After i synced my facebook account with my phone, it added all the pictures for my contacts, and replaced my outlook photos. Is there a way to remove the pictures and disable the picture function? i tried to search but found no help
don't know if it help you... Go to contact card, hit "edit contact" and when in edit mode click picture of contact. You will have pop up menu with options to use:
Facebook, outlook, album or no picture
Is it possible to do it all at once?

If you click on the icon in the top left when editing the contact, it should let you add a picture. The only one I ever had to add was for myself. The rest synced from Facebook and Gmail.
u could go to your gmail account and change them by going to the contacts section

Not entirely sure what you are asking, but if you goto your nexus one contacts > Menu button > accounts > add account, you can add facebook in. then afterwards, just make sure there is a checkmark in your facebook account sync settings. This will sync facebook and your nexus one contacts profile pic and all. If your nexus can't figure out which google contacts and which facebook contacts are the same person, you can manually join them under the settings for each contact and the profile pics and info will stay synced forever more.
However, your nexus won't sync this unified contact info or the profile pictures back to Google contacts website. Just for your phones contacts app.

This is what I'm trying to do... where in the settings? There's either "Options", which just changes ringtone and such, or there's the option to Edit the contact. Don't see where to link Gmail contacts with Facebook.
go to the facebook app and add your account and then it will givey ou options to sync or not
I know I'm having this issue... I'm not sure if it beacse there is already a contact icon (this is what android call is) in place and facebook can't over-write a new photo or not. I know you can go an edit the contact and there is a facebook section where you can choose to use the icon/picture there.

It will automatically merge the facebook contacts with matching google contacts. be sure to force a manual sync in case it didn't automatically do it after adding the facebook account.
for the facebook contacts it couldn't figure out which google contact to merge with, goto the contact, click on edit contact, and towards the bottom you should have a join contacts option to pick a contact to merge the info with for future syncs.
Also, if you have already assigned a contact picture, I think that will override the facebook synced one. SO remove any contact pictures you assigned locally.

Thanks, that's the info I needed! I didn't know I had to click menu a second time after I was already in the edit contacts screen.
Edit: I was initially bummed when it started changing the displayed names of my contacts to match the Facebook profiles... but then I realized that it keeps your old name in the contact on the phone as well. So when I start typing Dad, it brings up my dad's name. Nice.

Yeah, It doesn't actually change anything on facebook or google contacts, it just changes the view on your phone and syncs that view with any changes that come from facebook or google contacts. but both address books are still kept separate on their respective servers. Although it would be kind of cool if there was a an option to sync that data and profile pics back to the google contacts server since I use google voice a lot. But that would be a very difficult thing to do and a bug could be catastrophic.

Yeah... I assumed that sync was... adding the information (pic, email, phone number...) to your contact, then that information would be uploaded to google contacts. I guess all the facebook sync does is just creates a "Facebook" section in your main contact card and that information never gets really added to the main portion of that contact card... the fb information is just there for your phone...
Hi,
how do i make the picture i use in GMail for a contact take precedence over the facebook contact picture?
also I've noticed sometimes my friends on facebook will change their profile picture but it never changes on my phone. Any ideas here?
thanks!

yep, did that.
you may (probably) have to do it contact by contact, but if you go into contacts, pick the person who's photo you want to change (assuming you had a photo of them before, that was synced to gmail's contacts). go to their contact info, hit menu>edit contact. click on their photo, which should be the gmail photo. select "use this photo". it will override the facebook synced photo in your contact list.
Is there a way I can have just my phone contacts showing when I add recipient to an sms rather than all my facebook contacts too? Ive already tried to disable facebook account in the phonebook but it doesnt make a difference. I have to remove the facebook account altogether for it to show my normal contacts.

Tried that already, still includes everything when trying to send an sms, does that work on your s4?
Did you check the "Only show contacts with phone numbers" option? Path = Open contacts app, select contacts tab at the top, main menu button, select options, check Only show contacts with phone numbers box.

Tried that too but some of the facebook contacts had numbers too lol, ive just disabled facebook contacts altogether now.
lol Did the same a long time ago, having them merged wasn't worth the hassle for me.
I have Google+ synchronizing with my contact list as it fills in a lot of pictures that I don't have for contacts. However, for one contact, I have a much better quality picture of them I would like to use. If I set the picture as their contact photo however, it doesn't change - the Google+ one remains. If I edit the contact I can see that locally the picture is being saved correctly, but the phone appears to be choosing to use the Google+ picture anyway. How do I make the phone choose what I've locally saved instead?

Obviously you can either chose to use G+ or your phone contact pictures, not preferably one from here and one from there.
But why not just sign into your gmail and manage your G+ photos and replace the low res one with the one you like, sync and you're done.
Go to google . com / contacts and set the picture there.
Right, so I removed the locally stored contact picture and instead went to my Google Contacts and updated it there, and when it synced back to the phone, it still uses the Google+ picture instead of the picture I want. The only way I can stop this is to disable Google+ contact sync, but then I lose a lot of pictures for my other contacts.
open your contact, hit menu, then select "Mark as default"
you can then choose which one you want

Thanks! Is there a way I can reset this setting if I'd like to in the future?
