It syncs with my google calendar etc..

Yeah, I use smooth calendar on my homescreen, I love it, but for an overall view it's not good, say for a month's view. I do like smooth calendar showing me the next 3 or 4 events on the homescreen though.
