Hey guys
I'm kinda embarassed when i have to make calls on my HD2, because when you press one of the numbers in the dialer, the tone is way too high >>, is there any way to lower it without lowering the system volume?
Appreciate any help
Valid point here, since having mine I have rarely dialled a new number, just used contacts, but recently had to dial a few numbers and was blasted by the tone
It would be good if it could be lowered.
I am on cooked ROMs, so I'm not sure the settings available to me are applicable to you (stock ROM, I presume).
Go to Settings tab; select Menu; All Settings; Personal; Phone; and select Off for the Keypad.

I just figured out how to set mp3 ringtones for the Sony Xperia... but I'm wondering if there is a way to set a different ringtone for each contact in my phonebook ??
Yes open the contact and scroll to the bottom
I opened up the contact, and it shows their name , call, and send text message only. When choose "edit" to edit the contact, I can only change their name and number. Can you be more specific please ?
When I edit a contact I have 20+ things I can change about that one person. One of those is 'Ring tone'. Might be some of the SPB software adding it but I doubt it....
Ohh, ok thanks! I found it in the SPB panel, but it's not there in the windows mobile contact for some reason..
I think it depends on how you have the contact saved. The option to add a ringtone to a contact might only be available if the contact is saved to the phone, not the sim card.

On my X1, this is how i get to do it.
1) open contacts from start menu.
2) select the contact to edit. You should now see a screen with options like call mobile, call home, etc
3) click onthe name of the contact, and you should now see a screen with a lot of options for that contact.
4) scroll down until you see the option for ring tone. now click in the text space for the ringtone drop down selection box.
Hope this helps. There are also a lot of other useful options to be found on that screen, like setting pictures for contact. birthday reminders, etc.
On my Palm Treo 750 I was able to set different ring tone to contacts in my contact list and different again to callers not in the list generally.
I quite liked that and I am missing this on my Leo. Is it there hidden somewhere or is there a program to install to get that feature?

If you select a contact and do Menu, Edit Contact, you can assign a ringtone in there, so each contact can have their own. I don't know of a way to do this to all contacts at once, so it could get a bit laborious if you've got a lot of them, but that will do what you've asked.

Yep, I know I can assign ring tone to an indiviidual contact, but that is not what I am talking about. I have probably about 200 of my "closest friends" - not really - my business contacts, imported from Outlook in my phone so your suggestion is not really practical.
The beauty of the the Treo feature is that if you hear a ringtone associated with any unknown caller, you don't need to bother looking on the screen to see who it is.
I just upgraded from a G1 to the Nexus One. The thing I noticed from 1.6 to 2.1 is that while under a Contact's info on 1.6 you were able to assign custom ring tone for that contact. On 2.1 that option is not there. Did they move it some where else or how do you assign custom ring tones to your contacts and not just have one default ring tone.
It's still there - but for some reason, not when you edit a contact - just choose a contact from your contact list, and press the options key, and then choose 'Options' - you'll be able to set the ringtone or trigger voicemail for that contact.
When going to the phone dialler, you can tap out the name of a person but it does not give you the option to call any of the associated numbers. Seems to only come up with one number (probably the first in the list).
This was coming up wrong for a few people I call a lot so I set their default number. I now don't know how to deselect the default number (so there is no default). I want to do this because when I add a short cut to a person on the desktop, it will give a drop down list of numbers to call if there is no default but dials the default number automatically if it does have a default number.
Seems really bizarre. I would have expected:
Being able to call any number when entering a name from the dialler (with the default number first if it has been set).
Being able to call any number from a person short cut regardless whether a default number is set or not.
Being able to remove a default number from a contact.
Any help or workarounds will be greatly appreciated.
TIA
I am on JM2 and I don't have this problem. Whenever I start typing the name of a contact, it appears, I press on it and all the number are there to choose...
That's promising. Are you able to confirm if there is a way to remove the default number selection from a contact once it has been set? Thanks.
Hi,
Is it possible to add a profile image to the Android voicemail contact that appears in the phone call history when you touch a voicemail entry in the notification pull down?
I've spent quite a bit of time collecting images for all my contacts and, though I know it isn't a bug in Android, it bother me to see the blank voicemail profile image among the phone call history items. Touching those history items does pull up a contact entry for voicemail but there doesn't seem to be a way to edit it. Is there something that I'm overlooking or is it just not possible yet to do so?
I have the same Problem.
I want to put in an Image which contains all the tone dail numbers of my Voicemail.
It's so disgusting to wait for the woman's voice who says "for ... press 1, for ... press 2" etc.
I'll hope there will be a possibility
