Just wanted to let you guys know since the deveoper just came out with an update specifically for the N1.
Before this app I would be at my house and even though I had a Wifi signal on my N1 showing I wouldn't be able to use the internet and have to turn it off and on to get a real signal again. With this app I haven't had to do that once in the last 3 days.
Oh and it's free

I think he means a link to the app, which he can probably just search for in the market.
I would like to know what exactly this app does.
The app description in the Market says that it is useful for all versions of Android, and that it maintains a wifi connection which all versions of Android have problems maintaining... but it breaks commercial wifi hotspots or something.
Can someone please explain what exactly this app does and why I would need it.
probably this one:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/org.wahtod.wififixer
oh great, good explanation.
one guys says doesnt work at all, one guy says fixes all issues one guy says I dont get it. Well, I'm convinced I need this.
honestly ill probly just try it lol
Try it and let us know!
no it dose nothing on my n1 with CM
i have so many problems when i try connect to wifi on my home router it sometimes connect and sometimes doesn't i don't understand why
i have reception bars on the my wifi it just says cant connect
but when i disable the wifi security i works every time
anyone have any ideas
EDIT: i just tried changing the wifi channels to 1 to 10... i testd them all and i got one to work... i think the nexus one has trouble connecting to some channels

Is there an application out there like this that is freeware? i would love to track the other phones from my phone, but more so so the others on my family plan do not know i am doing it (otherwise they turn off their phone..lol)
ttttttttttt
this would be awesome!
as intriguing an idea as this is, it would require upper level network capabilities that only your service provider can provide. this is also possible if your phones have gps.
Don't quote me, but i'm pretty sure that is the only way.
there has to be some evil genius on here that can do it.
still no evil genius figured this out yet lol... years later..!! =(

This app is able to track other phone's location silently from one's phone.
It is here,

yeah, that´s allshare.apk, but i think you need touchwiz of samsung to run it...
there are other apps to do this like imediashare but not the same functionality as allshare
But i think that what i need is te wps button in the wifi settings to connect to a wifi direct device
this is what im talking about... this is htc desire HD samsung galaxy too

Is it possible to get the mobile signal strength on GT 7.7
I had try lots of ways but can't successful.
What you mean "get"? To get it as a function in your own app's code or just you want to see it?
Turn off WiFi and you'll see strength bars in notification popup (on the place where you usually see WiFi signal bars).
There are plenty of apps like this one that display signal info:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cellsignaltester.moby
You can also get that in the About page of the device settings. What exactly are you after?
nooooo, use this one instead, this Widget is better

It's all the same data obtained from the phone. A widget tends to suck battery and performance so that's why I recommended a simpler app. Since there are a ton of them, it's really incumbent on the end user to decide what they like.
All of that apps doesn't work on SGS2/Tab7.7 (Exynos-based chipsets).
No, they work (run), but unable to show correct signal level due to a "bug" in modem FW. They always show +85dbm. So the only way to see correct signal strength is the system signal meter in statusbar.
Any way to update the modem driver to fix the Bug ?

Don't think so. Samsung does not care about it - still not fixed even on SGS2, which is already on the market for a long time. Maybe it will be fixed with ICS release, nobody knows.
So one of the first things I did on all my previous phones was block notification for the app which hid the persistent WiFi calling notification. It seems samsung hid this for some stupid reason. Any way to hide it now?

If you set wifi calling to only when there's no network signal, then the icon won't be there till wifi is the only available connection. Doesn't really solve your problem if you want wifi calling all the time but if you have unlimited minutes there's no need for wifi calling when you have full bars.
The notification annoyed me so much, I simply disabled Wifi calling. Don't need it anyway.
Ingenious idea for t-mobile lol. Put it there so people turn it off. Though I guess it's more samsung I'm sure.

Why would T-Mobile want that? They would prefer you use Wifi instead of their network IMO
That allows them to have more customers with less congestion. Plus all plans have unlimited calling/text nowadays
Oh I agree, my comment was sarcastic and why I think it's samsungs doing.

If you're looking for a "reason" for the notification, it's much more simple and not at all devious.
It's to prevent Android from kiling the Wifi Calling function, much like many other apps that have to maintain a notification to keep the app in memory.
It wouldn't be as bad if they moved it to the right like on the m9

I rooted my G5 Plus a few months ago, and I just put HavocOS on it yesterday. It took some research but I have everything working except the MyCricket app. This has never worked with root. It ignores Magisk Hide, it doesn’t care if I’m connected to WiFi, or if I have an active SIM installed. It just doesn’t load and says I’m not connected to a network. Is there any way to get around this? It’s not very important that I get into the app, it’s more of a personal annoyance at this point that I can’t figure out how to make it work with root. Any and all help is appreciated.
Here’s the error the app gives

I haven't done anything with the kernel. If any changes were made, it would have been by the install of HavocOS. I would think it's still stock though so I'm not sure if it's a kernel issue.

It could be due to bad VPN you use.

It's hardly a VPN, it's CloudFlare and the MyCricket app works just fine on my non rooted Nokia with the same app/VPN running.
I'm facing the same issue too, but on Moto G5S Plus. Have you been able to get around this issue?
