Facebook Chat - HD2 General

Is it possible to load facebook chat on the HD2? if i go to the main site the chat client doesn't load.
On the left hand side it says friends online. I can pick one of them and the chat box pops up. But when i click 'view all' (friends online) nothing happens.
so it seems browsing the main site on the HD2 i can only chat to friends that appear on the left hand side (a small selection)
So... is there an app for it? or some way to do it? cheers......

download Palringo for Windows Mobile.

download fim

Thanks for the suggestions. I installed both these apps and have the same problem on both.
Parlingo just remains on 'logging in' with the yellow square no matter how long i leave it.
FIM just gives me connection failed all he time.
Any suggestions? Connected over my wifi, opera working fine
Is it possible it doesn't like my very long password? i know microsoft myphone has that isssue
SOLVED:
I ENETERED THE WRONG PASSWORD IN ONE OF THEM AND FACEBOOK BLOCKED MY ACCOUNT, JUST RESTORED IT ALL COOL THANKS

Hi Sentinel196 & kcab87
Thanks for the heads up.

MSN Messenger contacts not showing...

MSN Mobile - WM6 - I see all my contacts OFFLine
I am having the same issue.
I have 2 Live messenger accounts.
I have WM6 on a P4000 and when I go online the first time with a new account, it lists contacts, as soon as I sign out and back in again, I confirm that I AM online - I send myself an MSN message - and I can chat and reply to the msn message but I see all my contacts OFFLine.
If I switch accounts, it works again until I sign out....then the same thing over and over....any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stopping Live Messenger syncing with contacts

Anyone know of a way I can use it without syncing my contacts?
I don't want it even touching my contact list as it adds all these contacts which I don't want on my device and when I remove them here it echoes the changes on my real desktop contact list. Luckily I had a contact list backed up on my desktop pc so I restored it.
So...anyone know how I can use Live Messenger Beta without letting it touch my contacts?
I guess you could disable the syncing of contacts altogether on ActiveSync?
It would stop any contacts syncing but it's the only thing that really comes to mind at the moment
It's a part of WLM, and I don't think you can disable it.

When I installed WLM it installed two programmes on start menu:
Windows Live Messenger and
Windows Live
If I select Windows Live it opens a screen which has Menu option. Within this is an Options setting that then leads to an option called "Sync Options" with this there are tick boxes to deselect synching contacts and e-mail.
Perhaps that might solve your problem?
Mike
That option is actually 'Sync Contacts and Messenger'.
All I want is the second part of that option...I want to sync messenger so it works but not my contacts.
I personally havent sync`d my contacts yet...but looking a bit deeper into this matter i found some registry keys that might help you.
Just open the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Service\Windows Live\Contacts\" there are a few options you can change. Maybe if you set the value "CanDoSync" to "0" it might actually stop syncing your contacts.

I just found this in a thread over in the Wizard forums.
Looks like maybe you don't HAVE to sync contacts anymore...
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I just thought I'd come an taunt all you none beta testers! j/k
The new mobile client is now out!!! It's available on the Microsoft Connect website, and it's pretty damn good...
Feel free to ask any questions about it, i'll gladly answer.
Some of the new features include:
- Contant sync isn't compulsory any more!!! although the contact sync is more intelligent now, and it's much simpler an faster to sort out the initial sync.
- LARGE speed boost.
- New today/home screen applet (Displays search box, and MSN avatar and contact info (All is optional))
- Windows Live config screen.
- Contact avatars (you can have your own now).
- Personal Message support.
- Original MSN Messenger seems to be left un-touched.

So any ideas when this version will be available.
I saw on that thread there are a few people experiancing the same problem. that the their msn contacts are getting added to thier device address book, which i find very annoying. and when you delete of the device it also deletes the contacts from your messenger list
if i was to get hold off msn messenger the one that worked on pocket pc 2002/2003, would it still work?
Dont suppose anyone would have it??
Where to download Live Messenger
Where can I download Live Messenger for the Hermes I have been looking and simply can not find it.
I saw on the connect website from Microsoft that there is a new version out since 16-12-2006. Has anyone been able to download this version already? If so, can someone give a review ?
Thanks
I've just applied to the beta program
hopefully I'm allowed in.
same i have also just joined. see what happens.
Could you guys upload the installer to the xda-devoloper ftp when you recieve it?
Somehow I'm not allowed to sign up for the beta. Perhaps it's the firewall here at school.
What are the latest news about it ?
Is this "contact sync problem" solved in this version and is this availaibe for download ?,
The versions I've tried you're still forced to sync with no other options
Plus theres been lots of problems even getting push with hotmail...the option just won't stick to "when they arrive" but stays on manual sync
is there an answer for this yet?
i would love to use windows live messenger, but hate getting some 250 contacts added to my contacts (in my phone)
/timmy
Just spent hours re-editing my contacts cos of live! eager to find a way of stopping it syncing but allowing me into messenger!
well is there a program that lets you put contacts into groups so that i could just filter all the live contacts?
a free one? or you know uhh one with a key?
falum: im the same as you, its a bastard to fix..
i wish this could be hacked at the moment, ive also found the WLM is pretty resource hungry, anyone else found this?

Windows live mobile beta problem

Hi everyone,
I have recently installed the Windows Live Mobile, it was working perfectly but now it seems that there is a problem with the 'synchronise'.
When I click the synchronise option, the email can be synchronised, but not the Contacts & Email. It always fails. also, when you open the Messenger, it always no contacts online, but actually there are.
Anyone has any ideas of this?
Thx in advance...
The online contacts appear after ~ 10-20 sec. As for the sync, I do not know.
I have the same email sync problem. I figured it's because my perticipation is still pending for the offical beta enrolment. I downloaded the file from another source so I thought it maybe there server seeing that I'm not part of the beta program yet. Are you part of the beta program or did you do like me and get it from the forums?
My only compaint about this version is they still didn't fix the issue that when you sign in to messenger the first time it adds all your MSN Messenger contacts to your address book, which they are already there so now there are duplicates. I have there full contact card with all there details and now a second one that just has there email and messenger name. It should be smart enough to see that that email addresss and IM name already exist in my address book and link to it instead of creating another one.
Yeah I got the messenger from the froum also.
I have tried to login the Windows live mobile using another ID, it works fine, but just not mine.
I dont know...
I don't like how WLM mobile takes all your messenger contacts and automatically puts them into your 'contacts' on the phone, which ends up in my contacts folder in Outlook. That's horrible, I don't want the two mixed up and now I have no choice, mix them up, or don't use it?
Go delete them from my contacts folder in outlook, that deletes them from my messenger contacts as well!!
Pocket MSN never forced your messenger contacts to be placed or synced into your 'contacts'.
I got that problem too

My messenger contacts suddenly appeared as offline. Strange. No reboot or relogon could fix it. They could IM me but I could not contact them. I suspect that this has to do with the beta, maybe they simply block old betas to force the legitimate beta testers to use the latest version.
Hi guys,
Can someone point me in the direction of this download? I registered with MS Connect but havent had anything back from them yet.
WLM works well on my N91 but i dont have it on my TYTN
Thanks

Doubt you'll hear anything from them, I registered a few months ago and for some reason their registration system was TOTALLY cocked up, so I ended up with a mangled registration and they point blank refused to offer me any useful help.
So now I can log into MS Connect, but I can't see the right live beta tests to join them properly... It sucks. Guess I'll just have to wait on this one.
is the latest WLM on the FTP i couldn't find it? can somebody mirror it somewhere?

Yahoo Go!

Anyone played around with Yahoo Go! for WM5 yet? Any thoughts .. reviews?

I used to have Yahoo.go installed on my WM5 Hermes (HTC TyTn, cingular) for quite some time. I love it, it kept my device in sync with all my yahoo services.
All my phone contacts where saved to my yahoo address book, all my calendar entries where sync with my yahoo calendar, and of course the mail as well. Also every time I took a picture with my phone camera, it will back it up to my yahoo photos, so that even after I deleted the picture from my phone it was still saved on yahoo photos, and I could download it back in to the phone any time I needed it.
I am very upset at the moment because I just superCID my TyTn, so that I could install the newest Cingular Rom in it, witch I did and it worked fine, but when I went to install yahoo go, so that I could have all my contacts, mail, calendar, etc. I find out that yahoo upgraded yahoo Go to 2.0, and that new version has not been released for PPC's yet, only for regular phones.
So, since I don't have outlook, because I always backed up my data and info to yahoo, now I have no way to sync it all back to my phone, so I have to do it manually.
The new yahoo go looks great, I can't wait for the PPC release, but until then, I will have to make do by manually importing all my contacts and calendar entries, and accessing yahoo mail by pop3.
check it out here: http://mobile.yahoo.com/go
My bad....
ok I found the link to yahoo go 1.0 here it is: http://us.rd.yahoo.com/mobile/conne...ad.go.yahoo.com/sm/ygo/win_mobile/ygo_ppc.exe
I just installed it and I am synchronizing my data as we speak.
Looks cool, worth a try...downloading.
Great find!!! However, I get an error message when I try to access stocks, weather and movies...anyone else?
It is working fine for me ... weather/movice/finance/driving directions etc. just link in (by opening up PIE, which is my default browser) to my already set preference on my "my yahoo" page.
I like the email integration --- much easier than trying to view my yahoo mail via webpage (and I never wanted to pay for the service to allow pop email access)
thanks for the link! I didnt know we had a working edition for WM5, it kept telling me no version was available!
I've been using this for quite some time. Makes easy backups of photos. It automatically uploads them to my yahoo Photos.
And backing up my calendar, and contacts is always good.
i have issues (here in the UK) of accessing Yahoo Messenger via Yahoo Go - it loads a blank page and will not take me through to the IM. i tried changing the part of the url from 'uk' to 'us' and got through - anyone else having the same issue?

I've just tried it here, it takes me to a web-based yahoo messenger. It sucks, but works!! I'm using the PPC version on a Wizard BTW.
Yahoo Go! for the PPC has a big memory leak problem.
Its been noticed before on this forum as well as the Cingular HTC forum. The application hogs all available memory (if set up to auto sync every X minutes), and forces a soft reset every other day.
I switched to using the POP3 yahoo account (premium service).

or this one

This first is yahoo go v1 and the second link it yahoo go for WM5 for the Moto Q/Palm700w.
Maybe the old version 1 is bad, I havent tried either yet.

[How to] Chat to yahoo, aim, etc (no MSN) using GTalk built in client - data, not sms

Hi !
I won't go into too much details, but the thing is that gtalk is a xmpp service, so you can connect using "PSI" and after login you can use "service discovery" and add an IM transport from another server to your rooster (good list of servers here: http://www.jabberes.org/servers/) and then the contacts from that transport appear in gtalk. The status updates are not instant, but it's ok - less trafiic and less battery consumption. But the messages come in instantly, just the status is less often updated.
Please do this with a test account first, and DON'T DELETE CONTACTS BEFORE DELETING THE TRANSPORT FROM ROOSTER.
PS: i never got disconnected since i did this, unlike the im apps in market.
Good luck !
I'm bumping this, because i have the impression people don't get it: you can chat with yahoo, aim, msn, etc... with the built in chat client - uses data, not sms, and it's the most reliable (never crashes or gets disconnected), uses little data and has no impact on performance. WIN - WIN.
The problem with this in my experience is reliability, even with my own jabber server the transports didn't seem 100% stable :/
How exactly do you add in the information to perform this?
i'll have to say google for more details, but this is the procedure:
Those are the steps:
1. connect to gtalk with psi (this you need to google first, then if it doesn't work use another port - 443 i think worked for me)
2. open http://www.jabberes.org/servers/ in a browser to have it handy
3. in psi menu use service discovery and enter a server from the page above (choose a free server)
4. double click a transport in the window that appears, and enter username & pasword for the corresponding im network (this is called registering)
5. in psi accept all friends requests
6. rename the contacts you see in psi - they will show up on the phone renamed
again: do this with a test account (not a google test account, a yahoo/msn/etc test account) first, and don't delete yahoo/msn/etc friends before deleting the transport - i did it and had to add my yahoo contacts again.
@nurre: i didn't have any problems yet... except when a transport went down, and i chose another server with another transport - going smooth for about a week
I'd be interested in trying this out, but I don't have enough time in the day to google around about PSI and figure out how to set it up. I'd love an actual step-by-step, though. Not that you're in any way obligated, of course; I'm just saying that I'd be much obliged.

Then you don't need this badly enough. The step by step is right there FFS (you want it click by click ?)
for step 1: http://psi-im.org/wiki/Google_Talk_HowTo_for_Psi_0.12 if it doesn't work, use port 443
If you might explain what you are talking about exactly, so that I decide whether I have to struggle even more to find relevant info ?
( and I could not access the link http://www.jabberes.org/servers/ )
As far as I could find out, PSI is a im client (jabber and others) ? On the PC ?
So is your solution to have it running on a PC, so that it relays msn and others to Gtalk ? That means it only works if it is up and running on the PC ?

the title says what you can acomplish, and the first two posts present the advantages of doing this.
the http://www.jabberes.org/servers/ seems to be down, check it again later. meanwhile you can see free servers here: http://xmpp.org/services/
PSI is only used to add other im networks to your gtalk account. it's used for configuration and rename purposes only. It doesn't have to run to have this working.
And another advantage: if you're near a pc and you sense a long chat coming, you can connect to your gmail account using PSI (or use the online client at www.meebo.com) and you're logged in in two places at once (PC and G1). you receive messages in both places, but reply from the PC.
And another one: log in at gmail and you have all your conversations saved (including yahoo/msn/aim/etc)
Trust me, it's worth it ! No other chat client is as reliable as the built in one. My status is "Mobile 24/7 on android".

I edited the title to reflect the msn issue. I have no idea how this could be fixed. Maybe add a transport for jabber (if such thing exists) and that would have a msn transport - like another layer in the middle. I don't know if this is possible, i'm just saying (someone who knows better might call bulls&^t).

Solution?
Ok, got it to work for adding conztacts.
All my contacts appear in PSI, but not in GTalk.
I added 2 accounts to PSI.
#1: The GTalk-account
#2: An account of a server with icqtransport (like aim) (there registered with it and registered the icq transport)
Please help!
when I try to discover the service with manually typing jaim.at in the place where gmail.com is (e.g. jaim.at) withouth adding this server and gtalk (so only gtalk) it displays the ICQ Transport at jaim.at , when I register it says succesful, but none of my contacts appear.
