Sd cards reported working as goldcard for root? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

So I am not new to android or rooting but I am new to this method. My question is, I've tried making a few but no success, what sd cards beside the kingston 2g card work in making a goldcard on this phone. I have tried a 2g SanDisk and a 1g samsung.
Also if anyone has one that they are not using and wouldnt mind selling or letting me use pm me.

I have no idea what kind of sd card I used (it just says 1gb on it no brand)
but the sd card adapter I used is from Lexar and the combination worked PERFECTLY...

okay looks like ill have to buy one off ebay or something
UPDATE: Ok so i got it I used a sandisk 2g card I apparently was forgeting to unzip my gold card image. duh

I would try the SD card in another device - I'm thinking your bad MT3G that you exchanged might have fried the card.
I've been using an Sandisk microSDHC 8gb card for a couple years now, it had been in my HTC Wing and LG Dare before my MT3G.

HD2 came with 1gb sd card! Will a 4gb class 4 work?

I just got a almost brand new HD2 today, but for some reason the guy gave me a 1gb card with it not the 16gb card he said it came with. VERY annoyed. Until I get him to give me the real card Im working.
Will a 2gb class 2 work? Already own.
Will a 4gb class 4 work? Borrowed from brother
Will a 8gb class 6 work? Can buy on friend.
What format do I format the card in? And I noticed the card as a ton of random files on it are those needed?
Yes, any of those cards should work even a class 10 16GB or 32GB card. In terms of formats, I recommend using the Panasonic sd formatter app (Google) as i have not encountered any Android problems since using it and it provides you with a standard format that works perfectly.
Should be alright for you mate. Been using the 8GB Class 6 here for looking time now.

32GB Class 4 Micro SDHC card problem

i bought a 32gb class 4 for my hd2 so i can run android off it, but when i insert the card into the phone. the phone freezez, wtf. i left it in there for half an hour and still nothing, the phone is still frozen. after i took the card out the phone unfroz and was working. i put it in my brothers HD2 and same problem, it freezez. i put the card in to a htc desire z and the phone picked it up, it looked through the files on the memory card. why the hell dont it work on my HD2. Now i bought this card from ebuyer. i hope it works man:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/218439
any ideas why it wont work and makes my fone freeze. looks like i will have to save the 32gb for a dual core nvidia tegra 2 phone.
does it freeze when you launch android or just freezes in winmo 6.5?
if it only freezes when you are launching android, backup the card then format it in winmo (you'll find under settings) and restore all files to it and give it a try

I'm tempted to call BS...
That link takes you to a 16gb class6 SDHC card made by Lexar.
It also happens to be the highest capacity card they sell on that site. Trust me.. I looked.
Download h2testw, run a full test of you micro sdhc card and make sure it's functioning properly.

dont you read anything. i said now i bought this one with the eprovided link from ebuyer
it freezez in winmo.
Just in case someone is still having issues, this is what I experienced.
I bought a Sandisk 32gb micro card, formatted (quick) with windows, put it in the HD2, and had nothing but problems (many hours of trying different things) trying to watch AVI's, or even install larger CAB's.
I read here about the SD assoc. having a free format program (SDFormatterv3.0.zip), I downloaded it, installed it on my WIN7 machine, did a quick format, not much change, did a full format (took over 3 hours!) card now works perfectly. Amazing.
I sure this is not the case with all Micro cards, but it sure helped me. Oh, I did the formatting while the card was in the phone, the card was set as "Disk Drive". (settings, other, USB)
I can vouch for the official format program fixing problem cards.

Well an update. The program does a very good job on formatting the micro card, but it does not detect a fake card! H2testw.exe does, excellent little program. Turns out my 32gb card was 2Gb! Windows and the SD format program both reported it Ok, but If I wrote over 2Gb, files disappeared or didn't work. (doah) just couldn't believe I got ripped. Anyway, buyer beware, and check those cards before you loose important data.
32 gig card
As far as I know the hd2 does not support any higher then a 16 gig micro sd.
It supports sdhc so up to 32GB.

Shows what you know. Almost all the HTC phones produced in the last two years have the abilty to use 32gig cards.
That's what I said... Unless you're replying to another post, in which case - quote, if it's not directly above yours.

Well I finally locked onto a 32gb card. Got it from Buy<DOT>com, quite a few for under $50 now. Ebay... <sigh> 99% of them are fake, defective or scams.
My Tmobile HD2 runs great with a class 4 32gb card.
All I can say is avoid Ebay for your cards.
For those running on Tmobile firmware (I do still) there is a new ROM release that radically improves battery life, I am getting 100% more op time. I am not a heavy user. (5 days now, vs 2 before)

[Q] MicroSD compliant

Does anyone know what microSD version that the Droid Pro is complaint with?
I bought a microSDHC card and I am having big problems. Apparently your device must be microSD version 2.0 compliant to use the microSDHC protocol.
I cannot find the answer anywhere, even Motorola's site is silent on the version.
Thanks
Gene
I have a 32gb micro sdhc in my XPRT with no problems. I have heard some issues can be solved by formatting the card whilst in the phone. Back up first, of course.

I bought a 32GB Micro and it did not work in my Pro.
Tried formatting in the phone and it didnt work. Formatted on the computer and it would not work in my phone, but it would work on the computer.
32gb works find in my droidpro... its a fake kingston... but it does hold the propper ammount
I've never had any problems with my SanDisk or Kingston 32gb microSDHC cards (or any other size microSDHC cards) in my Droid Pro. They should work just fine. If they don't, then something is wrong with the card or the phone.

Micro Sd card issue.

Got my v20 yesterday but its mot reading my 128 gb micro sd card . guess I'm going to have to format but transfer all my files to computer first . can't loose I have a lot . The card is SDXC .

Im having issues with sd card with camera saving to sd card. Also when i crop a photo it won't save. Using my 256 card from my Note 7 that cane with phone. Never had a issue on the Note, with the V20 km.about to just use it for the DAC only n go back to Note 5. Permissions in Google have been charged to give permission but still cant saved edited photos
I recently had a Samsung sdxc evo class 10 fail (suddenly couldn't write anything despite having 80gb of free space left).
Did manage to copy the data off of the card but I ended up having to get a new card, this time I went with SanDisk class 10. So far so good.
Wonder if there is a defective batch going around (I purchased mine about a year ago)

I have the same card from Samsung,( it was free with the Note 7). Unfortunately, I'm still having problems playing videos. I've tried VLC and MX, but both only play some of the files from SD. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Definitely have to format. If you'll notice the card is assigned I don't know what to call it and filesystem may have been handled differently. I had to do same. Took time but works proper.

Same thing happened to me, 128gb card bought about a year ago. I had to buy a new one.
This new one has been "corrupted" twice now to where I had to format it.
Thanks for sharing. But none of those is related to my issue. My card isnt corrupted. My v20 just wint read it but when I put it back in the v10 all is fine also my computer reads it. But the v20 dosent even see external storage that is my issue

Sounds like it may be a hardware issue.

I believe you are right I just popped in a 8gb san disk I had brand new never used and phone doesn't ever register it. But as far as I know regardless of Sd card inserted ir not the phone should show external memory in the menu

Probably needs format on phone.

That is correct. The phone should detect it regardless of the need to format or not.

I solved this by moving the SIM from the main slot to the side slot (dual SIM model). Weird thing was that anything < 64 gig would read fine, larger SD cards wouldn't. Only thing i can think of is a design flaw whereby the SD card is getting pushed up and not making contact properly due to the SIM underneath it. Try taking the SIM out and seeing if it will read/format/re-read it then?

I have an ATT LG V20 that experienced the same symptom so I tried similar procedure by remove SIM card and insert the micro SD then boot up to see if it would first see the SD card and it did, after that I shutdown and reinsert the SIM card and everything is still working.
