Would there be a SenseUI available for the N1?
Does HTC have any intention on releasing an official 2.1 N1 rom?
I hate to get it flashed just to find out that the noise canceling or BT dont work.... That was little pain with the MyTouch..
This isn't development . Hopefully, we can keep this dev area cleaner than the Dream's. . .
Why would you want to put SenseUI on a Nexus? That's blasphemy
Why, for the bloat, of course.
I posted in here because I was wondering if anyone will be working on this type of ROM... so it is development related in a way.
SenseUI has WAY better interface than plain android. I love it but it runs sluggish on MyTouch. Obviously the N1 has the hardware to support this and not even flinch.
The new 2.1 SenseUI got leaked for the Hero. I was wondering if someone would be cooking a rom for the N1 with it. =)
But seriously HTC's widgets are the best!!!

to asnwer one part of your question, no, HTC will not be making a senseUI ROM as this is a google experiance phone. Much like the G1 and MT3G, they wont be getting a SenseUI ROM upgrade.

OH boy Cyanogens over here too!
i was sceptical on buying this phone as if cyan would be here workin with us then i just seen his post..5 seconds later i just bought this phone...arriving 2-3 business days.. lOL
Go Cyanogen!
Exactly, I saw him buy it, and off I went. I wonder how many he's selling for Google? lol.
Seriously looking forward to his new creations from this beast.
I do agree, Sense would be pretty BA if possible.
a sense rom will be made, just a matter of time

from your mouth to gods ears...
The sense ui is the bomb. I own the mytouch and have Qteknology's rom installed and although the sense ui is a tad bit slow on it, i REFUSE to go back to the donut ui.
I wish i could find a faster sense rom for my MT3G with full exchange support.
The second i hear N1 has the sense ui i will be all over it.
Not an official one but I would assume that when the Bravo is released it would be pretty easy to port the rom from that over as it's basically the same phone...
hahaha i love how cyanogen has like a flock of followers. tweet "jumping off bridge" and a lot of people would die. yeah actually i couldnt decide whether or not to buy this phone...i had the money but still its a LOT of money and not that big of an upgrade from my g1. dont analyze that comment i know its more amazing in every way its just...i had a hard time deciding if the upgrades / speed was worth $550.
seeing cyanogen get it...kinda put me over the edge...so its coming tomorrow. hahah.
on another note, i feel that cyanogen should finally play with sense/rosie/whatever. i think he stayed away from it on g1 cause it was too slow...but i dont think that will be an issue anymore . so hopefully he includes it...or pieces of it...cause some of their stuff is really cool and would be amazing on this fast phone.

Okay, maybe all of you people just missed the videos of this phone running Android 2.1. I don't understand how you can say Sense UI is better than the 2.1 version that the nexus is running. I mean, live wall papers is enough to get me over the animated widgets. I can't explain it, but I was watching the press conference and what they were doing with the photo gallery was amazing. I like the lock screen on 2.1 better than I do the Sense 2.0 lockscreen. The drag to answer is cool. Just take another look at some of the demo videos. I don't think there is much comparison.
OMG I GOT THE PHONE. and sense is different / better IMO. i havent looked at it in awhile but the widgets were crazy (better than the battery-eating live wallpapers)...and the dialer was definitely better and i dont remember the lockscreen but i think it was cool...idk whenever i used sense i loved it except it was too slow.
I hope I can have Hero's SenseUI on my N1. The new SenseUI for Espresso / 2.1 is quite ugly IMO.
But that is still way better than the vanilla 2.1 UI. No doubt about it

Sorry man. Sense UI is where it's at!
Just think, everything 2.1 can do, Sense can do it better. You can have your cake and eat it too, and then get extra fat on the ice cream and potato chips sitting on the side. Why stop there...
Personally I can't stand Twidroid in comparison to HTC's Peep App, and I love the way home screen looks in comparison to Vanilla Android. Cmon already! Sense Sense Sense it.

This settles it..definately getting a nexus one instead of a new laptop!
btw maybe a crossbreed between sense&the nexus UI could be made
its a hard decision for me , i love the live wallpapers&the way photos look but i also like the sense animated widgets
Okay so like yeaah. This may sound stupid but here's what I'm thinking. Because there are so many UI's like the Blur from Motorola. Sense from HTC. Blaah blah blah, why not make a custom one. We can make it based off of what the people want. Honestly, I like Blur (Don't laugh at me!) So why not try to get t how we like it. I know everybody's going to want something different, but why not try? We can try to take different parts of different UIs, and put them together and make our own. I know it's lame and all, but think about it. Don't keep reading... pause for 5 seconds. Okay now think about it and stop reading. We can even make this UI use-able for Vanilla Android 2.1 and 1.6 (and even people on 1.5 [hahahaa]). And hey, maybe it'll be so good that the Swagger Jacker Windows Mobile users can Swagger Jack it from us. So what do you say, wanna give it a shot?
where do we start? im interested
Idk. I posted here to see if anyone who knew who to do it was interested and wanted to help. I think we should start Googling.
lol.. trolling is fun
Fosho it is =] I'm trollin on 22's.
But lets be honest, a custom UI like MotoBlur is just like a theme. You just falsh it over something and make it look different and add-on some more widgets and etc... Motoblur is just 1.6 with a custom UI. Not saying that I like it, but it's okay and I mean, what's different from MotoBlur and Android 1.5? Notification Bar, Widgets, More tabs on the bottom, different clock, and more Social Networing connections. How hard would that be to make. We already have our own Widgets. Fasttest I think was the first to make the amazing looking clock that is now used in SuperCSDIv4 Rex3MixCSDI has a Black Notification Bar. We can make some custom Icons. We could Theme ADW_Launcher and give the bottom two buttons some use like how on Sense, you can go to;
All Apps-Phone-Add Widgets
and on MotoBlur, you have;
Phone-All Apps- Contacts
Why not make our own. Give it some customization. Take some random peoples requests. All these UIs and stuff, their all (I think I'm almos 100% correct on this, think about it) Home Replacements. Like BetterCut, DxTop, Home++. They all chang everything and give you more widgets. With MotoBlur and Sense you get new Boot Screens. We can do that. Make everything look cool. We been doing that. Why not make it. Post it on Google.Code. Be everywhere. Everyone will be talking about us and how cool we are. Port it to all the cool devices. Other then a few apps and Modifications, Custom UIs are just Themes. Like Enoch, JesterDroid, etc...
I may not know too much about coding and things like that, but I have more than enough experience with graphics and such. I'm all for this idea so if you need any help designing or just ideas you can pm me or add me on gtalk: [email protected]
Yeaaah, that's what I was waiting for. I thought about the same thing not too long ago. My opinion is, that for maybe the biggest android community it shouldn't be a problem. So good luck
I'm interested in seeing what could be made up. There are a lot of great features from all of the different themes out there, and piecing them together could be awesome if done right. I think a design should be aimed at before you have a million people all willy-nilly trying to make them. We should design, then build, then post a how to, that way the rest of the community can make their own based off of a common idea.
Now can we get anyone up in here who know how to make widgets? WE NEED WIDGETS UP IN HERE!

Maybe you could ask Koxx he creates, very good widgets, with great functionality.
Thanks I'll PM him right away. This is going so well!
So any advancement in this?
I PM'd koxx, but he didn't say anything back yet. I'll wait. Until then, anyone know how to add the little tabs on the bottom, like how MotoBlur has Dialer/All Apps/Contacts, what do you guys think we should make it. Gimmie some opinions.
Re: [THINK TANK] Sippin' on Tea UI
ok kl. Im not sure on how to add buttons. maybe look at one of the launcher2 modifications where buttons were added.

That's a really good idea, I could ask one of those Devs. Do you know who made it? That's a really good idea I love you guy. As a bro.
Okay. Here are some links to some threads with customized buttons. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645683 <-- link to helix launcher and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630659&highlight=doc <-- link to launcher with buttons.
We'll be using the Launcher with Buttons. It's better becuase we can use only two buttons instead of 5. All we need to do is replace the Left and Right tabs, and make the Middle tab a different image so that the Launcher looks better. I think for the All Application Drawer, we could use the 2.1 rectangle. We could make it go like a straight line like the Espresso Launcher, but without the curved corners, ours is going to get all the way to the end of the screen. We could... give me some more ideas on what to put on the left and right tabs, what do you use most. For me it's Messaging and Brower.
Re: [THINK TANK] Sippin' on Tea UI
i think the left tab should be contacts, middle all apps, and right should be direct message. just like on GDE.

Taken into consideration, post will be saved for future refrence. Here's the thing, this is a CUSTOM UI. We are not trying to copy any ideas. But yeah I do text a lot so that'll probably be one of them. In fact, I contacted one of the people who makes Custom Launchers and asked him if he could make his a little different then it already s, so that people could choose what they want where. This is a Custom UI by the people, for the people.
Re: [THINK TANK] Custom UI *BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE*
okay good. now we need to come up with a theme and a list of neccessary widgets needed.

unfortunately you wont be able to use the HTC Sense widgets if you decide to go with a home replacement. of course you can still use the apps, but not the widgets.
if you are looking for nexus replacement. search the market for ADW launcher, launcherpro, or helix launcher. all of them have their own little tweaks and pros/cons. go check them out :]
note: the home replacements wont change anything but the launcher.
Is there a way to remove Sense and add stock Android Home to new 2.1 rom from Rogers? And if yes,how can i do that?
I know that i can remove Rosie from this rom,but there is no stock home in there.
Try ADW or Launcherpro, they are amazingly customizable. Bad thing though, is you cant use HTC widgets
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G using XDA App
Yea I know but i dont need home replacement,i want to remove all Sense apps. And use Android ones.
if you don't want the SenseUI, why don't you try any stable Froyo 2.2 ROMs,
try CM5.0.8, it is pretty cool
Well am not sure why but battery is a lot better on 6.35 radios, and i like how stable that Rogers rom is.So that is the reason, and please no more questions about that.
If someone know the answer to question i asked let me know.
i am actually working on a rom which is basically a 2.1 sense with out all the sense lol
Basically im taking out all the widgets and rosie, and then im going to put in ADW, launcher pro, and touchwiz launcher. Also will have apps2sd etc..
right now im still testing it out , but hopefully i will have it done soon
Thats not really answer to my question but good to know.

I gave up on digging more into kernel due to limited time resource. But, experts' sugguestions are always welcomed.

Is it possible to add HTC Sense to the Samsung Epic? Is there a launcher that can do this or just complete different UI theme or even a complete ROM? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

LauncherPro is an alternative launcher that can be used with the epic -- However, although there is 'HTC Sense' themse for the launcher itself, I think they would have to be ported over for it to work.
TouchWiz is great, I had hero before epic. In my opinion TW definitely out performs Sense, and isn't as bulky. First question everyone will ask you is "Why not just bye the evo if you wanted Sense?"

I have the Epic Experience ROM currently flashed I think, and it has Launcher Pro (I also think, ha). What you're saying is that there are HTC Sense themes for Launcher Pro? Mind explaining how I would be able to change the theme of Launcher Pro to have HTC Sense? And there's a simple, easy answer for that question; The Epic has a nice keyboard that the EVO does not.
You will need to do some google work. First find a LauncherPro sense theme. Then research how to port it over to epic.

You can add Sense UI by buying an EVO
As far as actually adding HTC Sense to this phone: It won't happen mostly because Sense is all closed source.

I have a evo as well with sense custom rom and it a lot more functional as far as features go. I love sense, to bad its not availble on the epic. You can always get an evo however the evo doesn't compare to the epic in power. Movies, games and eveything looks better on the epic thanks to it gpu and super amoled.
I think ROM devs might be able to port it over, but we might have to wait for HTC to release a phone similar enough to ours first. That's what happened on my old G1, at least.

That doesn't make it an impossible task, there's always decompilers, computer science forensics, and educated guess-work that could probably accomplish the job. Whether or not anyone would be willing to take the time to do it is another question.
Of course someone who can code could just start from scratch to build something that gives the same front end results as sense whether or not the back end is actually sense probably wouldn't matter to the end user.
