Hello All,
Really a quick question to all the HD2 users, I wanted to know if a thread I was reading is true, that the HD2 contacts app has the ability to assign a Call ringtone, as well as a SMS ringtone through the HTC contact app without the need for a 3rd party app?
And would it be too much trouble if someone could put a screenshot of that page up? I always wanted that feature without having to install a third party app, and if the HD2 does that, I might see if I can get that moved over to the TP2.
Thanx.

U just need to copy the contact to your HD2. Call Ringtones can be assigned, SMS I doubt so.
There is a thread in here where they were talking about it, and I asked there but no one answered. Anyone else can confirm there is no way to assign sms tones thru htc contacts?

Hey guys... i've installed a "certain" sms thread viewer (i'm sure you know what i'm refering to)...
anyway... when i click on the view sms portion of the HTC today screen... it seems to want to also launch the standard email application.
Is there anyway to hack this so it just launches the certain sms program without having to launch email (I just don't use my PPC for email) and the HTC touch is slow enough as it is...
Thanks guys, Much appreciated.
It is annoying when you have little or no signal and you send an SMS only to get an unable to send SMS notification. It would be great if it could auto retry (AND get rid of the draft when the SMS is successfully sent).
Is there such a program? Couldn't find one on google or here.
Could someone make one?

Not sure with the standard messaging features but add ons like Vito SMS chat have this feature (resend) rather than searching through draft folders like you said.
I would like to bump this thread again. This can be a real annoyance and I can't imagine a skilled developer would take long to write an app to do this.

I completely support the statement that this is super annoying. Can't imagine why noone has tackled the issue so far.
I think many would appreciate this to be done..
so the app should always be running in the background?

Maybe integrated to the WIndows default SMS application?
i think the app should monitor if a new sms is moved to the drafts folder

But this would send even the messages you intended to move to drafts folder. like messages you intended to send later. but if it is not possible for now to integrate to the existing default sms app, i think this is an option. BTW i know you can do this oldsap, ive been using some of your apps since way back to the SAP era. thanks for that.
I need some suggestions on what applications is best to use for keeping track of birthdays?
It would also be nice that the applications auto sends a SMS message to the person is question
Birthday app
This is not really worth a new thread, but would belong in Q & A type thread like this.
But to answer your question, I would not use anything else but the HTC Sense contacts app called people. You have the choice of entering a birthday or an anniversary. You can set the reminder to between 1 minute and 3 weeks or so.
Sense also links to facebook which also has birthdays.

Sorry, didn't read part B.
It's possible to do this but would require some serious work by a programmer.
There are auto sms apps around.

for some reason it was overlooked fortunately there's an app for that
ringo
plus the lite version includes assigning tones to SMS from contacts as well
this is how you do it
this was not over looked!!! all you have to do is for the contacts that you want to have custom ringtones for.. you create another contact for them on the phone memory and then you tie that one to the google one. with the contact that is saved on the phone memory you then now set a custom ringtone for them....
enjoy!!!

Let us be very clear on this. What you describe is a workaround. The basic functionality has been overlooked or neglected.
If you do the workaround you describe your phone contacts do not get backed up to your Google contact list. This is, IMO, unacceptable.
yeah it's stupid.... however using an app like ringroid works.
about the contact ringtones
Hello everybody, im knew to Android, and i was puzzled also about the personal contact ringtones. i just tryed the ringo app and it works perfectly no issues, thanks guys for the info.
Thanks for the thread, I've been struggling with this for about 2 hours on my Galaxy S. So far this is the only issue I've found with the phone. Anybody want to buy a G1?
Ringdroid works too.

Been a fan of WP7 since it was ported to HD2 but one thing keeps me away from it because of a missing feature - the QUICK REPLY option on SMS.
I really need that feature which would allow me to insert quick replies to all of my SMS with choices of SMS templates. I know that there are couple of Apps that would let me create SMS Templates but it wouldn't allow to insert sms templates as a reply rather it would create or compose a new sms with the pre-loaded sms template. I know copy paste would do but I'm looking for an easier way to do it.
Is there a way or an app that does this? I already did some research and tried some apps but i could never find an app or a way to do it.
TIA

Extreme Quick Reply
will allow you to get missing function such as messaging template which have been avaliable in the mobile phone for past years back in Windows Phone 7.
You can add or edit the exisiting template so that you can send quick replies to your friends via SMS or email.

Have you tried it? I tried that app already before and wouldn't do that quick reply in the middle of the conversation window (since most on my conversations list are anonymous persons/phone numbers only and they are not saved on my Contacts). If that app would work like that then I should've missed out how to do that feature.
I wouldn't be able to try that app out once again since I'm on Android right now, if someone would try it out for me I'd be grateful, if none, I guess i have to roll back to WP7 again
Anyone pls?
