So I have read that there are hardware accelerated versions of SPB Mobile Shell & CorePlayer Mobile on the TG01. Since the TG01 uses the same chipset, it seems reasonable that these would work on the GW820.
Has this already been tried?
I've read that people have already tested the TG01 version of CorePlayer Mobile on the HD2 with success, so that one shouldn't be a problem, but I haven't read anything about SPB Mobile Shell.
There may be other goodies as well from both the HD2 & TG01 that we may be able to use.
I use spb with mobilesense and it works flawlessly.
juger said he uses a modified version off core player. I use basic and it works great.
I guess the snapdragon is fast enough that you don't need hardwre acceleration.

Just installed Planmaker and Textmaker from Softmaker and they are running Very very nice just like a windows program
Try it with real VGA, you will be amazed...
Beautiful!
I really like textmaker, although I've barely had need to use it, but it looks great. Is this the same version as the old WM2003 one, but just running on WM5? Universal must be the best way to use this kind of pro software!
Heh, for the full experience, try my VJFullscreenTSC:
V
Yes they are the old versions but they are for Handheld PCs
The PPC version looks like this screenshot
@Shaytaan:
I installed the handheld version of planmaker on my Jasjar but I cannot see the menus, etc. I believe the problem is that I did not run the program in real vga mode as your recommend.
I know it might sound silly but can you please guide me how to turn on the VGA mode on my Jasjar.
Thanks for the wonderful information and kind regards
Was just over at Handango and saw that the Sbp Mobile Shell and Pocket Plus were two of the best selling programs they have. Yet a search of the entire xda forum gives back no hits. Does no one use this? The shell seemed like a pretty good looking interface.
Mobile Shell versus Pocket Plus
So far I think the general trend is to towards Pocket Plus as Mobile Shell is still on version 1.
I use pocket plus and so do quite a few others on the forum. It's very customisable and a good piece of software.
So far Mobile Shell is lacking in a lot of areas and while it promises to be a good interface I think it will take a few more versions.
There is a thread on it somewhere.
You're searching wrong if you're getting no hits on "Sbp Mobile Shell". There are several threads.
However, remember that XDA devs ironically borks at search keywords <= 3 letters. (ie SPB is not a valid search term)
Ergo, try google:

I use SPB Mobile Shell. Some bits of it are nice. Some are useless or eye candy only. Give it a trial! It's technically a nice piece of work, and will improve your productivity. You have to decide on whether it's worth the price.
V
mobile shell IS quite nice. I use it with Diary and GPRS monitor. could use some refinement but it works as a today screen.
SBP software
I'm a big fan of SPB stuff.
I use SPB Pocket Plus, SPB diary (which work well together) and SPB finance.
I've trialled some of the others - the phone suite is good, but not as good as phone alarm...yet. I'm hoping it does improve as it was the first version.
Have also tried SPB mobile dvd and SPB backup - both work very well too - they'll be next.
J.
I used to use SPB programs as well, Mobile Shell is quite nice... of course there are much more advanced and skinnable today plugins than SPB today plug ins so I dont use them anymore..
I use MobileShell and PhoneSuite on my 8525

mtkates posted a great SPB mobile shell theme, the VGA customizzation of the DIAMOND SPB mobile shell 2.1 theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402021
I have tested it (SPB works in 192 DPI) and works fine on X7500 wm 6.1 ROM!
In the same post there is a mini guide to convert QVGA in VGA themes
WOW! It looks nice, but must be memory hungry application.

does this works in landscape mode or only in portait?
portrait AND landscape
Hello...
Can it be use in 96dpi? Did you try it?
Last time I try I need to make a hard reset because my device didn't recognize shell 2 themes!
Regards.
nah its ****ed up in 96dpi
192 works great though, but only 5 tabs? weird
Ah well great none the less
Rory
I agree, SPB Mobile shell don't show correctly at 96 dpi, although all functions work. A solution was suggested on how to fix it. I tried, but it did not work for me. I always get a blank screen upon launching SPB Mobile Shell. The device did not froze, I can get out off it using the normal functions. I must have messed up somewhere, but with my innexperience, it was just too over whelming. Although, the suggestion was really a good and valid idea as he was able to make SPB Mobile Shell run on a square screen.
What version of RealVGA are you using? The updated version of this theme (only version I've tried), hangs when trying to go to the 'Now' screen for me.
Got it working with the cab version of 1.1, the files only version didnt work for me so I doubt upgrading would work either... shame, the VGA version looks a bit rough and ready on mine.
None of this works at all at 128dpi. Just in case anyone wondered.
Strange. After I copied all the *.dat files to the device's folder, the spb menu does not start anymore. I'm in 192 dpi.
Tried twice with the same result. Once I recopied the original *.dat files back, it springs back to life again.
Okay, the dat files override method does not work, but a cab file from responderman does it.
I'm beginining to reaaly like spb mobile shell now. It's much more customisable than I first thought.
Edit: Solved. All the skins in those threads for for QVGA only. There are only two VGA compatible theme AFAIK.
After installing spb mobile shell, download and install the cab in this link. It works for VGA devices.

eaglesteve,
I thought i had read in another post that you have been tweaking with the SPB MS 2.1 settings and have been able to speed up the VGA Diamond interface for Athena?? Is this correct? If so, can you share the settings you used because I am finding that although the program works, the interface slows down my Advantage 7501 dramatically and the device speeds back up as soon as I uninstall the SPB mobile shell program.
I am currently running the Taxist Ultra Lite (1st one) ROM

Photons2,
I don't remember having made such a post, but if you come across that again, I've be interested to know too. For me, I don't notice too much slow down yet.
Ok, just checking back, I have since upgraded to the
Sogarth's Base Vanilla Rom (SPL 3.5 and 1.2) which has worked great! The SPB Mobile shell is nice and smooth now and no problemos so far (about 5 hours into it)
If your going to use the Diamond interface with SPB mobile shell V2.1 then I recommend the Sogarths / Irus Vanilla Rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410139
Now if I could just figure out mtkates' tutorial better (QVGA to VGA Mobile Shell Conversion Mini-Tutorial) I could get some better graphics out there however no luck yet...
Check this out: VGA diamond skin for SPB Mobile Shell. Fresh from the ovan.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412052
After installing the standard SPL Mobile Shell, simply copy the files in the above zip into the spb menu shell folder. Done. You now have a beautiful diamond interface.... Well.. not exactly. The layout is still the version 1, which looks like standard Mobile Shell in terms of control but diamond in color. In vesion 2.0, they have layout which gives buttons and controls that resember the diamond more closely. However, there is no VGA diamond skin for that yet AFAIK.
This one works great, and it is a REAL VGA Interface.

Thanks a lot for this work.
.... this here is not for free, but its really great and only for VGA (640x480).

Sorry, i forget the LINK.
is the wizard vga or qvga or any at all? and can i use shell mobile stuff one it
QVGA only.
I assume you mean Sbp Mobile Shell. Yes, it's available for WM5 or WM6, according to their website. Not sure why you'd spend money on features that can be had for free elsewhere on this website (see Manila 2d), though. To each his own...
I'm very new with the Athena (or Ameo) I will get this week. I had a Touch Diamond (nice, but so small and slow for me) and a Toch Pro 2 (cool gadget so far). Now I have bought an Ameo I have wanted so long and I hope this little nice device will live a long time.
Well, because I'm new the the Ameo I have some questions and hope you experts can help me.
The Touch Diamond had a VGA screen too but with much lower size and a slower CPU. So, programs running on the Diamond are also possible to use on the Ameo?
Can I use the latest SPB Mobile Shell on the Ameo without issues? Haven't found some infos about.
I can use the 16GB MicroSDHC from my Touch Pro 2 with a simple MiniSD-Adapter on the Ameo, right?
And the most important questions: Whats the ROM I need? Okay, without any informations this is the most stupid question I can tell, I know. I'm looking for a light ROM (German would be nice, but English is good too) based on WM 6.1 or 6.5, but should be stable with all function working like the base ROM. I also want to use the G-Sensor (not only on internet browser), GPS, WLAN and VGA/TV-out. Bluetooth is necessary for using headset. And I have seen a special driver for the ATI chip. Do I need a ROM with this builtin driver or can I install it later?
Best regards

Thanks for your replay, baramuli!
Now I have tried some ROMs... original T-Mobile MW6 (brrrr ), HTC WM6, full AP 4.0, xXaCsXx V4.31 Clean and V4.31 HH WM6.1 (all German), irus Ultra Vanilla WM6.1 and AP4.0 Vanilla, WM6.5 MULTILANG R6.5 RC1 MiChY and lennie's AGB V3.00.0. Some I have flashed more then once to check special tweaks or settings.
WM6.1 build are nice and fast, had around 120MB storage and 80MB free mem. Well, AP4 was startlingly slow.
Michys R6.5 was best looking on paper, but on the Ameo I had much trouble with it. I like the 6.5 design, but R6.5 was unuseable for me. Had have freezes, non working keyboards, broken start menu and some more.
But AGB V3 was amazing. Stable, fast (for a WM6.5.x build) and I haven't found bad bugs so far. The only point I'm not happy with it are the big menus and fonts. Well, its nice for small displays but oversized on the Ameo. I hope I can make some changes here.
Yes, the Ameo is not the fastest device, but pretty usable and my Touch Pro 2 with WM6.5 has dropouts yet. The Ameo can play the same movies I had watched on the TP2 and games (Palm Heroes, NfS Underground, Spore) are a pleasure on 5" (yes, I'm 34 but I like to play games, some times ).
Mobile Shell was nice on the Ameo but I was not happy with it.
My 8GB Class 4 Kingston microSDHC is running without problems on a MiniSD adaptor on the Ameo but I will change to 16GB Sandisk from my TP2.
ATM I try to optimize AGB V3 for myself (change some programs on the ROM, make some registry tweaks).
