Is the SDK tools of SE different from other android phones? - XPERIA X10 General

I comment on it because I have installed the SDK tools of android that work perfectly with my Htc Magic, but with Xperia X10 they do not work, when I set
#adb devices
it does not show anything, and if I set
#adb shell
it goes out:
"device not found"
I have the drivers adb installed of SE
Thank you
PD: Sorry for my bad english

Yes.. but you should do that change in the X10 settings ... not on the SDK... =)
Your SDK probably works as supposed to... but you need to change settings on your X10 device.

If I have that changed into the X10, since I have commented I'm not new in Android, it has been 6 months since I have a Htc Magic and using the SDK tools almost every day.
Also I have the drivers installed USB, which exist in the zephyrix post, and when I connect the cable usb in notifications bar it shows:Conected in depurating mode, all that works out for me correct but later it does not detect the phone to me on having written #adb devices
Perhaps me not to explain very well, since my english is'nt very good
Thanks

Can't connect to adb shell after Damagecontrol 2.1 ROM update

I have my 2.1 DamageControl ROM running fine (thx damage!). I'm just trying to connect to adb. I'm on win7, 64bit.
I used to connect fine when I was on fresh 1.1.
I thought it was b/c I had an outdated sdk, which I did. I upgraded from v3 to v5, and made sure I downloaded all the latest, including the latest usb driver.
I also checked to make sure I have HTC sync 2.08.
but I just keep getting this.

Try this. It worked for me with Windows 7.

I started at Step II. Reinstall Drivers since I already had the SDK.

I had this same problem. Go into your device manager and reinstall your ADB driver. If you're in the same situation I was in, it'll have a "!" on the ADB item in your list. Right click ADB, update driver, pick from a list of available drivers... or something like that. In the list it gives you, you should see something along the lines of "Android ADB Interface." Pick that... it may give you some kind of warning but install it anyway and you're done.
Try this,
adb kill-server
abd start-server

FYI, this one didn't work.
@crunchy - hm, I don't see any adb driver reference
I also went to device mgr in win7, and yeah, it has the !, but when I tried to update, it still failed. I even tried pointing to the usb driver folder in my android sdk, but it didn't like it. maybe something specific to win7 64bit?
Maybe I need to install the drivers manually? But what driver should I look for, for this Damagecontrol 2.1 ROM Sprint Hero now?
Did you make sure to enable debugging?
I don't have a link handy, but just go to the HTC support site for the Eris and download the latest HTC sync. It will fix your drivers, no fuss and straight forward.

Yes, tried with it off, and on. I also tried reinstalling HTC sync 2.08.
I didn't tell you to reinstall sync 2.0.8
Go here http://member.america.htc.com/download/Driver/DROID_ERIS_Verizon/HTCSync2.0.25.zip
And install THAT version of sync it has the proper drivers.
Think I told you to go to the Eris page by accident? Think again. Do it, fix your problem and let's all move on.
Sorry for being so blunt, just frustrated you that you wrote off my original suggestion, responding that you already tried reinstalling the same version of sync that wasn't working in the first place. If you paid attention to my first tip this would have already been solved.

Must be a problem with the htc site, the link I provided was a direct link. I'll see if I can find another
Edit: now you do have some kind of weirdness going on. If that didn't work.
First make sure you have done the following... reboot pc and phone. Usb debugging enabled. Then connect phone attempt and shell and copy error here.
Also a question, did you install sync 2.0.8 prior to installing the 2.0.25version ?
A few other possible steps you could try.
Go to your start menu and type cmd one you see the cmd icon pop up in the menu rightclick and run as administrator. Then,
adb kill-server
adb start-server
adb shell
If you still get device not found try: adb devices and paste the output here.

[Problem] Adb won't show up devices whatever I do...

I Tried guides that try to solve this from everywhere, Including here,
I used latest version of the android usb-drivers that comes with the latest Android SDK (downloaded directly from google with the SDK download GUI thinggy).
Tried to uninstall all usb roots,
Tried force removal of driver using external app and re-installations
Tried different drivers from multiple locations,
And still, whatever I try - there is notihng on the "adb devices" list
"List of devices attached"
<CR>
<CR>
C:\.......>
Everything shows up okay, on first run of the adb the 'whatever' service starts and everything is fine
Device DOES appear properly on device manager "Android Composite ADB Interface".
Windows DOES the pnp beep whenever I check or uncheck the "Debugging mode"
This hapnned both on STOCK ROM (first or second software version of the phone released) and on latest Cyanogen 5.0.6
One thing I did noticed, "Android ADB Device" Either appear under "Android" type (usb debugging on) or under USB Controllers (When usb debugging is off).
Ho, I did not mentioned the phone, I'm talking about Nexus One.
Thanks for any help.
Amm, any ideas?
Try using a program named USBDEVIEW, remove the android driver and plug the phone to your PC again and wait to reinstal the drivers.
I take it your on Windows, so I might not be much help as I use Linux strictly but try to run the command prompt as Administrator (right click > run as I think) and then
adb kill-server
adb start-server
Not sure if that will help but I know in Linux you must start the ADB server as root in order to see the attached devices, so I assume in Windows you must start it as Administrator.
I ran into a similar issue with my sapphire. Turns out it was as simple as me having my tethering app on. Once I turned it off (pda net), it worked like a charm. Hope this helps

hmm >.< nothing is working for me this laptop is not detecting my (Nexus S) device in ADB
windows sees it fine, drivers are installed (for normal mode and ADB mode), mass storage works,
but ADB Devices list shows up empty
2 other phone works just fine (SGS & XT720)
Update: went to another computer and it shows up properly.... (you just gotta "luv" windows )
Try installing htc sense from htc website even if running vanilla. It will install the driver properly. Then un-install sense and keep drivers. It's the only thing that worked for me.

This is X10 forum
There is a Program called "RemoteSMS" were you can write SMS from your Computer. To "control" the Phone from PC (install , uninstall *.apk etc) is a tool too (forgot the Name) but for that you need root :-d , which we dont have atm
Or you can use androidscreencast.jnlp, see attachment.
To launch open cmd and type: javaws androidscreencast.jnlp (Note, you must have adb installed. For further info download android sdk)
Forgot to mention your phone must be connected through USB

If you have installed the Android SDK, open a command prompt and switch to the android tools directory:
for example:
Code:
cd D:\android\tools <-- this is the tools directory I use
Can also be:
cd X:\*path to SDK*\tools
then use
adb devices
This is to see if your device is connected through usb
You should see this:
Code:
List of devices attached
*Some product number* device
In my case:
List of devices attached
HT9A6LG05799 device
Then execute:
Code:
javaws androidscreencast.jnlp
And it should open a java screen and then show your android screen on the computer.
Also make sure you have the latest Java installed, which can be found here:
javadl . sun . com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=39502
One note though: the screen needs to be enabled, so not in sleep mode
I hope this works, it works for me, but I'm using an HTC Tatto instead of a SE X10, so I'm not able to check this for the X10 yet.
Murch, that doesn't seems to work for the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10. I don't get up the device list to the X10 no matter what i do.
So can anyone else try this out with an X10 to see if this is the case?.

Connecting Through ADB using android sdk r06 for XP

First this will be straight to the point this is for windows xp users only
download sdk from http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html...then you will find this
windows android-sdk_r06-windows.zip
size 23293160 bytes
check sum 7c7fcec3c6b5c7c3df6ae654b27effb5
you will need a unzip program obviously , unzip the file "android-sdk-windows"
to the desktop or your c:\drive ,
so it should look like this in your address bar..
C:\android-sdk-windows
if you are using this way or if you use desktop its up to you, then after that click Start on your pc,
move your mouse up to My Computer and right click, you should see Properties click on it...
now you should see a tab that says "System Properties"....with 7 tabs click on "Advanced"...
then at the very bottom you should see a tab that says .."Environment Variables"...click on that
..now at the very bottom theres a window "System variables" ...scroll down till you see the line
"Path C:\Program Files\Common Files\Teleca Shared "
is what mines says yours might be different but it doesn't matter click on it and then click "Edit"...
"Edit System Variables" tab pops up if its highlighted great push delete if not delete it then put...
1) C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
...if thats where you stored it i know i added the tools folder to it do worry about it ...
or
...if you stored it on your desktop ,you need to go to that folder ,
then go to the tools folder, and then look in the address bar you should see something like
2) C:\Documents and Settings\****\Desktop\android-sdk-windows\tools
now you either have 1) or 2) now with out the "1) or 2) " lol
...copy and paste
those address in the "Edit System Variables" tab and click Ok
now you still need drivers.., people always say this will get you connected,
but it doesn't so here you go,
they are attach at the bottom just do what i did extract to that android-sdk-windows folder ,
and then when you connect and it ask for driver just point the wizard there
..i am on here daily so i am around to help
also to run a check to you have adb done correctly go Start click Run type in cmd,
and when command prompt opens , or just open command prompt
with your device connected type....
adb devices you should see some text saying
list of devices attached
000000000000 device
your connected

Now, my phone recognize that my device is android, but I can't acces internet on phone, using USB cable. To be clear, I whant to use pc (LAN) connection on HD2... I googled everywhere, but its probably not possible. Right?? If not possible, how can I install apps, without mobile currier internet also?? if your host pc is windows, you have to install a proper driver for the hd mini
if it's linux, no driver is needed.
Grab the driver here>> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18807579/Photon_NAND_Tools/driver2.rar
I tested with Windows 7 x64, it works fine.
EDIT: Link updated, the driver is now fetched from the newest Android SDK. It should work well

if your host pc is windows, you have to install a proper driver for the hd mini
if it's linux, no driver is needed.
Grab the driver here>> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18807579/Photon_NAND_Tools/driver.zip
I tested with Windows 7 x64, it works fine.

That's weird... maybe a problem with the driver... do u have a x84 windows ? Maybe the driver works only for x64... i don't know this driver..
The wifi should work ! maybe a duplicated mac adress... try this :
1. turn on wifi
2. lunch terminal and type : su
3. type: busybox ifconfig eth0 hw eth "0E:00:A0:03:1E:FF"
4. try to reconnect
You can go back to wm with RUU from HTC website : htc(dot)com/europe/help/htc-hd-mini/#download
1. turn off ur device
2 turn it on by pressing power button and vol- together, u should have a multicolor screen, connect ur device to your pc.
3. run the file u downloaded and follow the steps at the screen.
To disable debug mode :
when u connect your phone to your pc u will have a notification just touch it and deactivate usb debug.
I have win xp i think its x32
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
mmm... peter08po updated the drivers link... try the new driver...

@Vogelhaus7,
I had the same error when i tried to go back on wm.
In fact, you can't take any roms.. the rom must be for YOUR country.
Example:
I'm french then i tried a rom with "FRA" or "Europe" in title, but same error: "bad vendor id"
I forget that one day i tried to put my serial number on HTC website, and my phone was DEUTSCH.
Then i take a Deutsch ROM with "DE" in title.
reboot with tricolor screen, put cable....
It works !
Make sure you have the right rom
