The first time I fired up TS it works 100%, logged into FB and all was well, now it still updates but does not display anything!
All I have in my TS is a few photo's I took last night when I was first playing with the phone!
Any ideas?

I think it's a little buggy and some of its threads crash from time to time, you can fix it by deleting the widget then restoring it. Sometimes a reboot works too
How do I delete the widget and then restore it?

This happened to me yesterday as well, I also deleted the widget and got it back in place and all cool then!

Hello All,
Am new to HTC Android Phone. I have setup my contacts photos to be picked up from the respective Facebook Profiles. Although this happened the first time, if a contact changes the photo on facebook it is not getting updated in the phone? Is there a way to manually force an update??
Facebook sync is enabled (i guess once every 12 hours) and it has been several days since the contact updated the profile pic on FB.

Pretty annoying, but I have not found a way yet to fix it. Looks like a problem with facebook for android.

It seems that the facebook sync method doesn't check if the facebook profile pic is updated or not. Probably to save network bandwidth and sync time. But it is kind of annoying that it is not updated.
I have exactly the opposite problem. The pictures assigned to my contacts in google keep getting updated with those in facebook. While I don't mind that for contacts that do not have pictures in Google, it is quite annoying for such that do.
i pressed the sync all widget and all my face book images updated
my legend is rooted and running the modaco rom tho

Strange that it works for you. Can't see how a root or new rom would change anything. I have the same problem, using stock unrooted rom. Kinda hoped it would be fixed with new update, but no luck

I was also facing the problem of getting updated display pic from facebook and thought that there wasn't anyway to solve.. until after i ran into the FriendStream problem.
My FriendStream started acting strange and refuses to update friends' status today, it force closes when i try to launch the application proper. After reading up online, I did what others suggested, remove the facebook account and re-add it to FriendStream.. It got my FriendStream working again, plus a bonus - it "re-linked" with all my contacts in People and updated their profile pics! =D
Might take a while for it to fetch all the display pics again though, so I'd recommend doing it with a WiFi connection

the solution I found to force an update was to run friend stream, friends, facebook, menu, update

i know this is an old thread so hoping there was a better fix for this issue? terribly annoying
Doing a refresh in the friendstream app updates the photo in the app but not the contact photo
I have found no way to update the photos till now... have even tried unlinking the Facebook profile from the contact and readding - no use...

I'm running a custom ROM but it's a stock ROM, with Darchstars GodMode overclocked kernel. Also, I'm using Launcher Pro and not Sense. My problem is that for some reason, my Facebook contacts will not sync... I'm using the stock method for syncing contacts (Account and Sync; Facebook for HTC Sense)

Go to Facebook->Application Settings and remove HTC Sense. Then delete the Facebook sync from settings and add it again. This might fix it but I'm still waiting for it to sync.

It is working for other androids. It seems to only be a problem with 2.0+ syncing.
When I first got my phone (Vibrant) on 7/15 it worked fine then it didnt give me updates so i tried removing then re-adding facebook to accounts and sync and it no longer works, even tried doing a factory reset. Still nothing. So it went from working fine, to not working for some reason.

If you re-added your account or did a first sync after it stopped working, it won't work. If it was already working before it should still work.
I take it it's still broken. I just installed Fresh Rom, and it still will not sync my contacts.

Yep, HTC has said to try doing one of the following:
1. Try adding a city and state to your current job in Facebook.
2. Try deleting your current company in Facebook.

Doesn't work either.
I just got mine to synch up. Might want to give it a try now and see if it works for you. I went about it a round about way but it is working and Friendstream is showing content from facebook again.

How did you get it to work? It isn't working for me.

You know this is pretty sad but I can't seem to figure out how exactly I did it. I went into a contact under People and was messing with the picture somehow and it gave an option for facebook. Signed in from there. Since I did it there I have been able to remove my facebook account from accounts and sync and then add it from there.
Edit:
It's working for live updates but doesn't seem to work for synching contacts though. My list of Facebook contacts is blank when I try to link an existing contact with a Facebook contact.
You can use syncmypix from the market. I'm using it as a temporary workaround.

Yea I found that today. It works pretty good.
Started working again about 5 mins ago. Finally.
Yea looks like they are getting it straightened out. Just noticed a little bit ago that my contacts were syncing with facebook again.

Yep, was in Messages and saw the facebook logo by the contact icons

as per tittle, something keeps deleting all my contacts, jus today i hav had to restore um 7 times today,
has anyone else come across this and managed to resolve the issue

Do you have google sync turned on? (Its in Phonebook ->Settings or something) The same thing happened to me, I restored them twice, and then 10 minutes later I noticed that all the contacts were back, and I had 3 copies of each contact which I had to manually delete

yeah i had that before, giving me triple contacts, i defo made sure that google sync was off, but this is deleting all off um, im pretty sure iv deleted all the recent apps iv installed in last 24 hrs,
this really doing my nut in, jus soon as start getting it rite too
i hav checked and my sync and it is not acivated, via google or SE, it only started to do it yesterday ive deleted any recent apps i put on and i still get the problem, it will start to delete all assigned pic to my contacts then will delete them all together, this mornin it now done it three times, ? ? ?
i now jus reinstalled the software via SE updater, reinstalled my settings and contacts, rebooted my phone which it asked me to do and suprise suprise my contacts were gone again, so i now kno its not a app doing it,
Do any of you had problem syncing contacts from facebook after the OTA J16 update?
I had this problem too, FB wouldn't sync so I didn't have contact pictures for any of my contacts. I removed my account, added it again, forced resync a few times, rebooted the phone and nothing seemed to work. Then, like an hour later it synced. Seems to be working fine except I have one contact tha has the wrong profiles picture shown and I can't figure out how to fix that.
@deadpass, do you have facebook for android installed? I have that installed and have the widget for launcher pro as well.

I do, the widget is on one of my home pages and it updates fine. I just removed and readded by FB account and all the pictures sync again, but I still have the one contact that has the incorrect picture.
Fb and twitter sync is completely norked on my phone. I meed to get a netbook soon cause these smartphones are wholly unreliable, imo.

the same problem persists for me.i even have my phone activated and have a working live ID.

well the function does work as im using it without bother, so it is either a carrier issue, facebook issue or something not setup on your phone right.
assuming you have internet access without the USB cable attached or wifi on then you can rule out carrier, facebook issues would need another phone to try, but its unlikely it would be persistant, more likely a temp glitch that should fix its self in a hour or so.
that leaves phone issues
again, assuming you have internet on your phone, id try removing that facebook pish app from the market, then remove your link to facebook on your phone, hold push to get delete option. restart and then relink your facebook account.
Next see if you have access to facebook details on your phone, friends, news wall etc, again do this without wifi or USB, use your carrier. Finally try uploading a small low quality pic and see what happens

Maybe it's your internet? try uploading it up wifi and see if that works.
It working now . I just delete fb link and restart my phone and link to fb account again everything is working now... Thank u all...
I'm having the same issue right now. Happened when I switched roms. Tried unlinking Facebook and restarting phone but still won't work. Worked perfectly before. Also won't show my Facebook albums in my pic albums anymore. Any other ideas?

Did you just restart your phone or was it a hard reset? I tried unlinking and restarting my phone, but it didn't help.
Gotta bump this up again, would really like to find a solution to this.
