Ive been running 1.10.3 SuperD but I just recently flashed CSDIV4 and it feels alot more smooth and faster. What do you guys think feels faster?
I find csdi faster, but it doens't have the eclair bits (the difference in speed is so quite insignificant to me, so I stuck with superd for the eclair). so if you can live without that, choose csdi.
Yeah csdiv feels so much more smooth than superd for some reason.
between csdi and superD
I go for SuperD
less buggy
speed is near CSDI
plus eclair bits
SuperD > CSDI

Hmm i ran a benchmark of 2.2 while running this. I was running 2.3 on Csdiv4. And Csdi felt alot more stable too.

No it wasn't just starting up. I rebooted it couple times before even trying.
Right now im running SuperEcliare3.0 So far its alot faster than any other rom i ran. not as smooth as Csdiv4 though.

Csdiv4 is so far the most stable and smoothest rom ive flashed.
SuperEclaire 3.0 Is extremely fast but its a bit unstable and it doesn't have the same smooth feeling as Csdiv4.
Trust me SuperD cant touch Csdiv4... atleast to me.
SupeD for life , no matter what anyone says.... its the fastest, cleanest, less buggiest and the list goes on.......
Install Super D and experience the best Donut rom on the face of the planet!
Super D is the truth if your looking for a stable but plain Rom.

no offense but i have been trying all flavors of superD, and the fastest superD
i have used was 1.11.1 and the best 3d game donut rom was 1.9.3 WG
best donut rom was CSDIV4 Remix (in day 2 day use)

Looking in the Adroid Development forum, there seem to be lots of Eclair roms out there. Some in very early alpha stages, others which have had many revisions. And with the camera fix, it now seems that most/all issues of usability have been addressed.
Just so I don't have to flash ALL the Eclair roms out there, can someone pose their experience with these Eclair roms, and which they prefer for day to day usage on their G1?
My current rom is the latest Cyanogen rom. How are the Eclair roms speedwise compared to the Cyanogen roms? Are they responsive, or sluggish?
Hopefully others can benefit from your experience with these new roms.

using JAC's xRom 1.0 and its very smooth, with the exception of video playback. I'd say its almost onpar with cyanogen. Using the 10mb ram hack for both xRom and cyanogen.

Im using manup 1.5 with the 10mb rom hack mod (posted by another member) and it is blazing fast...almost as fast as the super d i was using and i don't get any fc except on bootup the stuff starting up says fc/wait and you just pick wait then its fine.
i'd highly recommend it and everything is smooth on it. video playback looks fine.

Ive worked with two or three different eclair ROMs, and I can say, as a generalization, two things:
1) RAM hack == good idea. G1 seems too sluggish without the extra RAM, especially once I get all my programs going. Not a 3D gamer, so it hasnt shown any down side from my point of view.
2) BFS == bad idea. Don't know if this is just me, but any ROM I've tried that has been based on BFS has been significantly less stable. FCs, hangs. Ive even had the music app just stop entirely on me once or twice (something that I've never had happen on other ROMs, even Hero ones. Maybe one of the Devs will make up a better ROM for this, but as of now... meh.
Just my two cents.

Well
In my experience Dwang was the fastest 1.6 I tried, Dwang is his name - David Wang or something like that, But your right sadly he ain't made a eclair build which is a little disappointing as that would of been my option & this question wouldn't be needed...
This Question: What IS the most fastest & stable eclair build out there, something like Dwang 1.7.1 but for eclair.
By this I mean not the fastest on start-up after flashing as all ROMS are fast on start-up, I mean after a week of use with a bucket-load of apps installed & if your using mods (e.g 10MB RAM Hack) add that in your post so I know how to get it as good as I can.
I believe my details of phone I'm using are in my sig but because some don't notice it no matter how bright you make it then here it is - HTC Magic 32B (also know as the Sapphire 32B & MT3G).
Your guys help will be great.

I tried the TMUS rom and it was ok, but battery life and speed are nowhere near on par with my oem androoted donut. Is TMUS about as good as it gets?
I'm thinking of trying superE, biffmod and maybe a couple of the other ota remixes next. Maybe even CM5 again.
Try Super E and Chromatic 3.9.1 because Froyo still have buggs.
the bugs are out of froyo for a while there is "stable" imo cyanogen rom and there is the OTA with a little tweakage in the dev section...
Complete eclair 2.21 is awesome very quick very stable havnt got an fc yet ive been using it for about a day im frequently changing roms and i think you can ram hack on complete eclair so it will be amazing anywho good luck
Is there a working 2.1 ROM for the G1 which has Live Wallpapers with minimal battery drain and also something close to running at a fast speed with GPS/camera/maps/streetview etc all working?
At the moment I'm using SuperEclair V8.2 by XxKOLOHExX and it's fine and all, but the system slows down to the point of becoming near unusable when Live Wallpapers are on - not to mention the huge battery drain. Are there any ROMs which have such issues corrected?
Thanks in advance~
I'm using superD 1.6. I would change to 2.1 if there was something as fast as 1.6. I have yet to see an eclair rom to match the speed of donut.
It's been a while since I've used a 2.1 rom, but when I did, I didnt notice any battery loss from the live wallpapers. From what I know, live wallpapers doesn't even run when your phone is off/sleeping. LWP's turn back on when your phone comes back on, so it's not constantly running.
edit: That didnt really answer your question =)

+1 for Open Eclair. I used it for my everyday rom for months with no problems. Recently switched back to SuperD out of boredom though.
Ohhh, cool. Looks like Open Eclair is the best way to go. Thanks!
latest open eclair or kingklick's ASOP 2.1 v1.9
Cannon 1.2 with 3d patch 2.0 is fully of fc.
SuperEclair v2.4 or v3.0 I suggest v2.4 with Extended Pack.
Kolehe beta 3.0 Rom. I bet theres no Eclair rom faster. flash and see for yourself. But no LWP's though. And you shouldnt be asking for a fast eclair that has minimal battery drain and complain about something slowing down and your using LWP's.
OpenEclair 1.3.0.1 is very feature-complete, stable and the "no 3D" version is fast enough for daily use. The 3D version though is slow. I've missed several phone calls because it takes that long for the phone to wake up and show caller ID.
The OpenEclair devs are promising improvements on that front in the upcoming 2.0 version, so I'd try that out when it becomes available.

Now i only have two questions because i had Cyanogenmod and it has Power Control in the status bar like the samsung galaxy i think and i can also change the number of lines and collumns my desktop has, and chage the weight of the widgets.
Anyone knows what can i do to make that things work in this version?

This was only tested for video / gameplay.
I would usually say there all about the same. You probably wont notice a significant difference between the different versions.
My experience with VillainROM5.22 - stable, but slow. without sense ui little quicker.
ahero0.7 and Androbin 1.1110 (both without JIT) with better speed.
latest version ahero0.8 and Androbin 1.11.... beta r2 (both with JIT) with significant increase of speed. but ahero with lot of reboot, Androbin without problem.
my opinion, same as nprussell (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6275129&postcount=344) , Androbin beta r2 is best.
VanillaEclair its the most fast rom i ever test..
Villain 5.3 its the best SenseUI rom i ever test..
Want a fast ROM? Dont use 2.1!
Use Kimera 1.6 or Modaco 3.2 !!!!! In my opinion Kimera is faster just because of its new overclocked Kernel =) But not my problem next Week my Desire arrive =) =) =)
Has that kernel still got the issue of the camera not working?
have been trying Chpoubs 4.0 Expresso this afternoon. its one of the quicker 2.1 roms, if you are comfortable with using a beta test rom.
I haven't tried any other 2.1 ROMs, but Villain 5.3 is way faster than 5.2.
there have been soooo many threads on this. just do a search!
http://android.modaco.com/content/h.../304106/revote-for-best-2-1-rom-w-benchmarks/
PS. plus, this is in the wrong forum.
What's the real need of a fast ROM?
I've almost tried all of the ROM's, since 1.5 to 2.1, none of them without Sense, because the HTC Hero without it, it's only on more PDA on the scene.
I want for lots of reasons a new ROM based on 2.1 running Sense, but so far none it's good enough. All of the ROM's have lots of bugs, lots of missing features, such gmail, facebook (for contacts sync and completion). Another crucial missing features are MMS and APN settings never working fine.
Here I should say that VillainROM 5.3 it's the best/stable/fast until now. However I rollback to stock 1.5 rooted... It's so far the only one real fast and stable.
An idea for developers: Try to put on all of yours cooked ROM's some file browser. It's very useful for the first time to run, before goes to market.
Thanks to all!

My phone has not been running as smmothly as I would have liked. While there is not as much support as I would like for CM7 and the new spl and radio I am sick and tired of changing the radio and spl via fastboot so I am staying but I would like the user experience to be more pleasant. What performance settings work best for you? What CPU settings do you use? What are the best patches? What is so great about Yoshi? I hear you have only half phone functionality with his ROM aka I'll pass. Is there a stable version of Honeycomb available?
WOW... I have to say I am shocked... YOOOSHI is faster than Cyanogen by far... running 124 apps very SMOOOTHLY. No lag @ Compache Hack 32mb swap, JIT on, vm heap 32, home and messaging in memory, dithering disabled, in mem CPU low 160, high 576... no swapiness. Default Yoshi launcher. Thanks Yoshi, can't wait for honeycomb.

Honeycomb is not coming out for phones. Honeycomb/Android 3.0+ is for tablets. And if your G1 is having issues running CM6/7 you are more than likely not going to be able to run Honeycomb as it is optimized for dual-core processors.
Try laszlos froyo best rom I've used on g1 froyo 4 trout is also good but you have to manually congif some stuff laszlos is good right out of the box

Checked/run both CM7Unofficial and Ginger Yoshi RC5.2. I wanna just say that Yoshi's ROM works twice as fast and fully stable than CM7. System settings were the same for both ROMs.
I will try Froyo for trout. Unfortunatly Yoshi has started locking up. Honeycomb doesn't sound so promising anymore. Yes the G1 is a freak but at this point its like trying to modify windows 7 on a machine built for windows 95. What is the point? I'm not thrilled with CM7, and I HATE CLockwork recovery and if its the only way for me to get updates from the phone forget it...

Super D is Super outDated, fast but a blast from the past, on the other hand Super F. Super Fu*k is a monster... and I have to say Froyo is by far the fastest, eats Gingerbread man, brings the bees to it's knees and Cyanogen is striaght up unstable, willing, but unable.
Just got a Hero again a few after i got my old one destroyed.. Back then there wasnt even made a custom rom, so now im going to ask here.
What Custom Rom do you guys recommend ? I have tried allready tried ChocolateFroyo and SalsaSense 4 .. However none of these two roms seems to perform good enough for me to use..
Actually its not that i want that much.. I just want a Android 2.x rom with a good performance and OC kernel + HTC Sense.. I just tend to stick to the 2.2 roms because 2.3 has too many bugs and i've heard that the Android 2.1 roms still suffer from the Random SMS sending issue..
Can you guys recommend anything ? Thanks !
If you want performace, go Vanilla Eclair. If you want Sense and over 2.1, it is a bit trickier. You can try Herolatte, but if you think ChocolateFroyo was too slow, there probably is no current rom which suits you.

I reccomend Kimera 3.0. Its almost as fast as Vanilla, IMO a bit more stable. I used it for around a month, and recived all my texts, and calls. Only problem is that there is no Apps2SD if you use Fly13 (It's the best kernel imo)

I've tried loads of different rom's and the herodeck 1.3e from my sig is my favourite. I try others but keep going back to it. Why not backup your existing..... flash a new one..... try it out for your own needs and if it's no good.... flash something else that's been recommended or revert back to your backup.

Using Cyangenod released by Elelinux. It contains the latest android version 2.3.7 and is very stable. However this rom is in my opinion not very fast.
I've only really tried a few, sense roms are always slow with all the features. Try elelinux speedmachine running 2.2, I don't know of a faster rom, I haven't tried them all though.
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
I've always used VillainRom 13 - nice and fast with Sense. If you don't need sense then VanillaEclair seems to be the best judging by what I've heard. I used Elelinux's Gingerbread for a while and that was nice too, but I like Sense too much
Good GB rom
The decked again Hero CDMA ported rom is the fastest GB rom I have tried ALOT of them, so I would recommend that for you!
I use
I use Elelinux-7.1-Hero-Custom-v2 on a every day basis.
Works fine, no FC and quite fast.
I can recommend it.
If you want a fast, stable build I'd recommend Villain Rom since the hero was build to support Android 2.1 and you'll have sense. If you like new and improved and are no stranger to tweaking I'd recommend HTX zero rom wit Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5. Very cool and fast.I use it daily now.
VR13 and the new release Heroine++ are the fastest for the hero. (if you like sense to much)...if you like AOSP you go for a CM rom or others
for aosp i tested:
1.CM7 - CM team
2.Eles Rom
3.OMFGB - JieeHD

AOSP (android open source project) is regular android with no overlay like Sense or TouchWiz.
Non-AOSP is android with an overlay like Sense.
Sometimes the AOSP rom is faster because there is no extra overlay.
It comes down to preference - look and feel.
