Message headers in Pocket Outlook - HD2 General

Can someone point to setting for the language of outlook message headers? I have a localized WM version (Chinese), but need the message headers in replies (To:, Re:, etc.) in English. In desktop Outlook there is a DB setting for that, but I can't find a way to change it on WM.
Much appreciated.

Getting alerts for new mail in subfolders (Exchange)

I'm syncing to an Exchange-server, and have organized it using rules to move certain e-mails to certain sub-folders of the inbox. However, I'm not getting any messages or alerts that new mail have arrived in these sub-directories of the inbox, which makes automatic syncronizing with the Exchange-server rather useless.
I just want the Wizard (in my case: Qtek 9100 NOR) to show all new e-mail on the ToDay-screen and alert me. I think this is typical "Outlook-behaviour" which won't allert me about new mail in subfolders too (but that I can live with).
Anybody know how to solve this? Maybe it's a registry-setting?
I had the same question. Yes, it's typical behavior. I solved it another way. I use so called search folders in the Outlook 2003 instead of moving to real subfolders. All messages arrive in Inbox folders both in the Outlook 2003 and in PDA, so e-mail notification works for each message.
I use search-folders too in Outlook 2003. But they are not available on the Wizard which makes the use of rules and subfolders much easier to use.

Anybody expert in Qmail?

Im using Qmail, since its the only sufficient mail client working with softbank.
Unfortunately i have alot of contacts in my phone and i dont want to set them up in Qmail manually. That would take me along time.
Is there any way to import them into Qmail from the phones contacts?
Have you seen
http://www.modernnomads.info/wiki/index.php?page=Installing+and+configuring+QMail
and
http://www.azol.ru/texts/QMail3_eng_FAQ.htm
The problem is that the qmail manual is in Japanese, a language that resists reading of a babelfish translation.
I would consider npop
http://www.npopsupport.fsworld.co.uk/index.htm
if that meets your needs. At least the help site is in English. Alternatively, post a question on Menneisyys' blog; he knows his stuff and he knows qmail.
Thanks alot Preston.
Im sure those resources will help.
Not sure which version of QMAIL you're using. I am using the latest on both my WM5 phone and PPC2002 PDA. QMAIL will auto-complete the email address from Pocket Outlook. There is no need to import contacts from Pocket Outlook into QMAIL address book.

Click to collapse
well..but i dont know all the email addresses, so i couldnt even start typing one.
Please DO follow my articles. I've also elaborated on this problem in the Mailer Bible ( http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=569&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 ) - see the "Access to built-in Contacts database?" row in the chart ( http://www.winmobiletech.com/022006MailerClients/MailerCompChart.html ), ot even has a screenshot of this.
Qmail does support both the built-in Contacts database and auto-completion. To enable the former (the latter is automatic), go to Tools / Options / Address Book in the drop-down list and check in "Pocket Outlook".

Mail in HTML format

I have set up activesync to sync my outlook email in HTML format through usb connection but my mails all come in as plain text. I have checked the phone email set up and it is set to HTML. Does anybody know why I am receiving the mails in plain text? My mpx200 running wm6 receives the mails in html format from the same source and the same means. Or is this peculiar to the BA? I have this problem with all the roms.
I looks like I have 'solved' the problem. Well, not really solved but I seem to have a general idea of the source of the problem. My company still uses windows 2000 and outlook 2000. When I sync with my work pc, the mails appear on the device in plain text format but when I sync with my pc at home running windows xp and outlook 2003 the mails are received in html format. So it appears either windows 2000 or outlook 2000 or both are the culprits. Anyone has any knowledge about this?

IMAP to gmail configuration?

Hi,
I'd like to configure Windows Mobile to make that the delete mail action in my gmail account archives the mail instead of deleting it.
I've read some post over the web talking about this issue, and giving some solutions, but none of them for Windows Mobile.
In essence, the solution implies to change the "label" that is associated with the delete action, so it must change from "[gmail]/trash" to "[gmail]/All mail" (this is my own interpretation of what I've read, very simplified ), but I don't know how to do this. I've searched the registry and the file system looking for some configuration entries, but I've been unable to find any
Any ideas? Is this possible to do?
(my ppc is a HTC TouchHD, by the way)
thanks
1 of the differences between imap and pop3 is that
imap dont delete the mails
you should try to change to pop3 in your pda
Use the IMAP connection and just move the messages to a folder on your PPC, this will change the tags in your gmail account. Thus moving the email from your Inbox to the folder of your choice.
Hi again,
Thanks Rudegar and Deedee for your replys. (sorry for my delayed answar, but I've been out of home some days)
Rudegar, I've been testing the pop3 access, but I have a problem. I use POP (with MS Outlook) in my main computer, so I always have my mails there and organized as I want (folders, subfolders, filters to delete, move, etc...) This is my main "mail box" and I like it this way 8·). The problem now is that if I download one mail from one pop3 "reader" (be it the PC or the PPC) the other one "loses" the mail. I suppose that gmail marks the mail as downloaded by pop so it is not "served" anymore. This makes the pop option "not an option" 8·(
Deedee, I've been playing a little more with the IMAP folders, and, as you say, I can move the messages to folders. The problem here is that this is not so easy as simply deleting it, and letting gmail to keep it archived. What I want is to be able to delete the messages but to be sure that there are kept safe by google, just in case ;·)...
What I want to do is exactly what is described in this page (http://vjarmy.com/archives/2007/10/tutorial_easy_archiving_for_gmai.php), but I don't know if there is some way to do the same in Windows Mobile
Thansk again for your help 8·)
it's done! well... in fact it has been always done! 8·)
As a nice "side efect" of using a spanish version of Windows Mobile, mails are never marked as "Trash", but as "Elementos eliminados", what, of course, gmail does not understands and treats it as a normal label. So emails are never sent to the trash folder, wich is what I wanted! 8·)
So problem solved! Thanks again for your pattience 8·D
