TyTN complete failure

Hi everibody and pleased to meet you all.
This is my first experience both with this forum and with such kind of brick, particularily with TyTN I bought a couple of months ago.
I am deeply disappointed about the device, because of the following troubles I met and I'm still facing:
- device misfunctioning (frequent modem failure);
- impossibility to reach several e-mail account (tiscali: for this problem both HTC and Tiscali itself discharge their liability and I was forced to change e-mail provider);
- unfeasibility to e-bank (e.g.: Poste Italiane, BNL),
- inaccessibility to some functionality of several website and many restrictions with almost all the sites I visited.
P.S.: Please be aware that device has been bought with WM5 and has been updated with WM6 (officially granted by HTC), and I met such problems with both ROMs.
I'm more and more angry with htc customer service that had never been able to meet my request of assistance related to the above mentioned problems.
Last reply I received is mentioned here:
"Dear Customer,
the Internet Explorer browser is limited to his functionality. The device already doesn't allow Popup in the first place.
Therefore certain operations you will not be able to do.
The best option for having some more flexibility when browsing, is to install a 3rd party software "Opera".
I do have to advise you that HTC doesn't support 3rd party software and therefore can't guarantee if it will improve the operations you require.
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please do not hesitate to call us."
Anxious for advices you will address to me, I thank you all in advance...

You got pretty good advice already it seems with your first-ever Windows Mobile device. As such, it would seem to me that your main issues are with Windows Mobile itself, not your Hermes. PIE is a mobile browser without full IE capabilities. Several others exist for Windows Mobile including Opera that may provide you with more functionality.
Perhaps you could elaborate on "frequent modem failure"?

Sure. Very frequently, when I launch IE or read mail with MO, brick comunicates message that sounds as follows: "Answers' modem is disconnetted, device is not able to establish a connection, go to start/settings/connections to check and change connection settings".
About third parties browser/ROM, the device is now working with Opera and Schaps3.54b, but restrictions (e-bank ect.) are still ongoing. Bye.

You did not mention, what Radio you are using.
But thinking of your modem issues, changin the Radio ROM is worth a try.
1.47 for example is known as stable.

I got Radio 1.47.00.10 included in Schap's 3.54b.
What about restrictions in surfing and other operations.
Does anybody could help?

How to access Planet 3 from '3' Network on HD

Hi!
I am on Three UK network and can no longer access my Planet3/My3 mobile page on my HD so that I can check my usage and balance. It keeps directing me to the website version instead of the mobile wap version.
I understand some users have had succes by changing the user agent to tytan or some other phone in the opera:config settings but it is not working for me.
Really frustrating as I am trying out what I read on other forums.
What is the homepage url and what must I do in settings please to access it? Is it http://mobile.three.co.uk?

Yes it does work dannyctl thank you but it displays very small so maybe it is meant for phones with smaller display res. Tytn 2 is on three network and that has larger display. What is the user agent for tytn?

sorry, i'm not sure for that, maybe it's fit the Samsung decice!! you better search your local PDA forum for a better setting, i think...

User Agent (UAString) change

I have an unlocked Rogers Magic running on AT&T. I have not rooted the phone, thus I am running the default software/firmware.
The phone and default image work great, with one exception. According to tools like useragent.org, my browser UAString is coded to "en-ca" (vs. what I would like it to be: "en-us"). This causes some sites to redirect to Canadian content (e.g. snapfish.com redirects to snapfish.ca), and it is driving me nuts.
I'm aware of the "about:debug" trick for faking other (but, not the above referenced portion of the string) aspects the reported User Agent. Further, I'm aware that I could download an alternate browser like Steel.
The default image and browser would be just fine for me if I could simply change what amounts to 2 characters in the User Agent string. Any ideas on the least invasive (i.e. vs rooting, new images.. etc. etc.) way of doing this? THX!

Have you tried going to settings - locale & text - Select locale and changing the language to English (United States)?

sorry my reply won't help since my knowledge of android is still infantile. my rogers unit (to run an att usa) is due tomorow and hacking won't begin until surfing the device stock for a few days before "rooting" and rom swaps.
question: how branded is your interface experience? from startup screen and through the dailer, is rogers prominent?

Yes... I looked at 'locale & text' settings ... My options are "English" or "French".... no option for "English (United States)"

Branding is minimal ... Based on research, I understand that to get rid of the splash on boot, you will need to root etc etc... For me, it's nbd because it is very rare that I turn the phone completely off and on again ... There are a few Rogers 'apps' (really simple URL links) that you can't remove (again w/o rooting etc etc), but I just don't include them on my desktop

Any ideas on my User Agent issue?
The disadvantages of the original Rogers ROM are adding-up:
1) Canadian user Agent
2) No Voice Search (Ugh! this one of the things I flet made a Keyboard-less phone more tolerable)
3) No ability to see/edit Custom words for type-ahead (usually found under Menu - Settings - Locale & text - User dictionary)
Assuming Rogers ever fixes any of these and send in over the air updates... will I get those using and unlocked phone on AT&T?

Changing Opera User Agent

I've searched the forums but haven't been able to find this. I'm coming from an iphone and so far loving the hd2 so much more, only gripe is i miss the way mobile safari renders mobile pages like gizmodo or engadget, it fills the whole screen and is much quicker than the desktop version. I've found the iphone's user agent string but in opera:config i don't see where to enter it. Anyone know how to do this or even if i'm going about it the wrong way? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

Hi everyone,
I like to watch "Swisscom Mobile TV" (a swiss service) wich is only accessable for branded phones (like the htc magic).The nexus one isn't branded phone.
So i read on a forum that i have to change my default_user_agent in the "com.android.browser_preferences.xml" to the HTC magic one to make it work. But it doesn't work.
And finally, i read that i have to modify the browsersettings.java to make the change effective (http://github.com/Wysie/android_pac.../src/com/android/browser/BrowserSettings.java)
And i really don't know how to do this, if someone can help me?

Enter the URL "about:debug" into the browser, confirm the address, nothing happens. now go into the browser preferences, scroll waaaay down. some debug settings showed up. one allows you to change the user agent
