Newbie - What can be done?

Hey guys new to the forum - i've had a HD for about 3 months now and done nothing with it just used it as i would a nokia 402! lol I chose this over the iphone simply because of the keybad option when typing texts etc.
What cool things can be done to make my HD better?
My HD runs slow all the time -it's not loaded up with junk or any files at all really and yet it runs slow when the hardware specs suggest it shouldnt. I'm on orange (so prolly got a bs orange rom, right?)
Can you get cool games for the HD for when im at work like you can the iphone?

I recomend having a look in the ROM dev forum and wait until dutty releases his 3.9xt ROM.
If you flash this rom you will think you have a new phone!
Read up on crackwhores guide to flashing as i'm guessing you will have the stock spl.
So you have to flash an official HTC 1.54 ROM first. Then flash duttys.
I may sound complicated but it really isn't.
Also, if i were you i'd use USPL as appose to HSPL as the latter voids your phone warranty!

Well he's got 3.8 out atm but said he'll upload 3.9 tonight so ye, i'd wait a day tbh.
Also, there have been some problems with people using backup&restore programs for sms, contacts and things so if you can sync your calendar and contacts using outlook that would be even better.
His new ROM will also be UC compatible which is going to make installing all your main cabs the easiest thing in the world

Are you using search because your questions have been answered many times all over this site look above and type what you want in search you will be surprised by what you can learn or you can check the wiki as well they even list what works and what doesnt including games

Read all you can about flashing and then, try new ROM's.
My ROM if Laurentius L26, and I'm really satisfied with it...
Also take a look on apps to install...

Yeah sorry i made this thread because it's quick and easy to keep an eye on - i'm at work you see and they wouldnt appreciate it if i was on one site for 50-60mins searching around, i perhaps should have stated that in my first thread. Sorry.

Mate, the best thing to do is search and learn...
Flashing is changing the ROM (software) of your mobile. You can change the stock ROM by a lot of cooked ROMs that are posted here at the site.
But until you decide on what to do, read carefully all threads to understand how it works...

i've flashed it to Dutty's XT Turbo 3.9... it's pretty nice. I was just asking about the gsensor games lol

there are plently.. at least for starters u are in the right forum !!!!
search around look around.. ask questions at QnA
you can take a look at my humble blog too... there are some useful freewares made by folks here mentioned there too

I want that Dusk Manila theme, not entirely sure how to do it though and cant find any info on it Any shed any light on it for me?

new roms

i have an htc dream. but my gf has maple. i was wondering when and if people start cooking roms for this phone. if it will retain the my faves apps and ect. becase in dream world that app wont convert. i hope its ok that started a thread if not i understand if it gets locked

Hi all,
I think it's aready been discussed the possibility to change from 3x5 to 4x5/5x5 on people tab. Is there a CAB can do this?

I don't know why there is no solution for this...if they made it for shortcuts...why not for people tab...

I guess unless you know how to build manila tabs then that's quite a difficult thing to do.

And as far as I know you can't make new tabs without cooking new rom, except that probram tab which can be added with .cab....
And if you can't add new I guess you can't edit them...
I hope someone will find solution for this...

They are editable, as you said yourself with the quicklinks example. They're just not documented so it's not easy. When someone builds a piece of software from the ground up it's quite easy, as you have your dev environment and your SDK and you know how the platform works. When you're talking about modding an existing application then it's something that was made by other people and you've basically got no idea how it works or how to change anything (if you even can). It takes a lot of careful prodding to find things. That's why it's so uncommon for people to deliver real changes to manila.
Anyway, hopefully someone will find a way to do it. Otherwise, I'll just live with the "All people" button. I just miss the faves tab from TouchFLO. It was sooooo much better!

I wrote a how to a couple of years ago on how to do this...Its posted on ppcgeeks. In one of the threads me and caddieguy did for the HTC Home customizer icons.. We did all the sports icons for HHC... Try and find it..
Its pretty easy and if you use GIMP its free.
EDIT: I just looked for where I posted the tutorials. I couldnt find them. If you want to look more maybe you can find them. If not I know I have them on my external hard drive which is connected to my ps3 at the moment. If you want them Ill pull em from there and post them here.

Thats absolutely cool with me. If thats the case though let me go through the tutorials a little and take out/change some stuff since its based on icons/clocks for HHC which I havent used since I changed to manila2D on my mogul. Not sure if the original HTC Home is still used at all. PM me to set something up.

I looked on pocketemu.com too but I couldnt find it. Thats where it was originally hosted since emunutz(creator of HHC) asked me to write them. A couple of years ago the site was down for a while and I ended up attaching the originals in .doc format zipped up in one of the threads on ppcgeeks. Which I couldnt find.
Ill attach the originals here. I did one for the icons and one for the clock. Some of the things only pertain to HTC Home Customizer but thats mostly for icon sizes and file names etc. All of the icon editing stuff would be the same now. The tutorials still have alot of good info in them...By the way what a blast from the past looking at them, I havent opened them for at least 2 years...

Girlfriend got me a leo - - i believe i can do some bits and bobs to enhance this phone..Any help welcomed.. Also i dont mind trying out android on this phone as it has all the right hardware - - but will it be stable.. let me know guys..

Yeah, its may taste of humor

Personally I tried a lot of options, and my leo is quite angry of me because I did every possible thing with her D).
I suggest reading this thread, it gives you a good start...
My choice if I where you:
1. HardSPL your device (Instructions available in the thread mentioned above).
2. Install some good cooked ROM (Hacked windows mobile version) on your phone. My own choice: Artemis.
3. Download and install some good android build. My own choice: mattc.
P.S: BTW, do gals give guys gifts as expensive as Leo in your place? I wish I lived in your country!
